^ It does. We are counting monies that play no part in the Nigerian economy. It might suit some from the outside World, but we are fooling our selves. Its like a man counting his neighbours kids as his own just because they play in his yard. |

^ Na wa! Is the profit from Shell and Chevron in Nigeria? How do you subtract what isn't there in the first place? |
Beaf, ngwanu, i don remove de cheap shot. see my question in bold, make you answer, no dodge am. adconline don give you text book definition, him tell us say: C + I + G + (X – M) Textbook definition of GDP C= Consumption, I= Investment,G=Govt expenditure X= net exports,M=imports. Could you tell us where Nigeria has done well in to respect to all the factors and why it's likely that it will overtake SA in 14 months. abeg na for where inside dat equation wey you go plug profit of shell and chevron?
Bros, with no hindrance to profit repatriation? Dat one pass me, you tell me. |
na why you dey go to dis kind extent to simply tell us say you no like sanusi? must you resort to presenting yourself like primary school boy just to continue ya hatred? adconline don give you text book definition, him tell us say: C + I + G + (X – M) Textbook definition of GDP C= Consumption, I= Investment,G=Govt expenditure X= net exports,M=imports. When you have no argument, you start crying about "Northerners". As if you are not the 1st to mention Northerners here. Abi is Sanusi another spelling for Northerner? You really need to search yourself. Beaf:Don't dodge the issues raised above by crying "hatred of the Northerners". Where is Northerners mentioned above na? ![]() |
we sabi some people here wey dey get their hards on anytime wey dem criticize sanusi. according to dem, any ting wey sanusi talk na bad ting, sanusi get northern agenda, and de man na extremist al qaeda operative. one of those people get beef with all northerners, in particular sanusi, while another one na wannabe king, wey no even qualify for chieftaincy wey i fit carry N100,000 go buy for him village. i don trash at least two of dem, from thread after thread, but dem still never sobber. dan tselewa.
My friend, stop being over sensitive jare, just because I very rightly yabbed Sanusi. Just convince me that Nigeria's GDP is not the "GDP" of Shell, Chevron and the likes, majority of whose money doesn't touch Nigeria (don't forget they are allowed to repatriate like 100% of what they make). The other thing to convince me about is that Nigeria actually has an economy. I say, it has NONE. ![]() |
@paddyboi All you are doing is twisting your tongue with more and more voodoo. Nigeria's "GDP" is really the "GDP" of Shell, Chevron, Texaco etc, the greater proportion of their generateds funds never even touches the shores of Nigeria. But you will still count that as a very solid percentage of our GDP. No? why so u name tiny countries like israel or singapore and expect me to be impressed?i would not live in new zealand if u paid me to do so, (God forbid)They are all developed countries. . . Still not impressed? |

