President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Suleiman Hassan to take charge of the Environment Ministry following the resignation of, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril.

It was gathered that Hassan who hails from Gombe state, was mandated to takeover the Environment Ministry at yesterday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

A presidential source told Daily Trust last night that Hassan has been asked to immediately take charge of the Environment Ministry.

“Yes, it is the Minister of State Power, Works and Housing II, Suleiman Hassan that has been asked to takeover the Environment Ministry,” he said.

Recall that Jibril’s resignation came days after his emergence as Emir of Nasarawa.

Jibril was appointed as the Minister of State for Environment in December 2015 when the council was constituted after a senate screening and confirmation.

PoliticsRe: Gbenga Olawepo-hashim Condemns Exclusion From Presidential Debate by baysol: 10:53am On Dec 13, 2018
mrrights:
Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim condemns exclusion from presidential debate

The Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim campaign organisation has condemned her exclusion from the scheduled Presidential Debate by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group and the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) alleging that the selection of candidates is biased, anti-democratic and the agenda of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC)

A statement signed by the Spokesman of the Presidential Candidate, Mr. Hassan Ibrahim, stressed that the exclusion is no doubt regrettable because the party had long indicated interest in participating in the debate.

The spokesman said it is their hope that the debating group is not working in cahoots with the ruling APC to undermine the strides the party is making with its spread across the country.

The PT, which is fielding Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate, had recently emerged top amongst the nearly 28 newly registered political parties fielding candidates for political positions in the next years’ presidential elections, with 194 persons running on its platform.

The PT, which in alliance with other parties is promoting the presidential candidacy of Mr. Olawepo-Hashim has a total of 194 contestants on its platform, including 140 for the house of representatives, 52 for the senate and one apiece for president and vice-president. Following closely the PT are the JMPP, 182, MPN 176, the ADP, 136, the ZLP, 115, and the ACD, 106.

Regrettably, the candidates included in the debate apart from Alhaji Atiku performed woefully in terms of spread, in comparative terms, in the just concluded nomination exercise. While Kingsley Moghalu had 70 nominations, Fela Durotoye had 21, and Oby Ezekwesili had 50. The PT nomination was 194 signifying national spread, acceptability and effectiveness of political structure.

Other than this, the weekly Facebook rating of presidential candidates in Nigeria had recorded that Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim had made headstart over others in the data released on Monday, December 10, 2018, in Abuja, where he recorded Facebook engagements of 28,000, to for instance Atiku Abubakar who had 24,000+.

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress in the scheduled February 16, 2019 poll had recorded 16,000+ engagements, while Kingsley Moghalu, Fela Durotoye and the other presidential candidates were trailing far below with single digit ratings. “These are incontrovertible data, not the sentiments or wishful thoughts of individuals. They empirical evidence that can be easily verified”

The statement regretted that it is surprising that despite these records, the party is being excluded from the debate, in what looks like a stage-managed process. “We urge Nigerians not to be disturbed by this. The PT is working with other political candidates who are interested in having their voice heard towards the 2019 presidential election, and we shall surely triumph in stopping this subterfuge”

“Why the organisers listed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for purpose of legitimacy in their shortlist for the debate, the inclusion of the weakest candidates on the platform, or the newest parties exposes their devious intentions”

According to the party, Nigeria is internally bleeding because of the many ineptitude of the All Progressive Congress (APC). What the country is looking forward to is an honest platform of debate to halt the hemorrhaging, not a forum to whitewash the problem by mostly a collection of pretenders to the presidential contest.

The PT called on supporters, concerned Nigerians and the electorate to take note of the APC shenanigan and their selected allies that they have been encouraging in the polity to suck off votes that otherwise will not come to them.

“We urge Nigerians not to be disturbed by this development as genuine people’s debate is in the works where concrete solutions to many problems dealing with Nigeria will be proffered. Our campaign will be part of this new debate with many patriotic candidates who truly want to see a better Nigeria in 2019”

It is not space science that those selected by BON are the moles inside, playing to the gallery to hoodwink Nigerians that they are true oppositions. At least they don't have to hide any more, the wind has blown and the chicken's anus has been exposed. Nigerians should not vote for them and avoid them totally. They are leprous as the so called debate will be scripted to favour Buhari. #we are not fooled.

