The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says the scarcity of petrol is an attempt to sabotage the celebration of Christmas.
In the last three weeks, Nigerians have been finding it difficult to get petroleum products.
In a statement on Saturday, Kwamkur Samuel, director legal and public affairs, wondered why the scarcity of the petroleum products occurred during the Christmas celebration.
Samuel called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take measures to ensure that the product is made available.
“CAN is worried about the resurfacing of long queues at filling stations in Nigeria, after several increases in fuel price to ensure the availability of the product to all citizens,” the statement read.

“We are not only concerned that this seeming artificial scarcity happens mostly during Christmas period. We are also disturbed that everything is looking like an attempt to deliberately sabotage the celebration of Christmas by some people.
“We wonder why queues would suddenly resurface after all assurances and steps have been taken towards constant availability of petroleum product.
“We want to call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the ministry of petroleum and other relevant stakeholders to take decisive measures towards ensuring that fuel is made available and accessible to all citizens within the shortest possible time at a controlled price.”
He said the failure of government to take measures against saboteurs is unacceptable to the church.
“Christmas season does not just happen; it is a worldwide annual celebration that is known to everyone. For authorities to behave like the season came suddenly and fail to take necessary measures to control the activities of saboteurs is unacceptable to the Church,” he said.
“We deeply view the negligence of relevant authorities to ensure fuel availability to citizens as deliberate and an attempt to exploit the citizens and particularly Christians who travel distances for the celebration.
“As we celebrate, let us all be security-conscious and remember the persecuted church in Adamawa, Kaduna, Borno and all other parts of Nigeria in our prayers and gifts.
“May we never forget to celebrate this Christmas with the reason for the season — the birth of the saviour of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord. Merry Christmas to all Nigerians and a prosperous New Year.”
Sometimes I wonder what CAN stands for. Are they spiritual wing of PDP? Did anyone hear them talk when we had fuel scarcity during GEJ or OBJ. Instead of being our guardians, they are misleading us. You guys are not informed and sometimes, it amazes me when you make comment on what they know nothing about. The original occupants are Palestinians until 1941when British were looking for state of Israel. They fought for that place and put the remnants of Jew after the world war as their home. They gave any Jew home and abroad opportunity to come home after they scattered over. Having noticed the place would be small, they initiated another war in 1948 and 1967 between Israel backed by British and US and took over eastern part of Jerusalem again. They continued their occupation gradually and annexed more lands with the support of both UK and US. Now, the UN came up with resolutions that the only way to have peace is to have to States in the region with both having their capitals in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a sacred place for Christians, Muslims and the Jews. And one man came out and said he will declare the place capital for Israel over the original occupants and you are here ranting forgetting the consequences of such decision after the whole world agreed on something. Does it sound reasonable to you or does Trump looks sane to you. As have said earlier, it is an important place, a sacred place for Christians, Muslims and Jews. And I am sure you are a coward Christian that believes anything Israel does is right and they do it for Christians. Israel is not CHRISTIAN STATE and they don't believe in Jesus Christ (May the peace of God be upon him). Since you are educated, Google the religion in Israel and discover Muslims are more than christian there. My take is justice and peaceful coexistence. Wars in those days and not the same as the present realities. Most countries now have nuclear, atomic, ICM and more dangerous weapons. Thanks

Here in the SW, I have many friends that are not practicing the same religion with me but we do most things together. Some tribes are violent in nature, avoid tempting them. The best way to practice any religion is to respect religions with their believes and move on with your life. Stop tempting, molesting, saying evil or any sort of things you can not also accept. Don't give what you can not take. God bless Nigeria, God bless the Southerners, God bless the Northerners and make us leave together peacefully.

The difference between ibori and tinubu is while ibori has been jailed, the criminal tinubu continue to hold sway in his region. His people shield him and hail him jagagban. The southwest has the worst set of leadership in Nigeria. The simple fact that they collect far more allocation than the east and yet not able to pay salaries, while most states in the east do proves this. There are ten times more corrupt politicians in the west that there can ever be in any southern zone. So the issue of ibori has been condemned by Deltans. When will sophisticated westerners get rid of tinubu?

Jonathan explained that he visits most time at night and that's the reason people are seeing this as special. In Africa today, Nigeria remains one of the countries that you must respect in all ramification of whatever you want to use to judge. Nigeria is great and so also our leaders. As said in the Bible and Quran, God provides leaders in the likes of the followers. So that's what we are seeing today, we need to change to make the Country proud!
