Mujtahida: Rohr is wicked. That's all I can say. See when he's bringing Onuachu. Osimhen got tired around the 70 minutes but Rohr left him A tired Osimhen is better than Onauchu, Osimhen ran himself to the ground due to Ighalos laziness, that guy is not needed anymore, he is too heavy, can barely move...if coach wan say experience, let him be playing in a top league where he would be sharp. Onauchu is one hell of a slow motion player...he can't really fit the patterns we are playing...you need to hussle has a forward based on the way Rohr plays.. |

Rohr must go!!! He has lost it. Ighalo played nothing for over 70mins b4 taking him out. What kind of coach is that. Ekong needs to sit on the bench, too much blunder.. I usually don't advocate to fire Rohr but this game, he needs to go, we need a better coach.. |

Aina is good at the left or the right side but he isn’t appreciated Enough here Aina is much better obviously but he tends to be very complacent and not very business like sometimes..his concentration is very poor for a defender thou he is still one of the best we have in that position.. |

Don’t know for you Tell them o.o my brother, if you can't excel against CAR running that channel, is it Brazil he would excel against...we need better quality in that left back position. Nigeria would play better with the better pitch. It's not rocket science, all this players play on lush green fields , then you bring them to a disguised potato farm to perform. They would always struggle, I even saw this on our first game against Liberia. We were just lucky to win that game, any of this smaller teams would keep winning us on those kind of pitches. I don't even want to talk about our coach limitation, give us a better pitch first, make we see better game.. |

MetalJigsaw: Central African Republic exposes Gernot Rohr’s favourite players Imo-owo That the Super Eagles put up a show of shame during the World Cup Qualifying match against the Central African Republic last night in Lagos is no longer news. The way forward is all that matters now. To move forward, however, there is a need to review the match and what was responsible for such a capitulation; not the first under coach Gernot Rohr.
It has been discussed on various fora how Rohr’s fixation on certain players has worked for and against the Super Eagles. The downside to this is the continued exclusion of some players who would add some alternative colouring to the team, especially in a situation like the ill-fated match against the Central African Republic. On the not-so-bright side, the opponents were able to expose certain players who have remained integral in the team but who may not totally deserve the untouchable status Rohr has inadvertently bestowed on them.
Jamilu Collins has been the mainstay of the Eagles ever since making his debut after the exit of Elderson Echiejile in 2018, largely, due to the lack of better options. He has shared that left wingback berth with the versatile Ola Aina, though he was often preferred to the Torino man. Over time the likes of Zaidu Sanusi have emerged to greater impact, but Rohr surprisingly persisted with Collins, perhaps due to the quality of opposition.
This has come back to bite the team because it doesn’t take a genius to see that Collins is bang average, and offers the team little or nothing going forward. If he could be so ineffective against the Central African Republic, it is only imaginable what will become of him against higher quality opposition at the World level.

Leon Balogun is a very likeable chap and one of the more experienced members of the Super Eagles. These sentiments aside, Balogun is really not that great a defender. This was exposed during his stint at Premier League side Brighton - as it was during the last qualifying game. This is not intended to pick on his mistake which led to the last goal Nigeria conceded; however, his lack of pace and sturdiness needs to be called out. Gernot Rohr’s obsession with having a mixed-race Nigerian duo as his first choice pairing may not be the best for the team.
Samuel Kalu arrived in the Super Eagles with a lot of promise but sadly has been all shades of inconsistent, and so has failed to stamp his authority on the team. His struggles with ill-health and injuries at the club level have not helped his cause. Yet, Gernot Rohr has persisted with the Bordeaux man even after series of fainting episodes, keeping Henry Onyekuru and Chidera Ejuke on the fringes longer than necessary.

Among the current crop of Rohr’s Eagles, Joe Aribo is the closest to a natural creative midfielder. However, his skill sets have been insufficient in assuaging the glaring lack of creative edge in the midfield. Against CAR, he was subdued in the first half but improved in the second. Ultimately, he failed to provide the cutting-edge when his team needed it the most.
There is no denying that on his day, Joe Aribo can be a game-changer, but such days are few and far between in the Super Eagles as Alex Iwobi has proven to be far more effective. This questions Rohr's continued preference for the Rangers man, and in deed, the aforementioned others. Jamilu Collins have been so obvious that he offers little to nothing going forward, when we play smaller sides, he should be bossing the game like a winger..he is so limited, too be honest I would rather have an out of form sanusi manning that left back. At least you know what you are getting, he is more adventurous, decisive with his crosses and more energetic. Collins looks so limited as a player it begs you to ask is this all we could offer. I would rather have a non-left footed player like Aina play the left side, he is more composed and better even he also has his limitations. |

