I can read your mind. . . And its freaky! ![]() |
9jaganja:MTN and Globalcom, military regime in the same breadth? You must be like 12 or something. Go ask your daddy how old globacom and MTN are. Also ask him why banks that aren't state run in some instances make the greater proportion of the money from govt rather than private business. Ask an older brother or sister about banks and exposure to petroleum funds. |
Ibime:You have a long memory! ![]() But you are mistaken sha. That thread was about CBN actually getting involved in generating power. This is a totally different ball game, and part of a larger govt policy that also involves the petroleum sector. The news of this fund was actually first broken by Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke and Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Wya after President Goodluck Jonathan had also approved a new reduced tariff for LNG customers. |
Jonathan is Nigeria's new man of action. "NEPA don take light!" will soon be a distant memory and as the other half of a double blessing, Nigerians stand to gain from a market that is worth tens of billions. These are the sort of serious steps the country needs to develop. What a guy! ![]() Jonathan 2011 is yours! Carry go! |
Central Bank sets up fund for Nigeria power, air sectors (AFP) – 1 hour ago ABUJA — Nigeria's Central Bank on Tuesday said it has set up a 300 billion naira (1.6 billion euro, 2.0 billion dollar) fund to assist private investments in the power and aviation sectors. "The purpose of the fund is to help sustain private sector investment in the two sectors," the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said in a statement. The amount is part of an initial 500 billion naira Power and Aviation intervention fund announced in April "in a bid to catalyze financing of the real sector of the Nigerian economy," it said. The Central Bank added that the fund supports President Goodluck Jonathan's ongoing initiatives in the two sectors. Earlier this month, Jonathan pledged a 3.5-billion-dollar electricity grid for Nigeria, but gave few details on how the pre-election promise would be paid for. Elections are set for January in Nigeria. Jonathan has made improved access to power a key goal in a country where electricity outages are a daily occurrence despite its huge oil resources. The government also wants to privatise parts of the power generation chain. The country is meanwhile undertaking efforts to improve its aviation sector, which Aviation Minister Fidelia Njeze described on Monday in Abuja as "a catalyst to economic growth." The new fund will be managed by the Bank of Industry, with African Finance Corporation serving as its technical adviser. Companies wishing to participate must be duly registered and involved in electricity power generation, transmission, distribution and associated services, the statement said. Any duly incorporated airline operating in Nigeria is also eligible to apply for seven percent loans from the funds. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jA8iJ6oQJHWgZJ2MFwGkr9vV6mvA |
Gbawe:Are you this much of a joker? You haven't even been able to comment on the thread na_so pointed to you, yet you want a new one? Maybe it would be one where some clown declares that Bode George is now in charge of power. Ode. Go to that thread and argue that the people it refers to are yesterdays saboteurs turned into todays "extortionist 'awon boys'". Its the general public you are talking about here. How you have come to the conclusion that "extortionist 'awon boys'" and "saboteurs" could have wrought the incredible savings families and businesses are making from the current power situation is totally beyond logic. Charlie, if you take to clowning, you will most likely break many court jesting records. Damn! ![]() |

