tbaba1234:I don't understand why other nations don't respect our league players, there would rather want them to come for trial..its a huge disrespect to the league and its players..it shows we really need to improve on the homefront.. |
tbaba1234:Wasn't this the same guy that was playing for super eagles under Oliseh going for trials!!! This is a joke.. |
BascoVanVeli:I'm not comparing KDB and osas Okoro, they are not in the same class at all!! I was only trying to give you an example of how european play more with their brains than body.. A lot of this refinement is what is helping super eagles since most of our players are learning these methods abroad, there is A lot of education during the formative years of a footballer btw (9-25yrs). I wish our local league coaches apply some of this training to our local league players, then the gap of knowledge between foreign and local based player would reduce thereby creating somewhat of a level playing field( thou the exposure at a higher level is still needed).. Have you ever thought of the difference between Iwobi and Moses simon..the way iwobi plays the game is more of using his head, Simon expresses himself with his pace!! But the level of football education iwobi has received shows in both their plays!! (The reason for comparison is they are both in competition for the same spot in super eagles if we use our 4-2-3-1 formation) Classic example is the goal iwobi scored against Argentina to equalize at 2-2, even our Ighalo would not have known how to position to receive the ball from nacho, all iwobi did was a fake and that created room for the pass so he could slot in, it looks easy to you but it takes smart players to execute those kind of plays. Note: I watch American football a lot and everything they do on the field are well constructed play. All I want is our home base players to have this kind of knowledge, it would really take them to the next level. |
bengine:This is one of the reasons African players struggle a lot when they go to Europe..the game is more than running around, just look at the way Xavi analysed the game in the post made by someone on this thread, it just made me appreciate their contribution more to this beutiful game.. |
BascoVanVeli:Please check the assist he made again with the cross!!did you notice something about his movement as a RB, couldn't read the play. The winger had the ball and it was kinda 2 beat 1 and yet the winger still had to pass the ball backwards to Osas b4 speeding past one player and making the cross.. My broda local based players are good but they lack awareness or the brains to know how to solve anything on the field.. A lot of this plays are well constructed by European players..they think 2 steps ahead b4 passing the ball knowing where the ball would finally go to.. A classic example was Iheanacho at man city, debruyne had the ball and nacho was coming to him instead of attacking the danger area..debruyne had to tell him to run there and instead squared the ball to raheem who squared it to nacho to finally score..you can see debruyne was already 3 plays ahead and nacho had no clue where to attack!! That's the classic case of our home base players who are not taught well or can't even read a game play well.. |
[quote author=tbaba1234 post=64434629]Even with Alexis and Ozil, he was getting time. Mkhi replaces Sanchez.. Wenger appears to have a lot of faith in him.[/quot For those ppl who doesn't understand what iwobi does for arsenal or why Wenger has a lot of faith in him!!! Passing accuracy in final third Mins per chance created Mins per assist Olivier Giroud 61.76% 51.4 0 assists Alex Iwobi 81.23% 44.3 465 Alexandre Lacazette 67.88% 74.2 568.6 Mesut Ozil 82.61% 23.9 255.6 Alexis Sanchez 66.1% 29.5 502.3 Danny Welbeck 77.24% 78.2 704 So there you have it. I referenced it from BBC sports..you can see Iwobi creates a chance every 44.3minutes!!! His team mates don't just convert every time!! The only person that rivals him is Ozil with 23.9mins..now you know Wenger likes him and keeps playing him.. Even with Aubu and Miki in the team, Iwobi would still get game time.. |
tbaba1234:That guy is not world cup quality!!! I'm not impressed by his game..who knows he could prove me wrong!! |
EEGA:I think it was mikel or iwobi |
sontoly:We have a world cup in 6months bro..he needs to play actively!!! If there was no WC, I would have suggested he stay there.. You need to remember, no matter how much you learn, you need exam or a test to see how far you have learned...exams are like game time..the more game the better he gets at correcting some of his weakness, that doesn't mean he doesn't work on those weakness on the training ground. He needs game to give him confidence that he is perfecting some of his perceived weakness.. |
