In the meantime, some are demonstrating to destroy the future. Welldone GEJ, things are moving rapidly! |
Why the lies? The SE/SS are laughing at you. |
So this is the #occupy protest? I pity the way many of us think. What a waste of life! May the dead rest in peace. |

Strike: N-Delta youths warn NLC, mobilise for Jonathan On January 9, 2012 · In News By SIMON EBEGBULEM BENIN CITY—THE Niger Delta Democratic Coalition, NDDC, weekend, warned the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to stay away from the Niger Delta in its planned strike, saying that the group would mobilise over one million youths to resist any attempt to enforce the proposed strike action in the region. Meanwhile, South South leaders met last night at the residence of Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, in Abuja with a view to taking a position on the recent massacre of Southern Christians in the North and also the prevailing crisis over the removal of fuel subsidy. Though details of the meeting is were unknown at press time, but the text message sent to the leaders for the meeting read: “My fellow compatriots, you are urgently invited to attend a meeting today (Sunday) to discuss the state of the nation, particularly the massacre of Southern Christians in the North. It is important you attend”. Vanguard learnt however that the South South leaders are not happy with the way and manner their counterparts in the North are handling the issue of Boko Haram and the recent hike in fuel prices as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. Vanguard was reliably informed that the leaders are worried that the Northern leaders may have perfected plans to frustrate the administration of President Jonathan who is from the South South, therefore wants to strategize to check their activities. However, National Coordinator of the NDDC, Chief Denis Otuaro, who spoke to newsmen in Benin City , urged the leadership of the NLC to toe the path of the law by fighting its course through the law court rather than embarking on industrial action which according to him would further impoverish the masses of the country. While stressing the need for the NLC to accept the removal of the fuel subsidy by the Federal Government, he said that “that N1.4trillion that will be saved through the removal of the subsidy will be enough to construct roads and bridges in the Niger Delta region where the wealth of the nation is. We are aware that the people fighting against the removal of the subsidy are those people who have been benefiting for years from that money and these set of people are not from the Niger Delta yet they are milking the nation dry. “We will appeal to the NLC to obey the Court order which had declared any strike action on Monday as illegal. NLC is also part of the problem of the nation because they should also tell Nigerians what happened to our dead refineries because they are the civil servants incharge. It is an open secret in Nigeria that the civil service is the bedrock of corruption in Nigeria ” he stated. ….As group urges NLC to suspend strike WARRI—A non-governmental organisation, Unveilers of Good Leaders Foundation, UGLF, has called on the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and civil society organisations to suspend the planned nationwide strike against Federal Government’s announcement of oil subsidy removal, saying it will only worsen the poverty and hardship situation already being faced by the Nigerian masses. National President of the group, Evangelist David Ohwobeya, in a statement yesterday in Warri, suggested that the NLC and Nigerians should give the Federal Government at least six months to examine how government intends to utilize the subsidy fund to improve the country’s economy. Ohwobeya pointed out that the NLC and Nigerians should avail the Federal Government the benefit of doubt, noting that government has good intention and was determined to make adequate use of the subsidy fund. He admitted that though the removal of subsidy may have some inflation effect, but further assured that shortly Nigerians shall witness and enjoy the dividends of the subsidy fund. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/01/strike-n-delta-youths-warn-nlc-mobilise-for-jonathan/ |

. . .Is it the freedom of information act that gave the author the intimate details, to the extent that they know that "Mrs. Okonjo Iweala did not explain and no one provided any details?" Wonders! The article is just another helping of shiit, cooked done for the gullible. |
Nchara:Lol! Some think that there should be a permanent underclass in Nigeria. Sad. It is those who have been decieved by the sophistry of the conspirators that I feel for. People have been trying to whip up sentiment over the past few days for bloodshed, now I hope that GEJ takes this seriously enough to kick down doors and arrest people. |
