Thav TV The people of the Republic of Kenya have decided that there is no one better suited to run the affairs of the country for the next five or ten years than the newly elected William Samoei Arap Ruto. In a general election which was held on Tuesday the 9th of August 2022, the people of Kenya came out to cast their votes with their preferred candidates in mind, and after six days of vote counting, on Monday 15th August, crowned current Deputy President William Samoei Arap Ruto as their new President. The election process which consists of two rounds, were to win the first round a candidate is expected to garner over 50% of the vote nationally and 25% of the vote in at least 24 of Kenya’s 47 counties saw the 55-year-old emerge successor to his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta by a close margin of 50.49% of votes against his closest challenger Raila Odinga’s 48.85 % of votes, under the umbrella of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Although the President-elect is known to be of a humble background, remembered by residents of Eldoret town as a barefoot schoolboy who used to sell chickens at a roadside stall, this does not in any way impair his leadership abilities, as even as a schoolboy, he has always been the brightest of students. “I could not imagine somebody who did not have shoes for all his life in primary school could become president.” “We imagine all leaders are from rich families, He was always the boy with the highest marks in the school in Sambut village,” said a lady identified as Esther Cherobon, who was in Ruto’s year at school. Ruto, who is expected to assume office on 9th April 2023, in his acceptance speech on Monday said; “It was God that brought us here…my team and I will make sure that the sacrifices made by many Kenyans are not in vain…we will not let them down. I am confident that this country will come together and we can move forward as one democratic nation.” “I will run a transparent, open, democratic government and I will work with the opposition to the extent that they provide oversight over my administration.” https://thavmedia.com/william-ruto-emerges-kenyas-president-elect/ |
