EventsRe: How To Get Food At A Nigerian Wedding by bee444: 7:15am On May 22, 2016
I attended this wedding with a friend. Well, we were invited by the groom. Food wasn't served on our table, and we angrily left. It wasn't a serve yourself party, so we had no option than to leave. Groom was too overwhelmed with the party and had no time for us.

This made me to invent my own style at any party where you get served. It's pretty straight forward.. I always assume the position of either the groom or bride's family any time I go to wedding parties with my friends.

I would normally go straight up to where the ushers are (always well dressed and looking dapper) and 'command' one of them to follow me with food to my table. The way I approach these ushers automatically convinced them that I must be very important to the wedding. They always obey without questioning.

One tried questioning me the other time. I told her to call me her boss. She immediately apologised and comply.
Music/RadioRe: Igbos Evergreen Musicians, Why Don't We Appreciate Them? by bee444: 9:54am On May 21, 2016
The Igbo languague, so freely and beautifully spoken decades back has seen its decline with the new breeds of children being raised these days.

This generation of children would rather you call them Chye instead of Chi. They're westernizing the igbo culture and stylishly dragging the parents into it too. We no longer speak Igbo with our children but in English. The musics and records of these legendary artists have long been stored away and replaced with songs from Phyno, Psquare and the gangs.

Go to the UK,US or any western countries, the Asians still maintain their culture and instill it in their children. They wouldn't speak in English with them at all. English language should be learned when at school and not at home.

Today's musicians breeds violence, encourage fornication and live a life full of lies. These are the ' role model' our children are mimicking.
Christianity EtcTo The Atheist, And Then Everyone Else: One Single Proof Of God's Existence by bee444(op):
More than 2000 years ago, Jesus was on the earth. He re-affirmed God's greatness and made us all to believe that God truly exist. Even those that now call themselves etheist were once believers or have had some sort of relationship with God.

1 John 1:5, was written over 2000 years ago. Time when there were no scientific evidence to prove anything. Time when stones and bamboo sticks were used to kindle fires.

Then came this particular verse; 1 John 1:5 "God is light, in Him there is no darkness at all". We all know this verse very well. But we've never really thought deep what this means. Yes, God is light, and yes, darkness comprehend Him not. But since the world we live in now requires evidence for virtually everything we mutter or believe in, here is the proof of that verse of scripture quoted above..

Check those currencies very well. It's either they are counterfeit ( printed in their house), money ritual thing, drugs, or money from armed robbery. This is Imo for goodness sake. If it' from Malaysia, then 100% its a drug money.

Quote me and you're in for a long day of more revelations and evidence.
CrimeRe: Igbo And Yoruba Traders Clash At Ladipo Market by bee444: 10:29pm On May 18, 2016
Chinom:
You may have a point on the bolded, but have you tried to research why?. There is a real reason for that feeling. It has to do with the very unreliable nature of the average Yoruba man. If you live in Lagos and have to deal with the average and everyday Yoruba in a business relationship, you will go crazy. All the stereotypes of them being lazy, dirty, unreliable, not trustworthy and snitches come to play. The best way to know the true nature of a people is when you deal with the not so educated artisans of each group.
I once gave several Yoruba furniture makers a contract to build some furniture for me. They collected 50% money in advance and never delivered. I got so pissed off that I consciously started looking for an Igbo or Edo furniture man. Finally got an Igbo guy, gave him just 5% advance payment and the work was done and delivered at the agreed time.
Same thing applies to Mechanics, brick layers, carpenters etc. When it comes to these artisans, we have no choice but to use Yoruba people. They are virtually the only tribe you can find in these professions in Lagos. So my friend, Yorubas have contributed a lot to this "dislike" by other tribes. Their mentality will drive a serious minded person nuts. I don't even want to discuss the attitude of the Yoruba woman. There is a reason most other Nigerians in Lagos will rather starve than visit a typical Yoruba restaurant.
In as much as truth is far away from a typical Yoruba man (they lie a lot), you're not too far from the truth about the typical yoruba restaurant either. I however think that rather than attribute only this part of the 'buts' to Yorubas only, we shouldn't forget that no tribe is immune to dirtiness.

Yoruba is a collective noun and used in generalizing a tribe or people. If your friend Tolu is neat and beautiful, and yet you still refer Yoruba as dirty people, ain't you shooting yourself in the leg? There shouldn't be double standard. The word 'SOME' would have been more appropriate when dealing or referring to people with certain trait or attribute.

CrimeRe: Igbo And Yoruba Traders Clash At Ladipo Market by bee444: 11:45am On May 18, 2016
I am going to be straight up here. No bias and no bs. This is something thats been happening for far too long.
The plain truth goes...

Igbos don't like Yorubas. You can argue all you can, the record don't lie. Igbos only tolerate Yorubas, while the Yorubas accept the Igbos as equals and fellow citizen.

And there's this disturbing fact that always come about when misunderstanding between these two arises; the "biafra" issue. They always put in the "we should have our own country" bs.

Again, Igbos are angry people. Always referring to the Yorubas as dirty at the slightest opportunity. I think Buhari should give them Biafra for peace to reign. Igbos fight Hausas, Yorubas and any tribe that is non-Igbo. Very indrustrious peole, but too greedy and unwelcoming.

BusinessRe: Will Nigerian Banks Ever Start Issuing Credit Cards? by bee444: 8:18am On May 13, 2016
Nigerians abroad are finding it difficult to maintain credit cards issued to them by their banks. , Now you want Nigerian banks to issue credit cards abi? Let me tell you, 90% of credit cards owners in Nigeria would disappear within one week of receiving those cards.

