Image123:I am happy you for once admitted it was ill-advised or better still a premature announcement that has put the country in this state! However, saying is the best decision is hilarious! Everyone already knew subsidy was no longer sustainable and was definitely going by the end of June, hence praising the current president sounds funny! More like taking credit for another person's decision! And no Sir, you are absolutely wrong! The appropriation act that was signed on 2021 made provision for subsidy until the end of June,2023! You can confirm that on the internet! Of course there should gave been a consultation on the removal of subsidy! You can't just take it out instantly without putting in place an amelioration process that is meant to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal! If the effect doesn't affect you,it will definitely affect millions of businesses and individuals who depend on PMS for their everyday life! Stop being insensitive! ![]() Do you really need the speech of the presidential candidate of LP to actually buttress or validate the president's need to remove subsidy? At the risk of sounding like a broken record, everyone whether fully or grudgingly have accepted that subsidy is a scam and can't be sustainable hence the need for it to go! What people are against is the outright removal without even providing a single process that can reduce the sufferings of Nigerians! If you have a tooth ache and the affected tooth has to go,the dentist must first administer a drug that ensures the pain of the removal is reduced...an outright removal could cause severe pain to the point of death! |
sunboy:Oga How you even think I'm shouting through my comments is perplexing! |
Image123:The minimum wage is for both public and private enterprise! It also cascades to the Federal and state plus LGA! Its supposed to be for everyone! |
But agbadorians where here defending the former minister of aviation while insulting David who first told us about the sham that accompanied Nigeria Air! Until the former minister as well as other criminals are tried and severely punished, impunity will be inevitable! |
Image123:Once again you are entitled to you opinion! Its also interesting that you haven't called out the president for making that ill advised declaration on inauguration day despite the subsidy being announced to be ending by the end of June,2023! Like I said abinitio,if the FG had decided to have their way,the strike would have commenced and you insults won't change anything! The president must be told to make consultation before uttering any word esp in the interest of the nation! |
sunboy:See whether you like it or not subsidy removal will ultimately inflate prices of goods and services whether we increase minimum wage or not! Its inevitable! However,in other for cash to flow in the system and possibly give the economy a slight lift, the FG needs willing spenders and that can only occur when there is an increase in the salary of a worker! Its that simple! As for the amount that they will arrive at,my speculation is between 100k to 120k but it will reduce based on the GL of the worker! |
taylor88: ![]() |
Image123:That's your opinion but to me there is nothing foolish about such move! If the FG had put up a stubborn front like their predecessor, the strike would have still been a reality! I hope the president and his team are learning! Its too early in his 'administration' to start having a major confrontation with labour or TUC! This will show that a President with obvious health challenges should not stand on the podium to make reckless statements without thinking or consulting with his team about the impact of such declaration that is as sensitive as PMS! |
If seun is indeed decisive about cleaning up the naira land space of tribal elements, this should have been one of them! A PMS hike that is even affecting OP currently and the only explanation to such increase in price is to claim its a tribal war between Yoruba and igbo? What sort of ignorant folks do we have on nairaland who open threads without thinking or engaging their brain? |
Image123:Since FG is insistent about the immediate removal of subsidy, there will definitely be cost effects and financial changes that will be made which includes salaries as part of the welfare of workers! There is nothing that TUC is demanding that should be strange to you unless you want them to suffer and eventually die of starvation after being made to sacrifice once again for a government that has refused to either fix any of the refineries or even cut down cost of governance! You didn't complain about buhari spending almost 2billion on personal feeding per annum or the humongous salaries the NA members earn every month for doing absolutely nothing but when it concerns workers, you simply find your voice as if one of them stole your gf! Mind you,the 200k will likely be a starting point for negotiations which may gradually reduce to probably a 100k after an agreement has been struck out! Even the 200k you guys see as being huge has been halved by inflation and lost its value currently! What should be paramount to the FG is to ensure that other demands from TUC which includes the private sector are also adhered to while they start commencing the total overhaul of our local refineries! |
sunboy:Either way,the purchasing power was still going to rise anyway! An increase in PMS price will instantly inflate prices of goods and services which will also end up altering the purchasing power of an average Nigerian! |
