Politics › Jonathan Orders Transfer Of Soldiers In Aso Rock by Beaf(op): 2:09am On Apr 05, 2010
Jonathan orders transfer of soldiers in Aso Rock
From AMOS DUNIA, Abuja
Monday, April 05, 2010

As part of efforts aimed at consolidating his hold on power, Acting President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the rotation of soldiers in the presidency within two weeks. Daily Sun authoritatively gathered that as a way of ensuring strict compliance, the National Security Adviser, General Aliyu Gusau, had issued a signal to the Commander, Brigade of Guards through the military high command to effect the rotation of officers and men of the Nigerian Army in the presidency.

The development, according to sources close to the military is already sending fears as well as creating confusion amongst the likely-to be affected officers and men who are obviously not happy over the rotation. Information pieced together by Daily Sun indicated that the acting president was advised by some highly placed security officers to ensure that the officers and men protecting the presidency were taken out in form of rotation to check lapses.

Consequently, acting president Jonathan directed the national security adviser to effect the changes for smoother administration. The soldiers are believed not to be happy with the redeployment that was entitled: rotation, particularly as it affected their children, some of whom were billed to sit for the WAEC/NECO examinations in May/June this year.

It was gathered that the affected soldiers in the rotation exercise would be taken to different military formations in neighbouring states of Kaduna, Niger and Benue. A source close the Ministry of Defence told Daily Sun that matters pertaining to transfer, redeployment and now rotation in the military are usually carried out sparingly to give time for the affected officers and men to make adequate arrangements except during emergency situations.

If they do, they will finish this case with Mrs GoodLuck to show us: NO TO CORRUPTION.

His record isn't as bad as that of IBB and obasanjo. Probably the best military leader Nigeria had. When he was PTF chairman I guess he handled the job neatly. The only problem I know he has is the fact he is a muslim fanatic and part of the old breed politicans. But should this be a reason why anytime his name is mention here, posters will begin to castigate him? Please if theres anything I don't know about this man you guys should educate me please.
To every Southerner, the bolded is not a problem, but their worst nightmare. When Dutch people draw ill advised cartoons or some other anti Islamic event occurs Worlds away, dudes like him are known to go on rampage, looting, razing, ra ping and murdering their "fellow Nigerians". It is a very scary prospect for him to be head of our armed forces.

I really don't understand the respect given to these indices that come out of the West every so often.  All they do is confirm already ingrained prejudices.  They are far too subjective and as Rossike says, not worth the paper they're written on.

From the site: The FSI focuses on the indicators of risk and is based on thousands of articles and reports that are processed by our CAST Software from electronically available sources.  We all know that there are many good things about the country but, for the most part, any international article about Nigeria is going to focus on the negative - give a dog a bad name etc.

Another index we always do badly on is the Transparancy International Corruption Index.  This is based on business people's perception of a country.  If you ask anyone in the West they'll tell you Nigeria is a horrible corrupt place.  I once attended a tourist event in London, one person I spoke to was adamant he'd never have anything to do with that terrible country Nigeria.  Had he ever been there?  No.

Nigeria has it's problems, of course and they are many.  But our image is far far worse than our reality, we (individuals, Government, Nollywood) should focus on getting a balanced picture of Nigeria out to the rest of the world.
Talking about image and corruption, do you have an equivalent picture to this from anywhere in the World?

In truth, he should have won all 3 races, but for bad luck.

Mclaren have always been dodgy with race strategy. It even seems worse after Ron Dennis depature; if not for their strange errors this season, Lewis would be leading the Drivers Championship, not Massa.
Mclaren are bad at race strategy, but they always hook the very best drivers as compensation. Enjoy this (Mika on Schumi);

ROSSIKE:
Actually, Beaf, in the 1950s, nations like Malaysia and Singapore were inundated with foreign direct investment (FDI), and granted western market access, and technology transfer under favourable terms by the USA and her allies in the aftermath of WW2, with the specific aim of forming a capitalist bulwark against encroaching communism in Asia, as seen by Soviet influence on China, North Korea etc.

The only way to curtail this spread of communism was to create prosperous capitalist outposts in the region. This the US and her allies set out to do right after the end of WW2.

That's really the ONLY reason places like Malaysia and South Korea are ''economic tigers'' today. Malaysia was not more developed than Nigeria or Ghana in the 50s when western foreign investment mysteriously began pouring into the country from all parts of the western world. Same as South Korea, Singapore and the others.

Their brother states in the region which lacked strategic importance to the Allies, have generally been left to rot and have been exploited - places like Vietnam, Burma, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Laos.

Without that burst of western policy-driven investment and related measures in the post-war era, Malaysia, Singapore and co would have been no different from Burma or Laos - anonymous regional backwaters struggling to feed their people.

So it is important to study these things in depth so that you don't simply look at them from a national or racial perspective.
If only you would stop talking this crap!
Nigeria is failing, accept it, get up and do your bit; instead of making foolish arguments.

Last time I looked, the US and her allies (which I take to mean, the UK, France and most of Europe) were peopled mostly by White people. So where does that put your stone-headed racist theories? You are really mixed up!

. . .Anyway, this is TOPIO, a robot from your "exploited" Vietnam, the damn thing can even play table tennis! How did they achieve that without this God-like help you attribute to the US and her allies? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPIO

Quite how anyone can believe that 70% of Nigerians live on ''less than a dollar a day'' is something only the feverish imaginations of western racists and their local African bell-carriers can possibly muster.

The poorest people in my village eat meals that are worth at least ten dollars a head. And that's just breakfast!

Dude, I'm not here to cure your inferiority complex. A European calls you a ''failed state'', but does not call his own nation a failed state even when millions are killed. THAT is the question. NOT whether whites killed anyone in Jos. Have you asked yourself why the white man you love so much practices such double standards? Are so daft you cannot see there's a game being played on YOU with words? OK, 300 people are killed in riots. A UK paper says this means Nigeria is about to descend into civil war. You support their conclusion. Does that not make you dumb?

If you know ANYTHING about Nigeria, you will know that 300 dead in a riot will NOT lead to any civil war, or to the state ''failing'', in a thousand years.

It is a WILD and IRREPONSIBLE conclusion to reach based on the events in Jos. This is sheer common sense of course, but whenever any garbage emanates from some WHITE FOOL'S pen, people here, like morons, gobble it up unquestioningly, and  parrot the rubbish as if God Himself spoke.

When you stop them in their tracks, they say you are ''blaming the white man''. No I'm blaming YOU for being dumb, gullible and parrotting garbage.

You will be surprised by the role foreign multinationals play in the despoilation of Africa. With AND without collusion from local officials. You simply cannot pretend they are not part of the equation if you hope to defeat that system.

How can you win a war when you don't even know who your enemies are? Or you limit them to only those who look like you - most of whom are puppets of wider international interests?

You MUST be able to situate the local leadership problems within its international operational context or you will NEVER know what's going on, much less how to tackle it.
