It marks the beginning of an era of transparency in Nigeria for a sitting governor to have been evicted. More of this please. ![]() Fresh Air! ![]() |
2mch: PDP at it again. They try to pass of simple solutions to their benefit. I support removal of immunity clause from president to government public officials. But ONLY after their terms have been completed. While in office, immunity must be maintained. PDP will like to use the removal of immunity clause to silence the opposition. Nigeria can never be a one party country again! At least if the government officials know they will be persecuted after leaving office, they will be more careful. This should also extend to all arms of the government, especially Judicial. This means we can prosecute OBJ and IBB. GEJ and his subsidy queens in the nearest future.PDP did not write the constitution. The army handed it down, so talking about PDP is a weak thing, formulaic and without direction. The immunity clause for governors shows how the ex-generals planned to keep Nigeria as a cow to be perpetually milked even if the people die. We are in their pockets and they are shielded by the law to ra'pe us again and again. Ain't you tired of the mess? The greatest wisdom we can have today is understanding the power dynamics of Nigeria. Who fits where and who pulls what strings. Every youth owes it to themselves to learn these things or remain enslaved forever. The immunity clause needs to go for Nigeria to progress. It is standard practise the World over for the President to be immune until the end of their tenure, but there is absolutely no reason why governors should not be accountable in court while in office. |
obiajurud: jst lik i said b4 now that i feel very ashamed talking of jonathan because i feel he has disapointd me n many nigerians. I expectd him 2 have done smthing by now, instead he keeps on making plans dat are nt working. Yes there is time but no time again because his started it this n ended up doing nothing and he died. It is my prayer dat jonathan's regime wil nt be like that.On average, it takes two years for a govt to establish itself. GEJ spent close to a year with inherited machinery and has spent another with his own machinery. I would expect to begin seeing very solid results in the next few months. Take a look at Obama for example, just last year, his popularity was in the doldrums with wave after wave of attacks by the tea parties and accusations of betrayal and failure from diverse quarters. The man seemed hesitant and unsure, a woeful distance from the guy that strutted the campaign trail like a prize peacock. But look at him today, 3 years in, popular and totally comfortable in his skin. So long as GEJ means well, we will all be satisfied in the end. |

achi4u: what is he still doing in Abuja after being a elected as gov of Zamfara state?,atleast he should've relocated by now or is zamfara not worth living again?,We have governors abandoning their states, left right and center. Aregbesola governs Osun from Lagos, while Abdulaziz Yari governs Zamfara from Abuja. Its really sad. These governors need to be called to account, they weren't voted in only to share awuf from Abuja. How can any state become financially independent of Abuja when the governor can't even bear the sight of his state, talkless of living there? |
This is a potent testimonial for those of the mind to remove governors immunity from prosecution. Why on Earth would a governor, the number one citizen of a state in whom enforcement of the law resides, refuse to pay rent? How? ![]() This sort of impunity must stop and the governors must be made to serve and respect the people who put them in power. Enough is enough. The man should be in jail. |
Governor evicted By Gbade Ogunwale 09/05/2012 00:27:00 Gov Yari Gov Yari Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has been thrown out of his Abuja home. A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory declared that he had been occupying the house illegally. The property, a five- bedroom duplex with two- room boys’ quarter, is located on Number 1, Fatai Williams Street, Asokoro, Abuja. The eviction order, signed by Justice Jude Okeke, also ordered Governor Yari to pay N8, 162, 028. 00, representing profit on two years’ rent; N10, 000 cost; and N10, 000 warrant fees. The judgment, which was given on June 11, 2010, had ordered the governor to yield possession of the house to the owner of the property, Sir Ernest Elochukwu, but the order was not complied with. Consequently, Justice Okeke approved Yari’s eviction on April 26. Officials of the Judgment Enforcement Unit of the Federal Capital Territory stormed the premises at about 11 am yesterday with about eight armed policemen to carry out the eviction. The Governor’s personal effects were taken out of the house. They would be moved to the court. Copies of the eviction order pasted on the walls of the building reads: “Whereas as at a court holden on 11thJune 2010, it was adjudged that the plaintiff was entitled to possession of the premises mentioned in the particulars annexed to the affidavit.” On the personal effects being taken away, the document stated: “The goods and chattles are not to be sold until after the end of five days next, following the day of which they were seized, unless they are of a perishable nature or at the request of the defendant.” The implication of the above is that the Governor’s personal effects may be sold after five days of eviction. The owner of the property has been in a running battle with Yari over the said property since 2010. The Governor was said to have rented the property in 2008 when he was a member of the House of Representatives. But he claimed to have bought the property from Obinna Kanu in 2010 without the knowledge of the owner. Kanu is on the run and the police have declared him wanted. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/45988-governor-evicted.html |
Take your turn on the queue. . . line up behind Physics and wait for me to call you for your own narration of your roots and how you ended up in the creek.