TheSuperNerd: Omo... Rohr cannot call everybody. I agree his form needs to be rewarded and I have said this before but there is absolutely no way I would fault Rohr for not looking his way. Besides it was just this March Simy resumed his goals rush like he always does when Nigeria has a major tournament or Competitive line of fixtures coming up.
He did it prior to the WC in Russia and gatecrashed the squad. He did it again prior to the Afcon in 2019 while in Serie B... But Rohr didn't fall for it. Lol
Thing is for the latest squad, Rohr had to name three Strikers and he did. And all three strikers (Osimhen, Iheanacho and SADIQ) deserve it as well. Plus their style fits the fast pace of the team's attacking style. Onuachu no even make main list na Simy wan come enter? Lol
Just be glad with the depth we have. And I am sure if Simy was called now and starts against Benin and fumbles, na still Rohr una go come for saying "Okay, why didn't he call a player that he knows will fit the way our attack functions? Why didnt he call this or that?"
Make una dey cool down. This pattern always repeat itself. The best players to fans looking at a list are always those not on the list. Na wa.
On this "we can play to his style"... Just as in the case of Onuachu... I want to add something on this. The national team don't meet for weeks before a game to work on playing to the style of a particular player. In the short time that the team will meet, they will have to work on playing to the style that suits everyone and that will produce the desired result. If a player won't fit into how the team is meant to function to approach a game, then there is already problem.
If we wanna play to Onuachu's strengths which actually require an alteration of our fast attacking style that involves the striker also making channels of attack for the inverted wingers, then we will need more training sessions dedicated to just that. And we would need to play without skillful inverted wingers too. How many wingers do we have of traditional style? How many of them even start for the NT if any?
Any striker coming in will meet Chukwueze and Kalu/Simon as the wingers (not to mention Ejuke, Dennis, Lookman coming in) and have to cope with establishing that on-field synergy and understanding with them to flourish.
This is why folks here make me laugh when they run their mouths because somebody has goals stats. I want them to tell me the league goals stats of Giroud prior to the 2018 WC compared to Lacazette at Arsenal. When they have researched that and found out the obvious. They should please tell me why Giroud (on lesser goals) was picked ahead of a Lacazette who scored more.
In 2017/18 season prior to the WC in Russia, Laca outscored Giroud in the same league (EPL).
In 2016/17 season prior to the season that came before Russia 2018, Laca outscored Giroud also.
So why was Giroud always picked ahead of a player with the better goals stat??
National team football is not just about your club stats in as much as they also should be good. Ultimately it's more about how that national team functions and which players will carry out those functions best.
Let that sink in. It's good to have the club stats in your favor. But what good are your club stats if it cannot be translated to the national team because you struggle in the system of the national team? Question mark for those who don't seem to get (but may want to understand) the dynamics of why stats doesn't say it all. Thank you Nerdy, very little to say after your exhaustive explanation to Rohr's reasoning.... B4 anyone advocate for any striker, tell us which one to drop and how they fit into the team pattern. Ppl talking about not playing to Onauchus strength, not just a change of formation is required, a change of personnel is also required... |

komekn: I disagree.
If Sanusi was so outstanding he would not be playing in the Portuguese league. He has been in the Portuguese league for near 5 seasons. That's enough to generate interest from other top teams and leagues.
It's possible he is still developing and there is more to come. I have watched him a few times he is fast and athletic. But for me he is technically weak, does not have composure on the ball and has a limited passing range for a good technical team like Fulham.
The current left back Antonee Robinson (Jedi) was the subject of £10 million bid by AC Milan when he was at Wigan in League one, but failed the medical.
I don't think he can displace him or even Tete the Dutch international.
Aina is far more technical than him so considering all the different options in Fulham who is he going to displace.
Have you watched how well Fulham play with the ball on the deck❓ I have watched every Fulham game this season, I wouldn't necessarily say Robinson is exceptional at those attributes you listed. I know he is energetic and athletic but you can't say he is exceptional. I believe Sanusi would bench him... Let him start playing national team football b4 we put on the same pedestal with Sanusi.. |

