Do what you can. Don't force yourself. People should have the number of kids they can take care of. Period.
That is ehh??

The so called uncles are the worst.

Few weeks ago while we were in Nigeria, one of my uncles in law casually strolled into my husbands family house to visit my parents in law only for him to meet my husband in the living room.

They briefly exchanged greetings , within a minute he has started asking my hubby for money. My hubby laughed and said no problem go and greet my parents I will see u before u leave.

He refused oo, insisting on getting some green leafs
" dollars" my Hubby was trying to introduce our 2 kids to him , saying baba, I came with my children but this man refused to even take notice of the kids rather followed my husband to our room and I greeted him. Ahhh my wife u are here, gud ask ur husband to give some green leaf. By then my husbands eldest sister came in jokingly saying don't worry he will see u later. But the man refused ooo, by now I was boiling mad, my husband gave him 5k he refused that he wanted green leaf. Dats when my sis in law took the money from my husband and stylishly took the old man out .

It was so embarrassing, he then went to greet my parents in law before coming back to our room to pray for my husband and thank him for the money.

princey's experience is based on two provinces. And by the look of it, I think he/she has only been in Canada for a few years. Just to clear some misconceptions. To begin with I can name 6 cities off my head where the metro population is above 1 million. The weather is not that bad. It's usually warm from April to the end of September. In fact in the last 2 months all we've been getting is 25-30 C degree weather. The winters can be brutal depending which province you live in. In Vancouver for example it barley snows and you can have mild 5-8 degree winters. It can go below 0 a few times. Whereas in Sask it's cold as hell. Last Christmas in Ontario it was like 15 degree. Though it was a fluke. It all depends really.

Families or couples don't usually work in different provinces. Such is not abnormal in Alberta or Sask because that's where the oil sector is located. So the husband may fly out to the oil fields for 2 weeks then return. But someone who lives in Toronto for example wouldn't do such. The cost of living in Canada vs US doesn't tell the whole story. While goods may be cheaper in the US, usually the salaries in those states are lower. Plus in the US they don't have Universal healthcare and they usually pay high premiums for healthcare insurance, or pay out of their pockets. They also don't have a lot of the social benefits we get in Canada. From the outside it may look like the cost of living is cheaper there, but once you do the math it really isn't. Hence why house may be a bit cheaper there. That being said, it's really only the south where things are dirt cheap. In NYC for example, houses are twice the cost than in Canada. Lastly while their's now an influx of Nigerians coming, Nigerians have been here for decades. Though the history of Nigerians here is not as rich as in the UK or US.

Hope this helps.
Yes , nice to get another perspective on things.

Wen we lived in London, I used to travel 55mins on the bus to get to work and my husband would travel 2hrs on train and bus to get to his job.

Then we moved to Manchester and my journey to work became a 10mins drive and hubby's was about 20mins bus drive.

I don't understand this couple working in different province thing. Won't that take up all the family time? As in by the time u get home it's time for the kids to go to bed.

canada is very different from the UK.
What i can think off right now. And based on two provinces i have lived in(alberta and sask).

cons

The banking system is different-the banks here are all about charges, and more charges. Nothing like free banking except you go strictly online i.e no branch banking. Internet and telephone banking still has a long way to go.

Cross province/town trains like the virgin bullet trains are non existent. You either fly(quite pricy as we have only two major domestic airlines) or you drive.

Essential commodities and stuff not as cheap as the UK.
e.g you would pay alot to get clothing with quality as half as good as the ones sold in primark. Things like toothoaste cost like half price in the US. same goes for houses and cars.
The price of some detached houses here would buy a very big house in the US or an house at a posh neighnourhood in the UK.

Postal system: Canada is big, so express post via canada mail could take as long as 5 days and pricey. Then you would appreciate royal mail next day delivery.
Therefore ebay is not popular here. what you have here is kijiji(belongs to ebay) where you have to most times meet the seller in person. Amazon is okay but not as excellent as the UK too.

No off license shops. There are specialty shops, due to strict regulations.

