Now let me say a word or two on the moral debate. . .

Do I think Rugged is wrong for releasing the tapes?? Yep . . . should he regret it?? Hell no.

He clearly made the choice from the beginning . . . he made it clear . . . he'll rather be 'there goes the guy that slept with his dancers and snitched on his friend' than 'there goes the guy that slept with his friend's wife'.
You say two wrongs don't make a right, who says your moral beliefs are better than his??
Osama has his moral justification for believing that all Americans must be killed.

No one is saying RM should regret it . . . we're just saying it is wrong.

At the end of the day, he's been vindicated on what he considers important . . . we all have one value or the other which we'll be willing to leak a phone conversation for . . . this is his.
Vindicated how?? "Vindication" must mean sumn else in your own dictionary grin grin

Hehehe . . how is that arguing blindly?? Don't make analogies relating the UK legal system when I'm around, if you're going to, come with valid facts.
I don't get it, is this your obiter explaining to me why I shouldn't argue bout this?? cheesy
Why don't you just take a deep breath and read the rest of ma comments (if you're blessed with the patience this time)??

UK Legal System?? I've written sundry professional exams on it so quit sounding like it's sumn ethereal.

In a country where your alleged disrespect for the moral code has caused you to get hate mail, threaten your right to livelihood, led  and brought threats of harm to a friend . . . if this isn't a special circumstance, then what is?? The law takes all that into consideration.
You must think that the law court is a place where you can take every case of hatred, jealousy, and hostility to.

So, if in your words, I "send hate mail to RM, which threatens his right to livelihood", he can run to court and seek justice?? Like all of those don’t happen regularly on Facebook?? You must be the fellow that thanked Goodluck for bringing Facebook to humanity . . . grin grin grin

If that was the case, there’ll be about 100,000,000,000 of such cases in court today . . . the court is not a playground for pettiness and frivolities.
Plus, if RM wanted to take the matter to court, he’ll be suing those making the comments on Facebook and not 9ice, so how does 9ice get into the picture??

9ice cannot dare take this to court anyway . . . he already more or less said Ruggedman slept with his dancers, he that comes into equity must come with clean hands.
I’m saying if 9ice had pressed charges as his first and only reaction to the phone convo, he’ll have had a good case . . . and even now, he can still press charges - he’s the plaintiff, let RM defend himself by saying 9ice has had his pound of flesh . . . and the courts will decide the case on its merits.

Yep . . . my legal foundation is from the UK, strictest privacy laws in the world . . . I'm on my Kanye, you can't tell me nothing. tongue tongue
And you had the guts to say privacy laws in the UK are not strong?? Why’re you lying?? It ain’t a shame to admit that you studied in Burundi grin grin grin
Music/RadioRe: Ruggedman’s Untouchable Skit At Modenine by Bamsyle2(m): 12:29am On Jan 09, 2011
Hear say is perfectly admissible in civil cases . . . and this isn't hearsay . . . the evidence is on Facebook (hearsay is trying to prove what people thought, he'll bring witnesses/evidence to prove what people said) I would go into this but I don't want to bore anyone.
Hear yourself - “Hearsay is perfectly admissible/this isn’t hearsay” . . . which one of those are you sticking to??

Hearsay is inadmissible in civil/criminal cases . . . the courts might allow you to state your hearsay case for sake of fair hearing . . . what happens to your evidence thereafter is what’s important here . . . it gets thrown outta the window as little or no weight is attached to it.

Lord have mercy . . . evidence on Facebook?? We’re saying evidence that links RM to the act of sleeping with his friend’s wife . . . you’re referring to comments being made on Facebook?? So if I organize 100 folks to make comments on Facebook alleging that RM is a homosexual, RM can head to court on the basis of such ‘evidence’ to exonerate himself??

You’ll make a woeful lawyer.
Music/RadioRe: Ruggedman’s Untouchable Skit At Modenine by Bamsyle2(m): 12:27am On Jan 09, 2011
And then, data protection is not even strong in the UK/US, why?? Freedom of Information Act 2000. . . you know, that reason why Assange is still a free man?? As I said, seek legal advice. My point is . . . you said the intrusion of privacy is always wrong, I'm saying the law allows it in some cases, so it's not some grave offence, it's a qualified right, and you can't teach me the law better than Elliot can, my lecturers wrote your textbooks. grin grin
Data Protection not strong in the UK/US?? The lie of the millennium.

