Some of you guys just talk without hearing yourselves. You don't break away from a criminal friend with force.

GEJ is not Nigeria. Not one man show. But Nigeria's burden is on his head. He is very smart. If you know what he knows, you will ask him to move even more cautiously. GEJ needs both Clark & AMAECHI
Good.

TravelRe: Assumed Legalized Bribery By The Nigerian Immigration At Mm Airport by Bensonite: 11:34pm On Jun 30, 2011
Good thread sharing experience on how our immigration and custom officers behave in our airport. Really a shame. Most people have given valid suggestion, you need to be firm and always try to arrive early to deal with some delays like this. Never give any dollar/naira except willingly a paltry N200 or N100. I have been confronted by this guys severally but they surprised at my boldness. They use tactics and ask anything for us.
My major concern is how do we get this things to stop- no where else not even in other Africa countries do you see such. Foreigners see this things and find it difficult to respect us.

That aside, the screening process was a huge joke.
Did you just arrive from moon, you must not be a petroleum engineer to head the petroleum ministry. Moreso she has got a successful career in SPDC(Shell) combined with the MBA. All you need is good managerial skill. In this country what you study may not really matter except in Medicine and Law little of highly professional discipline.

Akainzo:
The 'local content policy has been pushed for a long while by NNPC much before she came into power. Since the passing of the local content bill, the oil industry has responded and more Nigerians are getting contracts awarded to them. Note that its been almost 10 years now that a Nigerian company, Addax petroleum, got awarded that billion dollar contract, and she was not Minister then.
It is so easy to hide under the refuge of 'I am being persecuted.' The question I ask however is: Are you guilty or did you put yourself in such position due to your corruption? Once the answer is YES, then you need to be removed from public office.

You wonder why they should descend so low to publish the sordid details or you wonder why they should go that low to investigate the sordid details. I would wonder that if they really needed money and had all those facts, Allison would gladly pay higher than 10M to kill the story - don't you think so? embarassed
Point of correction, Addax Petroleum is not and have never been a Nigerian company.
So you mean Mrs Madueke will be glad to be paying any media house to kill a story-be serious man. The truth is IOC do not want to see the PIB passed. Local content resently passed is already causing panic and fear in the oil/gas industry.

If these is what democracy entails then shame on Nigeria for emulating these system of government. I can see why they are called legislooters. For those telling us how expensive Abuja housing is keep your sermon. For those blaming PDP alone keep silent, all the parties will benefit from this waste.
So if an old legislator retains his accommodation, he would still benefit from these national cake. Next will be their normal N5million furniture allowancehuhhuh?//

From the previous appointment, the NYSC issue came up but she does have an exemption letter so that would not be a problem. I think generally she is doing a good job and people(the cabal both local and foreign) are just trying to fight her. Never mind she will scale through though.

While this may serve as a deterent to people who think they can flout the law and get away with it, I hope due process was followed in his sacking as I highly doubt a court marshall can be done in 3 days. I hope GEJ takes a leaf out of the Army's book and duly recall the Maudeke woman who never did her NYSC.
For your update only! Mrs Madueke got an exemption letter from NYSC as this came up during her first appointment in 2007 at the floor of the senate. So back to the OP.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Opens Up, Names Their Suicide Bomber by Bensonite: 9:00am On Jun 27, 2011
I am surprised IGP has not been sacked till date. If BH has concluded plans on attacking the police only then Nigerians do not really have problems with that because the police itself is now the problem we live with. A police can kill a taxi driver who tries to pass without paying N20 and nothing happens in this country. They will even sample guns around the taxi driver and show him on network news but when it comes to BOKO HARAN no way for them.
BH stay up north and do not come towards SS as we will personally annihiliate you guys.

Why hasnt GEJ or the Nigerian police gone to the creeks and kill the various MEND leaders bombing, kidnapping and killing people?