People who have not done absolutely nothing for Lagos or lifted a finger for any good cause in Lagos will wake up and suddenly say tinubus dominance shud stop. When he was working and laying a working foundation and blueprint to bring Lagos from backward politicians and stagnant development where were they? Now they see the many avenues he Tinubu has opened up as sources of revenues in Lagos they wake up and what to take control of Lagos in their little minds.

If u want to handle Lagos u must go and work and prove it. U can’t just come out like a thief to claim u love Lagos more than those who have sacrificed so much time and effort to develop and make it attractive after all these years.

I don’t like tinubu bt I respect him for his work and for now I don’t trust these hyenas I see claiming to love Lagos more than those who burnt their midnight oil for improving the state from what it was to this point.
My brother don't mind them. Their utterances must not be taken lying low, they all talk from the abundance of their wicked hearts. They want to eat where they have not sown. I think these people are smothering (better put, won doru mu wa) us the Yorubas in Lagos and they must be systematically sent back to their evil red soil unclave. This is also inclusive of those coming to lagos from the north to elect emirs this not only unacceptable it is an affront to the only recognised Oba of Lagos and other obas and bales scattered all over lagos. This emirs must be told to dismantle forth with. Tinubu over to you. Lobatan.

Newsloft:
The Yoruba Self Determination Advancement Forum has said the group will liase with other ethnic nationalities in Lagos State to rescue the state from what it described as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu hegemony ahead of the 2019 elections.

The forum’s convener, Kunle Adesokan, said this at an event in Lagos on Wednesday where the group endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Mr Jimi Agbaje.

Adesokan said the forum, a coalition of over 60 self-determination groups, would liase with other ethnic groups and all categories of people in the state to convince them to vote for Agbaje and put an end to the dominance of Tinubu in Lagos politics.

He said the people of the state had been pauparised in the name of urban renewal while businesses had been paralysed for almost 20 years because of just one man.

Adesokan, who said the people of the state had high hope in 1999 when the nation returned to democracy, regretted that the hope had given way to disillusionment because the state was brought under the bondage of an individual.

He said, “Our concern, simply put is that the 2019 governorship election in Lagos State offers a golden opportunity for the actualisation of the rescue mission towards popular democratic inclusion and good governance.

“Consequently, we have made conscious and dispassionate observation of the activities, posturing and pronouncements of all governorship candidates of various parties including the ruling All Progressives Congress and have decided to publicly adopt the aspiration of Mr Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje as the right and proper candidate that should be supported in the 2019 governorship poll in Lagos State.

“We are irrevocably committed to taking the message of hope which Mr Jimi Agbaje represents to the electorate who, for close to decades, have been desirous of freedom from the political hegemony of one man.”

The forum’s Secretary, Kola Are, said Tinubu had been the one ruling the state since the days of the Alliance for Democracy to the APC and not his party, saying that was why he had been installing and removing governors.

Are said, “This rescue mission is not for us alone. Lagos is under bondage of one man and not a political party but it is going to be a fight between Lagosians and Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is being represented by Sanwo-Olu.

“We have the mechanism to liase with other ethnic nationalities to join hands with us to rescue the state and we will achieve this.”

Are alleged that Agbaje won the governorship election held in 2015 but that the result was manipulated in favour of the then APC candidate, Mr Akinwumi Ambode.

He, however, said such manipulation would not be allowed in 2019 while urging the people of the state to support Agbaje.

What ethnic group other than Yorubas are the owner and sole stake holder in Lagos. Some demented sons and daughters of Yoruba land don't understand and have not learnt from history at all That what is left to the yorubas as inheritance is Lagos and it must be guided jealously. Can hausa and ibos allow you a say in their enclaves, not to talk of have a say if they are the owners of a place like lagos. The plot to take the capital of Nigeria is some of the plot of the evil mashanfani ethnic group we yorubas are muddled with since Lord Lugard. The intension was if capital moves to Abuja Lagos will collapse and yorubas will be finished. Instead, to their rude surprise Ile oba to jo ewa re lo busi, Lagos now become what everyone want a stake of. Even if it is monopolised by asuwaju he's still a Yoruba person fare game. According to the suspect, they lured the victim through Facebook chat after promising to give her N25,000 to hook up.

After falling for the trick, the lady came and was brutally murdered in cold blood after she was tied up and prevented from shouting.

The men were caught with the corpse of the deceased while trying to flee with it.

