PoliticsRe: My Stand On Who APC Should Field For The Presidency/VP - Femi Fani-kayode by baysol: 10:31am On Jan 09, 2014
Sloan: In as much as their was a "gentleman" agreement for the Northern part of the country to be president and that didn't quite workout with Yaradua, I think fair is fair: that arrangement should be honoured! Tomorrow, it might be another person from a different part of the country that may be on the receiving end and then we will have the moral standing to tell whoever it is how whatever "imperfect" arrangement that operated (created by mostly the PDP elements) and favoured them in the past must then be allowed to favour whoever is on the seat or whose turn is it at that time. My only and most important consideration is that such a person be credible, patriotic, honest, possess very strong leadership skills, be a bridge builder and not an ethnic jingoist and ready to reach out to all parts of the country to build it only, not destroy it with narrow parochial and tribalist interests.

Democracy is a game of numbers, so follow the numbers! Where are the numbers? In the North and West (majorly)! From the foregoing position, the North should get a chance to present a credible candidate who they can be sure will be accepted to other parts of the country and who must be prepared, not another Yaradua or GEJ kind of president. Next, the West because of the strong leadership and vibrant administrative credentials of the Yorubas, you can see the list from immemorial and contemporary times: Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Tunde Idiagbon, Bola Tinubu, Raji Fashola, Rauf Aregbesola, Ibikunle Amosu, and the list is virtually endless! The West enjoys practically nothing from the central governments since the days of Obasanjo and YET, it is far ahead of every other region in economy, infrastructural, development, tourism, education, science and technology, commerce, etc! Also, the Westerners are by far the most gifted planners, thinkers and builders of people and politics! Since about 15 years ago, they've build AD (successful in 1999 with several positions but was killed by the Obasanjo PDP), then they rebuilt again with AC and then morphing into ACN and making so much progress on all fronts in the West and Edo State, and then going into a strategic political merger with other parties and in less than 1 year of registration, the APC has put PDP's over 15 years of party politics to flight and shame! Also the West are the most calm and cool-headed people you can be sure to use their good sense when their are potential problems that could cause a conflagration. Finally, for their leadership and tenacity in birthing the APC with CPC, ANPP, etc; they should definitely be on the joint ticket with a northern candidate. Together, they form about 70% of all votes that could be garnered at anytime in Nigeria.

Next, they must work very hard to gain the confidence (and not just that MUST DELIVER) of our brothers in the SS and SE. Even in a family, some children will be wayward and irresponsible or not on the same page but it's up to the more sensible to show the way forward. The candidates must work hard in states like Rivers, Kwara, Nassarawa, Kogi, Benue, Imo and Edo States (who are actually close cousins of the Yorubas) to gain more of their confidence and tell them exactly what they will do and I want them to get onto it as soon as they're in government. If they can show other states how the West is able to come up with consistently higher IGR numbers, which touch the lives of the people, the next campaigns will be much easier and they will not be like the present government that now hires thousands of commenters online and people to do PR to launder their image.