Low self-esteem is your problem and it shows. Its really sad. Keep on waxing fairy tales as your history, because you think it makes you belong. It doesn't. It only shows you up as a jerk clutching at straws. When will you start your own KKK or Nazi party so that other pathetic clods in your category of men with lil di.cks can join in? |
people are discussing empires and great civilizations that live above sea level, leeches that live in mud buried in the coastal reef is talking.
It is the low self esteem in you that expesses itself in ethnic bigotry. It is that same low self-esteem that leads people like you to forge history. That same low self-esteem causes you to be engrossed in the revisionist "history" you have forged. Its like the KKK, Nazi's, BNP and other bunches of mad men. Pathetic. |
^ Your problem is that you are not objective about what led to our past failures and you seem to be overcome by the low self-esteem we have identified as a pillar of the problems present day Africa is bedevilled with. You believe that you are inferior, we don't. |
Sagamite: You are a shyt licking person!"person! person! person!" "Cretin! Cretin! Cretin!" Do you know more words or does your brain stammer? Lol! Sagamite, the romance "section intellectual" is sinking to his expected low lows. What can a scarab do, but roll shiit and get ecstatic about its odour; you are what you are, Sagamite; a brain dead, attention seeking weed. Your single redeeming grace on this thread is that you have at least made an effort to be objective in places (proof that the worst of fools can be redeemed). Going through your profile is like studying an id!ots point of view. Its like a bullion van load of foolishness was shipped into your head. Next time I visit the zoo, I'll look out for you, bro. Enjoy your winsh meeting. Bye. |
Sagamite: You are a person!I see that you have a new toy word to repeat like a broken record. It must be really sad being you. |
There are no intellectual minds here to discuss with. Its just going to turn into one of those silly boko harem threads where things are plucked out of thin air and putrid anuses without the least understanding, while id!otic assertions are made with no backing. So I'm out. |
Sagamite: You are a fcking cretin!Dude, keep entertaining the people with your bewildering arsenal of stup!d ways. Its hilarious, bruv. Enjoy your boko haram-like thread and do what you do best, which is seeking attention for your pathetically low self esteemed soul. Bye. |
Sagamite: You are a person!Military grade stup!dity is all you can come up with, time after time. Proven fact. It must be sad to be an attention seeking fool like you. Enjoy your boko festival with your fellow winshes. Afterall winshes must fly (even if empty headed). |
The only two near perfect versions of past history you can get in Southern Nigeria are the histories as related by the Edo's and Ijaws. Every other history is made up. It is only within the histories related by the Edo's and Ijaws that you can find verifiable dates and absolutely provable descriptions. The story of Ekhaladeran (Oduduwa), Esagho etc cannot be disputed. |
^ You are a cretin indeed.
Is Beaf on leave??
Its funny how you winshes start silly threads like this and hope to attract reasonable people. This is a thread of the winshes, by the winshes, for the winshes; your only gleeful spectator is boko haram. It takes something of a fool not to see what has gone on around them for a year. I don't indulge fools. Thank you. |
manny4life: As for me, I do not support the "TOTAL REMOVAL" of the immunity clause because what it does is it exposes government to different types of litigation. However, they can make certain exemptions such as in the case of crimes such as theft, treason, etc, thus the clause doesn't cover them.True, this is a reasoned position that will stop frivolous cases like governors being sued for snatching someones girlfriend etc. Corruption and insecurity are easily the most concerning and destabilising issues as far as people in power are concerned. There have been cases of governors stealing and even setting up groups like boko haram, only for us to find that they and those linked to them cannot be tried because of the immunity clause. This happens even after they have left power, because they always somehow find a means to be relevant in their home states where the sitting governors immunity can shield them. |
bakila: It does not help thge common man to have the clause removed because no Attorney General will convict the Governor that appoint him. If the President wants to force the Governors to support him all he has to do is unless EFCC, ICPC, NSCDC, NDLEA, SSS, CUSTOMS ET AL to prosecute the Governor who will come to his sense and support oga.Do you want to test what you have just said? Well the only way to do that is vote with our feet and placards for the removal of the clause. Accountability must begin somewhere. Nigeria cannot continue to remain a jungle where politicians are gods above the law. We must empower one another to take down the edifices to protect corruption and impunity that these people have built. Please forgive my language in the following lines. I'm from Delta state where the governor has just used more than 7billion in a week to clear some phucking heap of sand. I want to sue that guy. There are similar stories of wanton waste and governmental stup!dity from across the nation, because the governors are not accountable to anyone. I can assure you that the removal of the clause will lead to such an avalanche of court cases that we will need a special commission or maybe even import legal experts to help with the mess. Our governors and LG bosses do fuckall anyway, and we from the street really need a means to keep them on their toes and serving the people. If your fear is abuse of the removal by the President, do you think an empowered people cannot remove their President? Dude, the removal of the immunity clause is the closest thing to a peaceful revolution that Nigeria can get and God knows we need a revolution to cure the rampant madness across the land. We must demand and get accountability. ![]() |
