PoliticsRe: Stop Using French Flag As Profile Picture, It's An Act Of Slavery - Reno Omokri by benjaminiyke(m): 7:03pm On Nov 16, 2015
Abeg make we hear word....Stop castigating your fellow countrymen for showing solidarity and empathy to the good people of
France. The Boko Haram crisis that you talked
about has persisted for about six years. It's not
that we don't empathize with our compatriots
indiscriminately slaughtered on daily basis by
these dangerous murderers; it's just that it has
lost its shock value due to its daily occurrence.
Human beings tend to become blase with
tragedies when they become commonplace.
The same reason why acts of atrocities in places
like Iraq, Syria, Somalia, among others don't
resonate with the rest of the world.
In this regard therefore, the heinous acts of
terror carried out by those terrorists on
innocent people in France happened in a part
of the world where order and security of lives
are the norms and not inured to violence.
Hence, it's sure to draw worldwide
condemnation and empathy. Hence, we need
to do away with your insular parochial attitudes
and live like a citizen of the world. As an avid reader and follower of world news,I. put it to you that world powers spearheaded by UNITED NATIONS has been condemning the deadly Bokoharam attacks..... In December 1992, in one of his last acts as President, George Bush proposed to the U.N. that United States combat troops will lead an intervention force in
Somalia. The U.N. accepted this offer and
25,000 U.S. troops were deployed to Somalia.
President Bush stated that this would be an
“open-ended commitment.” The objective of
"Operation Restore Hope" was to rapidly
secure the trade routes in Somalia so that food
could get to the people and also decapitate the
somalian forces. Currently, France has over
3,000 troops spread across five countries in
Africa — Mali, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Niger
and Chad — as part of Operation Burkhane.
Based in Chad, the operation aims at disrupting
potential militants threat across the Sahel
region of the continent. As for Nigeria,
American officials were wary of the Nigerian
military, citing corruption and sweeping human
rights abuses by its soldiers. American officials
were hesitant to share intelligence with the
Nigerian military because they contend it has
been infiltrated by Boko Haram, an accusation
that has prompted indignation from Nigeria. In
conclusion,These barbaric acts perpetuated in
Nigeria and other african countries has always
been Condemned worldwide,even celebrities
such as Lil wayne,Usher, chris brown, messi and
ronaldo to name a few held posters
showing"Bring back our girls". If you are
realistic you will know that france is a
developed nation and has always been a
peaceful country and hence such atrocities
when committed it's sure to draw worldwide
condemnation and more publicity. Thanks

»»». Go Early:
Please, no matter how close the camp might
be to your street, enable to go early. If you
are posted to a far state, go the day before
the camp opens. They will allow you in.
Going late will make you go through
registration stress. Be warned!

»»». Screening:
The screening starts at the gate, where your
loads are open and thoroughly search. They
don’t want you to bring in prohibited items
like iron, knives, bombs, electrical appliances, etc.

»»». Registration:
The first registration will certainly be for
hostel/Bedspace, where you'll be given tags
to identify with. Then the paper registrations
proper follows. Try as much as possible to
make everything available. Look out for
information pasted on walls. Follow
instructions strictly.

»»». Your Kits:
During the registration, you will get all your
kits 5/5 official kit(shirts, shorts and shoes). Use the
marker to write your Code Number (CN) on
them ‘sharp-sharp ” You will also be given a
tag that will show your CN. That will be your
ID Card temporarily. You take it everywhere
in camp. You will be given a meal ticket.
Misplace it and forget about NYSC food.

»»». Duration:
You will be in the camp for 20 full days. The
21st day is the day you will be leaving the
camp.

»»». No Room For Casual Wears:
Immediately you have your kits, only your T-
shirt and shorts with the tennis shoe are
allowed on you. No room for casual wears.
Parade/marching training starts
immediately. The soldiers will not give you
breathing space at all. You will have the
first one that same Day One.
Watch Out! people could be fainting on the
Parade Ground. You won’t faint, calm
down… So eat well. It’s the stress that
causes their fainting.

»»». Morning Regimented Programme:
A small trumpet wakes you at 4am
Everybody gathers at the Parade Ground
(PG) at 4:30am. You have your praise,
worship and prayer the Christian and Muslim
ways. After the morning admonitions and drills, by
7am, breakfast follows! After eating, you will
be called out again for the series of
programmes lined up for you. Then you have
your lunch. Rest a little and you are out
again for evening parade. Then later your
dinner. This will repeat itself everyday
perhaps except on Sunday.
»»». Hate The Food And Feed Yourselves At
Your Costs: You may not like the food. You
can always go to the Mammy Market (MM)
i.e the Camp Market to fill your ‘tank’ with
delicacies at your cost.