According to reports from witnesses, it is alleged that when they kill their victim, they close the person's account to avoid being traced.

It was also claimed that the suspects are ritualists who sell corpses/human parts to Alhajis and native doctors.

Some of the residents were clamoring for the suspects to be lynched to death over the gruesome act.

The suspects were later forced to carry the corpse before they were dragged away by the police.

PoliticsRe: Ngige Warns Igbo – ‘you Could Lose 2023 Presidency To South-west If You Don’t by baysol: 9:18am On Dec 10, 2018
chinwe1960:
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has warned the South-East they could miss out on a chance to produce the president of the country in 2023.

The people of the zone have failed in their bid to have one of their own as the leader of the country since the return of democratic rule in 1999, and Ngige believes they have a chance to grab the post if they play their cards right in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking with reporters in Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, Ngige said President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection was the South-East’s shortest route to the presidency.

He said, “This man (Buhari) has only one term (four years) to do and go home, and an Igboman will replace him. But if you leave this shortest route and take a gamble, you are on your own.”

He added, “If Igbo refuse to play their cards right in next year’s general elections, the South-West will take away the chance from them.

“They will produce the next president after Buhari, because the zone has shown demonstrable commitment to Buhari’s cause.

“My good friend Babatunde Fashola has blown the whistle. What he said should be a warning signal to the Igbo, because you can’t stop the South-West from producing the next president of the country after supporting Buhari and the APC government.

“That is why I’m telling our people now to come out en masse in next year’s election and vote for Buhari, so that nothing will stop you from succeeding him in 2023.”

He described the vice-presidential slot given to the Igbo by the Peoples Democratic Party as a “mere spare tyre that might be used for over six years”.

According to the minister, it is not true that Buhari hates the Igbo, stressing that the late Dr Chuba Okadigbo, Edwin Ume-Ezeoke and others were close friends with the President.

The minister said the Buhari government had provided infrastructure in the South-East, saying he deserved their support.

He insists the real Buhari is the one ruling the country, dismissing the rumours about a cloned Buhari at Aso Rock.

Ngige said “we should stop listening to all these gutter talks” that one Jubril from Sudan or Chad is the one ruling the country, as the real Buhari is dead.

He said, “I’m talking to you as medical doctor. If you are well treated by your doctor, you will be rejuvenated; that’s the case with Buhari. That is why is bubbling with life. His doctors treated him well.”

The minister added, “I see him regularly. He’s the Buhari who worked as the minister of petroleum; he the Buhari who was the Head of State of this country. He remembers all these.

“I asked our people to come out and vote massively for him in the 2019 general elections. We should stop listening to all these gutter talks. The man in Aso Rock is Buhari and no other person. I see him regularly. He’s the man that employed us as ministers and the one we meet with during FEC meetings.”

kirajustice:
@POLITICSNGR

Below is a Press Statemenr from the Ministry of Information and Culture;

My attention has been drawn to a press conference addressed by the Ilorin Emirate Magaji/Alangua Forum in Ilorin on Tuesday, 4 Dec. 2018, during which I was alleged to have said that the 'Berlin Wall' of the Ilorin Emirate had been broken by the outcome of the 17 Nov. 2018 by-election in the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

Those who made the allegation referred to a news item published in The Nation newspaper of Monday, 19 Nov. 2018, entitled ''Kwara Berlin Wall Broken, Says Lai Mohammed''.

While it is indeed true that I mentioned the Berlin Wall in my speech at the victory rally in my country home in Oro on Sunday, 18 Nov. 2018, it was undoubtedly in reference to the stranglehold of the Saraki political dynasty on Kwara politics. Not once did I mention the Ilorin Emirate during that speech, and I challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to release such. It is instructive that the news item that was referenced by those who made the allegation never mentioned Ilorin Emirate or made any reference to the traditional institution.

It is safe to conclude, therefore, that those who tried to inject the Ilorin Emirate into the whole issue acted out of shameful desperation. This is not a surprise, considering that they are yet to recover from the devastating defeat that they suffered in the by-election.

For the record, I hold the Ilorin Emirate, and indeed all our nation's traditional institutions, in very high esteem, and will never do anything to bring them to disrepute. No candidate for any political office in Kwara State will downplay the importance of the Ilorin Emirate, which is a father to all. Those who are grappling at straws, having realized that their hegemonic hold on Kwara State is coming to an end, are the instigators of this lie from hell that the Berlin Wall of the Emirates has been broken.

