And Senavoe was the Punchline of the whole cypha . . . the way dude kept grabbin' his crotch, he must've been trying hard to control some build-up of urine in his bladder . . .

Modenine trumped e'rrone in that cypha . . . the mere attitude and theatrics with which he delivered the "last time I was out-rhymed" line was the highlight of the shiznit.

Saucekid? Dude tried with the delivery . . . I kinda expected less (dunno why) but he delivered.

Ice Prince?? That wasn't a Jimmy Jatt Jump Off thingy! Should've been better . . .

MI?? Same ol' same . . . all's been said.

Naeto C was the low point of the show . . . dude oughtta have been replaced with Terry tha Rapman.

Music/Radio / Re: Xo_senavoe Vs Mode9 :::::: Who Is Lyrically Better? by Bamsyle2(m): 9:32am On May 10, 2011
There's nutin heated here, this na primaries compared to what peops did to AQ in another thread . . . grin

It's a simple discussion . . . XO dope?? Yeah.

Compared to Modenine?? Nah . . . DBR mentioned MI, me even thinks he's better compared to someone like Magnito, that's another dope MC.
Music/Radio / Re: Kanye West Vs. Eminem by Bamsyle2(m): 7:22pm On Apr 21, 2011
Not comparing the albums but rap-wise, Eminem beats Kanye handz down, legz up, heads apart . . . belly flat.

They ain't even close to being mates.
Music/Radio / Re: Kenny Ogungbe Set To Release His First Album by Bamsyle2(m): 9:05am On Apr 20, 2011
No big deal . . . he might just put out a Kennis Music all-stars album with him screaming "World Famous" intermittently between the vocals . . .

Last time I checked, "The Definition" was Jimmy Jatt's album.

^^Lighten up bruv . . . grin

If our scope is limited to Rap only, Rugged is a better rapper than Eedris . . . his "Thy Album Come" remains one of the best rap albums ever to emerge from Africa . . . but when you look at the bigger picture Music-wise, Eedris churns out heavy tunes+rhythm . . . if only he could get his lyrics right, he'll be contending for a Top 10 spot amongst Naija rappers.

Comparing Eedris and Rugged is like comparing Kanye West and Xzibit . . . the former makes better music overall, the latter is the better rapper.
Music/Radio / Re: Eedris Abdulkareem, A Super Lyricist And Rap Vet by Bamsyle2(m): 5:35pm On Apr 05, 2011
Eedris may not be a super lyricist . . . no, he was not even a lyricist . . . but he made good music back in the days, never mind the "figidy migidy" or wonder bout the relationship between 'foofoo' and 'dudu' . . .

His songs may not focus on lyrics, but he had an overall melodious and rhythmical style . . . plus a strong voice to deliver it.

You might disagree bout him being a legend, but you can't deny the fact that he's deserving of that title . . .

Music-wise (bar rap only), Eedris is much better than the Ruggedman that criticized him - this might be one of the most controversial statements I'll ever make on Nl . . . anyone can quote me on this one.

slimshay:

Kushe you make some good points but sadly that horse has been beaten, drawn, quartered and boiled in oil. Hence I'll leave it to rest.

Slim, fact is Kushe made a lotta brilliant points, although the thrust of his argument ain't the focus of this thread, I had to agree with him . . . Rap Music has evolved, and the so-called 'hip hop heads' screaming "keep it real" are same guys that'll be laughing in your face when the chips are down.

I respect all artistes if they ain't wack - whether they're underground or mainstream . . . fact is, just be dope (lyrically) or sound dope (rhythmically) . . . Rap is Music.

The crux of the matter is this, MI messed up a freestyle session. The defense is that 'So what? Freestyling isn't all that'

I don't have a prob with folks saying "MI messed up a freestyle session" . . . but I have an issue with peops translating that to mean "MI is wack", just the same way I don't believe that the best rappers are battle rappers. Assignment - all the 'hip hop heads' in the house should go dig up their dope rappers' records - they all messed up at some point of their career.

For the avoidance of doubt I repeat just as some knowledgeable people than myself on here have said: FREESTYLING IS A VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF HIPHOP.

I agree . . .

