Dear Lilangel, in chess sometimes one has to sacrifice the Queen to achieve a checkmate. You have indicated that the odds stack against you age-wise, so my suggestion is this:

1. Stop hitting your panic button

2. Remain in your present place of work, do it diligently, earn your salary then use your earnings to pursue professional certifications in your desired field of Engineering

3. Once you bag your professional certifications, this is where you now have to sacrifice your Queen (viz. your fair monthly salary of 151k) and look for a small but active engineering coy where you can serve as an intern or something similar (most likely with a much meagre pay of course). Sometimes being broke will make you question this decision but the amount of passion you have for the desired field should prevail. Just take it as trading salary for experience.

4. Ensure you look up the job description of vacancies in the field you wish to switch to as it will guide you in choosing a small company that can train you in such roles.

5. Grab every available knowledge as an intern and ensure your CV is robust with job competence, skills and achievements. This can tarry for more than a year.

6. Depending on your ability to learn quickly, I believe you can start applying for roles in that field with bigger and better paying companies after the first year.

Disclaimer: It takes a very passionate and determined person to take this step, if you don't have a thick skin, kindly ignore. However, please bear in mind that what does not give you joy now can never give you joy even if the salary is tripled. You'll just end up being a robot without any meaningful impact no matter how you try to feign commitment.

If a condition is stated at the beginning, and it's abided to at the end of the process it is considered fair. If the process already says we will employ from 36 states plus FCT then merit will be considered at state level. We may not like federal character but if genuinely implemented it can help a nation to bond. I believe most people tout this recruitment as fair maybe because many "sourceless" people got it. Cheers man we will practice the real merit someday.

The Emir said that one day, the constitution on Fed. Character will be scrapped and then it will dawn on the average northerner who is used to making half the effort.

This thing called Educationally less developed states is politically motivated to ensure more fed. revenues and undue privileges goes to the NORTHERN ELITES AND THEIR FAMILIES who mostly school outside the country, the average northerner will continue to be deprived of basic education so as to promote the notion of "Educationally less developed" to the rest of the country and it will encourage one senator to bring his 4 wives to the Senate house and boast of how they have given him 27 children and counting... because in his mind he has where to fix them all forgetting that he may not be a senator forever.

More people should be encouraged to try out entrepreneurship and farming. CBN has been doing some great things with the anchor borrower scheme. These kinds of testimonies you shared are rare and I don't advice anyone to be too focused on it even though they exist.
People should look to build capacity more and apply to different directions. I saw the amount of hope folks had on this NNPC recruitment as a I am a follower of one the active posters on the thread. The next one maybe some years away.

As much your comment makes sense, it is easier said than done. A lot of factors militate against your suggestion too but it is better than doing nothing.

Not heard anything but will not be surprised. NLNG last recruited en masse in 2015.

...and successful Candidates of that exercise resumed 2 years later in 2017. You can imagine the mental and emotional torture

You are welcome. While you are at it, ensure you invest part of the remaining 33k in developing yourself (IT skill is bae it stands, the world is going techy everyday). If possible, do not disclose your true salary to your family otherwise you'll end up being the good (but secretly frustrated) son/daughter. Act wisely

Introduction:

After missing out on the APL, I got a call today for an offer from a company I interviewed with in December.
The company is in Lekki, but I live in Ikorodu. The job comes with a lot of international exposure, although the exposure only takes place on the computer screen. It's a big firm but with only a few people (less than 25). The MD is a popular figure in Nigeria.

The Dilemma:

The pay is about 80k, and I'll spend an average of 40k on water transportation every month, and about 7k on feeding.

Ps: I don't know anyone in Lekki

Introduction

I interviewed with another company last Friday, just before the news of APL broke, the company is located in Ikeja (closer to Ikorodu) and I got the interview through a referral.

The Dilemma:

The take home will be around 110k/month with no international exposure but a defined career path, rapid career growth, and a more robust work environment (I'll be responsible for over 50 workers).

Please I seriously need advice on what to do.

Case 2 does not exist yet, grab the one you have for now until something better comes up. Forget the pay, you are still very young, training and experience matters more now, when you acquire enough skill and experience, then you can pilot your career path and dictate your earnings. Trust me, it is better than sitting at home and waiting for what may not eventually come. Good luck

Maybe it is just my imagination but I am beginning to have that weird feeling that someone from the tower deliberately comes to NL to read comments and then stalls the APL release just to make our informants and their sources look bad.

First of all, I initially ignored. Someone else called him out in both cases and I had to share my opinion when everyone seem to be blinded by their love for him and not seeing the little mistakes he was making.

Well, I would have liked it if you had completed the sentence. Stooped so low to do what? To tell Jarus that he could have done better?

I knew I was going to be against popular opinion since it concerns Jarus but let us face the fact:

1. Recall that localman @Gbriels got infuriated in September last year when @Jarus started giving us all the extra details about the "binding agreement" he had with his source which led to all kinds of PLEA for him to divulge what he knows , when he could have easily saved us the raucous by just saying there was no update in the first place.

2. This time around, he told us how he saw missed calls from his source since the previous day and was yet to call back for whatever reasons thereby generating another wave of PLEA for him to call his source. He could have just called the source and given the update about what has transpired without the in-between info.

In both cases, there was a wave of PLEAs. However, I chose not to consider it a petty behaviour like he ascribed but "slip ups" based on his reputation. I know he likes saying everything as it is (no filter) which I consider to be his weakness. No one is perfect.

As much as he is trying to help us with updates which I truly appreciate by the way, he needs to improve on his information dissemination skill as compared to the likes of Panalyst and co., make it direct to the point. No in-between stories (excess info) to make it intriguing.

Las Las, I respect and like Jarus, this is not to spite him like most of his fans would think hence calling for my head. A little bit of constructive criticism will not kill him.

You may be right, but I can also argue that you being on NL is unnecessary as well when we all know that your APL will not be sent here (assuming you made it.) You could have just waited for notifications without having to read my comment.

We can go on and on about what is and what is not necessary, It is just a matter of perspective. I am sure that by now you will have realised that you have committed the same mistake you accused me of making.
