PoliticsRe: Kogi Claims Ownership Of Anambra's Oil Wells by bashr8: 10:26pm On Sep 05, 2012
Eko Ile: What a dumb I'd.iiot. Even if na one gallon of oil is in kogi, it is still their oil and they have every right to lay claim on it. The oil is not your oil and that's why you are compensating them. You are compensation them for taking what belongs to them you unintelligent dullard. Are you paying them just for fun and for no reason.

Even if as you claim, 99.9% of the oil is in anambra (which is a lie anyway) why grab kogi`s oil? Is your 99.9% not enough for you greedy, money and blood thirsty clowns?

Ode, what did you sow inside kogi land before grabbing their resources? They can even reject your compensation and tell you to get da fcukkkk out and off their land . You really think you have any say about resources on other peoples land? Are you really re..tarded ?

You clowns can slave and dig up all that oil, no problem, just make sure you send kogi their checks every month or get your greedy hands of their oil.
your IQ keeps reducing everyday , no oil is being drilled from kogi as we speak , they are still exploring the area, do you understand that? ok secondly oil wells are not shared by state boundries hence an oil well can overlap two states do you get that? thirdly the whole contract belongs to a private firm but also have shares in it including companies and even state governments just as they do in other big companies ,if you want to be declared an oil producing state you go to abuja and fight for it and not nairaland or anambra hope you get ,lastly here is what the owner have to say
But speaking yesterday at the ceremony to kick-start his company’s oil refinery in Anambra State, Orient Petroleum chairman Chief Emeka Anyaoku said the controversy over ownership of the oil deposits has been resolved and that the ‘bulk’ of the deposits are within Anambra territory.

He however added that any state where oil was found and drilled by Orient Petroleum would be accorded due recognition.

“There was misconception that the oil well was not entirely in Anambra, that has been resolved through the map of Nigeria. Let me quickly state that the two oil blocks encompassed parts of Enugu, Kogi, Delta and Edo states but bulk of it is in Anambra,” Anyaoku said.

He said in addition to the private shareholders, other bodies that have shares in the company include Anambra, Rivers, Kogi and the 21 local government areas of the state.

u still dey or do i need to break it down futher for you to understand?

i posted the map of the oil wells vs state boundries, i know yoruba brain takes a lot of time to load but i trust you will understand it now.

ndu_chucks: Why are you people spreading lies like this? Sir, when was Anambra toiling and slaving to find oil in the blocks involved? Only Orient Petroleum did any toiling and slaving, Anambra State does not own the oil blocks or the refinery in Anambra.

Do you have an idea where the geophysical location of the reserves are? If you do, kindly share the information, but I'd venture to guess that your statements are based on ignorance. Can you support your statement which implies that the reserves in the oil blocks are located in Anambra, with facts?

If wells are located in Anambra, then the locality may be due some royalties. That's it!! As far as naming Anambra an Oil Producing state without naming Kogi and a few other states the same, the jury is still out on that.
anambra do not have the power to name any state oil producing state, if they had the whole south east would have been declared oil producing a long time ago , such declarations are made in abuja, besides why do you people keep mentioning anambra? the oil wells are explored by orient petrolum just as shell and co are exploring those in the south south ,we should be happy that for the first time a nigerian own company is handling such affairs that means 100 percent of their earnings will go back into the nigerian sysytem and benefit us all one way or the other rather than forein companies that transfer billions of dollars from our economy back to their country.

ndu_chucks: Time to educate folks.

I'm of the opinion that if Anambra state is declared "an oil producing state" because of the oil blocks which gave rise to Orient Petroleum's refinery, then Kogi and a few other states should be declared "oil producing states" as well with all the accompanying benefits.'

The first map below shows Orient Petroleums's oil blocks 915 and 916. Now OPL916 is where their refinery is located. The second map shows an old map of Nigeria which shows the location of the refinery (i.e. OPL916)

As we can see from the maps, OPL915 extends to Kogi state.

we can conclusively state that oil block OPL915 covers the following states:Anambra, Kogi, and Enugu while OPL916 covers Anambra, Edo, Delta, Enugu, and Kogi. Declaring Anambra state "Oil Producing" without according the same rights to the aforementioned states is outright cheating by Mr. President and should be vigorously challenged in court.

My Anambra brothers, Nwanne m, see ya in court. cheesy
declaring kogi oil producing state have nothing to do with anambra people, if kogi wants that status they should go and fight for it in abuja and show seriousness like anambra did over these years.

dasparrow: I think it is due to 2 reasons:

1. The girl in question is a big man's daughter. A retired general in the Nigerian army.

2. The gruesomeness of the crime. The manner in which she was killed. The girl was young, driven, business minded and probably too trusting. Those heartless young men just had to waste her life like that. This case along with the Abia r*ape case brings to the forefront how hostile generally speaking Nigerian society is to her women folks. The other day I was reading of ra*pe cases in enugu I believe where young men are ra*ping elderly women and widows. I mean, common! Is Nigerian society crawling with beasts? where do we draw the line?
your number one point is in other as for number two , you have no idea how many rape casses occur everyday in nigeria ,even the country where your typing from is not spared so abeg make we hear word, why didnt we get a frenzy when young female high school children that where travelling on the express where stopped ,robbed and all raped.like i said police is using it to get attention .

hope you never came in contact with the cynthia girl or sold anything to her cause you might be the next to be arrested and published for the social networks to feast on. nigerian police before you even report a crime they demand for bribe or fuel money if not they will just throw out the case, when they are broke they raid neighbourhoods look for young men ,arrest then and extort them if you dont settle they will accuse you of being an armed robber and lock you up and if your not from a wealthy or influential family then sorry for you , go to the prisons and see what is happening there young innocent people wasting away, look at the pharmacist that was arrested no newpaper or social network is reporting his false arrest before you know it that young man's life will be over.

her father is in the army, the police are using it to gain attention. people still get kille, robbed, r.aped everydayand the police remains helpless. at this rate they will soon start arrsting everybody she came accross even people at the airport, meanwhile this thread is not supposed to be news it is however a lesson for people that buy used item in nigeria cus you dont know if its stolen but if nigerians stop buying used itemit will have a great effect on the economy and since your not God theres no way you can tell if the used item your buying was stoeln especially if they refurbish it like they did with her phone.