Niger Delta group alleges plan to assassinate Jonathan, Mark, COAS •Warns of disintegration of Nigeria Written by Okey Muogbo, Abuja Monday, 09 January 2012 NIGER Delta leaders on Sunday alleged that some people were planning to assassinate President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate president, David Mark, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Onyeador Ihejirika and warned that the country would face crisis if any harm came to their son. Addressing journalists in Abuja, president of the Ijaw Youth Council, Miabiye Kuromiama also alleged that the planners of the assassination want to hide under the guise of hardship caused by the withdrawal of subsidy on petrol to execute their plot. Kuromiama, who declined to answer questions after the briefing, was accompanied by Alhaji Asari Dokubo of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force and other leaders of the South-South group. Text of the address reads: “Leaders of the Niger Delta involved in the long struggles to re-invent and revive the dire political and socio-economic conditions of this country Nigeria, draw the attention of all Nigerians and the global community to an advanced conspiracy and plot to destabilise and disintegrate the country in the coming days and weeks. “The promoters of this plot seek to achieve their aims by assassinating the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and also eliminate very senior military and security officers from the South and Middle Belt of Nigeria, including and particularly the Chief of Army Staff General Ihejerika; the Senate President David Mark and the National Security Adviser General Owoye Azazi (retd). “Those identified in this sinister plot include retired senior military and security officers who are working quietly with some serving officers, some “powerful” opportunistic businessmen who benefit from existing incentives for corruption and profiteering in the economy, including current subsidy on PMS otherwise called petrol and whose business is threatened by current government policy. “Also in alliance with them are corrupt and disgruntled politicians who are for once currently outside the corridors of Nigeria’s political power reality after over 40 years of monopolising power and manipulating the people. “This plot is now almost perfected by certain disgruntled elements in Nigeria and their co-conspirators. “They are currently unconcerned that the nation is at economic crossroads and are actively playing on the emotions and pains of fellow Nigerians by politicising, sponsoring and organising activities to heat-up the polity through strikes, civil disobedience and legislative activism to prepare the ground for the plans. “Having been aware and studying the development of the situation since the emergence of a Niger Delta son in the leadership of this country, we have resolved to take serious steps to guarantee the security and survival of our people in the Niger Delta. We also advise all Nigerians to be aware of this plot, its deeper motivations, implications and the consequences that will befall all of us. “Accordingly, we strongly and unequivocally warn that a plot against the life of the president and the derailment of this government is likely to spell disaster for this country and bring untold and sustained hardship to the masses far worse than any temporary pains of a deregulated downstream petroleum sector is likely to cause. “We have always been aware, as many other Nigerians and the world over, that the struggle for power and control of government in Nigeria by political forces in the name of ethnic, religious, regional or group-based interest has been to access and control the oil and gas resources from the Niger Delta by this kind of persons. “Nigerians currently have time and space for two peaceful opportunities: re-negotiating a new basis of our continued corporate co-existence as a nation; negotiating a peaceful dissolution of the Nigerian State as was the case with USSR, Ethiopia, and Czechoslovakia. “Or do we allow the country to slide into a bloody disintegration of Africa and the Black race’s largest democracy, as did Sudan and Yugoslavia? As it appears now, the Sudan and Yugoslavia option is now very apparent and fearfully looming as the anarchy and potential loss of innocent lives, including plans to assassinate or overthrow the government of Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan portrays. This is totally unnecessary. “If and when the plan is executed, Niger Delta nation and peoples know exactly what steps to take and will not hesitate to progress with necessary measures towards such steps forthwith.” http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/34004-niger-delta-group-alleges-plan-to-assassinate-jonathan-mark-coas-warns-of-disintegration-of-nigeria |
