Dudes r just confusin' lyricism with flow dexterity
Where you been mahn??

We've got a load of really confused fellas in here . . . folks who confuse an MC with a good rapper . . . lyrics with flow/rhythm . . . even punchlines with mere abuses . . .  grin grin grin

but , Im i d only one tired on Em's Instruments fixationhuh
grin grin grin

It's just the usual . . . boast in public about sumn you're unhappy you don't have and make yourself happy . . .

I guess you also saw him rapping about his Instruments in the Westwood Freestyle ("manliness so big it's like elastic I tie it in a knot"wink . . . it's called self-delusion . . .

He's had enough stress to last two lifetimes - his mom, his wife, drugs, Mariah . . . won't you be kind enough to allow him wallow in 5 mins of self-delusion??  grin grin grin

Ibime,
none of those MC's can get to 8 bars. . . Other rappers would go into cardiac arrest if they even attempted! cheesy
Stop making a skyscraper out of a molehill . . .

If he likes, Eminem can spin 48 bars and 20 syllables or even more . . . it doesn't mean shiite - every rapper has a unique style . . .

When Papoose came out with "Alphabetic Slaughter", rappers and rap fans alike were scampering for cover . . . Nas has told a story from the end to the beginning . . . Biggie painted pictures more vivid than Mozart's painting with his storytelling . . . Rakim made and still makes internal rhymes seem like child's play . . .

Every good or even average rapper . . . from Rass Kass to Immortal Technique . . . to Krayzie Bone and Twista . . . all have their signature style . . .

Go listen to tracks like "Ebonics" (Big L) . . . even "Nobody Believes Me" (Styles P) . . . to mention a few . . . and check out real creativity . . .

In the long run . . . it's what you talk when you talk that matters.

AfroCynic:
Sauron, how can you want that line explained? Are you serious, that is simple but powerful, you know who Martin Luther was right? You also know who Rodney king is? You know they have the same last name yet they had such disparate impact on the black community, come on think fella!

I am starting to think you jock Eminem so much because dude is white,
Some fellas were born arse first . . . and ever since then, they been thinking through their arseholes . . . how can they ever have cognitive skills??

AfroCynic:
@Bamstyle, where have you been since, I have been tryna kick knowledge to these Eminem stans on my own. Imagine the cheek of Sauron, posting that nonsense that Em spat and comparing it to BT, sure BT's delivery was not as pretty as Em but dude made sense, he was rapping like a grown up. Em subject matter never grew up, cypher or no cypher.
I doff ma hat for you mami . . .

Abeg preach it oooo . . . what shall one not see on NL?? How can all that sun-baked heap of cow dung Eminem spat be compared to the words on marble from Black Thought?? I'm even very ok with Thought's delivery . . . ask any serious Hip Hop fan, they'll confirm that Thought never fails to deliver (especially when live performance is the issue) . . .

They keep saying cypha . . . and I agree you're allowed to spit anything when it's a cypha . . . but that ain't no excuse to come with chaff when others came with gold and silver . . . that's the difference between an MC and a rapper anyway . . .  grin

@da-whizkid

I remember we've talked about this before . . . I'll say it again - I don't hate on Eminem . . . he's one of ma fave rappers . . . it's only when Stans begin to hype him that I come across as hatin' on him . . .

To corroborate what I'm saying, I'm a fan of Nas . . . I've slugged it out with folks who tried to deride him . . . but in some thread where someone was saying he's bigger than either Biggie or Pac, I said no . . . what did the dude say?? I'm a Nas hater . . . smiley

One thing I want you to understand is this - when you look past sentiments and place things in a proper perspective, whatever haze before your eyes will clear off . . . that I dig Eminem does not mean he's 100% ok . . . he's good with wordplay and rhyming words together (even when they don't make sense) . . . but Stans prefer sonics to lyrics . . .

Eminem only says shocking things - c'est fini . . . he's got a truckload of misogynist, disgusting and homophobic themes . . . someone who'll tell us how he raped his mom or defiled his daughter or how big his manliness is?? Shock value, wordplay/rhymes (most times meaningless) are NOT my definition of a GREAT MC.

