All it means is they can't chop as much as they wanted to. Good for them |
Took him getting arrested to tell the truth. Maybe it should happen more often. |
With all these pro obj comments nigeria is in deep deep trouble. One thing about a professional crook is there is always an alterior motive. If you think he went there or anywhere else to "keep the peace" you are sadly mistaken. |
Reason why it won't work is nigeria is not ready to face the truth and deal with the reality. Easiest way to slow boka haram down is to cutoff their funding. Will govt uncover its sponsors no matter who Hell to the No. Case closed. |
For the past week or so wikileaks has made a big splash in the headlines of Nigerian news with the unearthing of some controversial new allegations/information regarding the behind the scenes workings of the Nigerian government. The validity of some of these claims are still under question but for a lot of what has been showcased for the world to see, to many Nigerians it doesn't come as a big surprise. True some of the stories connected to a few people do raise some eyebrows but for over half of the claims there those who are privi to even 4th hand conversations have heard some of these stories. This now brings me to my point. SO WHAT What does this change from the regular routine of the dirty backdealings and backstabbings of Asorock? Who will this compel to change their crooked ways? Which activists or groups will now say we have the ammunition needed to start cleaning up the sesspool Nigeria calls governtment? Its not like the EFCC, a body which was created to curtail a lot of what we see in these leaks and whose boss has been implicated in these leaks as well, will make an effort to address this embarrassment with action. So after all the hubub and hoopla and ooo's and ahhh's can we just stop making noise like something will actually come of this Please![]() |
Nigeria is all about presentation. Once you saw her attitude your whole attitude changed. If you approached her professionally with confidence she would have had no option but to treat you the same way. If you allow them they will take out their lifes fustrations on you |
The guy is a complete failure and is easily one of the worst govenors in nigeria. How many people have died on the deathtrap of an express road, children don't even have common restrooms in schools, govt workers don't receive pay and he wants to insult the intelligence of the people with empty talks of uncompleted projects. He should take notes from his counterpart in Enugu and all he has done. He has made visible strides for the people but for Obi his pocketbook comes first. When private offers were made to assist in developing infrastucture he refused because it would make him look bad. He has the biggest market in west africa in onitsha and not even 1% of its potential has been reached. The tax revenue from onitsha alone could fund projects in the state. You have a cash cow in a dormant port which could benefit not only anambra but the whole south and east region and decongest the traffic in lagos. These are just the obvious failures. He should be punished for his enormous disappointing tenure. |
In the bigger picture why wasn't he brought in by Jonathan to change the education sector With this post alone he could legitimise the failed state of education in this country. Th reason Nigerians have a hard time finding jobs abroad is because no university is ranked above 6000 in Nigeria. Better education equals better jobs and easier visas but people don't care about that. Gej promised fresh air but I don't see it if you wouldn't bring in someone who would change education in Nigeria in the next six months talkless of someone who had two years and didn't do a thing. Congrats Prof. |
Is this Nigeria? If a ordinary gate man is corrupt what is left for politics? Nigeria needs a reality check. Politics is a dirty game. |

This question is a very tired question. Its been asked several times over but it does nothing to change reality. There are many other underlying problems in Nigeria to tackle before we even get to economic factors. The truth is whenever Nigeria is ready for serious change, people will be ready to sacrifice themselves for others to see a better future, how many Nigerians do you know who will do just that? America is America, Nigeria is Nigeria. America found its way to get to where they are today, Nigeria has to do the same, and until people are tired of managing and demand for what is theirs all these old crooks will still treat Nigeria like a bank account. Any change for good means money from their pocket. Till then what's the use of asking? |
Nigeria is not ready for change, it just sounds good to them like the Obama slogan "yes we can". We like the idea but aren't ready to do what it takes to get there |
Before anyone knew Barack Hussein Obama as the President of the United States, few knew him as the Senator from Illinois. If you follow his history, he was a man who dedicated his time, energy, and efforts to the servitude of his people. That is the only way he was able to grasp the need of the masses, not just the elite, and rally his way to the Presidency of the United States. Similarly, we have the same exact type of candidate in Rev. Prof. Peter Nwangwu, who left the U.S. after living there for 34 years to give back to his country and after his servitude to Nigeria at UNN has taken the leap to serve his country in an even bigger capacity. I had the unique chance to attend his press conference which makes me such a believer. The difference with him is he specifies the problems we have here in Nigeria and gives specific answers to solving the problems we have, not just empty rhetoric. There is not ONE candidate I have seen with the conviction and vision that I saw at that press conference. After being an avid GEJ supporter, he made me a believer in his vision and how he will help Nigeria change. The question is are we as Nigerians ready to support a fairly known candidate from a fairly known party who is more than qualified to do the job? I for one doubt it but I hope I'm wrong. For those of you who doubt my conviction see it for yourself at www.nwangwuforpresident.com. After you've seen the evidence I dare anyone to say anything contrary to what I've seen myself firsthand. |
Good luck spreading your message, no pun intended. If this was the case Prof. Peter Nwangwu would lead Nigeria to the promise land but we as a country aren't ready for the responsibility of have a good country, and or can't get past ancient ideology to vote for such a candidate |
None and Nope |
Truth of the matter is you gotta come and see for yourself. Opportunity is here but you have to feel out which one is best for you |
Hello all. The other day I was having a discussion with a friend about investment habits of todays generation. I argued that most times when someone gets 20-100k in their hand its usually gone by the next weekend, spent on a different number of things. I added that if they were to invest that money instead of spend it they would see returns in less than a year. His argument was that there was nothing else better to do with the money than enjoy it fully. He added that there was nothing that one could invest a sum of 20,000 naira into and see returns. My question to nairaland is if you had 20,000 naira donated to you, how would you spend it? Is there a profitable way to invest 20,000 naira?? |
Only difference is in developed countries they make it seem like they are looking out for the average person so someone could sue and win. In developing countries, not so much, they make it appearant that they could care less unless it affects them personally. |
Not sure how credible this is but appearantly a 419er was duped and the transaction was documented. http://www.thescambaiter.com/FORUM/showthread.php?t=109 |

What a mockery and abuse of power. Not saying the guy is right for what he did, but if it were addressed to his neighbor will the same actions have been taken? Even if the neighbor took the matter to the police they would ask him, did anyone die then tell him to go home and sit down. Gotta call a spade a spade. |
That if you have a backbone things can change. But if your happy with the way things are because your scared, you'll be trampled on for the rest of your life. |
All these statements of why a person would study in america rather than Nigeria are laughable. Nigeria doesn't have a school ranked in the top 300 in the world and I'm being generous with that estimation. I blame the Govt but the govt is essentially run by the people so you can't have one without the other. I will say in Nigeria we are too quick to settle. If something isn't right everyone "manages it" which isn't right. If the attitude towards a lot of things changed in Nigeria we would have done a very big thing as a nation |
Let's be realistic people, fresh air won't be seen in Nigeria for a while. The people who can bring it will never be given a fair chance to. All the old characters are still in the background praying this fresh air never comes. |

How can we know if people did their job campaigning if the Gov. Of the state wants to rig the election or simply hand the ticket to Dora He has no say so in the election but that obviously isn't turning out to be the case. For Mrs. Rebranding to support these efforts makes her a mockery. Add everyone who could care less about her and Obis efforts I see why they feel as if they can succeed. |