Everything is heavily regulated here, federal government makes rules, provincial government makes rules and unions have their own rules too. i had to change my drivers license within 3 month when i changed province and had to do mot all over again. If i was in an healthcare profession, i would need to write more exams to change my license.

weather is very crazy. Uk weather is a learner when compared with the weather here. Also cold expect -30's in winter and schools hardly close.

Social life not as fantastic as the UK. Pubs close at 12 and transport services too.

Social housing. I havent been on this so i have no idea.

mobile monthly plan is expensive

Customer services not has good as the UK. Canadians still have some american attitude in them..

quality of post secondary education not as good as the UK.

Football is not common. Your kids would have to learn hockey and baseball.

Changing provinces is difficult. So many bottlenecks. Each province is like a different country with different rules, tax, social and health plan policy e.t.c

So many times husband and wife have to work far away from each other. There are many families where wife lives in ontario and husband works in a different province and vice versa.

Time spent in traveling across provinces. It takes over 4 hours to fly say from ontario to alberta and driving takes days.

Towns cities are far from each other.
A lot of towns are sparsely populated that you would sometimes wonder why cant they just merge with bigger towns and become one as this would be cost effective. Nigerian doctors are usually found in small towns and villages. Where i currently work is one of the 5 biggest cities in sask(with a population of just 15,000). Out of the 20 doctors in towns. The nigerian doctors are like 12 or so. There are work colleagues that live one hour drive away in towns of less than 1000 people.lol.

Not many Nigerians in Canada. Nigerians just recently started relicating here except for a few that have been here earlier.

pros.
Pay is much better than the UK, as good as the US. i guess the good pay neutralizes some of the expensive stuffs up there.

credit is cheap. most bank would give you a credit card with a limit of $1000 once you open an account with them without prior credit history. You could also get a mortgage within one year on arrival.

Everything is big. cars, houses, parks e.t.c you name it. lol

people are friendlier. You wont be told to go back to your country. i lost count of how many times i was told to go back to where i came from in the Uk.lol

close to the US. i know guys that cross the border just to shop in the US.

Liberal government in power(equivalent to labour in the UK) but then again, the provincial government could either be conservative.

There is personal space. Lots of it.

Populace is more educated than the UK. canadians like book. there is a pathway from trades to diploma to degree.

People are laid back and this has been brought into the work place as well.

British way of spelling and fewer slangs, but u still have different words like sweater vs jumper, trainers vs runners, chips vs crisp, ketchup vs tomato sauce e.t.c grin

crime rate is low. Some shooting here and there but no knife crimes. Police carry guns and people have guns for hunting wildlife too, yet crime rate is quite low.

Singular accent unlike the uk. where accents change even when you cross from manchester to salford.

Food taste better.

The women are prettier. grin

In my opinion quality of life is better than the UK. The air is cleaner. Lots of fresh water. lots of places to visit for sight seeing most are breath-taking too.
You would first hate it here if you move like most nigerians that moved from the UK due to the fact that the UK is highly developed infrastructure-wise, but once you spend 2 years or more, then you start falling in love with the country.

cant think of anymore now.

Child benefit and health care is at par with the UK.

These are for my experiences in alberta and sask.

To be honest, if i were you..i would just stay in the UK.
America and Canada are not so rosy as people make them look. It takes time to settle in North America. I am talking about 3-5 years. Why do you wanna leave all your achievements in the UK and start all over in North America? To start with, your academic qualifications would mean nothing in both Canada and the US hence you would have to go back to school or pass very difficult licensing exams.
The children adjusting to a new environment is another issue you would have to look at.
i believe the UK would stabilize. Everything woyld mormalize soon.

Note: I schooled in Manchester, and currently live in Canada. I have experienced both worlds.

My hubby has insisted I'll use c-section for our baby so that I can still be tight.
My question is does it really change down there after child birth?
My dear if u live in an advanced country where c-section is easier to perform and u can afford it pls go for cs.

Dats how most celebrities have their kids.

Vagina birth is crazily painful. And as for weather it changes ur Vagina I will say yes.

But dat don't mean u will be loose or not be able feel ur oga, u might even need extra pressure to get in sometimes if u not probably lubricated.