SEFAGO:No be god ehn? Na lottery dem dey take win Nobel prize? You don't even know where the quote came from, but you can draw conclusions. Funny guy. Abeg don't waste my time jare! |
SEFAGO:It doesn't mean much? A Nobel prize winning economist? Words fail me. ODE! |
^ He is entitled to contribute to the thread like everyone else. @Negro I quite enjoyed the story, but will not comment, because I am not 100% sure if you are coming at this from a religious angle (like yesterday). |
mbulela:I have pointed out just a couple of things about GDP so far, but they have been relevant enough to draw a reply from you. Fact is, Sanusi only made that comment for show. GDP can only be an estimation of a nations economic health were goods and services are actually produced. Nigeria produces neither, we import everything; doesn't that alone prove that GDP and Nigeria are a mismatch? . . .Except we are redifining GDP to mean the current price of crude oil or the economic strength of Shell, Chevron etc. As for recession, we have been in it for 49 years. “The main message is to get away from G.D.P. fetishism and to understand the limits to it,” Mr. Stiglitz said in an interview. “There are many aspects of our society that are not covered by G.D.P.”Nobel economist, Joseph E. ^ Yes 100% resource control is the answer. 200 billion is a paltry sum. No time scales are given either, so it could be a paltry 200 billion for the next century. This is deception. ![]() |
^ Tell them! They are using the voodoo IMF used to enslave us as signs of growth. Some here are talking about GDP as holy grail. GDP is a flawed system that stretches belief, eg it counts the money both individuals and govt borrow as growth as long as it is spent (it doen't matter if losses and sorrow were the result) and. . . Abracadabra! Economy has grown! Sanusi is clowning around, saying all kinds of fu.cked up shit; instead of rolling up his sleeves for the job ahead. |
paddyboi: this is simply an innacurate assertion, using so called purchasing power parity, we are still ranked somewhere around 40th in the world, and 2nd in africa, in terms of GDP,That was a typo, so don't capitalise on it, all that was missing was "per capita". I meant Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Per Capita. By GDP, Nigeria's non-existent economy is bigger than that of Israel, Singapore and New Zealand If you want to argue about migration patterns of adult sub-saharan african males (or donkeys, or cattle); I am not your man. |
@Ibime GDP is a tool to measure basic national economic output and it does a spectacularly poor job of it. There are strong criticisms against its worth, hence newer tools like Human development index (HDI) and refinements to GDP (eg PPP) etc have become increasingly important to developing economies. Leave GDP to the World Bank, IMF and other voodoo economics practitioners. |
vescucci:Thank you jare. Some of the things printed here are absolutely shocking, straight out of quackery and conspiracy theory handbooks. Someone was even ridiculous enough to mention "bombing the moon" and AIDs being a "fad". Whereas, we should be thinking about how to protect vast stretches of our coastline and secure water supplies; here we are arguing if accepted scientific fact is a fraud. |
femfem2000:. . .Because they tend to be quacks or crackpot. The purpose of Environmental Perspectives, Inc. (EPI) is to sound a warning of the rise of government control and paganism in America through the environmental movement. EPI provides articles, books, videos, maps and other media to help people understand the consequences to them and our nation if our politics are driven by a belief that big government is the answer to everything and that nature is god and humans are destroying it. http://www.epi-us.com/about/ Thats one of the websites you recommended as Nobel prize winning science. Quackry at its best. |
You guys jumping up about GDP are just joking, ain't you? GDP is meaningless and defeats common sense. Eg does GDP take a countries debt (personal and public) into consideration? No, by some serious voodoo, debt is counted as part of the size of a countries GDP! They try to tell you that your econs teacher and common sense are wrong about profit and loss. Thankfully, that era of voodo economics has passed with Lehman et al, rightly swept away by the Global economic meltdown. Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) is the sensible measure to use. It shows Nigeria sitting in disgrace among the poorest of World economies. PPP follows the laws of profit and loss. PPP explains how much pain an individual in a country would go through to, for instance, buy a loaf of bread. PPP explains why, with our so called "large" economy, our young men are risking life and limb to escape our shores, braving the perils of the Sahara and the threat of execution in Libya. Abeg forget about the size of the Nigerian "economy" and debate if Nigeria even has an economy sef Sanusi is a clown, fooling himself at Nigeria's expense. |
paddyboi:Don't go naked in public na . Don't utter abuse if you don't quite know what you are talking about. There are several indices to measure wealth, but the most realistic is Purchasing Power Per Capita (PPP). From various reputable sources, Nigeria's position is 130th, 139th or 145th. We are among the poorest countries in the World. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita |
The scientific consensus is that Global Warming is a fact. There are a few crackpot scientists eg Robert Balling, John Christy, Richard Lindzen, Patrick Michaels and Fred Singer. As well their sponsors, those whose businesses would be affected eg ExxonMobile (oil company naturally). It is only in Nigeria that we can think climate change is a fraud. We tend to always be a decade or so behind times. Why? In the rest of the World, believing there is no climate change is almost on par with believing the Earth is flat. Glaciers are receding at a pace that is unkown, even the one closest to us (Kilimanjaro). By some scientific projections, at the rate the Arctic ice is melting, it would be totally gone in 70 years. In Siberia, the permafrost is also thawing at an unprecedented rate. I can only laugh in pain when I hear people call Global Warming a hoax. |

Right now your're still honeymooning with smooth talking Fashola. Abi he gave you one of them 50 year old multi billion Naira "Green Goddess" fire engines to sell for pocket money? Nobody has ever seen any one since they were bought. Ol boy confess na ![]() |
morpheus24:We seem to be saying the same thing, but with different intepretations of mutation. There are hardly any (many would argue zero) beneficial mutations. The distribution of fitness effects (DFE) of new mutations is a fundamental entity in genetics that has implications ranging from the genetic basis of complex disease to the stability of the molecular clock. It has been studied by two different approaches: mutation accumulation and mutagenesis experiments, and the analysis of DNA sequence data. The proportion of mutations that are advantageous, effectively neutral and deleterious varies between species, and the DFE differs between coding and non-coding DNA. Despite these differences between species and genomic regions, some general principles have emerged: advantageous mutations are rare, and those that are strongly selected are exponentially distributed; and the DFE of deleterious mutations is complex and multi-modal.http://www.nature.com/nrg/journal/v8/n8/abs/nrg2146.html |
