All that was posted on what Amaechi did to the LGA chairmen are true. Every Rivers man knows that Amaechi is insolent and sees himself as God. If sacking PDP exco by competent court will humble him better for the Rivers masses.

The issue of oil wells/some community in dispute between the Kalabari(Rivers Sate) and Nembe(Bayelsa State) has been on over two decades as much as I know. Infact between 1992 and 1996 it was very severe leading to attacks of transport boats along the kalabari-Nembe river killing people. No Kalabari and Nembe man will dispute this age long boundary issue, therefeore the isinuation that Jonathan wants to allocate oil wells from Rivers state to Bayelsa is untrue. Of late the boundary commission has a lot to do especially where the neighbouring states have oil wells in the natural demarcation features, which may have precipitated this reactions.

Solozzo: Having said that, the deaths of he Aluu4 was barbaric, lets not lose sight of the fact that these kids placed themselves at risk, going to retrieve a debt armed with a gun, seizing the debtor's laptop and phone. Brandishing the gun before the vigilante group and so on, thereby giving the impression of being armed robbers.They should have ellicited police supports to retrieve the debt especially from a cult member.

I thought these cults were banned in all universities in Nigeria.

Students desist from violent acts focus on your studies, use police assistance as required. Parents warn your children to face their studies to reduce risk of harm to themselves.

The Aluu community has a right to seek justice. There are many law abiding citizens in Aluu, no doubt. The dastardly act was committees by relatively few bad members of the community and as such the entire community cannot be punished and vilified. The police have a video recording of the criminals and should use this to arrest and prosecute. If the chief did not take part in the murder in any way he should be released. Just because he is the chief of the community does not make him liable for the offences of his people. The police should remember to present the matter to court within two weeks of arrest according to the law. They should not demand money from Aluu villagers to release their chief.

You sit down to make allegations like the Aluu people we are condemning right now.What facts are you laying claim to as to involvement in cultism. You should have known by now that those boys were neither cultist nor thiefs. If you have been following the case closely you would known by now as evidenced in different pix posted and comment that they were paraded to the chiefs palace who gave is approval for their murder hence the open show of barbarism. The police arrived the scene but left perhaps they were told the chief is top of the matter.

A crocodile can be still or motionless for several hours hence the picture looks real. My worry is from which distance was the short taken as this could endanger the photographer. A crocodile would normally attempt to attack a fresh meat like that.

I am ND from Rivers and know very well the yorubas were not in support of military invasion of Odi. Mind you I lost a couple of friends in the Odi massacre  and many other military attacks in ND. As a nation we need to forgive and commonly fight corruption.

Talking about removal of petroleum subsidies, that should be her no 1 priorities. If u understand what is happening in the downstream sector, no one will hesitate to call for its removal. A situation where a ship load of PMS berths, quantified, subsidy claimed, then with collaboration of PPRA, NPA and sometimes NAVY, the terminal owner backloads the products, take it back to the sea, latter bring it back as fresh product and claim yet another subsidy, then back loads again and maybe go and sell to Equatorial Guinea, Cameroun etc @ international prices, often x3 of susidised pump prize, the cycle continues. We are talking about billions of Naira in each of this cycle, since these ships carry at least upward of 20 million litres. The whole system stinks. I know because I work as pet Inspector in the industry.

Well its unfortunate that Nigerians can sabotage the economy that way but still not a good reason to remove fuel subsidy. In a sound and corrupt free country no one would have expected such mess of importing fuel when we have more than enough. At the moment it seems to be the only national cake that benefits 150million of us- as soon as subsidy is gone, you will see the price of things will reach the roof and their will be wahala in the land.

Yes Ogonis are in Rivers State. They are a riverine people like the Ijaw and their language/culture is influenced by Ijaw, Igbo and their other neighbors. I think their population is 500k-1 million.

It is wrong to assume and it is better to ask than post what is obviously wrong. The Ogonis in Rivers State are not riverine but termed upland. They have some rivers though! but mainly farmers. Their language/culture is distinct and not in anyway influenced by Ijaw or Igbo. They have the most difficult language to understand and speak slightly close in sounds only to efik/ibibio. Their population may be around 500k.

It will be okay if the new campus in GPH carries the world class medical school. The existing campus will not suit that purpose considering the structures and the size except their is a plan to rebuild by demolition the old ones-(no need to demolish if you ask me). Once again he can build new faculties and introduce new courses in a campus in GPH-no problems provided the existing one is turned to world class university by upgrading the school lab/workshops/library, LT, etc.

we call it SMART that is Specific, Measurable, Achievebale, Realistic, and Time band. Again giving orders will not solve the problem all NNPC needs to do is privitize the refineries and allow private people that know how to manage well take over. Building 3 more refineries that will disfunction after 5 years is bad.

I think his problem is not sekibo or ACN. Nyesor Wike his campaign manager was one of the problems he had hence he tactically sent him out to be minister in GEJ cabinet. The opposition is helping him to be on his toes by asking questions the average rivers may not asked openly. They may be faulty in some but some are meaningful. Take the state procurement law for example, the state house of assembly made a law in 2009 that enables the Governor to spend 30% of the revenue budgeted/actual at the volition of the governor.
We were told the monorail is joint funded by government and PPP, so why is so much money been sink into it again when the state claims to be meeting its obligation.
Why build a new university in a new site when the existing one has all it takes but needed proper funding to be world class. The same mistake made in building a new stadium now they are getting worried how to maintain it. It will rot like the old ones because nothing new in policy has been put in place.