»»». Stealing:
Stealing is prevalently prevailing at the
Camp. This is ‘legalised’. They can steal
anything. Be wise.

»»». Soldiers:
Please i beckon on you all to respect and
obey them. Although they are not permitted
to beat you, however, they can punish you.
No walking, its all jogging when they call
you. Don’t prostrate or kneel down greeting
a soldier. Do it the soldier way. They could
be friendly anyway.

»»». Allawe:
Your first allowance (#19, 800) will be given
to you in the camp, and it will be in cash. All
other ones will be through the bank. You
will also get Bicycle Allowance.

»»». Photography:
Photographers are going to be everywhere
ready to snap you, please be prudent in
spending.

»»». By Now You're Done With Camp &Going
to Your Place Of Primary Assignment (PPA):
You will be posted from the camp to where
you will work. The place you work in is
called your Place of Primary Assignment
(PPA). Hear this: most Corps members, I
mean about 90% of the Corpers will be
posted to schools (especially primary and
secondary schools). Only VERY FEW will be
posted to the universities, polytechnics and
Colleges. It will great if you have a request letter from any firm you prefer to work at.
Please! Don’t lobby for your posting. Don’t
pay anybody for assistance. Pray rather than
pay. Gone are the days when Corps
Members are posted to Banks and Co.
Receive the shocking or expected postings
as you receive your letters with joy. It’s a
clarion call to service; that’s what dey call
it.

»»». Transportation Out Of Camp:
When you get your Posting Letter, the first
place to go to is your PPA. If you are
identified with the Fellowship in camp, you
may first report at the temporary lodge they
will provide. Then you could report at your
PPA later same day or the following day.
Please, when you leave the camp, home-
sweet-home will be on your mind, having
been used up in the camp. But please, don’t
go home straight. Please! Very few of your
employers (i.e. PPAs) will send down
vehicles to convey you from the camp to
their workplaces. Private and some Govt
higher education institutions do. The
Fellowship too make arrangement for you at
your cost. Commercial transporters will
likely be
available at the gate too. Be wise.

»»». Accommodation At PPA:
You don’t know anybody in Benue or Kogi!
Where will you sleep on the first day (Kogi and Benue people are nice anyway)? The
Fellowship may give you a temporary
accommodation pending the time you will
have to get yours. You could be lucky if
your employer gives you a room. Many of
them don’t give Corpers accommodation
anyway. So be prepared to rent one at your
cost. Your
first ‘allowee’ which you received in the
camp is already going down!

»»». Clearance:
This is why you don’t have to go home
straight. Your registration (clearance) at the
NYSC Office in the Local Govt you will be
posted to is important. Failure to complete it
before going home is the beginning of your
problem. He may begin to have problems
with his subsequent monthly allowances. Do
all registrations first. Then you can take
permission to go home. Long process! You
will know why it’s so. Well, I hope these few
tips will go a long way to help you.
In order to ensure a seamless registration
process, printing of call-up letters and so
on,
prospective corps members are urged to frequently visit NYSC website http://www.nysc.gov.ng

And follow Eko Corpers Diary page on Facebook to get more information. Goodluck everyone!
Wow! Highly detailed explanation. I could visualize this flawless article you posted while I was going through it.Very very insightful. Thanks a lot.

no wonder Nigeria is bad today. The Op is saying A some people are saying B. The truth is plain and simple, you can't live in abraka (outside d campuses) and be happy or proud. The town is old and far from development. I still wonder why the students are yet to protest and even send messages to TV Stations outside d state because even the state TV station is under d governors pocket. My advice is for the students to send words out to Channels TV at least. Let people know what's really going on.
Am a graduate of Delsu. The students feels no need to protest. Why? They are there to achieve a goal and within a few years they are out. The abraka people should be the one protesting for any change in the status quo of the town. Quote me anywhere DELSU has one of the cheapest school fees for a state university. Am from delta state and my school fees was as low as #21,100 for a year. Any protest by the students with regards to the state of Abraka town is inconsequential.

Stop posting pictures of DELSU Alkarulezz. DELSU is not ABRAKA! Abraka is a town, DELSU is a SCHOOL! Get it?

