It was so bad that Gej's finance minister and the coordinator of the economy told us to prepare for recession in 2014 when her ministry started borrowing money to pay salaries. I reproduce her warning below:
Brace for tougher times ahead, Okonjo-Iweala tells Nigerians November 14, 2014 Premium Times Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Nigerians should brace for tougher economic times ahead, the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has said as crude oil prices slipped to a four year low on Wednesday. New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) December WTI oil futures sold at $75.20 per barrel on Wednesday, down $1.98, from $ 74.96 per barrel the previous day, the lowest level for a most-active contract since September 2010. Though the price of sweet crude, the blend of oil export from Nigeria, rose marginally at the close of trading on Wednesday to $76.96 per barrel, it has already crashed below the $79 per barrel benchmark approved in the 2014 Appropriation Act, concerns are mounting that tough times are indeed ahead. At the end of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting for September, Federal, States and Local Governments were only able to go home with N603.5 billion allocation after they resolved to borrow about $2.76 billion from the Excess Crude Revenue Account to augment shortfall in revenue generated during the period. The Federal Government had attributed the declining revenues to the fall in prices at the international oil market. After drawing from the ECA, Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, said the balance in the account had dropped further from $4.1 billion to about $1.34 billion at the moment. But Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala said in Lagos on Tuesday that the economic indicators show there are tougher times ahead. Though she said the country’s External Reserves rose from $ 36.6billion at the end of June to $ 39.48billion by October 16, and the balance in the Sovereign Wealth Fund at $1.55billion, accruals from oil exports have been I thought Nairaland is free of idiots.....look at your life.....is there any improvement in the last two years? However, if after 4years we find his opinion to be greatly deficient then we do the needful by voting him out. Thank God for Democracy. Sorry to say this that your ignorance must be pointed out. Buhari is not the one to say he wants Magu as a must.....Efcc should be independent of any arm of government.....that is how to build institution so that if corruption is found at the presidency, the EFCC chairman will have a free hand to do his work.....efcc chairman is only answerable to the Nigerian people...The presidency can nominate but it cant insist if other army of government finds something against him and can establish it...When it becomes contentious as we have now....the independent judiciary arm of government has to pass a judgement free of influence from both the presidency and the legislative. If the presidency has it all in selecting efcc chairman...the office becomes a tool to deal with political opponents and a refuge provider for the thieves in the government. |

buygala: New episode in the endless season films acted to keep the gullible as gullible as possible
Sometimes I wonder whether the propaganda in Nigerian churches isn't more than that of this APC administration
Smh Bro, believe in Miracles. My friend was diagnosed of brain tumor and he went for a test in UK and US to confirm what he was told in Nigeria...It was becoming serious and he scheduled a surgery in India to have it removed. He believed God for a miracle and before his departure to India with his wife, our pastor prayed over a bottle of anointing oil. When they got to India, a test was also carried out to ascertain his condition. On the day the surgery was to be done, he prayed with his wife and they applied the anointing oil........The doctors opened his head, and no tumour was found again...they were all confused. They sealed the head back and did another test, and nothing was found again. The man is very still alive and no symptoms again. We were still together this week. A dead child was rushed into our house in the 90s by one Alhaji living infront of our house- my dad being a Pastor, we lived in a mission house...All my mum had to do was to go in and bring 'Omi Ariran'- the water she brought from Joseph Ayo Babalola center in Ikeji that we normally keep in the house and just prayed and pour some on the child's body...the baby came alive instantly. Though the baby was not pronounced dead by any doctor, but the Alhaji being rich and educated was so sure of the futility of taking the child to the hospital as he claimed the baby had no pulse before they came in to our home. There was a case of a child with a hole in his heart last year, and the parents only brought the child to church to get divine miracle. After a prayer and world of knowledge from my Pastor, the child was healed and no hole in his heart again. I had a terrible chest pain sometimes early this year and I was really scared.....I was in church when my Pastor said, if you have a pain in your chest just lay hand on it...After the prayer, the pain left and since then I never felt it again. Bro, these are just minor miracles I have to share, if I tell you some other that I have experienced, you will feel they are made to believe stories.................................A man was to run me over while taking a stroll and the spirit of God spoke to me his intention when I see the car from over 100m away......I changed the way I was walking and the man drove by...he turned and drove by again.....he turned and parked by my side and said....'You have a strong God'.....he told me he was to kill me...and he sped away......this happened in 2005.............A guy had attempted to hit me with a charm before and his hand hanged in the air. Bro, if you have never witnessed the power of God, you need to pray for it. It is real. |

kinzz: First Hand Information On What Happened At Anambra State Today, As Ejike Ofoegbu Arrived Anambra From Aba
Please over look the police report, Ejike Ofoegbu said Loveth Gift narrated
"We all were in the church during the 6am morning mass today, we saw two cars that drove into the church; because it was a Church premises we over looked it and we considered them to be people that came for morning mass(service). But to the surprise of everyone, the car halted at the center of the gate, meaning you cannot close the gate, since it is open already.
"The driver came out of the car pretending he was fixing a problem; so everyone still ignored the drama happening outside the premises.
"Suddenly, some men came out from the car, fully armed, all in Army uniform. I was lucky because I was sitting at the back, just beside the door, but I was clearly seeing what was happening. The sky was cloudy and everywhere seemed dark; no one saw what they were carrying, whether it was gun, but surely they were fully equipped.
"They immediately rushed to the front door. I was too lucky to jump the fence, but before I had jumped, I heard gun shot everywhere in the building. They obstructed the front gate, because for women that is their only route to escape. That was why women were killed more than men. Children were killed as well, many were seriously injured.
"After I had escaped, I started making calls to link my church members who were in the church, but they were not picking up; not knowing they were dead already.
The gun men were not igbos, because their language were not igbo, the government should stop lying, I heard they said That, they gun Men were flashing touch light on us, but it a lie, because the whole church was so lighted that even from outside you will see who is inside. Even at that, if they were really flashing touch light to know who is their target, those that were killed, are they their target.
Like I said before and I will say it again, I was at the back door, I saw all that happened, they were with Army uniform, face covered, standing at the Front door, holding their trigger, and shooting at anything that moves.
When the police came, I was waiting for them to ask questions of what happened, so that I will explain, but they were busy taking pictures of the dead ones, without knowing the fact
"Not too long after they had gone, I went back to the church. I was shocked with what I saw; my Mother was lying dead! Many people were unconscious but later succumbed to death.
"After about one hour of the killings, the Police arrived the church. Two hours later, the Governor, Willie Obiano arrived too. Everyone was shocked, wandering how the perpetrators stormed in Army uniform. Questions began to arise: "Who gave them the Army uniform?" Who gave them the Army car?" Surely jihad is here, and everyone have to defend him/her self.
A woman who still survived the mayhem said, "All I could remember is that I was sitting at the front when some people in Army uniform invaded the Church and started shooting at everyone. They just held the trigger and fired at everyone they sighted. I managed to hide under the seat but was shot in the leg.
"A boy was shot in head, his brain bursted, and blood spilled everywhere - even at my face."
Ejike Ofoegbu Reporting You claimed to have escaped, yet a boy that was shot had his brain splashed on your face.....How come? Did u say your mother? |