Back in abroad for a second. As soon as Nigerians receive their new credit cards, they immediately withdraw all the money and spend it on useless things. Some make good use of the money back home. But all in all, they all end up with bad credits. This makes acquiring credits or living a very comfortable life difficult for them.

This thread was created by the Op to appreciate a Nairalander.
Unfortunately, the same Op cannot focus on the Prize.
Has resorted to name calling and insults.
Then one day, the Op will come around and ask for help again and expect people to help in spite of the attitude displayed here.
@Winneygirl, you dont just understand. And I'll leave it like that. @justwise is the mod on the thread I created in the travel section. Ok lets conclude that any time your thread or topic makes the front page, you cannot modify it again. Does that mean I cannot reply or contribute to the same thread too?

Well, this is exactly whats happening to the thread. I cannot reply or post new comments. I am only left with the "quote" tab. @justwise and I have had issues way back. I only assume it was something he could do since he still has this animousity and anger towards me. I am human bee.

My sis, he only needed a place to stay in order to for him to attend his next seminar and also sort out his work visa. A generous naiaralander has offered him a place when he finish his current seminar.

But you could still email me if you want to assist. I guess he could still use your help..

FamilyA Nairalander Did This! by bee444(op): 8:11pm On May 10, 2016
I opened a thread recently advocating for help for a church member of mine who recently travelled to US but needs a place to stay. I refer to this member as cousin because of how he relates to me.

Great news!. He has been offered a place to stay by a Nairalander at Queens, NY. The Nairalander pleads anonimous. They are also in the process of applying for a O1 visa for him. That will give him the eligibility to work because he already got a job offer from the organizer of he event he attended.

Very grateful to this beautiful gesture @nairalander. You know yourself.

My other thread in the travel section has been disabled by the mod @justwise. The hatred he has shown towards people trying to help others is unspeakable and despicable. Only God will pay him if truly he abhors such resentment towards me.

@wizzy11, JJCE and Lionlee216 pls resend the messages you sent to my email. Thanks

Christianity EtcRe: Can You Be A Christian And Not Go To Church? by bee444: 4:39pm On May 08, 2016
YungMike:
Nice one bro. Buh don't you think becoming a Christian simply means being a part of God's family?
The Christian life was never meant to be lived solo, God has gifted each member of his church to serve one another, you can’t do that solo.
Don't you think God's family are meant to be family who can help you in time of needs? Beothers in Church are the worst when it comes to helping other people. They would rather give tithes and offering to the service of men than helping that brother who haven't eaten for two days.

I believe I am a good Christian. I attend Church once in a while. I dont like the politics in our modern Churches.

A brother recently went to his previous church and ask to be helped. He needed money to add to the one he already had to buy flight ticket to the US. This brother served this Church since he was a baby, and moved to a more youth friendly church recently. The Pastor of the Church refused him the money he asked for saying that since the brother doesnt attend the Church anymore, he wont help. The brother cried uncontrolable in the pastors presence, yet, the pastor remain defiant and refused the brother the money. The Church is a very big Church with branches all over the world.

Now tell me, if outsiders could buy the ticket for this brother, what more is the need of todays Churches?

WWJD in this brother's case? Of course he would give him the money. Eye service is what is left in today's churche, and I am too sane to be deceived.

He doesn't appear to have an exit strategy. He can try online dating to see if he finds someone who will accommodate him.
He's not gon be a permanent tenant. He only needs 5 months to get his sh*t together or move back to Nigeria. He's not staying behind and allowing his stay/visa to run out. He's hoping he will meet someone he will get involved with within 5 months or even get a place to work for that duration before returning home. He needs money to sustain himself back home.

No I'm not. I'm just a church member. BUT he calls me big bro and act as if im his biological brother. Im just so concerned about him, else trying (may too hard) to find help for him.

Truth be told. The brother in question is actually my church member and we are not in any way related. I only call him my cousin because he's closer to me and such a nice man.

Sounds stupid. In fact with what you have just stated, he needed to be sent back to Nigeria. What kind of conference that he attended and after the conference, he now wants an accommodation to stay. It is wrong because you have shown that he has no intention to return.

Listen op, America is not Nigeria and nobody is gonna accommodate him?

Too bad mehn.
Like I said before, I have no say in determining his life for him. I only give him advice. He is a very talented artist with bright future. He doesn't wana become illegal in the states and currently weighing his options. His conference ends this May and he may stay behind for like 5 months or so before his authorization to stay expires.

He is the bread winner in his family and really wana take care of his siblings and ageing mum. Going back to Nigeria now wont be favourable for him. He needs to at least gather some money to live on when he goes back home. He is 30 and doesnt have anything to fall back on in Nigeria. Ticket money was a miracle. He wants to use this opportunity to meet people and get better network
FamilyRe: Is It Good For A Husband And Wife To Have Separate Rooms At Home? by bee444: 11:47pm On May 07, 2016
This create evil entrance into the relationship. The woman/man see this as an avenue to start chatting up that guy/lady they've been eyeing for a while. Her/his phone would replace either party. Then, strange things begins to happen.

It is very dangerous for a healthy relationship, except ofcourse they are in their 60's.

Where in Ohio is he ??

Maybe you don't know Ohio is twice the size of Abuja
The guy is still in Albany, New York. Conference finishes soon. He actually wanted to stay behind to make room for him applying for a residency visa or find a person to settle down with.

People talking about hotels and going back to Nigeria dont understand the story or struggle behind his journey. He went to the conference with only $120 in his pocket. He struggled to come up with ticket money. Friends and foes have to gather and contribute the ticket money.

Going back to Nigeria so soon will be seen as failure for him. He wont have another chance again. He still has valid visa till 2017. Help comes in different form.
