PoliticsRe: Why Do Some Africans See Merit Based Appointments As Proof of "Domination"? by bashr8: 6:00am On Aug 28, 2012
Onlytruth: I hope you didn't miss where I said that Europeans and other first world countries love progress more than they hate the next tribe, hence they really don't care much about who is leading a project provided the project is delivered and working well. Then I wondered why Africans (who have fought far less inter tribal wars than Europeans) tend to be stuck on tribe, and then in a bizarre logic still cling on the group they accuse of dominating them.

Igbo say that you don't tell a grown man to get out of the sun.

Why did some of those who cried most about being dominated still go to war to bring the dominating group back into Nigeria?
Makes no damn sense one bit.
there are somethings that one can never figure out like why are most african countries soo rich yet the people are soo poor, why are we complaining of unemployment yet keep importing chinese and indian workers, the list is endless. the truth is that as it stands now theres no light at the end of the tunnel , i used to think our fathers generation where the problem but our generation is even worse , maybe the next generation might have a solution.

without federal character some sections of the country will not be able to enroll into higher institutions therefore wont be able to qualify for job, political offices etc.

Onlytruth: For me, the simplest test to determine whether this mindset is rational or not is to examine the infrastructure and civil service of a country.

A friend shared an experience about when a team from GOOGLE "streetview" went to Nigeria to establish a presence. When the Google team got there, met with some Nigerian (Lagos really) officials, and the Nigerians simply said to the Google team, "don't worry, you can start business, there is no problem, you shouldn't even pay for land. . .". The Google team was baffled, because they had expected a detailed meeting and signing of documents and the like. Didn't happen. But guess what happened when they returned to start making physical moves? Everybody they met again pretended as if they have not seen the Google guys before! shocked

The Google guys were shocked; I wasn't shocked of course because we are talking about Nigeria where maybe the "guy in charge" didn't even know how to handle such world class company.
so you know that google chap? you sure say i no sabi you for real life.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Vs Igbo Cat Fights: Are You Tired Of Them? by bashr8: 5:07am On Aug 28, 2012
who cares let the hate continue, the sooner our youths and children know we are dont like them and they dont like us the better for everybody, i say split nigeria northerners can have yorubas all to themselves.i have already started using nairaland as references for some naive igbos that think everybody is their friend as long as the person is nigerian.
PoliticsRe: Imo Makes Possession Of Igbo Language Compulsory For Admission Into University by bashr8: 11:06pm On Aug 27, 2012
texazzpete: You m0r0n! How would you like it if one day a Northern Governor woke up and demanded that all Igbos in the North convert to Islam 'to preserve their religion'?

There are Igbos all around Nigeria in loads of schools...and nobody has insisted that they learn the languages in that region
.

If you want your language to survive, ask Igbo parents to teach their kids the language. You cannot outsource that responsibility to the State Government.

This is idiocy at its finest from Rochas...the man is fast turning into a buffoon.
i believe those so called igbos know their way back home. they are talking of state university not federal or private university.

HiiiPower: The OP is being disingenuous!
All the companies he listed were located in the western region and Lagos.

Can he tell us what happened to the companies in EASTERN REGION, NORTHERN REGION, AND MIDWEST?
Did the Yoruba take over them as well?

I don't know why you guys always cry spilled milk over things in Yoruba region and Lagos,
are we siamese twins? Our region is our region, and whatever we do there is non of your business.
The same way Azikwe wanted to rule over Lagos and western region; and cried cross carpeting till he died.

What do you people want from us?

The way forward is about how Igbo people would focus on their region,
stop moving to Yoruba land, and mind their own business.
same companies, different locations in the country . leventis , dunlop , nigerian bottling company , berger paints etc they all have or had locations accross the country.
PoliticsRe: Post-civil War Indigenization Policy And Its Far-reaching Consequences by bashr8: 2:51am On Aug 25, 2012
actually igbos are benifiting most now , all the companies in the east are owned by igbos and doing very well and igbos also have a large chunk of the companies in other regions so in the end you will continue to win if your good at what you do besides over three quater of those companies which where in hundreds have all closed down ,only a hand few are left today , if any group should complain about it its the hausa fulanis who are currently the poorest and the niger deltan who despite all the oil God have blessed them with are strugling like every other region while few politicians especially from the north carter away with their wealth.

naijababe: I am curious, if I say the Igbos are the most hardworking set of people in Nigeria and their entrepreneurial can be surpassed by none, does that make a Yoruba that has not been brought up well? Just asking is all.
if you say igbos are the most enterprising and finish it by saying you thought your people where enterprising to but later found out they are lazy then i will take it that your parents did not bring you up well to in respect to educating you about your people , culture ,lifestyle etc.
PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by bashr8: 1:10am On Aug 25, 2012
dayokanu: Yoruba intelligence always makes Igbos look primitive, I am waiting for his response to your question
i wanted to keep out but prinitive yprubas like you that lack class and run their mouth without thinking will always have a way to draqg me back , now if they create a thread that igbos are the most hard working will dumb ofenmanu like you allow that thread to thrive , anumani

PhysicsQED: So are cattle banned from grazing in these places, or why are the nomads going to down south to graze? Are they kept in the dark about this place, or do they graze here and in the south?
good question , had to laugh at that? cattle grazing have become a do or die affair you will think the whole north have turned to desert.

this is the second time am reading an article where a poorly brought up igbo child while trying to praise someone else for what ever reason makes a mockery of his own people. anyway this thread is about yoruba people so lets not derail it , am out.
PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by bashr8: 11:28pm On Aug 24, 2012
good for the yorubas , religious tolerance is important in life but the only thing i read from this thread is failure of some igbo parents especially those in lagos and abuja to raise their children properly , what a shameful write up.

yoruba crimes always fill up ppages of newspapers and online media both national and international so dont even go there.

htajz: linda ieji and bella naija are women they careless about these things rather they are more concerned with entertainment, any group that dont understand the role of the media in this modern world then that group is lost. if nairaland were nigeria for real every single igboman would have been taged a criminal , its not too late though to start.
no igboman in his right mind will use his media to witch hunt people, igbos use their media to promote black race not just nigerians like you mentioned iroko tv, bella naija etc. seun will always remain a local champion in nigeria cus nobody wants to be seen with a tribalist like him or associated with him in public just as nairalanders will never want to recommend nairaland to their foreign friends or let their friends , partners, buiness associates especially from different ethnic group know that they visit nairaland all the time.

rubbish , puting crime related to igbos on front page all the time will not make yorubas any less criminals neither will it make yoruba land safer of better for yorubas ,it wont make the yoruba rituals stop neither will it make their politicians any less corrupt or incompetent.

who told you that, bigotry will create intolerance and intolerance will speed up nigeria breaking up. plus bigotry will make everybody especially igbos to only invest in their region and bigotry also reduces inter tribal marriages.

they should be hanged, even life imprisonment is not enough. for those tribalist yes they are igbo but we igbos are concerned of losing our daughter to these criminals so if you think we are going to engage you in a battle think again.

secondly women need to be very careful , nigerian women and men alike are too careless ,they invite/travel miles to meet someone they just came accross on facebook, hi5, bb etc and its really a sad situation.

no nigerian will say he or she does not have a relative or family friend in lagos, the least you can do is inform them you are coming to lagos and if possible stay with them while in lagos or any other city or at least let them know who you came to see.i hop this situation will be an eye opener for all of us even though its not the first case of its kind.