darkelf:I would suggest going to Belgium or Netherlands top division on loan..he just need to be scoring lots of goals before the world cup to get his confidence back... KC is very talented, when you have a tournament coming up, all he needs his is confidence, having that can-do spirit!!! It would go a long way to help naija at the world cup.. A talented player having high confidence can do A lot of unimaginable things on the field..that's all he needs now..after the world cup he can go back to slug it out at his club in England..we really need him active before the world cup.. |
junnyjake:Iwobi is a big game player!!! I wish he could dominate when playing lesser games!! He tends to step up whenever he plays a big team.. |
tbaba1234 poyst=63436767:My broda, He didn't play that bad but the coach body language on how man City scored the first goal wasn't good since he lost the ball in the midfield...I doubt he would really play KC again!!! KC need to make a loan move to play consistently during the transfer window to gain his confidence back b4 the world cup.. His confidence is starting to take a hit!!! His first touch has always been his biggest undoing, wonder why he hasn't improve on it in the last 1year..he really needs special drills and game time to improve that aspect of his game..he doesn't have the strength to hold the ball against strong defenders, the only thing he can do is work on his first touch and movement making it impossible for a defender to constantly get the ball off you when he is backing the post.. |
forgiveness:Bros stop making excuses for Akpeyi, there is a reason you set up a wall..except you don't trust that wall.. He was anticipating the ball to the right instead of just trusting his wall.. People making excuses for him don't realize that single fatal mistake he made if made in a world cup game is the difference between winning and losing...that guy is just too error bound, doesn't inspire any confidence whenever you watch him.. |
Goke7:That formation is heavily dependent on very mobile lwb and rwb..can you tell me echiejiele is mobile, quick and can create an outlet for the team on the wing? Abeg plz Alderson would have fumbled terribly if he played as a lwb.. |
I don't really comment but I just had to step in, most of this guys you are clamouring for haven't played at a higher level!!! You would be surprised at how they could just get lost playing at a higher level!! It reminds me of Ejike Uzoenyi that played so well at CHAN, Keshi took him to world cup and he was just swallowed by the stage and level of the competition. Keshi brought him in against France or so, the dude was just ballooning the ball everywhere with no sense of when to shoot or when to make a pass..too be honest most of our African players are not intelligent, can't read and construct plays in their head, most of what this players have is physicality or speed! Which amounts to nothing with very tactical teams hence my conservative approach to home base players. Our players that go to Europe when young start learning some of this basic tactics that a 13yr old European already knows.. So because a player played against sierra leone, you are already advocating for him to replace Ekong, that's the biggest insult to a player of Ekongs calibre..even Ekong hasn't played at the highest level but he is one of the best we have for now! One thing is talent doesn't do it alone, confidence goes along way in establishing a player at the highest level. I hope one day, our young African players can see the game as a puzzle and continue looking for solution on the field instead of relying heavily on speed and physicallity which should just be an added asset to them. OMANBALA1: |
My broda if this is the home base players you always fighting for, let them proof themselves so we know at least they are capable!! If They wanna play for super eagle, no excuses in regards to sierra Leone.. BascoVanVeli: |
goldfish80:Bros I respect your opinion!! There is more to a RB position than having skills and power!!, you need to know how to read the game well defensively!!Even Shehu we are just managing him there. He is a lil poor at reading offside traps set by defenders..can u guarantee this Okoro guy can measure up to standard in such a game.. |
I hope you guys know Iheanacho played for 17mins today and gave an assist to Vardy!!! He was taken off, hopefully he didn't get injured!! |
@tbaba: I actually watched the roma vs psg game live at the stadium. Sadiq umar was almost unplayeable!! Very skillful, deceptively quick.. He only needs to work on his finishing..That guy would be a monster if he develops well..for a guy of that height, he likes the ball to his legs!! Doesn't really like using his head but I think his height is a big advantage for him. If the guy gets more game at Roma this season, there is no stopping him from the super eagles..in fact it would be a tough competition between him and Osimhen( they are our future!!)..Iheanacho can always play behind them. |
I hail you guys in the forum. It has been a forum packed with very knowledgeable analyst. I have always been in the background on every debate on this forum. |
