DESPERATE CROSS BORDER MIGRANTS FREEZE IN BONDAGE

There was a once in a generation cold winter blast that gripped most of the United States and Canada days ago. The snow overwhelmed government services in some American cities. Individuals within towns and cities had to form self-help groups to get other people that were stuck at home with some groceries, medicines and rides to the hospitals. Like most winter storms, some lives were lost. Life is not as comfortable as outsiders trying to get in may think.

On the southern border of the United States where migrants were waiting to cross, the cold blast caught them in transit. The good Samaritans scrambling to provide food and warm shelters between the United States and Mexico were overwhelmed. Churches used as shelters were forced to turn more migrants away. How can anyone with a conscience not cry and bleed for the migrants stuck across American and European borders in the freezing weather?

Do you think that anyone desperate enough to cross the sea and desert in frozen weather will reject prostitution, organ transplant and modern day slavery in return for entry? Horrible stories have been told and heard by those still trying to cross into Europe and America. When they cry for help wherever they are held, it becomes the fault of the agents that lured them into bondage after paying him all their life savings.

The saddest part are women willing to forgo their children in the hands of coyotes, tonton macoute. We must congratulate many talented and skilled Africans that were trained abroad without draining their countries' Central Bank. Yet, they left all incentives abroad and returned home to render services as teachers, Independence fighters, health workers, lawyers, architects, business partners, “London trained tailors”, plumbers etc. They were fulfilled by the warmth of patrons and appreciative communities that welcomed them home where they could melt into any social class they desired, unlike in Europe and America.

Unfortunately, there is an opportunity cost we have to weigh and decide which is more comfortable for each individual; not only in the long run but for the duration of our life. Telling us you are relocating for the benefit of your children is the worst gift you can give your family in a strange culture where they become indifferent to their family members. They may ease you into an Old People's Home later.

However, relocations become more complicated in a caste society where there is division of labor based on social status that subjects others to untouchable status. The Hindu religion in the Asia region has split society into countries because of social class and religion. When the caste system subject a group to perpetual lower social status, it spurs revolt to either split into different countries, relocate into another society in order to be free of discrimination.

So we have to be careful making the distinction between the motivations for relocation of people into different societies or the reason to divide a country along religious or social lines. This is why it may seem unreasonable to run away or relocate when the problem can be solved within: by revolts, confront your oppressors, demand change, split the country along religious or social lines. If the oppressed do not stand and fight at home, they will be subjected to the same or worse treatment when they relocate to a new society. You cannot allow the destruction of your own country by encouraging oppressors and looters, only to escape and destroy other communities. Better still, the Yoruba culture stands out in the world for religious diversity and tolerance within the same family. Formula to economic success by hard work and perseverance is not a secret. Britain made history recently when Conservative Party members, not by direct election of the British people, chose Rashi Sunak as the Prime Minister. He came close the last time before Liz Truss without his experience became the Prime Minister. There were celebrations throughout the world by Asians and Indians in particular whose countries were colonized.

People ignore the experiment that produced the most successful economic success in the world. The exposure in a recording of some Latina in the Los Angeles City Council celebrating power and degrading other ethnic groups within the community is not new, they are only caught. What is true in South and North America within colonized Natives is also true throughout the world.

Africans have land countries still flowing with milk and honey despite centuries of exploitation by foreigners and recent abuse by Africans themselves. This land is what others dream of as an opportunity to make a living out of it. If foreigners can make a killing while holding their noses to get rich in Africa, nothing stops Africans from making success out of their land instead of wasting talents looking for greener pastures outside.
