Help4rmabove: Good Morning, I need your advice. I have admission offer of MSc from a University in Ohio. The offer is with GTA, therefore it is fully funded (full tuition waiver) and a generous monthly stipends. I have to provide for health insurance, mandatory fees and upkeep. The total amount I need to show is $6k. I have well over this amount in my statement. Also, I have a B1/B2 which is still valid for over a year now. Please what are: 1) My chances of obtaining F1 visa 2) Has anyone with full funded admission letter being declined before. Thanks First off congrats on the offer. You've done a good job to land such a good offer. Secondly, If you have to show $6K then it's not fully funded. Fully funded means you're not going to show anything at the consulate because the total amount you're being offered exceeds your requirement. This includes health insurance, fees, housing etc. Either way, People with funding(partial or full) get visas sharply barring a major eff up. Besides you have a valid visa. You shouldn't have any problems. Work on your confidence and you'll be fine. Good luck. |

DanjaNinja: I would be cautious with such recommendations cos level of intelligence, familiarity with the subject matter and learning capacities vary widely with individuals. A score of 321 (thats about 75th percentile) with a month of preparation simply means that your friend is indeed extremely intelligent and has some unstated advantages - strong background in maths & verbal as well as good testing skills. My point is before making such recommendations, be mindful that all fingers are not equal then give realistic estimates. If the individual is a quick learner, fine, the estimate would hold. However, if the individual requires a bit more time to learn the material, you estimate would also account for that. I don't know about you, but i usually recommend at LEAST two months of intensive study. This is not a declaration just an estimate based on observation and multiple experiences from multiple sources. One can do well with less or more time. It all depends on the individuals learning capacity. Exactly!!!!!!! |

whitefriars: Which one is permanent Visa pleas explain? me its school i want to go and school and use the experience for my company which i have incorporated here in naija, as i love to be in the Lab. I got for delaware and Clarkson and i heard clarkson is one of the best engineering schools in the USA even though its a private and expensive school but am willing to give it a short believing to work hard and get my grades up to be able to get better financial aids. @bolded Says who? It's not even in top 50. Neither is it top 100. It ranked 111 according to US news. The most authoritative source for school ranking. Certainly not a school to spend hard earned dough on. Besides, don't hope on a private school giving funding. They rarely give full and even the balance is usually too steep. Only a select few elite private schools can give few funding. Clarkson is not one. Bros find another school and do well on GRE and get funding if you can |

Zeezahbee Boss lady!!! how far. How's pharmacy school? Do you know much about this fpgee and naplex exam. A friend here is disturbing my life. I told her to write exam to be a pharm tech first and later find her feet within the profession. I hope I advised her well sha. Just want a second opinion because I read she has to repeat internship and the quality of our medical /rx schools can't compete with theirs there if she wants to enter the profession directly without being in the system for a short time. She's smart tho. Pharm salaries start at >110K with benefits . but tech is like 40-50k. She got a migrant visa. |

buzibiza: @Ctemi, Medicine is a 2nd degree program in the US as u hv to do a bachelors degree in Premed, or other basic science courses. Medical school is however very difficult to get into as u have to maintain and graduate with a very high GPA. Some schools do not admit non-residents to their program. Most Nigerians that go for their first degrees so that they can do medicine afterwards don't end up being medical doctors. I had about 8 friends in secondary school leave to the US, only one got in. I dont want to discourage u tho.
I am a doctor but studied in Nigeria bt I will advice u go directly to medical school in the Caribbean or Eastern Europe then take the USMLE exams to get into residency which would be quicker and more economical since the final price is working as a doctor in the US. I am going for my masters in Public health bt will switch into a residency program when am through with my exams. Good luck on ur choice tho... Got friends currently doing residency through this route. Their advice might be helpful. PM me. It's not so easy doing residency in the US, honestly I know what they went through before getting placements. And not all of them did. But those that did, are big boys |

buzibiza: it would be difficult unless after some form of aids like scholarships or graduate assistantships. I advice in addition to his GPA which would be converted by WES, he should also have good standardized test results, recommendation letters, and statement of purpose. He needs to thoroughly go thru the schools in "www.ceph.org/accredited". However some unaccredited schools could be cheaper... University of Kent and one other. Will post when I confirm. It's not advisable for anyone to attend an unaccredited program just because it's cheap. It's the persons loss after graduation |

zeezahbee: No, it's hard to get such
Better write GRe and get some assistant.
@bbdd Excatho You'll get cheap mph programs you can even write usmle, if you pass and get residency position you're made for life. Write gre, pass WELL and get some tuition rebate. Goodluck |
