Do your list, weigh your pros and cons and I pray God leads you aright.

Excellent write up
To add to this, akin3102 for example in my field ie the pharmaceutical industry, Canada is dead in that regard . There are virtually no reputable pharma firms in Canada. Zero. Zilch. Nada. So if I run to Canada because I want to get PR quickly. After PR what next? Hunger? Poor career mobility and improvement.

Weather, stricter graduate funding, higher cost of living, higher taxes await you in Canada. I guess that's the downturn of having an easier path to PR.

Ita not easy anywhere bro.
May God favour us all.

I have met good people in my life and Stewee is certainly one of them.

Despite all the childishness on Nairaland these days, it's good to know there are some decent good guys out there.

Thanks a lot Stewee.
I had to write this. (bite me if you must) *tongue out,

Just concluded with orientation. Was kind of stressful. School resuming on sept 1.

Guys I have a question. Will it be possible for I as an f-1 student to take summer classes say for some prerequisites that I would use for dentistry or say medicine. And if I can, must it be done in the school I'm schooling in or can it be done in a university closer to me

I presume you're an undergraduate who wishes to attend medical or dental school.
Summer classes aren't bad but the details you provided are sketchy at best.
What is your current major? Why deficiencies do you think will count against you?
You need to understand how admissions to medical schools work so you don't take classes you may not need.
Do more research on requirements of medical and dental schools viz a viz your current major and first determine if you need extra classes.

If incidentally you need the classes, they have to be at your school so as to have a cohesive application.
Needless to say, medical school is prohibitively expensive. Plan accordingly.
Best wishes.

We are going back to our land...Which includes solid minerals of course.

It's a good proposal but we run a really bloated government.
Civil servants everywhere statewide and federal.

We can't fund these money gulpers with agriculture and solid minerals.
If we don't become manufacturers and exporters and revitalize our Industries, Nigeria will be in deep shit. Literally.

After much screening.. I was called to window 1 *chinese-american guy*
Dude has been dishing out blue forms since 19kiridum

Me: *smiles* Good morning
Vo: Morning, please place your right fingers on the biometric machine
Me: *placing my right/left with all smiles*
Vo: Pass me your documents?

Vo: Did you write any standard test?
Me: Yes.. I did
Vo: Can I see the results?
Me: *looks for the result of both toefl and gre, and showed him through the glass*
Vo: I can't see it from here, can you pass it underneath
Me: *passes it*
Vo: where did you print this from? How many schhols did you apply to?
Me: I printed from the result portal, I applied to 2 other schools.
Vo: which and did they admit you?
Me: Uni Virginia Charlottesville and Uni Kentucky Bowling green.. yes they admitted me
Vo: *looking at me* YOUR SCORES ARE LOW? How come
Me: I guess the test is not a criteria for admission

Vo: *types scantily* errmm Unfortunately. .. bla bla bla
Me: *feeling dizzy already* please what are your reasons?
Vo: you will see it in the blue form I am giving to you.

Well.. I scored 282.5 GRE and 76 TOEFL. I am Cisco Associate certified Network Engineer

Sorry for the delay.
If I had to add your reason for the low GRE score was off putting to the VO
You needed to come across as academically competent. You wrote the GRE which is a fairly tough exam, that shows academic drive. You could have completed it by telling him something else apart from the fact that the reason for the low score was because "it wasn't needed...."

Refire and you'll be good.

Hello All the Gurus in the House!!!!

This question is specifically directed to the Gurus Abroad. Please what means do you think is the cheapest to make calls from USA to Nigeria. (Note: My family do not have access to good internet connection in Nigeria). I have been surfing the internet and I came across calleasy, nonoh, google voice, viber, skype, rebtel but I will like to hear from the gurus.

Secondly, is it better to change Naira to Dollar before travelling at the Bank or the Black market? If the former is the best please what are the processes involved? I am currently debating this issue with my parents.

I called you. Didn't go through.

Plz my good friends, I think I'm finished here. Got to my school today for the reg. and dey told me my scholarship was a mistake that I have to pay tuition fee and my balance to be is. 9k dollars. I'm just confused dont know what to do. Any advise ?

The story is quite hard to believe because scholarships aren't just signified on i20. They are communicated in emails, which are usually duely signed.

But for the benefit of doubt.
You shouldn't take it easy on them.

If it requires seeing the president of the university, do it.
Your 9K must be approved. Worst case scenario, they won't approve it next year and you'll have 12 months to figure out your next move.
Science/Technology / Re: Missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 Plane Wreckage Found Off The Coast Of Africa? by bbdd: 10:17pm On Jul 30, 2015
degbads:
Just a side comment here, i used to be a regular nairlander but for the past 7 or 8 months this has just been by second time logging on to nairaland, the main reason i stopped visiting nairaland was the quality (or lack thereof) of the comments from fellow readers.
i read this same story on Yahoo, and just by reading the comments i already gathered a lot of intelligent information, many of those commenting already know there have only been 4 Boeing 777 crashes - 3 on land thus narrowing this further to MH 370, i read analysis of how ocean currents work and how this might have affected final landing place of the piece of debris, i read about shear, stress and impact analysis on the piece of debris, i also gained very good information and comparisons on previous airplane crashes, simply put, i gained a lot of information and became more intelligent just by reading the comments
But on Nairaland, its a very different matter, just read all the comments here and see if they make u any more intelligent, let's not even bring up the FTC space bookers (pls is that still done or have the mods dealt with it). i am not dissing my compatriots at all - i am glad to be a Nigerian, but i just begin to suspect we may not be very informed and erudite in this country o, try comparing the diction (not accent) of a 5 year old child raised in USA and one raised here, they are miles apart.
I remember a 'Nigerian' Pastor once giving an illustration, he said whenever he is taking healing testimonies at crusades in South Africa, people from that region are able to say, i was suffering from acute tendonitis, or muscular dystrophy or whatever (i am not in the medical field) and then God healed me, but they were able to accurately name their diseases, but most times in Nigeria, what obtained was 'my body dey pain me for here, my leg swell up, or i dey feel one kind for here etc.
You can also analyse how our politicians talk and see more.
My point is, i think there is something very wrong with our education culture and we might need to work on this particularly those of us in the younger generation - let's pay more attention to education.

You can read the article on Yahoo here and read the comments and compare with ours on Nairaland:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/french-aviation-expert-plane-wreckage-170030671.html

that said sha, i still think Nigerians are still very special, very religious, very generous and free spirited. I love Nigeria

So true
Nairaland is full of dumb kids who can't write complete sentences in good English
The quality of discourse here is so poor.
I switched my intellectual discourses to Twitter.
Nairaland is currently for banter.