Look beyond all the noise and rhymes . . . 99% of the time, what is Eminem saying?? undecided

@Bamsyle

If you're going to talk bout my opinions then quote me and let's talk about this like responsible adults do.
For mess's sake don't you know what the word 'personal' means??
Ja kept dissing Em, but it only went PERSONAL when he mentioned his daughter. . Nas only replied to 50 because he went personal by dissing Kelis.
Quote you??

You know ya problem El?? You always start off your debates brilliantly . . . but at a point, you veer off tangent and begin to beat about the bush . . . where am I even gonna start quoting you from?? The point you're tryna make is ambiguous . . . I was just happy watching a lady take you and that tramp to the cleaners . . .

She said Ja was better in the Aftermath V Murder Inc beef . . . and I said, just because you had one personal line doesn't mean you won the beef.
My reference?? Jay-Z V QB. . . Jay-Z went personal by bringing out ballerina costumes and talking bout condoms and babyseats in one line.
You diss my lips, I forget it in five minutes, you talk about leaving condoms on my babyseat, it's stings forever. Now who took things personal?? Jay-Z . . . but who won the beef??
I ain't sure you can write an objective test properly . . . the answer is either A, B, C . . . or D . . . stick to an answer dude and stop talkin' from both sides of ya mouth . . . you're saying Nas won the beef . . . at the same time, Hov had more ish on Nas . . . even in Brooklyn, a lotta dudes would smack you in the mouth for saying that . . . some folks would tell ya that Hov's a better rapper than B.I.G, does that make it a fact?? I always tell folks, add "IMO" to some stuff you say . . . ya ish on who struck more 'personally' is ya opinion El, not a fact.

Of course some things are way beyond opinion . . . for example, only an idiot born with a manliness in his brain would say that Eminem spat anything of substance in that cypha . . . yes I agree it's a cypha . . . but that's not ya ticket to talk trash . . . if we must get real and compare, Em did not come close to Black Thought . . . read up the lyrics just posted by the tramp and tell me what Eminem was saying there?? In both delivery and lyrics, Black Thought (a relatively underground MC) murked Eminem . . . and that's official.

I always tell people, always take time to read previous posts, it helps . . . that's the main reason why all court cases are kept on record.
I read ya previous posts . . . and sorry - they made no sense . . . I already explained why . . .

And, talking about courts, have you ever attended a court session before?? You can't argue there the way you're arguing here . . .

Imagine that you're either Nas' or Hov's lawyer and you're arguing this way?? You either argue ma brief properly or bugger off . . . that's why the Bleep I hired you!

Your name deserves to be embedded in gold when Rap is the issue . . .

Watching you school deluded pundits on Hip Hop was sheer bliss . . .

You just echoed what real dudes in here have been telling 'em for eons . . .

Just look on and laugh away their ignorance . . . some thangs ain't worth it . . . I'll rather listen to a goat bleat than listen to someone who gets wet between the legs when Eminem spits crap . . . someone who believes Em's the illest thing to ever happen to Hip Hop . . . or folks who say Jay had more 'personal' hits than Nas in the "King of Nu York" ish . . .

BTW, Black Thought also topped the list for me on the freestyle schizto . . .

And did you see KRS-One?? That's what's called F-R-E-E-S-T-Y-L-E (off the top of the head) . . . it ain't what jabbers like Eminem bring to the table, tryin' to pull wool over the eyes watching him . . .

Seriously, The world is fucking small that you can know anything you are interested in in a matter of seconds. Barack Obama is not even that complex to study all it took me then was just typing his name on the google image search to see what he look like. Up till date I've not taken him serious cos like X I also believe they (politicians) are all birds of a feather.
Preach it . . .

Nor mind these self-righteous peops . . . some of them even claim Obama as their mom's uncle's dad's brother . . . one of these days, a random fellow from a Nigerian village would claim that he's Obama's stepson . . . how can a Maryland-born, Yonkers-raised Earl Simmons really be expected not to know Obama??

Bros. If you ask me any time that I ever felt bad being a Nigerian the most It will definitely be the time so many owambes were being organised in the country in the name of an Obama who did not want to have anything to do with them angry angry
Hehehe, trust Nigerians and their frenzied but short-lived excitement over stuff . . . I'm sure they're waiting for the next thing that'll make them borrow money for aso ebi . . . there was more celebration on the streetz of Naija than Kenya at that time . . . they think Obama gives a Bleep about them??

