Nadanbata:
1) People are asking why GEJ is slow to react. Becuase this guy + his PDP mates are playing chess with the Nigerian people. 100% they know what's goin on. They have even exposed themselves from what has been said before if you do analysis.
2) There is no 'Boko Haram' as the group orginally came out. Now their name has just been hijacked. Every single attack its 'boko haram'. No evidence at all. Ask them who 'Boko Haram' is and nobody knows. Who is this spokesman Qaqa? How did he suddenly become spokesman?
3) Use your brain you think Boko Haram is that sophisticated? To bomb UN, coordinate 'selected hits? Ofc there is spies giving them orders on what to hit. High ranking people within or close to the govt. Helping logistics and funding.
All of you boko haram lovers can start shedding your useless crocodile tears. The same goes to proudly9ja.
You think spilling innocent blood is politics.

If you like, tell a thousand diversionery and daft stories to cover up. proudly9ja even mentioned the Abuja bomb blasts for which people are in jail in South Africa and Nigeria, because he thinks the average Nigerian is a fool.

MEND gave Yaradua problems too. Yaradua dealt with them effectively using his own methods. He didn't hide behind religious or ethnic bias to solve that issue.

Jona should deal with Boko Haram. Jona told us in 2010 that he knows the people sponsoring Boko Haram. Over one year and many innocent Nigerian and foreign lives lost, not ONE of these 'sponsors' has been brought to book. In legal terms, Im sure he can be tried for complicity and manslaughter.

Boko Haram Hideout Uncovered in Northern Cameroon!
Wednesday, January 04, 2012
By Divine Ntaryike Jr
On New Year’s Eve, the Nigerian government temporarily shut down its land boundaries with Cameroon, Chad and Niger as a means of impeding crossborder activities by militants of the radical Islamic terrorist group, the Boko Haram.

And while the impacts of that decision are only beginning to be felt in Cameroon’s predominantly Muslim northern regions, with reports of rising fuel prices and stranded traders, authorities there are almost certain they have blown the cover on a Boko Haram refuge.

Reports indicate that members of the extremist group are increasingly present in Lagdo, a cosmopolitan settlement in the North Region, following calls for vigilance by local administrative authorities in the regional headquarters Garoua.

“They are easily identifiable with their bizarre dressing.  They wear long beards and red or black headscarves,” Peter Kum, a reporter with the French language daily, La Nouvelle Expression reported Tuesday, January 3.  According to him, since several months Lagdo locals have testified that the strangers are combing surrounding villages and actively preaching anti-Western sermons, establishing units and proposing huge amounts of money to those willing to follow them.

Presiding at a December 15 security coordination conclave devoted to maintaining peace and order before, during and after the 2011 end-of-year festive period, the Governor of the North Region, El HadjGambo Haman did not mince words.  He instructed security forces to be on the alert, noting the increasing influx and presence of Boko Haram militants in parts of the region.

“The Boko Haram being chased from Nigeria’s northeast, as well as thousands of runaway Chadian soldiers in irregular situation here must be closely monitored to avoid unwanted trouble throughout the national territory,” he warned.  Separate sources suspect that the presence of the extremist Boko Haram militants has soared steadily following increasing clampdowns on them by the Nigerian government especially following the Christmas Day blasts that left close to fifty dead.

Security sources and administrative officials in the North Region, speaking on condition of anonymity, say for the time being, there is no need to panic.  They are claiming that intensified intelligence monitoring implies the activities of the terrorists are under control.  “We cannot begin to arrest suspects because the law does not allow for that.  At the moment, they are not breaking the law,” one said.

Following the fatal Christmas Day attacks in Nigeria claimed by the group, authorities in Cameroon’s Far North Region, which also shares porous borders with Nigeria, have also reinforced surveillance.  Several Quran learning centers have been reportedly shut down, while Islam teachers are being closely watched by intelligence operatives.  Many of them are grumbling following several interrogations they have been put through.

I believe that they do have bases in Yobe and Borno, but most of them must be coming across the border to hit Nigeria and withdraw back to Cameroon. That could be why it is difficult to get a hold on them.

We basically need to start thinking about invading Cameroon to destroy them.

what shows that they are from cameroun?
Add two and two, the attacks occured in Adamawa, close the the Cameroonian border and the former border areas with Cameroon in Borno have been closed with the state of emergency there. Study the map. Boko haram is clearly coming through the mountains between Cameroon and Nigeria:

Why do you lie so much?
Is it not enough that you people are sponsoring a protest from abroad on the pretext that you are for the masses? You tell dangerous lies, because slowly, but surely, the hands of you cranks, the vipers and vultures that have held the country to ransome since Independence are being forever removed from their honeypots of corruption. Nigeria is at a defining moment and you are defeated.