Is it because MEND is being sponsored by GEJ?
You are insane no doubt. Please check on the psycholologist 2morrow. Can you count how many fights took place on the creeks between the ND boys and JTF. Who is police to the ND boys. see go take your tablets quick quick.
On the OP,
Nigeria is a failed state. An incidence happened two years ago and just because miscreants BOKO HARAM intimidate them they are reopening a forgotten case to help pacify this Islamic sect. I bet them if JTF apply 10% of the maximum force used in the ND, it will take a few seconds to extinguish them all-BH.
PoliticsRe: N38b: No Court Can Try Me - Bankole; Demands Apology From Farida by Bensonite: 4:14pm On Jun 24, 2011
X-factoria:
Bioye, I insist you need to be schooled. See the bolded phrase in excerpt from the article you refeered me to and tell me what it means:

Fresh facts which emerged at the weekend concerning the N10billion loan scandal in the House of Reresentatives that just ended its tenure suggest that the sourcing which resulted in the present situation was the product of an executive session where members insisted on enhancing their allowances.

And whereas former Speaker Dimeji Bankole is the one facing the fire, Sunday Vanguard is now in possession of documents which show that the genesis of the hoopla was an executive session of the House of Representatives on Thursday March 25, 2010, where Hon. Aminu Tambuwal briefed the House regarding the "restiveness of members and the possible crisis that may erupt in the House because of the issue of enhanced allowances that members have been clamoring for".

The two major resolutions of that executive session was the agreement to pass the 2010 budget and the briefing by Tambuwal who was said to have made a very passionate plea for the upward review "so that members would be happier". It was based on that briefing that the House set up a 37-member committee, with members drawn from each state of the federation and the FCT.

The following week, Tuesday, March 30, 2010, another executive session held and the committee reported back, whereupon it was agreed that each member should, from January 1, 2010, be paid N42 million quarterly as running cost as against the former running cost of N22 million.

Also, based on the plethora of correspondences between the Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, DDFA, National Assembly Management, Speaker Bankole and the Clerk of the House, Sani Omolori, Sunday Vanguard discovered that the funds in question were expended on the agreed enhanced allowances for members.

The new running cost that was approved by the executive session of March 30, 2010, is as follows:

Speaker, N100m

Deputy Speaker, N80m

House Leader, N60m

Dep. House Leader, N57.5m

Chief Whip, N55m

Dep. Chief Whip, N54.5m

Minority Leader, N54.5m

Minority Whip, N50m

Dep. Minority Leader, N50m

Dep. Minority Whip, N50m

In fact, members, at that session, also decided that money should be earmarked for the payment of outstanding allowances for members from 1999 - 2007, and that money should also be set aside for selected services as follows:

Committee Secretariat

House Admin

Insurance

Chamber Services

The executive session of that day was presided over by Deputy Speaker Nafada. It was, nonetheless, a decision of the whole House, which meant the speaker was also included.

Interestingly, however, to meet the payment for the new running cost for members, the leadership of the House resorted to borrowing money. N2.5billion was borrowed from the management of the National Assembly.
X-factoria,
I guess you did not only schooled Bioye but a good number of readers. My worry is we have a constitutional problem that allow this guys to make illegal resolutions to enrich their pocket.

Oga no vex, but the truth is if you leave the southerners to manage the oil they we use millitancy to kill each other. I'm from the south but surely we southerners are greedy and leave us to our oil we will oppress each other, we will use our superior corrupt mind to steal and loot even far more than we are seeing currently. Imagine cost of living in the south and compare it to the north, My brother I guess it is important we look at the best way to develop the country instead of wasting valuable time preaching hate, the money from the oil currently can even develop the whole west africa!! grin
You are deceiving yourself as it is clear from your write-up you are neither from SS or the broad southerners you claim.
BusinessRe: North’ll Kill Petroleum Industrial Bill-ex-minority Leader by Bensonite: 11:04am On Jun 24, 2011
Yoru_Igbo:
The problem is SS have all these resources (Oil and Gas) but they lack the right manpower cheesy grin I remember during my days in the university, one oil company came to our school looking for Bayelsa and Rivers students in the School of Engineering but not even one!! although I told them to FF off!! As in if you are looking for Bayelsa student, go to Naija you will see loads of them and stop looking for them in Europe grin