Finally, the first task of this pair of candidates is to DESTROY CORRUPTION before it DESTROYS the country and everybody in it. I hope they can succeed with good planning and flawless excellent execution of their plans!
This is just a tip of the olumo rock to say the least. One can but wonder what sort of criminal Lord Lugard was to amalgamate us with avidly retrogresive and reprehensible lots from the north, east, and south south. People who no matter how well educated from Nigerian resources are never productive but divisive and are only after what Nigeria has to offer. This useless marriage of inconvenience is over this year let everyone go back to their fathers house and bear thear their bloody names. Yoruba has been sitting on the fence because of useless people parading themselves as opc, obas, obj, tinubu, that have no common interest with larger yoruba agenda and ideals other than their selfish gain in power and blood money. Yorubas kindly Ronu so that you will not mortgage the future of our children.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria At 53 - What Has Been Your Story So Far? by baysol: 10:25am On Oct 02, 2013
BellaDonaFema: When a nation gets it's independence, it gears towards greater heights. I would love to read the stories/comments of all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora: has the nation gotten to its supposed final destination, is it crawling on the road to development, is it fast developing, is the nation better-off in the hands of the Europeans or is it doing just fine on its own as a free-bird!
N/B: By the way, all of you saying happy birthday Nigeria are so wrong! It the Nation's 53yrs of independence
Nigeria became a nation state in 1914, so please do the math.
Cheers to all and sundry!!!
You don't need a babalawo to tell you that a nation that remain a toddler from inception even after 53 years of independence is on the way to the grave naturally with no relevance to its name. Absolutely nothing to cheer about. let us all desist from wishful thinking and constitute SNC asap before more blood shed will make the country both ungovernable and at war. It is obvious that this marriage of inconvenience will never work from the start. Our politics is based on tribal and religious sentiments and no one could erase that. To add salt upon injury crime and corruption add themselves to the list and in recent times it is palpably care that our so-called leaders have no national and common citizens interests at heart. What does this leave us? Let everyone go back to his tribal region and rule themselves with possible control of movement from one region to the other through the visa system to curtail those that come to other places to mess up and bring all sorts of crime and lawlesness with. Not a foolproof solution though, as humans will always be humans. At least this will stir up competitive governing in leaders trying to outdo each other. This is quite impossible under Nigerian system because some leadership groups and their sycophants will never allow equity, credibility and fare play to hold in Nigeria no matter what. History they say is the best teacher. If 100 years of Nigerian history is inadequate then a thousand years of history will be worst. This my own little contribution, however if we stick to the gun of do or die Nigeria, then Goodluck.

Our evil politians who turn the country to haven of hunger and misery are to blame. This is one of the situation where hunger never allow people to let other living organisms that God created to leave peacefully in the wild. Must everything be food alone? Nigerians still have a lot to learn in their attitude towards other living things our lives is not the only one that is important. Food for thought.

Why all this ranting and hullabaloo about Igbo this Igbo that? What is special about Igbo, didn't they say they are not Nigerians that they are Biafrans then what do they want in Lagos and south west in the first place? If there was indeed a country(Chinua Achebe) why can't they carry their carapace of problems and crime back to the east where they belong. South west is not a dumping ground of unwanted people. North can't even tolerate your greedy lot and you've been nothing but pain to everyone in Nigeria, yet even now you have all the reasons to be Biafra at this point in history, but you choose to go and leave in other mans land instead of yours. They started to buy land and build in their land of sojourn and even become boastful as if the indigenes of south west are enslaved by them. Igbos be warned of your excesses before you become victim in South west worst than the north you've been chased from. To be forewarned is to be fore harmed.
PoliticsRe: Fasehun Wont Forgive Al-Mustapha Were Kudirat His Wife – Gani Adams by baysol: 7:34pm On Jul 20, 2013
Xeedorf: Fasehun Won’t Forgive Al-Mustapha Were Kudirat His Wife – Gani Adams

The factional leader of Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, in this interview with ADEOLA BALOGUN, questions the relationship between the founder of the organisation and the recently released chief security officer to the late Sanni Abacha, Major Hamza Al Mustapha

How do you feel about the court judgment that freed Major Hamza Al Mustapha?