Strike: Count us out –South-east traders From IJEOMA ONUORAH, Nnewi, GEOFFERY ANYANWU, Awka Monday, January 09, 2012 Chairman of the South-east Governor’s Forum, Mr. Peter Obi and the South-east Amalgamated Traders Association (SEAMATA) have dissociated themselves from today’s nationwide strike, being embarked by organized Labour . The market leaders, who visited Mr. Peter Obi in Awka yesterday, said the entire South-east would not participate in the planned strike, and equally expressed support to President Goodluck Jonathan on the removal of fuel subsidy. Governor Obi said the support for the removal of oil subsidy was predicated on the fact that funds saved from the exercise would be used to improve the economy of the country, especially in the areas of infrastructure, power, education and job creation He urged the Federal Government to ensure that the funds were strictly applied in the specified areas. While commending the Federal Government for efforts made so far, he called for more decisive measures to ensure security of lives and property in various parts of the country, especially the troubled parts. In an eight-point communiqué issued after their meeting at the governor’s lodge and signed by the President, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo and Secretary, Mr. Temple Udeh, the traders said the decision taken by the government was in the overall interest of the country. The traders further stated that the monumental corruption that has characterized the petroleum industry over the years as a result of the distortions created by the subsidy had only enriched individuals. The communiqué read in part: “We note that there will be initial hardship that will be experienced by the people of Nigeria, but we accept that this will be compensated for by the palliative measures planned by the government to cushion the effects. Our support is premised on the promise that the savings from the subsidy will be channelled to massive infrastructural development and job creation. “We therefore urge Mr. President that the promises made to the Nigerian people are kept in addition to reducing the cost of governance, as a demonstration of his commitment to the sacrifices made. Based on the foregoing, SEAMATA and traders of the South-east origin, wish to disassociate ourselves from the planned nationwide strike, as we believed that the strike will not be in the best interest of the common man,” it said. The traders, however, called on the organized labour, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to give government a chance and go into negotiations for lasting solutions, urging them to begin talks with Justice Alfa Belgore-led negotiation team. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2012/jan/09/national-09-01-2012-018.html |
^ Nchara, don't mind that bitter mug. I have never seen such a hate filled and petty individual, who would stretch stories and lies at the drop of a hat. Katsumoto:Katsumoto, all are parasites to a degree, even newborn babies; anybody who cannot stand up and point out the truth about our exploitative system is not just a parasite, but one with rude expletives attached. There is no degree of smooth wording that can paint over the rotten system. Neither can we ever develop with a system that effectively sponsors indolence and pays unproductive states to go right on being unproductive. Can you tell me which state you know that can survive without Abuja's handouts and why? Just look at how much turmoil the relatively mild subsidy removal is causing, talkless of zero oil, then we might see cannibalism intead of protests. You and I know that our system is wretched and titerring toward the precipice, so lets ask for a rearrangement, instead of an aimless protest. I have posted various articles about mere cities that make more money than the entire Nigeria; they do it through proper organisation and system's that are governed by enduring philosophies and ideologies. These are things worth protesting for, not "my pocket and damn the kids" style stuff. Can someone tell me Nigeria's ideology, aside from a monthly stampede to Abuja with our begging bowls. |
^ ndu_chucks is a rep na. ![]() Bruv ndu_chucks, why did you fellows block a motion to bring the cabal to book? Why did you not cut your wages? Sir, I await your kind reply. |
Katsumoto:Dude, the Nigerian consitution was written so that ex-generals can loot and exploit us forever, they never ever reckoned that a well meaning person who they did not choose would ever sit in Aso Rock. God bless Obj. Now, they put all the instruments to control oil revenues in the hands of the President (its not hard to guess why); they never for once suspected that one day, a President would sit in Aso Rock and use those same powers to dismantle the system. GEJ can issue decrees to rewrite all the rules of engagement with our refineries. He has cut out the influence of the cabal, so the Chinese would be perfectly safe with the running of their refineries for profit. The new refineries are also in places where boko haram has zero influence like Lagos, Kogi and Bayelsa; so desperate acts would be tough to pull off. |
OAM4J:Thank you, now you are seeing with me! What transpired with the reps today should be a classsic eye-opener to all observers. Did you see the way they squashed the motion to pursue, investigate and arrest the cabal? That was a measure of the cabals strength given to us toasted and hot on TV. GEJ has taken a very great risk and that is why he will never back down. Its now an all or nothing fight, in fact I believe that is why Nigerian were lulled into thinking nothing was gonna happen, then boom! We indeed have a very serious problem on our hands and the sources of the problems can move mountains in Nigeria. |
