Benflash what is your problem?

U don't have to vent everything that cross your mind here.
Lol, I guess you operate the two monikers. Please if you want to counter an info, do well to read up about it first.

The ignorance in that response was screaming when OPEC interview was mentioned and the fact that the word "may" was used in my submission to indicate inference.

...and please I have every right to vent at ignorance. You really cant do anything about it, can you?

COVID-19 + OPEC (Saudi) vs Non-OPEC (Russia) rift.

New developments that have jointly created a cause for worry for the EHs in the short term as they may indirectly delay this recruitment further, especially with the resultant fall in crude oil prices.

We can only pray for a favourable outcome.

According some sources, they are trying to round up everything before 4th of May. The HR has a lot of work to do, as the GMD is trying to retire some of the Top Guns in the corporation. One cannot say if the HR can meet up with the deadline. Thanks elzab for the info. You are in the know looop. Peace.
Thanks for the update @Loaded89. God bless. The hint I got from your post is that HR is working tooth and nail to ensure the EHs resume at the same time as the GTs.

Hello All,

I have from a very reliable person that the GMD is the one sitting on the EH List.

This is because it simply doesn’t favour him. All justification has been given. But he insists on No. There needs to be some kind of pressure being mounted because he has no one he’s reporting to and can do as he pleases. So pray things don’t get switched up on you and report him to your God.
Balher please snap the GMD's sitting position and post, we want to check something

Bros.. What we should both conclude is that let the best from each state be selected and not telling us federal character should be abolished.
All I am clamouring for is a level playing field, federal character or not.

Bros... I want to ask you, Why are some scholarship and jobs left for women to promote gender balance? Why don't you tell organizers of such scheme to throw it open to both men and woman and pick you that would score 100/100.
We have both answered this question, diversification is the original idea but corruption is what we are practising.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by BenFlash:
tyakson99:
Again sir, the whole essence of quota system is for diversity and inclusive development. Quota system is abused in Nigeria because of corruption. If the best from a less educationally exposed state is selected, incompetency would be reduce and through interaction with more learned folks, the guys would also pick up the challenge and horn their skills.
However, how to you expect the federal government to improve the education system in the North if it gives all the scholarship to those from the south?
At least we both agree that what we practise here is not quota system but corruption. I deliberately asked you to replace quota system with diversification so that your point will be made clearer to those who still misunderstand you.

Coming to your last paragraph, any responsible government that wants to promote clarity and eschew regional grievances should not give a national test and then drop someone who scored more just because he is from a particular region then replace him with someone who scored lower because he came from a certain region, that is discriminatory.

If you want to practise true federalism, you should from the onset, conduct regional scholarship tests. So that southerners will compete against southerners and vice versa for northerners. At the end of the day, you pick the best from both regions based on merit without anyone feeling cheated. Mission accomplished. How hard can that be? But no, what is usually obtainable here is slot swapping, name changing etc. and them someone comes here to justify corruption as quota system.

Exactly o. I've always wondered where such theories and conclusion come from.
I'm from the North (Taraba), grew up in the North (Kaduna), and studied in the North. I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in the southwest (U.I).
In a class of a little over 70 with around (90-95)% from the southwest, I couldn't find the kind of competition I expected, especially from an institution like UI.

Once the lecturer goes outside the box and past questions, students are crippled beyond expectation. cry
Cramming ability defines excellence many times. Such an excellence I'd say is only comparable to president Buhari's fight against corruption. It's simply fake.

I still wonder where that notion of South > North comes from. In terms of exposure, I agree 100% but in terms of mental capacity? It's a different ball game entirely. Expose us to same environment, circumstances and resources on the average and see what happens over a period of time; I bet it'll be a shocker to many.

In few words, Nigeria is blessed and graced across all regions. We have our differences and that makes us unique and beautiful. The earlier we embrace it, the better for us if we'll ever push the country.
@bolded: for the umpteenth time, the problem of the North are their elites, they are ones pushing the narratives that the south is educationally advantaged over their northern counterpart so as to curry unhealthy favour from FGN leveraging on quota system.

The northern elite will not want the Almajiri to go to school and be exposed, they'd prefer to see them carry their plates and line up in front of their houses for a meal per day and worship them like demi gods. This in turn promotes an unwavering loyalty towards their political cause.