The traditional chiefs who echoed the fake news concocted by the fading political warlords of Kwara should be wary of doing anyone's hatchet jobs. They should not allow themselves to be used to denigrate the reverred Ilorin Emirate, which should be absolutely non-partisan. The traditional chiefs must realize that it is only by standing up for truth and justice that they can most effectively play their role of maintaining the 'ever solid wall of peace, unity, progress and stability' in the Emirate.

The defeat suffered by the tormentors of Kwara on 17 Nov. 2018 is a sign of what they should expect in the forthcoming general elections in the state. No amount of lies or other acts of desperation will save them from imminent defeat. Power flows from the people, and it is clear that the people of Kwara have totally rejected those who have appropriated the state's commonwealth to themselves to the detriment of the long suffering people of Kwara State.

PoliticsRe: Yuletide: Pay N800 Billion Subsidy Now To Avoid Fuel Scarcity - MURIC Warns FG by baysol: 2:34pm On Dec 05, 2018
aminulive:
@POLITICSNGR

Oil marketers have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government (FG) threatening to embark on a strike and shut down all depots across the country if their outstanding debts totalling N800 billion in subsidies, are not paid.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, 5th December, 2018, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) appealed to both the oil marketers and FG to iron out their differences in order to avoid fuel scarcity during this yuletide.

According to the director of MURIC who signed the statement, Professor Ishaq Akintola, “Yuletide is a sensitive period. This is the time most Nigerians choose to travel to their cities and villages in order to cement family ties. It is not the right time to allow fuel scarcity.

“We appeal to FG to do everything within its power to ensure that oil marketers do not carry out their threat. Unlike in the past, this administration has been able to ensure smooth supply of fuel. There have been no queues in petrol stations across the country. We appreciate this feat. But we are saying it should not be allowed to happen. Fuel scarcity causes lots of inconvenience for ordinary Nigerians”.

MURIC said it issued a warning about the likelihood of an attempt to cause artificial fuel scarcity towards the end of the year. “We warned about this in our press release dated 29th October, 2018

“Our exact words on that occasion were, ‘November is just three days away today and these agents of darkness must be somewhere now plotting to disrupt the smooth flow of supply and distribution. Their main objective is to discredit the government of the day particularly now that the 2019 election is just a stone’s throw away. It is therefore necessary for FG to watch out from now on. Another attempt may be made to cause artificial fuel scarcity. Those behind the move do not care about the common man. They do not care about hundreds of citizens who will be stranded on the roads as a result of fuel scarcity or the average Nigerian car owner who will be compelled to spend hours at fuel stations’.

We therefore appeal to FG to avert another fuel scarcity particularly in the interest of ordinary Nigerians who may be caught in the crossfire as transport fares are most likely to skyrocket.

PoliticsRe: I Will No Longer Complain About The Problems I Inherited - Buhari by baysol: 7:25pm On Dec 04, 2018
chinwe1960:
President Muhammadu Buhari says he has resolved to stop complaining about the problems his administration inherited when it came into office.

Buhari said he “asked for it” by relentlessly vying for office four times before emerging president in 2015.

He made the comments while speaking with a cross-section of Nigerians in Poland on the sidelines of the global summit on Climate Change.

The president said: “We inherited so many problems. Actually, I have said I will not complain because I asked for it. I tried to become President three times and I lost, but I was lucky the fourth time, I became one, so I can’t complain”

“Who asked me to do it again? Three times I ended up in the Supreme Court. The third time, I said, ‘God dey’ and the fourth time, God and technology, using the permanent voter card and the card readers, they couldn’t rig the elections; so I won.”

Speaking on the security situation in the country, Buhari said significant progress has been made in the war against insurgency.

He said Boko Haram insurgents have been able to launch attacks in recent months because “they know the area more than the soldiers”.

Buhari said: “Those in the north-east will tell you that before we came, the so-called Boko Haram used to hold about 17 local governments. Now, physically, they are not holding any local government. So they have resorted to real guerilla tactics of hit and run.

“They mobilise, hit targets and then disappear again because they know the area more than the soldiers that are defending them. Our soldiers are from Port Harcourt, Lagos, Sokoto, but they are locally there and know the terrain more than the soldiers.”

