Really? You mean all the nine are trash? Thanks very much at least for the challenge. I shall start working over them again. But I shall wait first for the comments of others as I cannot bank on this alone. But thanks for the comment anyway.

Orikinla, this might probably be the last work of yours. I can see you're calling for a hot controversy. What a risk! You had based the whole thing on lies and what you wrote in this post can make any Muslim crucify you. Man,be warned! A word is enough for the wise!
Poems For ReviewThe Rudderless Ship by Basic(op): 3:22am On Oct 03, 2006
What a huge success man had recorded
In mastering the material world
A success achieved at the expense of failure!
The failure of man to disciplione himself
On the moral and spiritual planes

Indeed founded is Western Civilisation
On a materialistic philosophy of life
Which like a vanquished soccer coach at his boys
Frowns upon all that is spiritual
And against all moral and spiritual values revolt

Like as a prayer warrior in supplication
So had man become engrossed
In this materialistic world
Of disillusionment and frustration
Of many problems by man caused

The pursuit of carnal pleasures
And the gratificatification of his sensual desires
Are what man had made his goals in life
Totally had he forsaken the spirituals
And the morals he had eschewed

Man's existence may now be likened
To that of a rudderless ship
Drifting aimlessly in a vast and stormy sea
The sea of the unknown
Poems For ReviewWhat A Threat! by Basic(op): 2:45am On Oct 03, 2006
A great joy it really was to mankind
When man first into the unknowns ventured
And the mysteries of science unfolded
Surrendering to man's great curiosity

In the days of the science pioneers
Nay,problems were not with their knowledge caused
And the discoveries made were beneficial
Beneficial to man and other beings

But here we are today in our own days
When only the harms of science we see
One advantage,ten disadvantages
Are what modern day science could offer

Like as a serpent at the tail severed
So had science gone wild against man
Angered at the way he prettifies nature
And at his efforts in artificialising the naturals

On and on still into science ventures man
Destroying the marvels of creation
And turning to a holocaust our earth
To a very horrible place of abode

On man animals are raining curses
Birds of the air wailing in agony
The fish are in the sea whimpering in pain
All creatures their existence threatened

And on our lips remains the big question
Shall man not soon our beloved planet ruin?
Poems For ReviewThe Stiff-necked Fool(a Warner To The Tobacco Smoker) by Basic(op): 2:21am On Oct 03, 2006
Of all the eatables to man available
None had thee but thick smoke to choose
With fancy to consunme all day long
Ignorant of his end hastening nigh

Gradually and gradually and gradually
The number of holes drastically multiply
The holes in the barrier by thy own hands punched
The standing barrier from death shieldinhg thee

O ye stiff-necked fool,friend of baccy
Thou art too unkind to thyself, why?
Shall ye not sit down and think deeply
That thoub art digging thy grave so early?
Poems For ReviewFlowers. by Basic(op): 2:06am On Oct 03, 2006
Examine their intricately shaped blossoms
Behold their diversity of colours so gorgeous
Smell their fragrance so delightful
And touch their petals so delightful

Their regal elegance excites our senses
Their splendour our emotions stir
Truly do they our environment complement
And our vicinity they beautifully adorn

A unique dimension they truly add
To our enjoyment of this life so sweet
For these beautiful marvels of creation
Indeed indebted to nature we are
Poems For ReviewAn Exodus Into Heaven(dedicated To All Plane Crash Victims Of Late Memory) by Basic(op): 2:00am On Oct 03, 2006
Up into the fine skies we ascended
Friends and relatives we on the ground left
Watching us disappear heavenwards
And upon the dicey journey we embarked

As we further into the skies ventured
The numerous clouds we kept admiring
And glances down to the earth we took
A beautiful scene it was to behold!

As our journey went on hitchless
Something terrible happened unannounced
And our destination had to change
To one for which we ne'er bargained

Our sudden entry into the celestials we began
As against our earlier expectations
A mass exodus it indeed was
An exodus into heaven!

This poem is an elegy dedicated to all plane crash victims of late memory.May their gentle souls rest in absolute peace.
Poems For ReviewEvery One's Too Clever! by Basic(op): 1:49am On Oct 03, 2006
Risible sounds my brotherman's opinions
But my own suggestions are the best
These feelings we all in our hearts nurse
Because everyone's tooclever

To hearken others' ideas wedetest
For like the snailk to rocky surfaces do
So stuck do we remain to our own opinions
All because everyone's too clever

Institutions no more consolidate
And bodies keep dividing everyday
Global unity is absconding
Because everyone's too clever