The parents of these kids are too impoverished to influence their fate, the best they can do is to sleep with each other and produce more Almajiris afterall God will handle the rest.

So in essence, my point is that the exposure, environment, circumstances and resources are there in the north to enable them compete favourably with their southern counterpart but the problem is that it is only confined to the four walls of that Alhaji's mansion while those that really need it are queued up outside barely clothed with one big bowl under their armpit.

Charle!!!! So Imo state inaugurated chief imam!! That is shocking to me. I’ve never seen an Igbo Muslim before. Tells you no be everything pesin know. But the inauguration is a huge development.
But come to think of it, the fact that the government inaugurated it doesn’t mean the people accepted it. Government has a way of sidelining the people to do things that will appeal to the outside people.
Your last paragraph is a matter for another day, but the point I am making is that it happened but the divisive minded people wont want to discuss it.

To add to my submission, I can tell you that even Private companies practice quota system. Yes they do. For example, a company that has offices in different part of the country would like to have employees from many part of the country to favor their business. But in doing so, they go for the best available from the recruitment screening.
I think the word you are looking for is diversification and not quota system because the idea of quota system has been abused by our leaders. They seem to understand it differently.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by BenFlash: 12:55pm On Feb 27, 2020
tyakson99:
And even this quota system that some of you are clamoring to be removed, I can tell you it won't favor many state even in the south. By the time 90% of the slots in terms of jobs and scholarship keep going to one or two state in the south west because of their educational advancement and the rest are left with little or nothing, nobody will tell you to demand for merit based quota system.
Truth is if 90% of the slots goes to two states in the South west because of their educational advancement like you purported (which I seriously doubt though), it will prompt other regions to put more efforts and stop hoping on quota system to favour them.

If America did not humiliate Japan in the 50s, do you think they would have pushed themselves to be one of the best in technology today, military and otherwise? Please any society that welcomes healthy competition will certainly excel. That's a fact.

I'm from the north, kaduna in particular...one of the best scientist Nigeria has ever produced Prof Andrew Nok, came from same the place with me.
The bolded sentence applies to every region which beckons the question, why will some states still be classified as educationally disadvantaged when we know they can produce the likes of Prof. Andrew Nok?

Everyone seems to be forced to look away from this daylight lie because it favours a particular set of people.

It's rich seeing how the easterners are complaining about how northerners are trying to dominate everywhere and hence no meritocracy. When they are the ones that started this dominance in the 1st place. The first coup that happened in Nigeria in which Aguiyi Ironsi created an extremely unitary state, he kept Igbos in every position in this country. Removed all other tribes from every position and put Igbos eveeywhere. Go read your history book. No one says anything about it. Some of us painstakenly read history of nigeria even though they are no longer thought in our schools. Igbos started this idea of dominating everywhere with their tribe people in Nigeria right from the 1st republic and It's still in existence till today. If you go to UBA you will think the 2nd floor is a portal to Enugu. Igbo owned private business in other places are dominated by igbo employees. When Stella Oduah was aviation minister. If you are not Igbo you can't join FAAN, It's as simple as that. 90 percent of all employment into aviation in her time were Igbos. So what are we talking about. If an Igbo man becomes president today he will fix Igbos everywhere just like Buhari is doing to northerners, they can't stop themselves even if they try it. So why are they now blaming Buhari like he has done what they wouldn't do. Only tribe that accommodates others in Nigeria are Yorubas. Yorubas are the ones that will start a company and every tribe will be adequately represented in the organization. Infact Yorubas will be the least employed cos his employment will be strictly based on merit. Igbo and hausas/fulanis are the same that's why they can never agree on anything.
Oga all tribes in Nigeria are inherently nepotistic, it is the way the average Nigerian is wired and that includes Yoruba. Let's not even go there. If you mention U.B.A. for Igbos, then one can be tempted to mention the defunct Oceanic Bank for Yorubas or the defunct Platinum Habib Bank for the Hausa/fulanis. Abeg lets not go that route, it is a bottomless pit.

If you look very hard for errors in a simple situation, you are more often than not going to find one. Aguiyi Ironsi did something in the 60s, you held on to it but I am sure you won't talk about the inauguration of the chief Imam of Imo state at the state house that just happened few days ago because it does not suit your divisive narrative.

