Obviously, everyone is to blame for the precarious state of the country. The leaders and the citizens. Change can start from both ends from the top( Leaders) to the bottom (Citizens) and vice versa but I believe the best change will come from the bottom (Citizens) to the Top (Leaders). Let's not deceive ourselves, Our leaders come out from our communities, they didn't come from outside the country or from outer space. If I do my own part to raise the next generation of morally upright and God fearing kids, you do your part of doing the same. It is these kids that will become Leaders tomorrow and the country will be better for it. This way is faster and more efficient than a change from a good leader down to morally bad citizens. |
Jodera2:I know they have what it takes to do it but its not easy to gain maximum points in a jam-packed month of fixtures. |
Freshtruth:I understand you but remember if they progress by beating Bayern in the UCL which I believe UCL is more of a priority to Pep, with the FA Cup semi- final, they would have 4 extra games more to play in just one month total of 9 games to 5 games of Arsenal in one month. They can do it but it won't be easy playing 9 games in one month. Remember the seasons they won the league, they crashed out of UCL and FA Cup. |
Avoid defeat at the Etihad and the 9 games between 30th of April and 28th of May might just be the saving grace for Arsenal, City are capable of winning all the games in one month but I believe City have to cope with jam-packed fixtures. Arsenal mean while would just have just 5 games between that time frame. |
Jodera2:Pep wants to win the UCL as well. May fixtures has a tight schedule for all teams i think 6 games between the end of April and end of May. Now add 2 outstanding for City and 2 legs of Semi- final. 10 games not 11 games in 1 month. Let's see how Pep manages the team from Fatigue to topple Arsenal. I just pray they beat Bayern so they can have 10 games in one month let's see how they would cope with it. |
Jodera2:Check well their depth has dropped, Cancelo has gone no replacement, some of their squad players are academy players. Fernandinho replacement Kavin Philips has not been good enough this season. Arsenal only have 8 games to play this season. I believe if they insist on a treble it might take a toll on them because playing UCL and FA Cup chasing an Arsenal will not be easy. Previous seasons they usually just win the PL and the Carabao Cup drop out of UCL and FA. If they insist on a treble it will take a toll on them because whether we like it or not the league will end on May 28, so the 2 outstandings they would have and a semi final of two legs. They would have to squeeze out 11 fixtures in one month. That's an average of 3-4 games in a week. |
You also need to consider the fact that, City may have 12 games to play in one month. FA Cup and UCL. If they progress by beating Bayern in UCL and Sheffield in FA Cup together with 2 outstandings they would have 12 games to play. That run of games will have a toll on them except they drop out of one or both quickly, if they insist on a treble this season, fatigue might just set in. |

Obaaderemi2:You are right, My grandfather who was a tenant in an Igbo man's house in Ebute- Metta he collected rent on his behalf and gave it to him after the war even when the Igbo man never thought he would be back in Nigeria after 3 years of Civil war. That singular act together with Obafemi Awolowo giving the East all the accumulated allocation helped rebuild the East. Many of the Igbos till today never recovered their properties in Port-Harcourt which is even closer to them than Lagos. The RRR (Re-Building ,Re-integration and Reconciliation) promised by the Federal Government though was never fully implemented but part of it helped to re-building the East. |
As we know Lagos the Capital was just VI,Ikoyi,Ebute- Metta,Yaba and part of Surulere that was FCT. Even at that all these areas are Yoruba named with meanings. The Benin Warriors who came to Lagos to help drive off the Dahomey warriors came as visitors, they were invited by the Idejo Chiefs to help, they created the Obaship system and named a few parts in Benin does not mean they didn't meet Aworis on the land. First settlers always own a land. They gave the name 'Eko' doesn't mean they own the land. The Portugese that named the geographical space "Lagos" does not mean they own the land they met people there. Awori owns the Lagos Island, Ikeja, part of Badagry and part of Epe divisions, Ijebu owns Ikorodu and part of Epe divison ,Eguns (not Yorubas but a sister ethnic nation owns part of Badagry, majorly found in Benin Republic) so tell me how is Lagos not a "Yoruba land" |
This is the same narrative I give to people when they make that statement of " Lagos is no man's land" even some ignorant Yorubas were starting to believe it. I may not have explained it in details like you did OP, but I always tell people who care to Know, even if you say "Lagos is no man's land" are you referring to just Lagos "Eko" that's Lagos Island alone or the entire Lagos State because Lagos state comprises of the 5 divisions IBILE ( Ikorody,Badagry,Ikeja,Lagos Island and Epe) and the remaining 4 divisions asides Lagos Island was part and parcel of the Western region which was administered by Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. |
Ignorant OP, Yorubas make up 80% of Kwara, Most Towns in Kwara have Obas they speak Yoruba Language. Except Ilorin with a mix of Yoruba,Fulani and Nupe.Oyedepo is a Bonifide Yoruba Man from Omu- aran. Oyedepo means Title gets position. |
chinchum:The guy thinks we are fools, no Hausa man comes from Kogi. |
almarthins:Oga stop deceiving yourself everybody knows Igbo hates APC. I have never met an Igbo that wants to vote APC except maybe if his relative is contesting under APC. |
Invitationn:Look at the voting pattern across the country, all tribes voted across party. Even in the South East, they voted LP,PDP,APGA. Why did all Igbos in Lagos vote LP why have they abandon their dearest PDP in Lagos. Definitely because the LP candidate is half Igbo and his social media history shows he hates Yorubas. If that is not an ethnic agenda I wonder what else it is. This is the issue that should be talked about. |