But your inability to freestyle takes nutin away from your CV as a rapper . . . it might make your career a wee bit more impressive, but it doesn't mean you're a dope rapper. Though arguable, I regard Jin as a "Top 3" freestyle rapper, but I'm yet to see him in any Top 50 Greatest or Best Rappers List.

Giving 2pac as an example to the contrary is quite the fallacy. I'll leave it at that, because even my person sef talk am. Bam whaitido man wink

Hehe, I didn't even mention Pac . . . of course "Pac" and "freestyle" don't go together like Bonny n Clyde. I'll never bring in Pac to disprove freestyles . . . I just agreed with some comment about Pac being the greatest, though not a freestyler.

Letz even forget all that, my case is simple - 90-sumn% of rappers are spitting pre-written verses and calling 'em freestyles . . . I recognize a true freestyle verse when I hear it . . . I know how it comes out when being performed . . . and I'm afraid just a handful of catz do it.

i agree with those who say that spitting totally of the dome is another level entirely but that does not take anything away from the ones that cannot  do it and yea anyone with half a brain can write decent lines but then we can always sift the decent from the DOPE.

yoji:

Nice try, Tupac was'nt a freestyler but is arguable d greatest rapper ever.

Gbam!!!

A lot of folks are easily deceived with this 'freestyle' thingy . . . not saying there ain't no true freestylers though but if you've ever attempted to rap before, you'll understand that 90% of the so-called 'freestyles' are actually pre-written verses spat to fit the beat and deceive folks into believing that they were spat on-the-spot.

If you're rapper, you'll know that once you get the flow of your verses right, you can spit it to any beat (even Fuji, Juju, Salsa, Merengue or Akpala) . . . like 04kaa noted, all you need to do when 'freestyling' those verses is to chip in a few words on-the-spot (like the DJ's name and some other things around you) and connect them to your pre-written lines . . . and it's a wrap.

Shey because una sabi MI's and Ice Prince's lines b4?? Na im make all of una dey talk say them nor fit freestyle?? I can bet ma bottom dollar that if they were unknown rappers, they'll have spat lines off their unknown mixtapes/albums that night and all of una go dey scream "dope rappers" . . .

I am cock-sure that Lynxx and his 'dope freestyler colleagues' spat pre-written lines . . . wait for their albums.

@Thread

Like some folks have already noted, freestyle might add to your CV but lack of it takes nutin away from your CV either . . . the best freestylers ain't the best rappers.

I somewhat agree that em Choc Boiz should've been more tactful though.

Time does change, but the music it remains the same
I hit em with the music from the slaves
Oh my goodness, what my ancestors gave
I don't want u to think I don't know
They taught me how to reach deep down and touch the soul
Without my music, where would I be
You taught me how to cry and still remain a G
You keep a lot of soldiers at ease
And together the next level proceed

Ok, Pac was the king of emotions and has/had the greatest influence but if you are asking me how lyrically, Nas is better than 2pac. . . .

King of emotions?? How much of a straight jacket can you lot put on Pac?? Some others would say he was all about violence and bla bla . . . why not just confess that Pac was a round/developed character and go to bed tongue

He had the greatest influence (also called legacy) . . . that's why he's the G.O.A.T - he wasn't heavily into metas, punchlines and all but he influenced many other rappers by what he said in his tracks. Nas is a legend and he weaves convoluted words but I don't see how that makes him more lyrical than Pac.

yawn, am sleepy. Chickening out, you win. It was only my opinion anyways.

Aiight, sleep on . . . this wasn't about me wanting to win anyways, and I agree it was your opinion but I totally disagree with it.
Music/Radio / Re: Is Biggie Really The Greatest? by Bamsyle2(m): 10:13am On Mar 16, 2011
^^I've not even started a debate withcha and you're already getting all defensive . . .

If what I said about Pac flew over your head, you need to read it again and understand before coming here to blab.

Lyrics and flow?? How did Nas ace Pac in lyrics and flow?? Maybe you're one of those that believe Pac is overrated - won't even argue that with you . . . or that he was always talkin' bout gunz n weed . . . again, stick to ya 'pinion.

Just make a decent attempt at an analysis/analogy of both rappers and maybe I can know what kinda reply to give you.