CrimeRe: Yahoo Plus And Ritual Money Doesn't Exist, Stop The Unnecessary Killings by baysol: 7:07pm On Dec 04, 2018
ChiefAzubuike:
Stop the unnecessary killings and more recently, stealing of panties and bras. Some even go to the myopic extent of eating faeces. Nigerian youths, if you chop sh*t you go just give yourself cholera or E-coli and die for nothing.

It is now saddening that every helpless mentally unstable pretty girl seen on the streets is now believed to have been used for "ritual" just like this innocent girl whose story circulated days ago on this thread https://www.nairaland.com/4873067/student-runs-mad-after-stepping

Instantly, her ordeal was attributed to being used for yahoo plus when infact it was mental disorder she had been battling for so many years. Another way an uneducated Nigerian claimed to be a rain maker months back when it was just a simple scientific schoolboy labwork involving potassium iodide.

Africa please open your eyes , our mentality is the reason we are still light years behind the western world. If you can believe you can make money from doing juju with underwears or eating faeces then never you be angry with the whites if they call you black monkey because that's what you truly are. Even bonobos won't go that low.

There is nothing like juju, there is nothing like voodoo, there is nothing like yahoo plus. Those babas performing these nonsense , you see them living in squalor and abject poverty yet they claim they can help another person make money. If it truly exist, I'd expect them to be living in mansions and luxury and the source behind it would be a secret that could only be passed down through the family lane but no , you see them living in dilapidated huts yet they claim to conjure money from the "spiritual realm".

If you want to test the full strength of your juju go to sambisa or pakistan and let shekau or the taliban test their kalashnikovs on your chest. If you need faeces, there are thousands of soakaways around whose owners will gladly see you help them reduce the brown and black, solid and watery contents.

The babas who do these things for you are only interested in your money and your free live goat or white chicken which will eventually end up in their pot of soup. Person wey go make am go make am and the reason behind it is not the concoction one baba made for you to drink. If. It coincindentally worked , it was only as a result of the natural capacity and potential you already had. Be educated.
Volunteer your bra and pants as gift to yahoo boys to test your hypothesis ngbanu. Evil spirits they us will still usurp their life later but to say because you said science say everyone must become ignorant. The physical realm for science and spiritual realm for metaphysics. If you know you know.
PoliticsRe: I Will Work Against APC Governorship Candidate - Amosun Vows by baysol: 11:18am On Dec 04, 2018
FlirtyKaren:
Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun State Governor has vowed to work against APC governorship candidate even though it is his party.

Amosun who spoke on Monday in Abeokuta at a stakeholders meeting of the APC which was attended by his preferred governorship candidate and the flagbearer of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Adekunle Akinlade, said he would not leave the APC and would contest the Ogun central senatorial election on the platform of the party next year.

The Ogun State Governor who also pledged to work for the president’s re-election bid, vowed to work against APC governorship candidate and ensure the success of Mr Akinlade and other aggrieved members in their new party.

This disclosure came after 26 aggrieved candidates of the APC loyal to the governor, announced their defection to the APM.

“When these people came, they told me they are leaving the APC, I said ‘no’ but I couldn’t stop them. In fact, Akinlade has my full support.

” I am not going to stop him, everything I have, I will use to support him. Let them try whatever they want to try, we also have our strategies and I am not going to hide behind one finger,” the governor said.

Recall that Mr Akinlade won a controversial governorship primary of the APC conducted by the party in the state. However, a panel sent by the headquarters of the party conducted a separate primary which produced Dapo Abiodun. Mr Abiodun is said to be the favoured candidate of ex-Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, and his former Ogun State counterpart, Olusegun Osoba.

“I remain in APC because that’s what those people want, they want us to leave APC but they are joking.

“ I will stay in APC to ensure that Buhari wins in Ogun State and to let them know that they can’t subvert the will of the state.

“Every day, I will campaign for President Muhammdu Buhari, we will do everything possible to ensure Buhari wins massively in Ogun, but they should not miss it.

“I, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, will not support anyone they are bringing,” he said.

The North is the number 1 problem with Nigeria
...followed by alapotopoto.... they both truncate the development of Nigeria through their demonic activities and corrupt tendencies.... which they transferred to the Yoruba through infectious compatriotism of Nigeria nationhood. its a surprise that the yorubas that supposed to be agitating for self determination are not even doing so. It's rather ironic that the crooked ones are the ones agitating for separation.