Africans, including Igbos, have existed before the advent of organized religions. Read about  Igbo spiritual science here: Odinani/Omenala.

Recently, I read Catherine Acholonu-Olumba’s over 500-page book titled, They Lived Before Adam Prehistoric Origins of the Igbo The Never-Been-Ruled, in a culmination of 18 years of research into Igbo origins and the origins of other Kwa peoples. Kwa languages belong to the Niger-Congo family and are spoken by over 20 million people in such places as Nigeria, Ghana, and Benin.

In her book, she traces the “origin of the Igbo people of Nigeria to the earliest days of Homo Erectus Africans.”

Very early on in the book she examines the meaning of  “ndi Igbo.” She states, “Ndi-Igbo simply means, “the Ancients, the First People, the Aboriginals (Ndi Gbo).” The Igbo civilization in Nigeria is one that synthesized over the years from the original Negro hunter-gatherer autochthons (otherwise called Homo Erectus) scattered over various parts of the continent of Africa prior to and beyond 500,000 years ago from where they spread across the globe in the first phases of the ‘Out of Africa’ migrations. In West Africa these hunter gatherers were called Igbo by the earliest migrants who met them in situ on arrival in the Niger-Benue confluence area. In other parts of Africa they went by various names such as Bushmen, San or Shan, Twa and Pygmies. It was these little people, known in Southern Africa as San or Shan, in China as Shan (creators of the Shan Dynasty of God-men) and in Igbo land as Eshi/Nshi or Nwa Nshi, who until recently were still seen in southeastern Nigeria nurturing the cultural life-wire of the Igbo, that had birthed the original Igbo forest culture hundreds of millennia before the North-South migrations that were later to bring about the relatively new Pan-Igbo identity anchored around the Nri hegemony” (Acholonu-Olumba, 2009, p. 2)

Whether one agrees with many of her assertions, it is quite apparent she is well-researched. The book can no doubt spark interesting conversations among those interested in the African origins of humankind. I find this research promising, and the idea of the Igbo being an ancient people, who have influenced a number of other cultures and religions, to be my position.
why are you shocked ? did you actually believe adam and eve where the first humans? for our population to be above 30 million that mean we have been here for a long time.

PoliticsEvery Ogoni Person Is A Potential Cancer Patient, by bashr8(op): 9:20pm On Sep 03, 2012
ABUJA (AFP) – Nigerians from the region devastated by oil spills on Monday called on the president to take action, more than a year after a UN report said the contamination may require the world’s biggest cleanup.

“Every Ogoni person is a potential cancer patient,” Magnus Abbe, a senator and spokesman for a delegation from the Ogoniland region of southern Nigeria, said during a visit to President Goodluck Jonathan with journalists present.

“Tragic and catastrophic as the situation is, the Ogoni people are concerned by a protracted and near absence of a strategic response by the federal government to the findings of the (UN) report.”

The president did not comment with journalists present but later held a closed-door meeting with the delegation.

A landmark report from the UN’s environmental agency in August 2011 said decades of oil pollution in Ogoniland may require the world’s biggest clean-up.

The United Nations Environment Programme also called for the oil industry and the Nigerian government to contribute $1 billion to a clean-up fund.

It pointed out major health risks in the region of Africa’s largest oil producer, including in one community where families were drinking water from wells contaminated with the carcinogen benzene at levels over 900 times above WHO guidelines.

Ogoniland was the native region of Ken Saro-Wiwa, the renowned environmental activist who was executed by a Nigerian military government in 1995 after what was widely considered a show trial, drawing global condemnation.

Shell, the biggest producer in Nigeria, was forced to leave Ogoniland in 1993 following community unrest sparked by poverty and allegations of environmental neglect, however pipelines still cross the area.

Despite the UN report, little action has been taken to clean up the region, which in part prompted the delegation’s visit to Jonathan on Monday.

am not suprised, another yoruba demon , instead of the demon to think of how to reclaim their ancestral land kwara from their hausa fulani slave masters rather he is trying to set up the igalas, when sanusi said the yorubas are the problem with nigeria we thought we was just being a bigot.
uptill today yorubas have no clue what nigerias map look like and who is from where, they cant even spell the names of nigerian etnic group , no matter how many times you teach them they still act dumb.

You know even among the Igbos, there is a tussle for superiority over language.I think the language issue has been a little bit settled with the adoption of Igbo Izugbe which is a widely accepted version of Igbo language, but some arrogant Igbos had to spend money like four years ago to rewrite the Igbo bible since they felt the first and widely used bible was written by a group of Igbo they felt was inferior, hence the need to write a bible to reflect their dialect and superiority over others.

So,the issue of superiority has been there long ago.I don't want to derail this thread, maybe I should open another thread to address this conflict among Igbos, but knowing nairaland and what it is,it can produce unintended consequences.