Here is part of the interview where he talked about Obama. He said he wasn't paying much attention later in the same interview. Sincerely speaking at the time this interview was conducted I haven't taken any serious interest (not that I've been interested in him since then though). Mine could be excused (I'm a Nigerian) but, seriously do you think DMX didn't know Obama or He just didn't care whoever is running for the US No 1 seat be it black, white, asian, hispanics, etc.
God bless your imam for imparting knowledge into you . . .

People just like to give out blames generously . . . meanwhile, I'm sure the OP and his harem never really thought much of Obama at that period . . . and now, over a year after the said interview was conducted, they sneak outta hiding and wanna behead DMX in their "holier than thou" fashion . . .

DMX is opinionated . . . he takes no BS . . . he doesn't give a hoot about the system . . . why crucify him for that??

Hehe, that you're Nigerian is even no excuse . . . didn't you see how folks were organizing owambe parties for and naming streetz after Obama in Nigeria?? They organized fund-raising events for him . . . some folks even went as far as naming their kids after him and designing aso ebi in his honour . . .

Nigerians are the most confused set of people God ever made . . . some folks went as far as borrowing money to attend his inauguration but ended up being deported fast . . .  grin grin grin

With the amount of garbage you keep stacking in here . . . I now declare that calling you a camel was a grave mistake . . . it's an insult to camels . . . you're a crossbreed between a dodo and a domestic turkey . . .  grin grin

do you understand the meaning of sarcasm - obviously not, sarcasm applies ONLY when you are aware of something but you FEIGN ignorance in order to humiliate, demean or a take a shot at someone or something,  the first question that DMX was asked was  "are you following the presidential race" his answer: "not at all" - now to most intelligent people that would indicate that he (DMX) was totally unaware of who was running therefore if he was ignorant as to the candidates how could he then make a sarcastic comment about something he had no knowledge of?
Nah I don't know what sarcasm is . . . please school me . . .

Close that tattered dictionary you're reading from and use simple logic here - the fact that X claimed not to be following the presidential race does not literally mean he had never heard about Obama . . . don't be so shallow-minded - when you read, pay attention not only to what's said but what's unsaid . . .

oh so DMX's ignorance should be  excused because Obama was not yet president -anyone with half a brain cell would understand the historical significance of a black person running for the highest office in the land and pay attention but to your mind its just "propaganda and nutin more"  - this is why our race is in the story state that its in because people like you show no interest in important  issues.
Hombre, all you need do is pay attention to details . . . you have a short attention span . . .

A lackwit of 6 years would understand what I'm saying here - X obviously ain't interested in the system . . . he won't make conscious efforts to know who the candidates are . . . he can only stumble upon them on his TV set, radio, newspapers, or other forms of the Media . . . Obama's popularity b4 the elections is nowhere near what it is now . . . today, X would have to be hiding under a rock in Malawi to claim he does not know who Obama is . . .

I'm tired of typing essays in here . . . did you get that?? I doubt that you did!!!

Your autism keeps coming to the fore . . . see ya reason for the state of ya race?? Did you vote for Obama?? Was that the first time a black person was running for office?? Why didn't you apply to be Jesse Jackson's campaign manager if it meant so much to you??

lol - how old are you 10? grin grin
At 28, you can't even use punctuation marks correctly . . . Obama's 7 year old daughter can communicate better than you do . . .  grin grin

you see your naivite is coming through loud and clear - interviews are very important particularly to people in the limelight like DMX because people like him are seen as icons to young black disenfrachised men therefore it is important that he sends out the right signals and doesnt come across as ignorant and self absorbed as he does in this interview.  For your information entertainers are mouthpieces and conduits of popular opinion and they are in very powerful positions as their words, thoughts and actions can influence significant numbers of people.  the likes of bob marley, john lennon, fela kuti have had huge influences on the minds of people particularly young people
You're a muppet . . .

