Polls by design tend to favour one side. Some will over represent democrats , others will over represent republican. Let me add. If there is a poll that's very accurate, it's the Europe exit polls after elections. There is a belief I think Europeans have honesty in whom they voted. Long before vote counting exit polls usually confirm the winner to a very high degree of accuracy. American society is split up, I tend to think many of them lie in the exit polls unlike in Europe.

One example, usually groups who do polling averages use "likely voter (LV)" polling models over "registered voter (RV)" polling models if a poll does both. The Likely voter model tends to be more accurate as it polls those who are registered but "more likely to vote". RCP (for clear reasons -keep their conservative sponsors happy) at times uses the RV poll instead of the LV poll if both exist for a poll.
Like the current Marquette poll.

The Registered Voter model has Harris up 52-48. Harris +4