How can you compare the Data Protection Act 1998 to FOI 2000?? The DPA applies to all individuals and organizations . . . the FOI applies to public authorities and seeks to allow people have general access to information held by public authorities . . . even if the purport of the UK Act flies over your head, that of Nigeria should not - recently there was general outcry by public authorities against the FOI Bill being passed into law in Nigeria . . . it was a major item in the news . . . every carpenter, plumber and mechanic knew about it.

And can you read the part of my post where I said you do not intrude privacy except in special circumstances?? How can you bring Assange into this?? A journalist . . . a journalist who published information about extrajudicial killings and crimes on Wikileak?? Even if you have not read about the exceptions to the general rule, does your sixth sense not tell you that investigation of a CRIMINAL CASE such as murder is a special circumstance?? How do you lump that with publishing a private convo over unfounded/spurious rumours about sex??

Abeg talk sensibly Eldee or go back to the Law School . . . you’re not arguing with Tumfulu here.
Music/RadioRe: Ruggedman’s Untouchable Skit At Modenine by Bamsyle2(m): 12:26am On Jan 09, 2011
First of all, it's not a Data protection issue, it's a personal right to privacy issue . . . it deals with individuals not organisations . . . get legal advice.
“Data Protection”, “Personal Right to Privacy” . . . six and half a dozen.

And who told you that Data Protection is all about organizations?? The UK DP Act (of 1998 if you must know) applies to both individuals and organizations . . . one of its precepts is that you do not have the right to process/deal with anyone’s personal data without their consent having been legally and fairly obtained . . . publishing someone’s private convo without obtaining his consent is an example.

@Bamsyle

You know I don't answer long posts . . . I like when people get straight to the point with debates, but why will you bring the English legal system into this, no offence, but UK Law, stay out of it.
huh huh

How did I bring the UK Legal System into this?? So, my simple/passing analogy of saying "if it was in the UK" translates to me bringing the "English Legal System" into it?? Eldee stop arguing blindly abeg.

You cannot answer long posts . . . you chose to dwell extensively on just a minor fraction of the points raised in ma post . . . and proceeded to write a homiletic on it . . . what do you call that??

WTF??  shocked shocked

Now I have to reply in parts . . .

I've not been tempted to get into this on this thread till now.
Yeah, don't you always get tickled when Bamsyle steps on da scene?? tongue

You listed point above that BrownSuga clearly answered, now that's not my main concern . . . even the law allows this intrusion, nay, invasion of privacy in some cases grin grin . . . and if you wanna go moral, there's not one valid argument.
Which laws??

I'm not sure you ever heard of the term "Hearsay" . . . which laws allow you to go make an LP over some unfounded rumour?? Even the courts have no regard for Hearsay . . . they throw it outta the window.

And that's in Nigeria, where the laws are a bit more relaxed . . . in some countries like UK and US where Data Protection principles are very grave issues, you could spend the rest of your life behind bars tryna be like RM.

It's like a case of you cheating on your girlfriend and she finds evidence on your phone . . . your can shout from now till next year about privacy, her vindication trumps whatever claim you had.
The fact that you can even compare RM/9ice’s scenario with this shows how much you’re getting thangs twisted.

A girlfriend/boyfriend relationship is different from a 9ice/RM friendship (except you wanna tell us what we don’t know) . . . your privacy is lessened in an erotic relationship . . . and some things like checking your partner’s phone log or text messages are allowed/understandable.

Despite Nigeria’s relatively relaxed position on data protection, you think 9ice doesn’t have a valid case if he decides to press charges against RM?? You don’t sacrifice someone’s privacy except in very special circumstances (and unfortunately, this situation does not qualify) - it’s there in the Constitution.

Ruggedman sacrificed his 'friendship' with 9ice to save his reputation . . . objective view, it was a reasonable step to take, he got what he wanted. He'd rather you called him a snitch than 'that guy that shags his friend's wife' . . . personal values.
You’re wrong. Bugging your convo with anyone and posting it on the internet in a bid to clear some very much unfounded rumour is not a smart move. You might say that 9ice was also lax on his part . . . but Rugged was also overzealous.

Humans will always peddle rumours . . . 9ice sang about his friend boning his girl (not even his wife) . . . and Cabasa, 2face, etc were all named in the rumour . . . why didn’t they all go gung ho on 9ice?? So everytime some rumour makes the mills about Rugged, he’ll bug a convo or call a press conference?? Some things are not just worth the drama.