Reading all the junk you have in here makes me wonder what your occupation is . . . you talk like a Masai hunter . . .  grin grin

This is what happens when folks like you refuse to go to school - you switch over to artistes to get education . . . how many times will I tell ya that I don't listen to rappers or any entertainer whatsoever to be educated?? Do you read books?? Watch TV?? These things ain't so costly . . . you can buy them second-hand . . .  grin grin

for every one of the above songs you have mentioned i can mention a couple more of his songs with offensive lyrics, here goes:

"Ama kill you"
"blown away"
"commin for ya"
"crime story"

and no i dont bother listening to rappers bragging about guns and violence as its complete and utter mind pollution, i dont listen to will smith either as i find his music bland but these sorry assed rappers pretending to be macho but exploiting weak minded individuals with all the misogyny and violence that they spew is to me doing the black community a gross disservice.
Mister cap28, what genre of music do you listen to?? Who's ya fave rapper?? Until you answer these questions, I have nothing to say yet on this part of ya post.

see my comments above - just in case you missed it rappers are modern day poets  and have a responsibilty to their listeners, using words like nigga, biatch, hoe shows them up for the low life scum that they are - they should be offering something better than that - music is a powerful medium and shoudl be used in a positive form ie  to convey useful information/knowledge  - a lot of young people are more likely to memorise and understand the lyrics to most popular rap artists songs than the words of shakespeare in julius caesar.
You belong to the category of folks who'll commit a crime and blame the devil when caught . . .

I guess you've never read Shakespeare saying "Many a good hanging prevents a bad marriage" . . . otherwise, you'll have hanged yaself, innit??

what do you mean "for how long are you gonna ride on the back of that! - when did obama assume office - it hasnt even been a year yet -he should be given time to repair the damage caused by 8 years of bush.  if you had the patience to put up with 8 years of mismanagement surely you can manage another 4 to see whether the damage can be repaired - so please dont get your knickers in a twist
This bushman just can't decipher simple things . . . must I write a textbook?? Obama's victory is good enough but what matters more is the legacy he leaves behind in office . . . how does that mean I'm criticizing him?? And X cannot be hanged cos he ain't interested in his election . . . you chose to grease ya flagpole for Obama, X chooses not to . . . it's all about choices, simple!!!

X is a suffix used by members of the nation of islam  to replace their former slave names eg Malcolm X used the x suffix to replace his "slave name" Little. - you refer to DMX as "X" which  could erroneously lead people to beleive that he is a member of the nation of islam which clearly he isnt based on his ignorant statements about Obama and his failure to understand and accept his own african ancestry.
Who needs the balderdash you just spewed there?? Go play with ya third leg or sumn if you're idle and stop playing Michelle Obama here . . .

Jeez . . . are you a camel??

A dude gives a sarcastic reply to a question thrown at him during an interview . . . on an issue he obviously doesn't care about . . . and you wanna hang yourself cos of it?? You are obviously not gifted in what they call "reading between the lines" . . .

And BTW, when was the interview conducted?? March 2008 - who was Obama then?? And you need to connect that to the fact that X ain't interested in politics . . . he sees the whole system as propaganda and nutin more . . . quit ya myopic view and see things from a dispassionate angle . . .

secondly even if we are to accept that he is a self obsessed idiot who has no time to care about what goes on around him why would he brazenly and openly demonstrate this by admitting it publicly, you've got to be kidding me if you're trying to defend this fool
You need to beg ya high school teacher for five knocks on the head for spewing such drivel . . .

What's an interview?? It's a time for some up, close and personal stuff . . . X gave straight-from-the-heart answers . . . and you wanna crucify him for that?? What's wrong with having opinions and being honest about them?? You're obviously a fan of lies - you're one of those who'll applaud an obviously emaciated President Yar'Adua when he tells you that he's fit as a fiddle . . .

whats intelligent about this guy, how meaningful are the lyrics to any of his songs, the last time i checked he was advocating murder and violence whats intelligent about that, you must be having a laugh mate.
This is one of the most disgusting pieces of bullcrap I've ever read from a member of the homo sapiens . . .

Prayer (I-III), Ready To Meet Him, Lord Gimme A Sign, Angel, Slippin' - to name a few . . . what are those about??