One question: why do you guys seem to be coordinating with boko haram? They have been timing their killings to the protests and here you are praising their courage and "stomach." Also, who are the godlike "the owners of Nigeria" you mentioned below? Why are they sponsoring protests?

Gbawe:

Funny stuff!

If you cannot tell that the so-called protest leaders love boko haram, then there is very little you can see. No normal would person protest against the removal of subsidies that are to their own future benefit, especially when there is the much more important issue of boko haram. You also need to ask your protest organisers why they put pressure on labour not to negotiate.

You are being used.

beaf, i am a proponent of your idea and views on the removal of fuel subsidy,
the fact is that if u are not patriotic then u would not have shown interest in seeking knowledge and research as much as u have done on the issue
the sanusi lamido speech was an eye-opener for me.

for your critics here on Nairaland, they are definitely seeing it from the perspective of "an aggrieved citizen".but I must say: we are all aggrieved even the leaders but intelligence and crucial analysis need to be made, now the UN and EU involved, more opponents to convince, struggle continues in a civilized and legal way, You guys are wonderful and patriotic,
am still writing a comprehensive essay on the issue, I promise to make a copy available here on Nairaland for your appraisal

From a young politician
Thanks bruv. smiley

I believe we just have a bunch of teenagers who are eager for the "revolution" fad, most adults would read the Sanusi Lamido document and be reverted by how much they have been cheated, others would read the SURE programme document. But, hey! Kids will be kids, to them its just a thrill, rioting by iphone and organising on twitter. Let them feel cool for their 24 hours.

I can bet you that in two months time, 99% of these fellows would look back in deep shame and regret at how they foolishly invaded the streets to beat up their own futures and act as ready tools for Nigeria's enemies. Its easy to be foolish.

I imagine that the EU and UN reassurance was a coded way of telling boko haram and GEJ's bitter political enemies what will be pump'n over Nigeria if they attempt any gynmastics with their stup!dity; they will simply be "Libya'd" into the stone age.

Stay well, my brother.

tjadeba:
Many thanks to Nigerians and indeed Nairalanders here who have been on the side of reason with the public opinion over this fuel subsidy removal. I have few questions to ask proponents of this new policy (Karl Max,Starbaby,Beaf etc) and i think if they are sincere to themselves they will see reason as to why the policy is ill-timed,impoverishing,draconian.
my questions goes thus

1. Can Nigerians and should Nigerians trust the ruling class to deliver the goods with excess money saved from the removal? I am saying this because i cannot see What frame works have been put in place to achieve this.Is it the same ruling class that will be saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that these monies are judiciously spent? Or are they bringing in some other honest Nigerians and laying off the present structure(very corrupt)? Are we to trust them that NOW is the time that has been deemed fit to start fixing roads, light, water, healthcare, etc etc. Okay, can the government please come up with how they want to share the monies, the number of projects to be started, the amount of money that it would cost, the time frame from commencement to completion of the projects on a state by state basis. Men, the government cannot just come up with removal without justifying it in the most credible and transparent manner.Previous governments have taken Nigerians for a ride over the years and it is still same structure that produced the incumbent administration which makes it quite hard to believe that they indeed posses the magic wand to fix the nation if given access to more money than they used to have.

2. Is it not draconian if the leadership have not taken steps to plug all the loop holes within their set up, like cutting costs in terms of overheads (fat salaries, emoluments), shedding the gargantuan workforce consisting of Special Assistants,Personal assistants, ministers, commissioners and all what have you.I believe it is draconian if you are cutting benefits due the citizens to fund extravagant lifestyles.

3. Are there other subsidies being enjoyed in Nigeria? If there is what are they or what is it? Or is it out of place to enjoy one form of benefit in the country we all own?The countries we are trying to follow their economic agenda sure have one form of benefit or the other.

4. In view of the above, what hope for the common man? Or is the common man not part of Nigeria again? Why should the poor (constituting more than 50% of the populace) suffer in order for the leadership to have more money at their disposal (if what they told us is anything to go by).
This is what the govt is giving in place of subsidies. Read it, it is excellent develomental stuff; subsidies, opportunities etc. Reverting.