OGHENAOGIE:Once again refer to my previous comments esp the recent one or better still ask nicely for a pidgin version in case English language is your 'Achilles heels'! As usual, any benighted or irrelevant capping that has zero reference to the topic of discuss is either a dirt bin companion or a regurgitated balderdash not worthy of a response! I won't also reply the 'foolish and ignorant' tag because you are obviously without a single doubt a sole embodiment of both! |
sunboy:You still do not understand the humongous effect that this subsidy removal is causing! Just yesterday night,I gathered 5k that I normally use to buy 25litres of PMS to buy less than 10 litres! Now imagine those who cannot even afford it? Imagine SMEs that would be struggling to afford such expenses every day just to survive! Transport cost have doubled! The 100k you are mentioning, inflation has already halved that money! If not for sympathy, the right amount that should have been given to workers should be in the region of 200k-300k esp when you break down that money and start taking out food expenses, utilities, transport cost etc! The least that TUC will eventually agree on will be 100k or nothing! No be their fault say FG refused to build or repair the refineries! |
sunboy:Its an amount that can be negotiated! That's the mistake the former NLC president made... He should have made it a 100k so that the bargain will be at most 50k With the 200k,FG and organized labour will likely reach an agreement in a range of 100k-120k! |
amodu:Its boldly written in their demands! |
sunboy:If you read the demands TUC was making,it covers all you have said esp the tax holiday part! |
solmusdesigns:U think civil servants don't pay taxes like you? |
Penguin2:Yeah but I believe TUC placed it there hoping when negotiations begin,it will likely get to the region of 120k to 150k |
OGHENAOGIE:Kindly Refer to my previous comments esp the one below in response to your highlighted wordings since you obviously lack basic comprehension....Though I can also assist you with the 'pidgin version' of my comments if that will aid your understanding....the rest of your regurgitated and benighted balderdash are as usual 'Dirt bin companions' and not sensible enough to elicit a response! The problem with your likes is getting involved in a matter you know little or nothing about but instead of making reasonable comments you prevaricate like a man that has lost his way! |
OGHENAOGIE:The problem with your likes is getting involved in a matter you know little or nothing about but instead of making reasonable comments you prevaricate like a man that has lost his way! Go and check the topic of the thread! Does it make any reference to the tribunal? Also go back and check the appropriation act that includes the end of June 2023 until subsidy is removed and stop exposing your ignorance! I will not comment on your last statements because they are either off tangent or completely unnecessary! Next time check a topic before rushing to commenting! Smh |
benjackugo:Like seriously? Are you implying that LP is now bigger than structured party PDP? ![]() |
OGHENAOGIE:Your statements are not only baseless but totally unnecessary! We are not even talking about post election here! That's still at the tribunal so let's leave it there! At the risk of sounding like a broken record,NLC is not against subsidy removal! That is quite explicit! They are against the immediate removal that is taking place a month before the expiration! You cannot remove subsidy with nothing on ground to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians by providing palliatives and ensuring that measures are put in place to ensure that the humongous effect it will cause for an average Nigerian will be reduced! |
SenatePresdo: ![]() So why did you initially ask for proof? Una get wahala ohh |
SenatePresdo: ![]() I will do so but not because of you but for those who might likely be deceived by your lies! https://www.electoralgeography.com/new/en/countries/n/nigeria/nigeria-presidential-election-2003.html
|
Omor see squad This strike go bloody ohh! The President must ensure they assuage the organised labour and leave out politics! |
SenatePresdo:What % did Obj get in 2003 in FCT? Let's start from there with evidence? |
Newton2024:Hahahahaha ![]() |
savcy:That is a big fat lie! At no time in his two terms as president did Obj fail to attain 25% or more in abuja! Go and check the stats and stop regurgitating what they told you on ur whatsapp group! |
Warl0ck:The Nigerian army have been overstretched! State and local policing is inevitable! |
State and local policing ohh Its an idea whose time has already come! It needs to be done now before people start resorting to self help which could be dangerous and might lead to anarchy! |
Firstly, you cannot give such directive as a governor knowing that you do not even have the power to protect them! Secondly, this sit at home will continue until the residents discover that there is adequate security to protect them and their properties! This should have been the right time for the national assembly to bring up state and local government/community policing..however,their utmost concern is who becomes speaker and senate president! Very sad! I repeat....no president can secure the entire nation without the inclusion of state and local policing! |
Sunnymatey:Don't mind them! Ignorance is bliss! |