For all those saying GEJ will not benefit from this tenure elongation , I call only ask you not to run your lives as naively as you view political events given how you can miss all that Nigerian political history should have made crystal clear to you. Of all the pressing issue at hand this one that will "not benefit" GEJ is the most important for him to deal with right now abi? I hail una Einstein thinking. This morning the governor was on air with rythm 93.70 fm for 30 minutes. He was queried seriously on the roads and he did accepted mistakes made and promised to fix them. He confirmed most the arguments here but gave reasons such as funds and rainny season as the major setback. In ensuring that projects are adequately financed the state has gone borrowing. Explaining that in June Rivers State got N45billion because of backlog of arears owed by FG. Internal genereated revenue is put at N4.5billion.
On the new model jet, he said we had two jets before and he sold one to Cross River for $9million which has been pumped into the system to build more schools of which one of the schools will be named after the jet. The remaining one is dangerous to fly with hence he cannot risk his life. He is rather trading in and will pay only the difference in price to the manufacturers.
On road maitenance, he planned on having a special unit in the ministry with asphalt plant to minimize cost.

Your query of if people live in PH is worrisome. You are not more Port Harcourt resident than pple here making constructive criticism of Amaechi. I admire your contributions a lot on this forum but on this you are wrong. Amaechi is over hyped even before the elections for simple reasons of Odili waste and useless 8yrs. Governors forum chairman is certainly going to be a distraction to Amaechi- he is already making effort to buy 2012 model jet for his frequent Abuja travels that will add no value to the average Rivers man. If you partook/move round in the just concluded garden city games 2011, you will see the mess ups(besides opening and closing ceremony jamboree in elekahia stadium) etc.

I expect that you disput that Amaechi has not gotten more than Odili even with credit crunch you mentioned. As for the ring road it was dropped due to political reasons so lets not get there. Greater PH project is almost been dropped and dont tell me is money. Anyway he has done good jobs but we expect something better than what we have presently.

The roundabout being constructed by Prodeco is at the instance of NLNG not Amaechi. But it is a good emphasis on how road should be evaluated and constructed - the culvert across from the NLNG site to the exit flow canal will ensure ease of passage of water and enable the road stand for a long time. The question is why do the private firms like Prodeco get it right and why can't we get our work ministry to function similarly?

Good point made. The problem with the work ministry is corruption and nothing less. A friend of mine told me how he tried fixing a pot hole that will last for a long time during the operation zero potholes and the effort was fraustrated by the same ministry workers that are suppose to insist on high standards.

You made a good assessment of Port Harcourt. Odili 8 years was a waste but did not mean we should accept anything just because Amaechi is performing better than his former boss. Someone mentioned earlier that Odili got more revenue than Amaechi---please that is wrong by any standard. Odili 8years was approximately N800billion while Amaechi 3years is about N1.2 trillion check the records and see. There may be inflation but not so much so there is more money now than before. Odili is history and we dont want to remember that name anymore.

Must we criticize everything? Gov Amaechi never said that Rivers State can not pay the new minimum wage. He only spoke on behalf of some states who can not, in his capacity as the Governors Forum Chairman. I do not see how his intention to trade an old jet for a new one should raise eyebrows. Someone even suggested chartering planes anytime he wants to travel. Have you done a comparative study on the cost implication? Another even suggested that the money should be used to sink boreholes! I know there are children here but can we be more mature in reasoning?

The Texas Gov can afford to fly public in a country where there are scheduled flights every hour to almost every city. We should stop making unintelligent comparisons but make comments based on the reality on ground. It is very easy to bash public officials but we must try to be constructive in our criticism. If you lived in Nigeria, you would have known that Gov Amaechi is rated as one of the best performing governors, i.e comparatively speaking and his buying a jet for THE STATE would not stop him from "sinking boreholes". Do you have problem with the poor masses having water to drink. I once travelled to Oshogbo, Osun State and discovered not even a single household has borehole yet the public taps are highly functional with good and steady drinking water for all residents. Rivers state budgets billion every year but not a single part of Port Harcourt enjoys public water. I pay heavy tax even as a Rivers man and you expect me to clap hand for Amaechi for this waste.

It is indeed a pity that Amaechi will enbark on such jamboree. Since 1999 Rivers State has had rubber stamp House of Assembly(remember Amaech was speaker for 8yrs) when Odili planned on laundering some funds and it was exposed, he quickly rushed to buy this plane and the rubber stamp assembly headed by Amaechi quickly approved it without a single debate. If you visit or live in Port Harcourt, you will cry for the deployarable road and flooding. In Port Harcourt every single household has a borehole for water supply as the state water is no longer existing and yet the governor is using over $40million to buy a new jet. Now how many states governors fly on personal jet? and what economic benefit do we get from this?

Please stick to your wishes do not let anyone force you to marry out of pity because of the number of years of relationship. As for those promising you death and ill luck in life. leave it to God! He should atleast speak on the state of the nation. This is very common in developed country when there are national issues people want to know the government direction. All is not well at the moment. He can call SNF.