Aina is our best RB no Matter how you try to paint his bad side
The super eagles RB that rohr is playing are not better than him and it’s clear
Jordi Alba ,Alexander Arnold ,Joao cancelo and co all have their weakness I agree with you, he is still our best RB for now...he would have to improve on this especially on the world stage when we go to world cup...See Sanusi for example, we know he is an explosive attacking LB, the former LB Collins was a defensive LB. Aina really needs to decide, I can't really say he is exceptional defensively or offensively in that role..all the players you mentioned above are exceptional at smtin for that role. I was only pointing this weakness as to why some coach would not consistently play him in RB. At Torino, his dominant role was LWB...recently he plays in the 3man defense for Fulham but when they play a smaller teams he plays RB. I am only being honest about our players that doesn't mean I'm not excited by them. |

We Africans should not allow Europeans judge a players ability for us. Mickael2: So while every Nigerian pays taxes, Rohr should come and eat taxpayers money without paying his own tax? The NFF got that spot on. It is shameful that Rohr did not use to pay his taxes, come on, that means he is stealing from the government.
Again, there is no clause there that says he must insert a local player, just that his lists will be checked first and I think that too is spot on. Nobody is forcing any player on him, but when he decides to invite players from the Bulgarian Division 2 or wherever then he will be asked to defend that choice instead of just having a free hand and we all will say 'well, he is the coach'.
I don't know about the next person, but I think this is a standard contract. $55k no be beans, effectively all the low budget countries who would want to hire Rohr definitely cannot afford that. And with that salary, we can actually get someone better. See my brother, every country is different when it comes to taxes. NFF had some kinda loophole to attract him with no taxes. They could have adjusted his contract to include taxation in his overall income if that is what they want to do. I would like to ask you if you would continue to do your job if suddenly you get almost 50% pay cut... I feel that is insulting, you can't suddenly reduce someone's income without justifying it by his low performance. We know rohr doesn't have great performance but he does well and he is what we can afford for now... You are paying for what you are getting, if you think we can get a reasonable coach that would live in naija when most of our players are abroad. We need to be reasonable with ourselves, that team is starting to brim with quality, it's even much harder this days for any local player to replace any of our first 20's..if you think it can be done, we need to start mentioning names that can be replaced. My problem is the in-stability that might start to arise bringing in a new coach. I think the players we have now just need to gel better. You know our history in the Nigerian team, anytime we change coaches, they would claim they are building their own team and that breeds instability gradually. |

Amaju and NFF are about to press a self destruct button!!! at their only reasonable achievement since they took office. I don't know why we are sitting back and letting NFF and stakeholders selfish interest destroy our country. Which average foreign coach would accept this kind of terms with the qualifiers looming.
First of all you rewarded him no pay rise and now made sure his income was taxable which means he would be making a lot less now. Literally he is taking a pay-cut. We are not stupid as Nigerians because they would claim they offered him a new contract and he rejected when all this explodes in their face. This is pretty much a slave-contract!!
Why would they want to offset the dynamics of this team at such a crucial time, literally they would insert a local player clause in any new coach they hire. This is pretty much business as usual for stakeholders to sell players and as they move abroad, another local player is required and the cycle continue.
Why is our country like this, we seem to celebrate mediocrity, we let our selfish desires overcome the greater good. If the super eagles continue doing well, our young players would become hot cake for scouts just like Brazilian players.
I know Rohr has his limit as a coach, too be honest how do we afford a better coach with the kind of terrible climate we have in our football administration. No high quality coach with reputation can operate in Nigeria.
Rohr has brought a good sense of organisation to this team and the team if untampered would be really formidable at the world cup. I think the stakeholders feel we have talents now, and talent alone can get it done with very little influence from the coach, we can just hire any coach.they have a rude awakening lying in their wait.