All co-operations are threatened
For dialogue is no more embraced
Global development now looks iffy
All because everyone's too clever!
Poems For ReviewThe Rich Man's Headache(from My Yet To Be Published "aphorisms For The Mind" by Basic(op): 1:36am On Oct 03, 2006
When younger he was in the days of olsd
Days still ahead he wished before him could unfold
And many sweet dreams about the furure
Would he in his naivety(of then)nurture

Hewished strongly that it could run, time
And success in life could so quickly come
Fame and wealth very soon to savour
Were fantasies his breast would harbour

Into reality his dreams had now turned
Thedreams he (then) in his childhood nursed
Success wealth and fame he had tasted
But to part with them hedetested

But with the inevitable end so apparent
So the more are his nightmares frequent
And that time could turn sluggish
Is just his present-day strong wish

His heart thumps his head aches
When reminded that numbered are his days
Like the waves towards the pebbled shore sprint
So to their end hasten our minutes
Poems For ReviewAwake O Ye Fellow Negroes(an Anti-racism Poem) by Basic(op): 1:24am On Oct 03, 2006
[b]O ye fellow men of the black race
Shall we to these people feel inferior?
Nay,for we all were on this earth created
And no race was to rule another mandated

Gone they told us were the days of slave trade
Yet,obvious still the modernized formsare
When shall the black man free hinmself
From the fangs of inferiority complex?

On the high the discrimination is
Against we people pf the black colour
The humans they are but we are the apes!
Angels are white-skinned but devils are black!

Awake, O ye fellows from Africa
Shall we to their oppression surrender?
Nay,to gain independence shall we strive
Independence from slavery of the mind

Yours is strong physique but ours is the brain
Mockery of the highest degree this is!
No repect is what they've got for we blacks
And no successof a negro iswelcome

Why celebrating them to make them swoon?
Why are we on going to their to their countries so bent?
Why do we prefer their products to ours?
Back to us all these actions boomerang

It's high time we kicked against racism
Time to free ourselves from mental slavery
It's time to believe strongly in ourselves
For equal grey matter we all possess

O ye fellow men of the black race!
it's time for total emancipation
Shall we to these people feel inferior?
Nay,for all men were created equal

And ne'er shall we the philosophy accept
That their race is superior to ours!

Poems For ReviewAgony In His Voice(the Prisoner's Song) by Basic(op): 1:01am On Oct 03, 2006
Success in life my mother wished for me
Likewise were the dreams father nursed fore me
But suddenly somewhere along the way
Ugly thoughts pushed me out of the right lane

To me a century away it seemed
The success of my parents' dreams for me
Peer influence intensified in me this thought
And on the right path I felt I had stepped

The advices of parents I defied
Away into the woerld of crime i went
Thinking on the short-cut to success I was
The destination where I ne'er reached

But here Iam today in this quicksand
Still wishing strongly that time could rewind
Poems For ReviewWhat A Great Relief!(an Ode To The Motor Car) by Basic(op): 11:47pm On Oct 02, 2006
As old as my grandmother is
Yet daily marathons she still runneth
Ay,even faster than a sprinter she goeth
Just like a boomerang she is gone and back

Though weightier than the beasts of burden it is
Faster than the cheetah it still runneth
Though more load than the beasts of burden it bveareth
Nay,never is its great swuiftness hampered

What a great relief to man from trekkng miles
Greatly reduced is the burden on camels and donkeys
And no more of our dicing with death on water
For an alternative hath unto mankind cometh

Forever shall mankind hail his great name
The Carl Benz of the car invention fame.

Hello Nairalanders, I'm a budding poet and I've got some questions bothering my mind about this art. I'll be very glad if you guys can help me out. 1. What is the lenght of a standard poem? I've composed some poems which are as long as 40 lines. Is that not too long? 2. What is the minimum number of poems required to make up a poetry publication?

ComputersWhich Are The Good Get-paid-to-read-email Sites? by Basic(op): 6:56am On Aug 20, 2006
There are now over a million websites who claim to pay members for reading emails and there's no way one can know the good and reliable ones among. Does anyone know of any of the reliable ones where I can sign up for free and also get paid by egold? I appeal to Seun and all other Nairalanders to help me out on this. I need to start earning money online through this means because I believe it is the only way to start earning money online without spending any capital. NOTE: the site must also have no minimum payout to members so I can order for my money anytime, regardless of the amount. Thanks.
RomanceWhat's This Girl's Problem? Help Me! by Basic(op): 8:48am On Jul 29, 2006
I've been asking this girl out since the past two years but she keeps insisting that she would not tell me the reason why she's still saying NO to my date request. Although,I still see many things that show to me that this girl likes me. In the past,we used to be friends because we lived in the same area but we weren't all that close. She's 20 already and I dont know why she's obstinate. I'm never giving up anyway but tell me what to do to get this girl. I love her so much.
