Ohio is not the backyard to NY. He should go to Washington D.C. or Maryland. There are some Art residency programs he can apply to (but people get them from applying from Nigeria). What are his plans apart from the conference (is he planning on doing a school course or doing a short program at a private workshop/studio) and why didn't he contact his fellow artists here in Nigeria to ask them about what to do (because I know several people who would have recommended him to certain contacts abroad). If he had registered for a good course (depending on if he's an oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel painter etc) and had documentation about it, accomodation would have been easier (whixh he should have some before spending his money). Let him contact his fellow artists here in Nigeria to see if he can get help, because it will really be tough for anyone to open their doors to a stranger. If not, come home.

I've advised him to go back to Nigeria after the conference. So, he would be going back this month.

If he has accommodation until the end of the conference why is he looking for a place to stay? Is your friend not planning to return home? Why would he want to beg people for a place to stay when he could easily head back home after attending the art conference unless he has other plans.

The first conference ends May 20th. He also has another conference starting May 22nd. He was provided accommodation for the 1st conference but couldnt get accommodation for the 2nd.

Tell him to get home after the conference and get proper residency visa if he desires to earn a living in US.

I've called him and told him to go back home to apply for proper residency visa. He doesn't have to wait for the second conference.

He's not jumping anything. He has 2 years business visa and was given 11months to stay at a time. The problem with him is that after the first art conference, he still has a 2nd conference coming up.

The 2nd conference does not have accommodation for him. He has depleted all his funds, hence, needing help

He made an arrangement with his friend in Ohio that after the conference he would be coming over to stay with him. When he got to the US, he called his friend and the friend started ignoring his calls. He finally got through but the friend told him that he has changed his mind that he should look for somewhere else to stay.

Cousin is disappointed, and doesn't have anybody or place to stay after the conference. The conference is in New york. The Art organizers provided him with accommodation until the end date of the conference.

He is a very nice guy. Hardworking, God-fearing ambitious, and handsome

I often come across people who inadvertently call a girl he/him when talking about that person. And also do the same mistake when addressing or talking about a boy.

This thing is depressing and I'm really confused about it. The difference is clear. Why confuse a girl with a boy and vise versa?

NYSC is an acronym and not an abbreviation. We all know what it stands for (meaning). But I like the guy that comes up with own meaning... "Now Your Suffering Continues". Though not the original intention of the acronym.

That was what the @op did. He added meanings to already existing words and called it acronym. Acronyms are individual letters and does not form words.

This is a clear example of what we are saying. ETC (et cetera) which is an abbreviation can also stand alone as an acronym as long as you can come up with words that match the original intention of the word.

The meanings of those words are real, but the words itself aren't acronyms or abbreviation, except OK... which is an abbreviation of Okay.

News paper is news paper. But you can always come up with meanings of those words on your own as long as it correspond with the original intention of the word... i.e to report news.

A word is a complete thought and does not need an acronym e.g paper. Ok is an abbreviation of Okay and does not have an acronym.

OK (okay) means objective killed or achieved. So you see, meanings are different from abbreviation and acronym.

The definition of a particular thing is the meaning of that thing. Etc is an abbreviation for et cetera which in turns means.. meaning and so forth.

Acronyms on the other hand are thoughts not expressed and vague. They are words or name formed as an abbreviation from the initial component in a phrase or word. These are usually individual letters e.g NATO, NEPA, NNPC, NYC et cetera.