jimmyiovine: https://www.completesports.com/nff-offers-rohr-new-contract-with-tough-conditions-takes-over-u17-players-economic-rights/
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has offered Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr a brand new contract, but Completesports.com understands that it will come with stringent conditions.
Rohr on his own part is open to listening to offers from other football associations (FA) from January 1, 2020, but the NFF wants to retain the Franco-German until after the World Cup in 2022.
The new contract terms, Complete Sports, gathered will require that the former Bordeaux player and chief coach “must” live in the country (Lagos or Abuja).
He will also be allowed to travel on vacation only 3 times in a year. Also, the coach will not get an improved pay from his $55,000 per month deal. The NFF will also ensure, unlike in the past three years where he earned wages tax free, that his income will be levied.
All his selections must be approved by the NFF Technical Committee.
Meanwhile, the NFF has also decided that all Nigerian U-17 footballers will surrender economic right to the NFF.
Any player linked to agents will have to choose whether to play for Nigeria or go with their agents. NFF will also sign with players’ parents.
With all these conditions, it is not yet certain if Rohr will accept the new parameters of his contract but in the past, he expressed his desire to continue on the job. Amaju and NFF are about to press a self destruct button!!! at their only reasonable achievement since they took office. For some reason, he has lost that fire in his belly. It could be as a result of money and comfort.
Chukwueze needs to keep his hunger and he will get to the very top. Happy New Year bro!!! The boy don dey chop 70k/week no need to work hard anymore..in all honesty, I think leicester system doesn't suit him at all..whoever advised him to go to Leicester was only looking at the money.. Before he went to Leicester I already had a feeling he will struggle because of their style of play.. I just hope those kind of devil agent don't advise chukwueze..villareal play pattern suits him..if he is gonna move let him find a team that would enhance is play.. |

Mickael2: Meanwhile where is the guy that said that Man City will have issues against Everton? the EPL is worse than LA Liga, the only teams City can lose to are Liverpool and then one odd game against Chelsea. In LA Liga Barca or Madrid can lose to Atletico, Sevilla. Valencia, Villarreal or even Eibar and Girona. But then again make we dey watch Bros how far, how market? I thought you said man city can only loose to Liverpool? Or occasionally Chelsea..i would see how you wanna defend this.. How come kick and follow leicester dey bash man City.. |

Ighalo just knows how to shut his critics..good game on both legs for Ighalo...we need him to do what strikers do and we won't criticise him..
And can someone please tell white Onigbinde to make earlier subs, it was obvious some of our players were getting tired as the libyans were chasing the game..instead of adding more energy, our oga waited till they equalized..
Too be honest, I doubt Rohr can really harvest and optimize all the talents we have at our disposal..he is just too rigid!!! |

safarigirl: we are not looking for a saviour, we are looking for a chabge
If Atiku turns out to be as useless as Buhari, we will kick him out in four years. There is no reason why we should reward gross incompetence with a second term
Before Buhari came to power, he was Head of State and Nigerians were not doing well, even at that time. His antecedents and his anti-democratic nature were swept under the carpet and he was voted in. He has proven that the Buhari of yesterday is the same today and forever
Whatever Atiku did, he was not the President, he was the Vice President. He has reinvested in Nigeria, all his businesses are here, all his running mate's businesses are also here. Buhari has not one business home or abroad to speak of.
We don't need a saviour, we need someone to put the right policies in place to help small and medium sized businesses grow and an Atiku/Obi ticket is one that promises a good economic blueprint at least. These are two proven, astute businessmen, with Obi being a renowned prude, I can bet you, we will at least see positive changes in our economy.
Let us give Atiku a try, corruption or not. There is no politician in this country that is not corrupt, so let us see what new faces can do. If they misbehave, we kick them out. Do not allow the fear of failure stop you from taking risks, because you may eventually miss your success.
There is not a single good thing about Trump. He is a tax evader and a morally corrupt person, but he is a businessman and because of him today, the amount of unemployed people in the US have dropped admirably. You don't have to like a man or his politics, you only have to focus on what he can bring to the table that is currently not available It's not because of Trump the unemployment rate dropped, it's the continual effect of Obama's policy that trickled down into his administration now with all this trade wars, a lot of companies are planning to start laying people off especially companies that use steel. Price of goods are about to start rising. The only thing we have enjoyed so far from oga Trump is slightly lesser taxation rate but I hope he doesn't destroy the economy the Obama administration struggled so hard to fix when they came in. |

Icon4s: OK o.
Onigbinde don suffer. Chief I think he might be gradually earning that name. He seems too rigid and can't make changes to solve a problem. The world cup was the most painful part, we all knew 3-5-2 was the only way that team was effective in the friendlies, even a baby would tell you the team plays better with that formation only for him to use a 4-3-3 and we soaked a barage of pressure and finally conceded. Now to current matter, Aina that is playing in the Italian league is a more improved player and plays in both RWB and LWB for his club. We are playing Libya where they would defend for their lives which means some of our overlapping Fulbacks might make the difference against a team that wants to keep a defensive shape. I was watched Shehu very critically in the GWG, yes he is solid defensively but offensively, he just lacks ideas in terms of delivery.. |