Federal character is good for a country like Nigeria, and good for a multi-lingua nation. Those who are from the merit regions are to train those who are from educationally-low regions, and employment should involve all, since everyone is expected to pay tax.
The average northerner believes that he/she can stand toe-to-toe, shoulder-to-shoulder with his/her southern counterpart or even better, I for one have come across some exceptionally intelligent blokes.

So where did this idea of educationally low regions come from?

This can only come from the snakes in politics irrespective of the tribe. They work to divide us along tribal lines, they highlight the excesses of the other tribe but intentionally play down on whatever attempt each tribe made at unifying the country. The sad part is that we always take the bait.

Really a sad one. Similar situation almost played out in NLNG around the same period only that northerners were added to some merit list and many wait listed were dropped. I was affected by the NLNG decision but I really see wisdom with federal character especially if we want to remain a peaceful nation. I believe someday when the issues causing the gap is addressed true merit will take its place.

However, for your case the NLNG method should have been adopted rather than deny people who truly merited the scholarship. Good to know you guys turned out well so did I.
To remain a peaceful nation, smh. It is just a matter of time before this fragile peace crumbles if we don't allow for a level playing ground and discard this discriminatory policy.

What you just said is like Chelsea vs Arsenal about to play but because we know Arsenal will make trouble if they do not win, so we all agree to give them an unfair advantage by allowing them field 4 extra players for the sake of Peace. (I doubt if anyone really has a monopoly of violence)

My analogy looks abnormal but it is what is very much obtainable in Nigeria of today right from the unity school level (see link from guardian newspaper below)

https://m.guardian.ng/features/how-discriminatory-admission-criteria-poor-performance-haunt-unity-schools/amp/

God bless Emir Sanusi Lamido for saying it as it is. How I wish someone with such integrity can rule this nation but unfortunately we have built a system that supports only criminals.

I am not a northerner but I feel the decision by Buhari is right. So long as the northerners that were chosen are intelligent minds also. Not only the south have intelligent people they also reside in the north too. Every major group should be represented just for the sake of peace. Here you are wanting all southerners to be chosen for the sake of merit. Now if the president had chosen all northerners in the name of merit, what will be the reaction of every southerner? All southerners will be crying about how Buhari wants to northernize the country. Considering the nature of nigeria, the principle of federal character representation is what is still giving us a semblance of sanity and its currently more important than merit so long as all the candidates are of similar IQ. Jonathan that was trying to push all southerners for such scholarship is the one in the wrong as the principle of federal character is even enshrined in our constitution
Please there is nothing like southern merit or northern merit. Merit is merit. Gosh!

I think they can only pin a date of release, when the list has been approved. The list was compiled same time with that of GTs. After review upon review only GT got approval. With internal realignment and voluntary retirement going on, the vacancies may likely decrease or increase, which will subject the list to another review. When the review is completed, the list will be presented and HR will seek for approval.
EH excercise requires alot of intricacy, it is on multiple levels and positions advertised are close to 30, if not more, unlike GTs.
There is alot of pressure/interest both within and outside. Subsidiaries like NPDC Nd IDSL are claiming to have competent contract staff, the contract staff are clamouring for consideration.
In the coming months, the corporation intends to enhance the package of the contract staff.
@Loaded89, trust you are doing good my brother, any update?

The N7m should be between N400 to N450,000 monthly. I think NNPC will surpass it in the next year or so. Except there is the growth potential and increment in the next year or if it's an oil company. I suggest you take the NNPC offer.
If one divides N7m by 12, that's an estimated 500k monthly after various deductions. We can only do a fair comparison if the NNPC pay is not shrouded in secrecy but I honestly dont think it will beat the N7m.

if one should consider what was written as the basic salary on the APL plus a rumoured upfront + other benefits of N5m, it is still not up to N7m.

I did sir,

The counter offer has been presented, in effect next month should I choose to accept.
Ok, you have both offers. Then let the comparison begin:

1. Well on the surface, it looks like your N7m trumps the NNPC offer at your level but before we conclude, let us look beyond the pay, which takes us to...

2. What are your career prospects relative to both job roles?

3. Compare the learning and development programmes for both organizations.

4. Job security: what is the attrition rate of your current company? In other words, how often do ppl leave or get sacked?

I suggest you take the larger picture into consideration. Best of luck