He got nada from that move . . . he’s still a prime suspect in the eyes of many people who’re witnessing the drama . . . plus, why didn’t he ‘clear the air’ over him sleeping with his dancers?? He’s still ‘that guy that shags his dancers’ tongue

'Nay' ko . . .nigga is on sum Deeper Life pastor ish, thou art on a long thing. grin grin
Obviously, you’re the Deeper Lifer here . . . that word is as common as it can get . . . used by the Shakespears, Wole Soyinkas and Goodluck Jonathans of this world grin grin

I just breathed some life into your drab vocabulary, oi?? You should thank me tongue

You ill-mannered illiterate grin grin grin

BrOwn*Suga:
see these people blaming rm for leaking the info convo, what would you have him do? If you listen to that convo carefuly you will see that 9ice was not ready to do anything about the rumour.
Didnt you listen to the fone convo? 9ice said he doesnt have time and can't can ANYTHING to stop the rumour
I'm not gonna deny that 9ice sounded uncooperative during that convo . . . but releasing a verbatim account of it was not a smart move I tell ya, no matter which way you're gonna look at it.

Perhaps 9ice was irked at RM's suggestion to go hold a press conference over some unfounded rumour . . . one may never know. But then, that's why I stated the last option RM could've taken up there - go get your publicist/call a press conference or sumn to inform the world that you just spoke to 9ice and he said he wasn't referring to you.

The BOP then shifts to 9ice . . . fans would keep pressurizing him for an answer . . . critics would keep chiding him for making spurious allegations . . . chances are he'll come out and SAY SUMN.
Music/RadioRe: Ruggedman’s Untouchable Skit At Modenine by Bamsyle2(m): 7:40pm On Jan 07, 2011
da-whizkid:
And i ask one simple question. . . "if u think RM leaking of that priv8 convo is bit.c.hy and awful like it's really is, What 'better' way can u profer to him to clear the rumor?"
1. RM coulda performed "Ruggedy Baba" at any of his shows, with him and 9ice on stage
2. RM coulda featured 9ice on another hook off any of his upcoming tracks/singles
3. RM coulda appeared in photo shoots at events with 9ice in any of the soft-sell tabloids
4. RM coulda exchanged mails publicly with 9ice on Facebook, Twitter (or any of 'em other social networking forums) on the issue
5. RM coulda simply given an account of the phone convo instead of releasing the convo itself - verbatim. He coulda reported that he actually spoke to 9ice and 9ice denied it (Burden of Proof then shifts to 9ice to confirm/refute)

Not tryna sound sanctimonious bout the whole issue, but methinks releasing that phone convo is just not right . . . it's an intrusion, nay, invasion of privacy.

And yeah, we might argue that RM also had sumn to lose (his reputation, goodwill) but two wrongs never make a right.

In the final analysis, what did the bugged phone convo achieve?? It simply deepened the bitterness between the duo and failed to clear the air . . . fans on either divide continue to believe what they wanna.

Maybe I'm just a die-hard addict of the "6 million ways to die" theory . . . but there are always many means of getting to an end . . . choosing the smartest and least problematic one is the first step towards this.

9ice became popular after Gongo Aso right?
If we're to consider "external factors" as being canvassed by some schools of thought here, "Make Dem Talk" did more for 9ice than what "Ruggedy Baba" did . . .

He not only became more popular with that song, he put a seal on the signature style he had carved out with "Little Money" - catchy hooks laced with hardcore proverbs . . . it was on the strength of the goodwill 9ice enjoyed on that song that Rugged invited him.

It's preposterous for anyone to say Rugged made 9ice, who already had an album with hits such as "Little Money" and "Pass Me The Ganja", as well as an appearance on 2shotz' hit "Make Them Talk" before featuring on Rugged's track . . .

I laugh everytime people see every move of Rugged's as one aimed at "saving the industry" or "helping the upcoming" . . . Ruggedman is a very good businessman (prolly the "tribe" thingy) . . . he needed someone to give him a hit hook, and going by 9ice's antecedents, he was apt for that task . . . you think Rugged picked 9ice for that song cos he wanted to "make him"??

Think again.

Every artiste has a big break in his career . . . 9ice's big break was "Gongo Aso" . . . the funny thing is of all of 9ice's hit songs, my best till date remains "Little Money" . . . the track sh*ts on every other track I've heard him on - lyrically and technically.

Every journey starts with a small step . . . IMO, 9ice became big right from the days of Little Money (that was no small song, it enjoyed heavy rotation on radio stations) . . . he only needed hard work and perseverance to get bigger . . . and by remaining consistent (a la "Make Dem Talk", "Ruggedy Baba", "Gongo Aso" . . . he got the much deserved break.

Happy New Year Slimshay . . . you're sooooo on point.