As his campaign unfolds, we should begin to see many more positives. |
Gbawe:Damn! Each time I want to have a good laugh, all I have to do is look at one of Gbawe's ridiculous and voluminous alphabet collections. Damn! It's so easy to boost power supply artificially. . . and nobody has done it all these years!!!! Wow!!! Na wa o! www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 That thread is full of hard facts as told by real families and business people, but e be like say you de like only threads were lies de yanfun yanfun! Those ones are "worth your comment." Hmmmmmmmm. |
Ikengawo:This thread is so funny, I almost chocked! ![]() |
walata44:He is from a region that has very little presence in the army. And it was the army that was used against him, I don't know of any place on Earth where it is easy to overcome an army. Lets be realistic, those that k*** your **s do not wrestle the army into line, lets have realistic arguments. |
did you just pick on my reply simply because that is the only part you don't agree with ? The federal government control the trade and so you can't disregard the fact that a federal account was not in existence simply because you couldnt find such on the net. Emphasis was made on cocoa and groundnut as they were the MAJOR exporting commodities and oil palm may not have been regarded as such.Even in todays world, virtually all agricultural produces are still being exported including other non-oil commodities but the impression the government keep giving us is that we are over-depending on oil simply because oil is being traded as the majority commodity.this is not about tribalism at all
You only know about cocoa and groundnuts because of tribalism. What about rubber and palm oil? Do you even realise that Nigeria owes its existence to palm oil? Go find out about the Royal Niger Company, its place in the British Empire and what it traded. Check articles on Nigeria's history such as this one; 4 references to palm oil and 10 to petroleum and ZERO to cocoa or groundnuts - http://www.historyworld.net/wrldhis/PlainTextHistories.asp?ParagraphID=plt Stop manufacturing history out of tribalism. Your counter arguments to "cocoa derivation formula" hold no water. defeated. |
walata44:His first priority was to stabilise the control after the Yar Adua imbroglio. Or aren't you aware there was an incredibly serious problem that could have led to war? He will definitely go after the crooks in 2011. International agreements have already been made. Wait and see. |
Gbawe:What in Gods name are rattling on about? Have you seen the topic title? Did you read the article? Charlie, e be like say you get comprension problem o! @topic This is the real problem with dishonest papers like the sun that has been publishing false stories about Jonathans campaign .Its IBB's 10 milla gifts.
And you keeping asking me about cocoa derivation fund as if i was existing over 50 years ago.cocoa was a federal government commodity traded and you can't disconnect the money being shared among the federating regions in as much as the money went to the federal government purse. I don't have anything against the niger delta region but i do have a problem with people that capitalize on a flawed system to rip off the common man in the region. The resource control agitation was given a higher tone by the likes of Victor when he was governor using his influence as chairman of the governors' forum to champion the cause until the present 13% was agreed upon.fine nd better,he went through a good process and he achieved something purposeful.why would MEND kidnapped people and release them after collecting ransome, vandalise oil pipeline and steal crude oil only to claim that it was seeking government intervention by doing so and at the end of the day, they all become rich men while the problems they were agitating against keep piling. We must be sincere to ourselves if we want the issue of niger delta to be solved and frank opinions may look tribalistic at times.
I don't want to detract from the expected whopping you are getting, but you really should attempt to answer that question. You also need to consider other questions like, was there an oil palm trade in the ND, and was it more or as important as cocoa? Cos it looks like history is being manufactured in your replies. . . But its the usual tribalist tinted lenses. When oil was discovered more than 50 years ago, were you in existence? If not, why do you think you are competent to discuss it by your own warped excuse? |
Sky Blue:We are communo-capitalo-federalists! lol God alone can give a name to whatever it is Nigeria is practising. In every other federal system on Earth the local govt equivalent is the driver of revenue generation. In Nigeria, they are little better than scroungers, hanging around for money from the state, provided direct from Abuja. The govts devesting off first telecoms, and now power supply is a very welcome direction for the country. It will gradually lead to the "privatisation" of states and local govts, so they too can generate wealth, quality of life and Abuja can free itself from micro-managing to handling strictly national issues such as the military and policy direction. In developed countries, power supply is totally out of the presidents hands; in several cases power is even generated at local govt level. nigeria's case is ridiculous, but thankfully we are slowly waking up. |
Gbawe:I'm sorry, but your post doesn't make any sense to me. How does the work of fiction above relate to any matter in this thread or in the article? I don't get it, are you trying to outdo sunnews in the ability to make up falsehoods? Na wa o! --Shudders-- |
IBB with a 10 million Naira "roger" for press men!!!
|
9jaganja:Learn about your country before spewing hogwash. If you don't know everything in Nigeria is state run from Abuja, then you aren't fit to comment in the politics section. |
adconline:What I can gathre from the above is that we should be getting free or subsidised electricity. That will never work, end off. Nigeria gives more subsidies through our planlessness, eg the population does not pay taxes. What greater subsidy can there be than not paying taxes? This year, for the first time in its history, the NNPC has been audited and reorganised in such a way that it is serving Nigeria, rather than private pockets. We've got to take our steps one at a time. A sovereign wealth fund is being set up so the govt can invest oil money, instead of govt foolishly spending as has been the case up to now. But these changes take time, however, it is sure that they are being delivered. |
The question is, why are these corrupt deadwoods so desperate? |

EzeUche22:My guy, running around calling yourself "we" is a sign of self esteem issues o! Its the same self esteem issues that make you such a brainless tribalist too. Better believe it, noone cares about puny little haters that call themselves "we." Na sign off small d.i.c.k be dat! ![]() |
Jonathan to pick northerner as campaign chief Font size: Yusuf Alli, Abuja 24/08/2010 02:20:00 DESPITE threats from governors, President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to declare his interest in next year’s poll in early September. But no date has been fixed yet by his strategists, who are still consulting those to be appointed as members of the campaign team. As part of preparations for his declaration, there were indications yesterday that the President may have settled for a northerner to serve as Director-General (DG) of his campaign. Investigation by The Nation revealed that after consultations with his strategists, it was agreed that the President should brave the odds and declare his ambition. It was learnt that three candidates have been short-listed for the post of DG of the President’s campaign organisation. The President will choose one of the three. The issue formed a major discussion at the review meeting President’s with his team at the weekend. A source, who spoke in confidence, said: "Wherever the opposition is coming from, the President has made up his mind to declare interest in the 2011 presidential race. "The President has been fair to all stakeholders, including governors, by putting them into confidence on his aspiration and why he needs their support. "At the meeting, the President and his strategists settled for either first or second week in September to declare his intent, depending on the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and guidelines from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). "They have not firmed up the actual date that the President would make his declaration." Responding to a question, the source added that the President’s campaign team is being constituted ahead of the declaration. He said: "Very soon, a Director-General will be appointed out of the three candidates already recommended to the President. "The three candidates are still being screened but one thing I am sure of is that whoever is the eventual Campaign Director-General will be a northerner. "The challenge at hand for the President is how to make an inroad into the North. And events in the last few weeks have shown appreciable progress on the part of the President in terms of reaching out to the North. "The President wants the coordinator of his campaign to come from the North to underscore his determination to unite the country." It could not be immediately ascertained if the choice of a northerner as Campaign DG is being informed by the alleged snatching of Dr. Raymond Dokpesi (who was initially favoured by Jonathan’s camp) by ex-President Ibrahim Babangida’s group. Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are expected to meet today in Abuja as part of the search for a consensus presidential candidate among them for their party’s primaries. http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/10787.html |

Please, can people that post duplicate articles be banned for a long time? These days, the board gets out of hand every blessed morning of the week. I don't want to name names, but one particular poster is guilty of at least 50% of such posts. There have been quite a few occasions where topics several pages are duplicated. |
