what of Callistus, Juvenus, Philomenum,
Old school names. We're talking of the new school names like Miracle signs and wonders. |
blame it on tweeter! |
Silencer1: BOTH EQUALLY!that is why we have varying passion for them. Sometime thier "weaknesses " are just too flimsy and some "strenghts" break things too easily. |
Sammiejo: Have you considered that these parents may have just translated the native names to englishWhy? Is it that the child will turn oyibo or for people to recognise the authenticity of the child? Why? Why? Why? I can imagine my name translated to English: "Bamidele- follow me home". Then people will call me "follow" cos that sounds more religious. Bullshiiit! |
No be today! |
Most Fathers will hurt the child for his good but mums are known to manage children not wanting to hurt their feelings. Gues why mums have the upper hand with children. |
I really think parents should get more enlightened here, mostly by our churches. And it will interest you to note the category of people doing this naming thing, mostly the rich dont do that, maybe cos they have a mind of their own! |
The Bible says we should honor them both, muslims favour the mother after Allah. Some cultures supports the mother. Well on the average, the mother gets the most votes. But as an individual, whats your vote. For me,my father wins. Though from a polygamous home, my mum was never there for me. Abandoned me at 3 with my pop & step mams. Well,my father ensured i had a life . He did his best for me. I luv my father even though my mum has my luv tøo and i do my best for her too. Lets share opinions. . . . |

Its interesting to ñote that our local languages have provisions for these "prophetic/positive-confession" names. We have powerful names like Olamide,IBUKUN(blessing),GODIYA(thanksgiving), haske(light) ETC. And besides the englishised names will beta in our local tonges.. . Abi? |
From native names e.g Bandele to religious names e.g. David and now to "positive cönfession/prophetic names like favor, destiny, miracle, great, testimony, etc. Sounds funny to me. Soon it will be phrases & sentences to show how positive we are like "it is wel,God is good, i wil make it,etc We are taking everything to the extreme, civilisation & religion. We are gradualy phasing out those sweet native names like nkiruka, alake, ashake, Asabe, ndidi, etc. We are gradually killing our culture. Kai. |
Growing up in Celestial Church has made me see things, most memorably is a big metal cross(crucifix) in a perfume bottle. Beat that! |
Haba, respect the man and his opinion. Besides being christian means he is doing the right thing. Do you know how many leaders who kneel before dirty spiritualist? How leaders lick and eat disgusting substances? Besides,he could chose to kneel b4 an elderly person. What if that was his biological father? I mean Pastor Adeboye is an elder and our society still respects morals. |
In south Africa, the winner was 11yrs old. Maybe we'll soon a toddler winning. Up Africa. |
i love suprises! |
One man i wholeheartedly luv, like and want to be like is MR GEN CHIEF OLUSEGUN AREMU MATHEW OKIKIOLA OBASANJO. I believe history will judge him as the best ever leader in Africa. I luv this man! |
A lazy goverment,a lazy society. Our government thinks it is cheaper to just pay salaries than to create an enabling environment for job creation. The society is luving it,cheap pay. Well,if the environment is not labour friendly, the trend will continue. |
Hmmm. . . . . I will assume his ex is an illiterate that cant read or write and even she can, she'll probably never come accross this interview. Probably shes gone back in the village where they met. Well, just wondering why and how a sane man will utter such rubish. Bul-sit!(like my yoruba brother will put it). |
12. Blacklist some materials that you think could threaten ur childs sanity. 13. Once your child complains about a particular person, dont keep quiet about it. Take up the case immediately. It is well jare. |
@jidegirl12,you are welcome. God wil keep your kids safe for you. |
some information i got: 1.Warn your child never to sit on anyones lap no matter the situation, incuding uncles. 2.Avoid gettin dressd in front of your child oñce he/she is 2yrs old.always excuse them. 3.Screen your househelps for HIV/STDs and please treat them kindly as ur kids. 4.Never allow an adult to refer to your newborn as"my wife or husband''. 5.Never tempt your husband with your younger sister (else he'd say its the devil or her fault). 6.Whenever your child is playing with peers, try see what kinda of play. Kids abuse themselve you know! 7.Never force your child to visit any adult he/she is uncomfortable with. Also observe such adults. 8.Once a very lively child suddenly bcomes withdrawn you might need to patiently ask alot of questions. 9.If you dont them about intimacy, the society will teach them wrong values. 10.Go through cartoons, comics, movies before you let them do. 11.Teach your 3yrs old to wash her private parts properly herself and never allow anyone touch it including you. |
@jidegirl12,i can imagine you and your family. Nice experience there. I used to admire the muslims going for sunday programmes(ASSALLATU). It was a beautiful sight. I think parents need to create those beautiful moments for kids like you are doing. I had many sweet times like xmas-the only time we go to isaac boro park or a hotel pool side with neigbors.. . . |
@jidegirl12,i admire all that trust and courage. We really cant do more than we can. We do our best anyway and keep praying. Olorun lo nwo omo. . . abi? All is well jare. |
Now i am old, sundays only remind me of work on monday! |
On sunday. . . . . The day starts slow but picks up gradually. I remember how i dont forward to sundays cos i dont want to go the church, infact i was hoping there will be church holiday. But when i get to church eventualy, i'll never want to leave cos i will be having the play of my life. I remember how many times my people have gone home without. I wont even know until i see my pops red eyes when he comes back for me! |
While growing up,Sundays gave me the best wishes. I observed the family (polygamous) is mostly united and organised on sundays. A day our dad will assemble us all for our Daraprim (anti malarial drug) sunday-sunday medicine. A day we will all be in our white garment ready for church before we are cramped up in our beetle car. A day we must eat white rice and stew( with chicken sometimes). Fond memories! Share with us please. |
end time! |
Another thing is to look out for those guys who are so emotionally attached to our daughters/kids. Its starts with the emotion, then the touching before the bad thing. Even Incest starts as an innocent emotional attraction before it turns physical. Reminds me of the Bible where kingDavids son slept with his sister. Please ladies watchout. And guys, know how to tame that emotion, dont let it go too far. |
Yeah,afam4eva. I go with you. Do we truly trust our own selves? Like it is said, every human is capable of crime. Self discipline is key here. Know thyself. Know your weakness and learn to tame your dragon. Parents,we cant just suspect everyone but being cautious and prayerful is important please. |
chaircover: ^^^^^ women sexxualy abuse kids too!its quite crazy but true. No one is spared in this sin. Mothers, fathers, sons, dau. . . . . . The most annoying is when it involves an innocent baby. Imagine a child deflowered at less than 1yr by a sickie psycho. |
Also brings me to uncles who are so fund of their neices, bad things happen you know. Even fathers and daughters. Sometimes mothers too. It happens everyday and everywhere but society prefers we keep it secret cos it is a taboo. But someone must shout oo before it becomes an epidemic. God save our kids. |