With our experience with June 12, I am not happy with the judgment. Perhaps people have forgotten that it was not only Kudirat Abiola that died as a result of the struggle; what of people like Pa Alfred Rewane, Sola Omotehinwa? They were killed. Alex Ibru was shot and he didn’t really get off the effect of the shooting until he died. In the process also, Pa Abraham Adesanya was shot, even though he survived it. Later, the symbol of the struggle, Chief Moshood Abiola, died in mysterious circumstances. It was tragic enough that both husband and wife died in the struggle. The judge said that there was no enough evidence to link Al Mustapha with Kudirat’s murder; so the question remains: who killed Kudirat Abiola? She was gunned down in broad daylight and Sergeant Rogers confessed that he shot her but he got orders from above to shoot her. That was during the regime of General Sanni Abacha and don’t forget, Al Mustapha was a very powerful figure in the government. Supposing MKO died but his wife Kudirat survived, do you think his business empire would just perish like that? That is why it is so painful that the family was left empty handed without justice. I am sure that Chief Gani Fawehinmi would have filed a case immediately Al Mustapha was set free if he was still alive. Unfortunately, those who benefitted from June 12 apart from Dr. Fasehun kept quiet without condemning the judgment. I condemned the judgment immediately even though I don’t have any issue personally with Al Mustapha. I was made by June 12 and if not because of it, there wouldn’t be anything like Oodua Peoples Congress. The election was annulled in 1993 and OPC was formed in 1994. Fasehun was one of the beneficiaries of June 12. How many people knew about Fasehun as a figure in Yoruba before the annulment of the June 12 election?

But the OPC was there shepherding Al Mustapha about when he was discharged.

It’s not correct to say OPC was accompanying him about. It was Dr. Fasehun that you saw. Don’t forget, we have two different organisations under two different leaders. Fasehun runs his own organisation in Century Hotel while our own secretariat is at Palmgroove. Dr. Fasehun leads his own OPC while I Gani Adams, lead my own OPC and the two of us are not operating on the same principle. Normally OPC could have been one but the old man has never allowed it. Assuming I have not continued the struggle, Dr Fasehun would have sold it. What is he looking for? Mustapha said that he paid a visit to Prophet T B Joshua after he was released, did the prophet follow him to Kano? He said he visited some Yoruba leaders in Ibadan, did he mention their names? Why did Dr. Fasehun have to be there, even waving to the people? You cannot compare me with Dr. Fasehun by any standard. I have never done anything against the wishes of Yoruba race since we started this struggle in 1993. I have never compromised the interest of the race even when things were very rough. Even when Fasehun was in detention, I refused to compromise; a lot of people wanted to hijack OPC then but I did not. Then I was still in my late 20s with nothing whatsoever as earthly possession. Then, the only thing I had were just four pieces of clothing but I held on to the ideas of the struggle. It’s so unfortunate that Dr Fasehun is behaving the way he is doing now. What does he want? A medical doctor for that matter; he is one of the best doctors around, acupuncture expert. I don’t know why he suddenly turned himself to be Al Mustapha’s bodyguard. Is it because of material things that he wants to destroy the image of Yoruba race?

Don’t forget, Dr. Fasehun is floating a political party, the Unity Party of Nigeria.

Well, if that is so, he is making a mistake. A typical Hausa/Fulani would not join a core Yoruba party. We still have tribal sentiment with us in Nigeria and we should stop deceiving ourselves. Why did the Northerners refuse to join the Action Congress of Nigeria until they called for merger? He is deceiving himself if he thinks he can use Al Mustapha’s release to sell his UPN. If you watched the event in Kano very well, the crowd were not cheering him but their son, Al Mustapha. Maybe Mustapha has promised to help him in politics but I know that there is more to it. Dr. Fasehun is saying Yoruba should forgive and forget; if it was his wife that was murdered, will he easily forget that? I know Dr. Fasehun very well, he will not forgive you if you take away his N10,000. Mind you, he has been doing something like this in the past. During the 10th anniversary of the death of Sanni Abacha, he was in the same Kano where he said Abacha could have been the best Nigerian leader if he did not die. This is Abacha that has been adjudged the most corrupt Nigerian leader till date. This is the same Abacha that gave instruction that everybody that proclaimed anything about June 12 should be shot or detained. I was lucky to interact with the late Kudirat Abiola; she remained the pillar of the struggle when her husband was detained. She was the one sponsoring the struggle then and Fasehun can not come out to say that he did not benefit from it. The woman was the one coordinating the struggle then and that was the reason she became the target and was killed. Why should Fasehun, who benefitted from the woman now work against her?

