Then this is one Haiku I composed LIFE Life is but a tree Which often brings forth sweet fruits But sour one, sometimes. |
This thread is the meeting place. Or isn't it okay like that? Who knows how we can get get a competent publisher for the project. If we cannot find one on time, that means we shall have no choice but to publish the anthology in an ebook format at lulu.com What do you guys feel? Would that work out fine? Pls post your views. |
It seems more pple are getting interested in this stuff. I think we should welcome more suggestions and then get the project rolling. Or what do you feel? |
I just came about an idea. I think we the amateur and professional poets of this forum can altogether publish a poetry anthology which will be a co-operative contribution of all the poets in this forum. Different poems from different poets will be collected, screened and the ones found eligible for publication will be published. Fellows do you think it is a good idea. Will it work? How exactly? Please post your views. This is not a matter of money making, just to get yourself published and your message through to the world through your poetry. Nothing more. Your views are welcome. |
Checkout my thread, Beauty and the Dream (revised). I don't have to paste it here again, it is against the admin's rules and regulations. |

Thanks for the reply, but I posted it for your critiques and not replies that will make my head swoon. Check out my weak points and let me know. I just a budding poet. Thanks. |
The shady grove was but a graveyard. Therein, I sat lonesome as in a coffin to be interred. The dusk, a bracing breeze was heralding. My eyes then caught a sylph while spinning Around, like the earth on its axis. Rubicund Her face was, like a fresh tomato just ripened. Her gait, like on a catwalk, I paused to behold. And her frame made me tremble like a naked kid in the cold. My mouth gaped open like the morning glory just ere noon. Fixed I stood as a tree, watching her as she down The lane like a voyaging ship, gradually disappeared. "Go after her!" a stimulant from nowhere ordered. I turned into a dog at that instance, And like she was a fat bone, I covered the distance. The supportive wind conveyed me like a feather, And I became sweat-clad like an ice container. My love for this sylph, as I neared her, became stronger, Like that 'tween two magnets being drawn closer. Lion-heartedly, I approached her about my feelings, And ere long, we were like two mating frogs, cudddling. Like a watered blaze, our honeymoon halted abruptly, I exitted the romantic dreamland untimely. My eyes opened. Mocking me were the rays of the sun. All my efforts wasted, my quarry gone! (c) A. Ola Toriola, December 2006. |

Oh! They are feeling so dejected For they have been to ridicule subjected People treat them like lepers And but God,they lack helpers They were only victims of circumstance But people don't about this think for once They had suffered enough of stigmatisation And had endured a lot of discrimination People are reluctant to offer tham aids All because they have HIV/AIDS Why should we kill them with our actions? When anyone can be in their conditions The stigmatisation let us stop today to make these poor people feel gay. (c) A. Adeola Toriola 2006. |
BEAUTY AND THE DREAM All alone I sat on that fine evening The dusk,a cool breeze was heralding Then an epitome of beauty by me passed Like a fresh tomato, her face was rubicund I paused to behold her gait so gorgeous And her body frame so beauteous Gradually, down the lane she disappeared "Go after her,"my heart ordered I turned into a dog at that instance And like I sighted a bone,I covered the distance I ran in a way I've ne'er done before For I kept falling in love the more I approached her about my feelings And ere long,we were already handling Something halted our honeymoon abruptly I left the romantic dreamland untimely. |
AN EXODUS INTO HEAVEN Fatality, though unseen was aboard As they were driven heavenwards in a deathtrap And like as for the battleground, They set out on the dicey journey Suddenly, they were violently diverted To a destination for which they ne'er bargain'd Led by that unseen passenger(among them) What an exodus into heaven! (c)A. adeola Toriola 2006. DEDICATION:This poem is dedicated to all plane crash victims of late memory.May their gentle souls rest in absolute peace(Amen). |