How long do you think I have stayed in Abraka? Answer: more than 20 years!!!! You know nothing of Abraka! Have you been to Urhuagbesa, Umeghe or Otorho? Or you think Abraka is only Campus 1, 2 and 3?

Or is it that you dont want development to come to Abraka at all? Mr. Alkarulezz.
Answer these simple questions.

1. Are the roads in Abraka more than 6?
2. Are the roads in Abraka not bad?
3. Is electric supply "normal" in Abraka?
4. Do the street lights in Abraka function as expected?
5. Do robberies occur in Abraka?
6. How many government infrastructures are in Abraka?
7. Is Abraka marginalised or not?

Oh please. I have more attachment to Abraka than you do but truth must be said however RAW! undecided
@OP. Pictures of the above hostels was taken few years back. Those hostels has been renovated and they look presentable with necessary basic amenities to suffice . Campus 3 which is the main campus currently has about a few 1000 to 1500seater lecture buildings named new hall. The town might be undeveloped but the school itself is better developed now. Your assertions are valid!
Why blame the coach alone. What's wrong with the player letting his retirement decison known to the coach before going public. Alex ferguson once said" The moment you give the players too much power you loose the dressing room." It shows the mentality of our players."Very weak" lionel messi and ronaldo( the two best players in the world) are faced with the enormous pressure in today football but they absorb everything thrown at them and keep playing.

NYSCRe: Going Back To My Parent's After POP by benjaminiyke(m): 1:00pm On Oct 15, 2015
Umunede:
Exactly what happened to me some years ago when I was going for NYSC in Osun state. I am very happy today that I made that decision not to go back to my Parent. That is what changed my life. That singular decision is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Below are things I did
Burn the bridge. When I was leaving for NYSC, I told my Parent point blank that I am not coming back to stay with them again. I will only visit them to greet them. They were shocked. They were thinking I was playing. Guess what, that is exactly what happened. I hated going back to them. I am the first born. they have trained me through University. why should I go back to them? so first, hate going back. That is what drove me to work out my life. I never regretted it.
Secondly, know that the good job may not come immediately after service. The question then is what will I be doing to keep me going after NYSC since I will going back to my Parents? Right from the first day, I stepped into Osun state for NYSC, I stopped thinking of NYSC. The only thing in my mind is after NYSC, what will I be doing. In the camp, I was asking questions. You have a talent. I love teaching. The day I left camp, I approached many JAMB/GCE lesson centres that same day by just asking people. Because something is in my mind. I am not going back. I must get something to be doing even after NYSC before the big job will come.
SAVE SAVE SAVE. Our allawe then was 6500 and later increased to 7500. I was saving. You must save every month from your allawe. Don't blow everything. Be prudent. Those savings will help you later.
Prepare for tests and interview. Buy aptitude test and interview books, GMAT. Read wide. Develop yourself.
Start applying for jobs from day one. Tuesday and Thursday Guardian was my friend. I don't have money to buy the newspapers as corper. I visit the local vendor as early as 6am to 7am every Tuesday and Thursday. I will give him 10 or 20 naira to scan through the newspaper before the buyers will start coming. I go with my pen and paper to write down vacancies. later, the vendor became my friend, he sometimes give me the newspaper to scan for free. I remember then, he will tell me, "no dirty am oo", dem de come buy am. I will say Oga, I hear. Most young people nowadays are very lazy. Nothing good comes easy. You have to work out your life. It is through this guy's newspaper I landed the good job I was looking for. Nobody helped me. My friends mocked me then, that I an SAN(senior applicant of Nigeria). I told them I am M-SAN(most senior applicant of Nigeria). Be applying, be writing test and be attending interview. You are getting experience.
Start little. Don't go for a costly well furnished accommodation. They gave me accommodation where I did my service. But from day one, I was asking around where I could get cheap accommodation where I will stay after my service. Eventually, I was able to get a good cheap one. If you are batch B for example, there will be some batch A corp members that their rent runs beyond their service period and they want to leave immediately. You can negotiate with them. That is how I got a good one
Above all, be prayerful. Bros, you need God to help you.
Doing all these, barely 3 months after my service, I got the lucrative job I was looking for. Today when, I look back, I feel happy and fulfilled not to have gone back. If I had gone back, I will not struggle the way I did and they will be feeding me 3 times a day. Maybe, I wouldn't have been here.
Very inspiring and motivating. I was totally glued to your story.