But the OPC may dissolve into UPN because the leader of the organisation is spreading the party.

That is what I am saying, it is Dr. Fasehun, not me and my followers. If you go to Century Hotel now, there is no structure of OPC there any more. The only people you see with him are the UPN people, and he is still claiming that he is the founder of OPC. You call yourself the founder of OPC, yet you are the chairman of UPN, how will you run the two together? If he wants to go into politics, let him renounce the struggle. If he is ready to compromise just to buy the interest of the north because of his party, we will not allow him to destroy the hope of the Yoruba race. You can’t be portraying yourself as leader of OPC and working against the interest of Oodua. Kudirat and her husband MKO were descendants of Oodua. What Fasehun is doing negates the struggle in every way. Yerima Shetima is a friend and he has spoken to me a lot about Al Mustapha and I told him that I would not work against my race even with trillions of naira. Another prominent football coach in Nigeria has equally approached me about Al Mustapha and I told him to leave me out of it. Yoruba will not forget those who betrayed them; they have not forgotten the issue of Awolowo and Akintola or those who betrayed them during June 12. Supposing God did not use me to keep up the struggle, where will OPC be today? People should watch out.

Maybe Dr. Fasehun is doing all this because of the pipeline security contract.

What does becoming bodyguard to Al Mustapha have to do with the pipeline contract? How much would they pay him for the pipeline security? Most of the young boys who got contracts worth billions of naira have not compromised the principles of their race. Why would Dr Fasehun do so and this is a contract that has not even been awarded. How much is the cost of the pipeline contract that Fasehun wants to sell his race? How much of the money can he spend before he goes away? This is a man close to 80 years. I don’t pray for his death but he is an old man and should borrow a leaf from his contemporaries like Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Ajayi Olanihun and Chief Fasoranti. Dr. Fasehun should not destroy the name before God calls him. Yoruba value name more than money. The children of Obafemi Awolowo are benefiting from the legacy of their father today. Even on the issue of the pipeline, Dr. Fasehun has been selling forms to people promising them job. And this is a contract that has not been approved.

Are you alleging fraud?

I don’t know but the information at our disposal indicates that he has been selling forms, go and investigate. He has been selling forms for N2000, N5000 depending on the location. You want to give somebody job and you are taking money from him. He has made millions from that. He sold forms even in Edo State which is not part of the South West. The job we are bidding for does not even cover the entire South West. Osun and Ekiti states are not part of it. It’s only Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Ondo but Fasehun has sold forms in Edo. He is also selling form to mobilise people to the UPN; you can see how cunning the man is. Why is he using the pipeline to cajole people? Fasehun will never make friend for five years without crisis unless three things are not involved; money, beautiful ladies and positions. Even those people who introduced him to Al Mustapha, he has sidelined them. We have other things that I can not tell you about his relationship with Al Mustapha. Al Mustapha too should be careful. The feelers we are getting about this issue are disturbing. His role in Al Mustapha issue is affecting my own image because those who heard that the founder of OPC was in Kano with Al Mustapha are disturbed and I have received a lot of calls from prominent people regarding that. Fasehun is now calling Al Mustapha his own son whereas he has never shown the world his