So, if an artiste tells you in a song to "kill yourself", you'll put ya finger to the trigger and pull?? The fact that you chose to become an armed robber ain't nobody's fault . . . it's ya choice . . . name ya best rapper and tell me he doesn't rap about gunz and violence?? this guy is about as deep as a paddling pool - all he cares about is exploiting and brainwashing people like you who cant think for themselves , he's laughing all the way to the bank on the back of people like you dude.
You're just too lazy to put ya sense to work . . . I don't listen to rap to get educated or informed, you do. What's the relevance of books and the media??

and btw first african american president IS an acheivement - it might not put food on the tables of most black people in america but it sure as hell is giving a lot of racist whites sleepless nights and a lot of blacks a psychological boost.
Being first Afro-American President is an achievement . . . but for how long are you gonna ride on the back of that?? Reasonable dudes are now looking beyond that and trying to concentrate on Obama's achievements in office . . . how old are you?? 28?? How do you rate ya life's achievements?? By going back in time - 28 years ago when you were born??

oh and btw please dont call him X as people might think he subscribes to the teachings of the nation of islam who recognise their african ancestry not this brainwashed slave who doesnt even understand that all black people are africans.
What relevance does this part of ya post bear to the topic??

Nairaland

It offers a dynamic range of topics and issues - a prototype disneyland for all-comers . . . any and every comer can have a bite at the cherry - from movies to music, autos, career talk, religion, sports and what have you . . . and again, though not primarily so, it can also serve as a social networking site . . .

That's interesting.

Facebook is primarily for social networking, albeit with some intermittent flashes of information . . . 98% of activities on fb can be conveniently labelled "Networking" . . .

And that's pretty boring.

PSquare have always been rather weak with regards to the content and quality of their music,
They however have been able to use their dance moves, great videos and understanding of the Nigerian Market to use and it has worked marvelously for them.

Having said that we all know that they have a rather annoying habit of copying other artistes and not been very original
Very true.

Eminem murdered zilch on "Forever".

And it's even drudgery to regard the track as a competition . . . let alone a battle.

It's like pitching John Travolta against Morris Chestnut . . . and expect a face-off . . .

Relatively, one would expect Eminem's verse to swallow the other 3 like Aaron's rod did those of the Egyptian sorcerers . . . shoulda been a walkover . . . but what did we get?? Some fast-paced bars and nutin more . . .

The mere fact that Stans have to burst a vessel . . . just to show us how Eminem owned a joint in which Drake, Kanye, and Weezy were featured . . . clearly reveals that Eminem has degenerated . . .

We don't have to look through a microscope to see it . . . the difference oughtta be clearer than noonday.

@Ibime

Had to do this in a hurry . . .

Mr Sunny Delight, hawk ya beverage offline / to kids or dumb minds
What you spit are soft lines / meant for soft minds / this ain't no "bump 'n' grind"

When I wanna unwind / I read your sh*t and pop wines
Ya wack gin and juice rhymes / don't even elevate minds
Mo'fucka, rappin' like ya voice is an intestine

Hopeless 'n' dopeless, play catch up with me
Catch me in the park swoopin' up on one of ya kids

My bars?? I spit 'em more than prisons / mystical when you listen
Like stars they glisten / bullets streak past ya ear and leave you whistlin'

You can't understand it / ya brain's on a standstill
A layer of insulation missin' in your attic
And you need another brain to even make a half-wit!

For once you're right - ma talent is hard to find
When it shines, you're blind but it's bringing facts to minds

Word to 'Smith, kudos cos you gumped this kid / but your sword you sheathed
When he had no words to spit / You should hide your face 'bime what a nerd you is
Lemme rub ya ego kid - yo you sick you ill / so sick, Dr Frabz keeps on givin' you pills

It's ya weak heart / and it's dark in the streets Arrow / your heart beats hard/
Momma says "where you still at"?? / run to her, bwoy, tell her quickly "I hit ya"

Shitzofrenic / gonna need 'em medics / to save you, razor to your face I shave you
I'll advise you - put your hands in a cattle / that's the only ass you get so better make it rattle!

@ Bamysle, i'm sure the smiley u put after the malcolm x line means you said it on the lighter side of things.
Well, we ain't fighting, are we??  cheesy

And according to the topic 'forever' how does that gel, really?
Malcolm X 'lives' forever, doesn't he??  tongue

Eminem puts time into writing his lyrics, when you listen you know. Some lines in that track even had dual meanings.
I know . . . but on the real tip, Eminem has a knack for wordplay and rhymes . . . for the sake of rhyme, a typical Eminem would spit:

so then letz go there
oh damn yes oh dear

Even if it means nada.