Everyone on the social media space vilifying Yorubas. Let me cite an example, in my estate majority of Yorubas voted APC, a few Yorubas voted LP, PDP and ADC. All Igbos voted LP and were very loud when the ad-hoc staff was counting and was violent when a few of the ballot papers were void, they almost harrased the lady ad-hoc staff. To my question, look at the voting pattern of the Yorubas now look at the voting pattern of Igbos. Does this not signify an ethnic agenda by the Igbos just because the LP candidate is half Igbo. |
greggng:Let me ask you a question, why do Igbos vote enmass for one party in Lagos? Its a sign of an agenda. All other tribes and states voted across party, why must all Igbos vote one party one candidate. Igbos residing in the South East voted LP,PDP and APGA. Fine Igbos hate APC and Sanwo Olu what of Jandor the PDP candidate, the block votes from Igbos shows that there is an agenda against the Yoruba people. |
To all Igbos, I don't support thugs not allowing you guys to vote but put yourself in Yorubas shoes. The Rhodes Vivor guy might have actually won if you guys didn't play politics like you did. What happened to PDP why did you people abandon PDP for LP this time around? Why must all of you mobilize yourself to vote one party one candidate. Why hate Sanwo Olu so much is he not a Christian, what of Jandor why didn't some of you vote for him or is it because Rhodes Vivour is half Igbo? These block vote is why Yorubas believe there is an agenda. Every tribe distribute their votes across party from what have seen in the entire geopolitical zone, why do Igbos in Lagos vote one party if not having an agenda. |
Pascal9:Then tell Obi to go to the North and make alliance with the Hausa Fulanis. Attend Nikkai weddings of top politicians, donate to Muslims there. |
BeardedmeatR:Is Becky Anyanwu not an Igbo Woman, who was denied the right to contest because she was married to a Yoruba Man. |
abuhusna1:People like Orji Uzor Kalu and Rochas Okorocha are politicians that have alliance with the rest of Nigeria. Unfortunately, Majority of Igbo people do not like or support them so I doubt it will ever happen. |
Awolowo already said it that "Nigeria is a mere geographical location not a nation of people. Everyone knows SW is Yourba land, SE is Igbo land, NW is Hausa land etc. Only Igbos want to keep their own pepper soup and follow you to eat your own pepper soup. The same thing Azikiwe tried to do by becoming the Premier of the Western region while installing his stooge in person of Michael Okpara in the East as the Premier. Let's not deceive ourselves, Nigeria is not a nation, its a country of different nations. Nigeria is just like the UK where the English man rules England, the Scottish rule Scotland, you don't see a Scott interfering in English Politics and vice versa. Let everyone face their tents |
You already heard from a video in Abia where a LP election coordinator said they can afford to lose other states but Lagos is top priority and non- negotiable .All the way from Abia state and you say Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes- Vivor is not an Igbo project. |
Gentew:You already heard from a video in Abia where a LP election coordinator said they can afford to lose other states but Lagos is top priority and non- negotiable .All the way from Abia state and you say Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes- Vivor is not an Igbo project. |
ProphetM0hammad:Infact,Lagos is bordered by Ogun state in all directions. The only way you can get to Lagos without going through Ogun state is through the Atlantic. Most part of Lagos state was annexed from the western region. |
InyinyaAgbaOku:Make APGA a national party first then bring in a Yoruba candidate and see if he won't get votes in Lagos. Even if he doesn't win some Yorubas will vote for him unlike you guys you mobilise and vote in blocks for one party that has Igbo agenda colouration. Many Yorubas vote for PDP but Majority vote for APC. At least we vote across party nationally and state wise we don't vote one party blindly. Look at Osun and Oyo PDP won APC there. |
Throwback:You are right, if they don't have an agenda some would vote APC, some PDP and some LP. But because they need that block vote to usurp the Yoruba majority candidate to bring in their own half breed candidate, they decided to vote in blocks. They typically vote against the candidates the Yorubas prefer. They have never hidden their hatred towards APC. Even the region Jonathan came from have forgotten APC unseated their Son and have now started to vote APC but the hatred they have for APC is something else. |
Throwback:I noticed it, they mobilised fully and vote as a block. Yorubas and the Niger deltans will vote different candidates according to who they believe will be better for the state APC,PDP,LP but Igbos will Vote LP in block votes. |
People like Orji Uzo Kalu and Rochas Okorocha are the only Igbo Politicians who truly understand Politics of Nigeria in Igboland. The rest of the Politicians like Obi are very ignorant of the politics in Nigeria. To win an election you have to build bridges across all the regions especially the North. This is what Yorubas, Edos, ijaw do in Politics but you guys think on your own you can win elections. To the issue of Lagos, another huge voting block in Lagos is the Hausa- Fulanis but they go along with whichever Candidate the indigenous tribe go with. Most of them even go to the North to elect their leaders. It means they care for their home states and just come to Lagos to make a living but reverse is the case for Igbos they come to Lagos to not only do their business but want to use their voting block to Choose leaders who will have their own interest as against the interest of the indigenous people. They abandon their own states to rot to bad leaders and insecurities. |
fatdick:Are you serious? I knew they would hijack that party, just like they usually do when they head a company. |
Prenonjebose:I am not an illiterate, I have lived in Britain before and travel to the US occasionally, I just made a mistake with Obama for UK. I know where both belong. Nigeria is country of different tribes. I don't think this issue would be like this if some tribe was not making some unguarded statements. |