Richbee: The extent of disgust to the lagos badagry express way is unspeakable. Ever since I've known that road it hasn't for once been without traffic. The level of damage this year around is just... Damn!!!. A journey that should be about 30 minutes takes close to 3 to 4 hours all because of the little pot holes here and there. This road isn't just a local one, its an international one cos its the major route to some neighbouring countries. You can't blame residents for staying here cos the majority of them are landlords. They own their houses. I'd love for the government to really do something about it and to do it fast as residents walk on foot almost everyday. They suffer on their way to work, suffer to get income for a living, suffer same ordeal back home. Then tell me how the lifespan of such wouldn't be cut short. If we have a government I do imploy them to act fast. The government of lagos state was said to start the repairs and recreation for over 4 years now and still @ dis time no change has been done. I don't even know who to blame, the government or the contractors.
Nigerians are fast learning that corruption, nepotism and get rich quick syndrom will not lead us anywhere. The people need to put good leaders that will compete to development their interests and let everything boil down to what were your achievements when you were in power than what ill-gotten wealth have you amassed. Those who amassed them in the past where are thy today? Either dead or are in self imposed house arrest what a shame.

PoliticsRe: Yoruba May Determine Who Wins The Presidency In 2015 by baysol: 8:05am On May 08, 2013
Gbawe: Can it really be stated authoritatively that GEJ has "done much for the SS/SE" if we are talking about ordinary folks and not militants, cronies and bootlickers, recipients of political office, fuel subsidy scammers, oil bunkerers and sycophants? As for the SW, and despite the hollow noise of "marginalization" by Yoruba disgruntled PDP element, GEJ has done no worse to the region than OBJ and Yar Adua and sensible Yorubas know not to expect anything of any PDP President wherever he hails from. It really is time we look beyond ethnicity to seek out the sort of President who can take brave and far reaching actions and decisions that will transform Nigeria drastically.
Gej has not done something for this and that etc etc. Where is the sense of Nationality here except monkey chop monkey wipe mouth politics that is run in Nigeria. That is why Nigeria will never work because of what these breed "Corruption". Isn't it clear that project Nigeria is a failed venture in view of the foregoing? Don't let us fool ourselves, without doing full retrospect through SNC at no other appropriate time than 100 years of marriage of inconvenience by 2014, We are all sitting on a keg of gun powder thicking away until appointed time. This will make Boko Haram incidence look like a child's play. We are too sentimental Why should Tinubu or even the most performing governor for eye to see Fashola be second filddle to Buhari for pete sake? If buhari was so good why was he checkmated by the Crooked General IBB while is strong man Idiagbon was away. What did he achieve personally during his regime in the 80s except for the wave he rode in the shadows of General Idiagbon the power house of his regime. There is always this conspiracy theory of the fear of the unknown when it comes to ruling by real yorubas (not OBJ- Fault me by asking yourself why was he recycled and the onlt yoruba in power since independence) BY THE REST OF THE POLITICAL NIGERIA ESPECIALLY THE NORTHERN HEGEMONISTIC WEAKLINGS. All this turn by politics has to come to an end. Nigeria does not belong to any person or group but only to Nigerians. The above warning goes to the Yoruba please for pete sake Ronu.

PoliticsRe: Repentant Abia Criminals Demand For Amnesty by baysol: 9:51am On Apr 17, 2013
If bastards and criminals can be granted amnesty and paid huge sums monthly to keep them quiet for a while. What really is GEJ decieving himself as doing? Hard working and law abiding citizens are being taxed out of the money that is not enough to meet their basic need in the first place. Now tell me where is justice and equity here?

PoliticsRe: Jonathan To Commission Steel Plant Thursday! by baysol: 9:27am On Apr 17, 2013
Which kin Jonathan dey work? Why people of obodo Nigeria, mumu die like this when it comes to followership? This is pure privately initiated project in the first place. It will happen GEJ or no GEJ, so you tribalistic myopic ones, don't count you chickens yet. Your so called president stole Nigerian money(I mean money meant for you and I) to set up refineries in Malaysia, taking away not only money but employment for our people to another more developed country at the expence of Nigeria. You see your GEJ has a lot to answer after 2015. Until Nigerians realised that equally important to leadership is followership and they should hence forth not beg for their rights but must demand it from the evil beings in political gowns that does not belong, in anyway, to them because it was handed to them by hook or crook. I know Nigeria will survive but the same cannot be said for some people.