The truth is most oil companies in the so called Niger Delta are either run by Oyibo, Yoruba or Igbo people, God no dey give you everything otherwise you go wan rub shoulder with God, He gave Naija Delta oil but no manpower, God gave the west(oyibo people) intelligent men and women but they are not short of natural disaster but He gave Africa loads of Natural resources and made African leaders Natural disaster grin grin
@ Yoru_Igbo,
It is not true that Rivers and Bayelsa or other ND states do not have manpower. This is the very deception that has been causing all the problems. When you do recruitment in Lagos and Abuja, and select who you like and come back to tell us trash. I do not want to make this piece too long I would have cited thousands of example and proofs. If they visited your very school and did not find any ND well it could be a one off case but many ND indigenes have completed programmes in oil and gas from the UK without gaining employment.

This is the reason why people fail examinations and blame their lecturers. The OP clearly says "To All GEJ Supporters- Do you regret your vote" and we find chronic haters of GEJ pre/post elections commenting.
For me I have no regret as he his better than the alternatives in the 2011 polls. So far he is still on 50% pass which is a "C" but we need atleast a "B".
PoliticsRe: Presidential Amnesty Programme Is Over - Ceo by Bensonite: 9:13am On Jun 21, 2011
In the first place, the amnesty programme was wrong as the people of Niger Delta are the ones to give this contraption called Nigeria amnesty for cheating us for over 50years. However, since some elements within Niger Delta took to illegality by kidnapping innocent ones and the series of battle within the creeks and villages leading to colossal loss of human lives, properties and cut in oil production(by 50%), the amnesty or whatever name that was appropriate for it was only a device to bring peace and let the oil flow-whether it can be sustained is a debate for another topic.
For those calling for the scrap you do not mean well for the people of ND. In as much as we need development, we need peace for it to happen. The Niger Delta ministry via NDDC is already awarding oversea scholarships/ skill acquisition to non-militant youths from ND. Certainly not enough to cover the teeming unemployed youths but a step in the right direction. That amnesty was over is no news, just that some persons are still wishing to join knowing that some have benefitted immensely in terms of exposure and freedom to enjoy their oil bunkering money without playing hide and sick.

OP,
I am disappointed at your write up. You failed to convince anyone reasons why Tambuwai should be removed but rather choose to tribalise your views on the speakership. If I may ask what sacrifice did the SW do GEJ that you can not list for us to review that would warrant the suspension of rhe duly elected Speaker. If you had linked Tambuwa with the current corruption case of BANK(OLE) perhaps that would have made some point. In fact your post is ruuuuubbbbbbissh.

PoliticsRe: My Father Would Have Checked Boko Haram, Says Mohammed Abacha by Bensonite: 4:22pm On Jun 10, 2011
I would have kept silent on this thread but for the sake of history, I need to make my comment. Abacha self succession plan led to the  formation of the infamous Kanu led Youth Earnestly Asked For Abacha was what gave birth to arms struggle in the the Niger Delta. Over a million youths from across Nigeria were gathered in Abuja to campaign for Abacha and the boys from ND(the ijaws mainly) saw what oil money built/ still building in Abuja then and upon return they went for a fortification with Ijaw deity Egbesu and later started series of attack on the government house of Bayelsa(a new created state with military administrator) demanding for same development to be done there. This attacks continued while Abacha was still in Power till the then Military administrator for Bayelsa was changed. So those claiming that Abacha regime did not witness any security issues either do not know or the media was not making so much noise about it. I rest for now.