manny4life:LOLZZ! I know you are being sarcastic sha. My guy, nobody can try that in 9ja o, lest they become suya'd! The police are in control of armed robbers, they will send a few over to stop oga blowers car. . . You know the drill! The whistle blowers office too will spy on the whistle blowers and report them to the same armed robbers. . . Visits in the dead of night! Damn! |
Katsumoto:Cos they are private refineries, owned by the Chinese, with the FG holding some shares. The Chinese are in it to make profits, not get paid for bogus imports. The government is slowly but surely opting out of running the oil business and its corrupting financial largesse. That is why you people opposing its moves are effectively in a war against yourselves. |
OAM4J:Ok, my bad. OAM4J:Lol! You are the first person I've found who believes they can rid the police off corruption. Most people even go as far as saying they would wipe the lot of them out, because they serve no purpose. Armed robbers visit a neighbour, you go to the police and the next day armed robbers visit you to kill and ra'pe. Where do you start to clear corruption when the "roger" collected at roadblocks is a racket that extends as high up as Abuja? Where do you start without sacking the nest of vipers? The fuel importing mafia is the same, only several times more powerful (as evidenced in the organisation of these "protests" , all pervasive with the police, customs, judiciary, port authorities, shippers, govt officials, NASS members. . . where do you start when you are sorrounded? The only route out was to kill the eco-system that the creatures thrive on, and thats what GEJ has done. That is also why he will NEVER EVER back down, because in a fight to the finish, that means doom. The subsidy and its creatures of the night are gone for good. Lets live with it, we must wrestle to force more concessions, accountabilty and total transparency from govt, anything more is a waste of time. |
odutope:Of the 4, two are dead, the first PH one from old age, and the KD one from crazy levels of sabotage. We basically have only two. |
Finland:I do not recall evading any question about prosecution. That question has been answered over and over, there is a thread on NL where Sanusi Lamido dealt with it extensively. Nobody who is demonstrating should be ignorant about the issues they are demonstrating for, lest they do themselves harm without realisng it. Please search for the article, it is very long, but very educational as well. |
OAM4J:I am sorry, but you neatly dodged my question, which is about the realities on the ground. My instincts are that your position is biased, hence you do not wish to come out with a clear answer. The whole "trust" thing sounds a lot like apartheid, so please leave it aside and provide a concrete reply to my question, so that we can have a totally open discussion. Beaf: |
@Sam_Ikenna Thanks for that sound post. I advise that you save it and then create a thread after the demo's, because then many will be interested in Nigeria's national architecture. Thanks for the kind words. God bless. |
Finland:Demonstrating against the subsidy removal is a waste of time and amounts to fighting yourself and your kids futures. Save your sweat, bro. I support going out tomorrow to rally against corruption, waste in govt, for the PIB, true federalism and other issues that make sense. |
AmeboAjela:I believe Bankole is headed for jail. He has lost every case he brought to stop the trial, his goose is cooked. Nice blog by the way. ![]() You should investigate Bankole. |
Finland:So, after 51 years you suddenly realise that you are suffering from govts inefficiencies? Bravo! Can I ask what changed so much that it brought this sudden realisation? Is it really out of a "born to rule" syndrome or something equally sinister. We see through your type, bro. |
OAM4J:That is a mentally lazy conclusion to reach about what I wrote. I will ask you a simple question; if you are given the option to fight corruption in the Nigeria police force or to make a totally fresh start and build a brand new police force, which would you choose and why? The system we are talking about is very similar to the police force, only much more powerful. Lets start from your reply. |
Until the subsidy is dead and buried, nobody will build refineries in Nigeria, because it does not make economic sense to sell at a loss. Also, until the subsidies are gone, the current refineries will keep getting sabotaged each time they are fixed, so that the "owners of Nigeria" can import fuel. Therefore, the govt is left with a chicken and egg situation of what comes first and they surely cannot waaste money fixing the very same refineries that were fixed last year, only for them to mysteriously go unproductive again. Fighting the subsidy removal is like fighting yourself. The very same people fighting it today will be the ones asking why the Excess Crude Account is depleting and why we are borrowing. The answer is simple, we borrow to buy fuel and our states do not generate any money for the FG, so each year, the FG's disposable funds get leaner. Its simple as ABC, Nigeria is about to crash for good. |