But I ain't taking nutin from the dude . . . and not to lose focus of the subject, all I'm saying is - when you pit Eminem's verse against the others, I don't see nutin that'll make anyone say he "murdered" them . . . and of course he's a better rapper than them all . . .

But on this track, he killed zilch.

da-whizkid:
@Bamsyle, Most times i respekt U bt definitely nt times u obviously hate on Eminem. How the hell u gon say Eminem didn't have the best flow on Foreverhuh I had to put the song on repeat like 5times if i cud undastand wat u meant. Look @ your definition of Flow, "cadence", "timing" and "rhythm", rite? Which among Drake, Wayne and Kanye got these more than Shadyhuh
Jeez . . . I ain't hatin' on Eminem.

If you read my comments carefully, you'll see me giving him props for some things . . . but giving him knocks for others . . . haterz don't do that.

Em's one of ma fave rappers . . . I prolly sound like I don't like him when Stans over-hype him . . .

On "flow", to each his own . . . whether he raps fast or slow, you'll recognize a rapper with good flows by those indices . . . but on this track, Eminem simply rapped the fastest . . . like he wanna break Twista's record or sumn . . . that, to me, does not mean he had the best flow . . .

And about your off topic Issue, all Rappers rap off topic nowadays. Is it me or Jay Z Rap on Rihanna's Umbrella was Wathuh Give me your fav Rapper(s), I'l give u a hand ful of song he/she Rapped Off-Topic. Almost Everytime Jay Z raps about his Fame, Money, B@>*hes and Success n it is Great, Eminem Chooses to Horror theme to Rap about n it nw Stereotype n Boring.WTFhuh And on lyrics, wtf is "label owners want my name bside the X like Malcolm" and "killing all this Rappers, u wud swear i had a Hitlist"huh Those r on M.I's level. M.I even got more decent Punches, No mata wat u base your judgement on, Eminem MURDERED these Rappers on Forever. Bsides A poll was drawn n Eminem won it Hands down. Whether U like it or not, Eminem already have the Crown. NO CONTEST.
You can't compare Jay-Z in "Umbrella" with a track that's supposed to be like "Classic" (Rakim, Nas, Kanye, KRS) . . .

It's like an all-star thingy . . . and Rihanna is a diva . . . rappers are expected to bring lyrical ingenuity to the table.

And oh well, I said it - the Malcolm X line is no stand-out line . . . but it bears more relevance/significance to the song than Eminem's horror theme . . .

Bamsyle is a phocking disgrace, biting rhymes like "ya moms was a waitress at the last supper" and Santa Claus "ho ho ho" lines.

All his punchlines are simply wack, and lewd.

Thats what you get when you learn ya whole battle style from 2Pac.

Bamsyle is always the first to shout everyone down when discussing HipHop, but evidence shows that this nucca is wack!  grin grin grin
grin grin grin

Idiot, like I didn't know you and your retarded brother have been eagerly waiting for me to drop sumn in the battle thread so y'all can stick your rotten noses in it . . .

Of course I ain't a netcee . . . I don't deceive myself . . . I only came here to prove a point - Bamsyle ain't never scared to battle no one . . . I can go weight for weight and pound for pound . . . peace or war - choose any side of Bamsyle you like . . .

Unlike you fools here, I make use of my precious time to do more meaningful things . . . netcees?? Netcees my darling foot - if you've got verses, book studio time and record them . . . quit posting sh*t that can't move 2 units in the market . . .

What else should I expect Ibime and his conceited twinny to say?? That Bamsyle won?? Of course not - better to expect folks shouting "Jesus is Lord" on the streets of Saudi Arabia . . .

Bamsyle is this, Bamsyle is that . . . when will y'all quit dogging Bamsyle's moves?? And Ibime is mad cos Bamsyle analyses/acts like a judge when Hip Hop is the issue . . . on the field of play, are judges always players??

Y'all live off Bamsyle's sh*t . . . go get a life you tykes . . .  grin grin grin