Katsumoto:So, the truth is incendiary? And GEJ supporters have no right to speak truths? Please tell another story, I am arguing my position about matters I already consider incendiary and worth hitting the trenches for. Perhaps, you do not yet understand what the recent events in Delta state portend, the constitution was written to exploit and any exploiter is rightly termed a parasite. Even Hilary Clinton said so, even if in different words. |
Lmao. . .God, I just love it when we pretend we live in a civilised society. Yep, knowing these guidelines will be helpful. . . as helpful as a bullet hole in the head. Can you imagine trying to quote "Chapter VI, section 49 and 50, paragraph 21, Quote 40 of the Constitution" to the average policeman who doesn't know the meaning of the word constitution or that it even exists talk more of the contents? Jeedus freaking Christi. . .the comedy! As a matter of fact, I'll implore the protesters not to even mention the word constitution at all when arrested, You run the risk of getting a thorough beat down. . .in addition to the standard thorough beat down you get immediately they arrest you because Officers Mukaila and Cletus from the Abule Gbogbo Police Division think you just admitted to being a 419er since the only word they are familiar with is the CON in Constitution I say for your own safety, if you are arrested, just keep mum. ![]() On a side note, Rotflmao @ Agender. This people don't know grammer (to be sincere, they hate it), they only understand, suyaing, peppersouping and pulling the trigger. Nuff said. |
I said this elsewhere to the same article: The excerpts below fairly jump at anyone who takes their time to actually read and digest the article: Achebe: Mr. Jonathan’s decision to remove fuel subsidies in the country at this time was ill-advised. Coming at the advent of the New Year, and barely a week after the gruesome Christmas Day attacks on worshippers, the policy has forced many Nigerian citizens to perceive his leadership as one that is both insensitive and possibly contemptuous of the mood of its people. In simple words, Achebe supports the removal, but not its timing. The timing is govts own card to play, cos they know their enemies best and strategise accordingly. Achebe: Mr. Jonathan’s administration has made a persuasive case that a few highly connected Nigerians have corruptly profited from fuel subsidy. The government should swiftly bring to justice those corrupt profiteers as well as the bureaucrats who aid and abet their unconscionable parasitic activities and economic sabotage.Nuff said. ![]() I agree with the above. Now that the battle is open, the people MUST pour into the streets to support a lonely President in his battle against deeply entrenched interests, vultures, hyena's and the filthy creeping creatures of the night that hold a knife to the national jugular. GEJ cannot do it alone. We MUST demand that heads roll and give our solid backing. In turn, the govt must do its utmost to transparently lighten the burden on the masses. |
@OP The US has a properly functioning system backed by philosophies that have stood the test of time since the founding faters. You will find that those things are done by the private sector, states and municipal authorities (LG's). What pressure have you put on your state and LG, abi you tink say na magic? Why are they still begging the FG for money after 51 years of existence? Why is there not a single state that can stand on its own, talkless of being like a US state like Carlifornia with its Silicon valley? In Nigeria, the states and LG's exist only to beg the FG for money. That is what is wrong with the country. We claim to be a federal state, whereas in reality the entire structure is legalised patronage and an official version of the almajiri beggar system. It doesn't end with the politicians alone, just check out the citizens too. All this time, they failled to demonstrate for true federalism and an equitable and just citizen-state contract, they failed to demonstrate against corruption and the embarrassment of their states being little more than begging institutions with a position on the map. However, today they have been moved by the unwillingness to make a sacrifice for the future to carry out massive demonstration; something they forgot to do about the numerous boko haram killings. The Nigerian problem is deep and can only be traced to the advent of military regimes that wiped out all traces of established procedure and orderliness for brute force, aggression and impunity. The Nigerian of today is traumatised and unreasoning, a mere husk that has been reduced to base instincts. It is a shame. |
