Listen. Dont be in a hurry to dispute what I've said. I've discovered as regards history especially the Nigerian civil war, a lot of online sources render untrue accounts probably due to ethnic sentiments/leanings on both sides. A more reliable way is to read accounts by key participants in that war and not some hogwash written by someone with second hand motives. Nevertheless, I recommend you read Now a omoigui's essays on the civil. They give quite a balanced view of events in that war. Too bad I'm busy at the moment, I'd have sought it out for you.

While meeting with President Buhari in the White House on Monday, President Obama reiterated the truth that many here have told those who think that division is the solution to the problems in their live. Below is Obama taking a wipe at such misconceptions:

A divided country never succeeds. Turn the diversity of Nigeria to source of strength, Obama tells PMB.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn to lead with fairness, constitutional provisions and protect the whole of Nigeria, it is only wise to seek way to bring good governance and development to our local communities. Therefore anyone luring you to arm confrontations, secession and the quest to undermine and destroy Nigeria, do not have your interest at heart. We must rid ourselves of mischief makers who are whispering evil in our ears.

Together we can build a stronger and better Nigeria.

God bless Buhari, Obama, our beloved Nigeria and all law-abiding Citizens of Nigeria!

Politics / Re: How Did The Name "Biafra" Come To Be. by betty202020(m): 11:27pm On Jul 20, 2015
Eziachi:
The word Biafra is a geographical term that has existed well before the formation of Nigeria.
Just like the geographical terms like gulf of Guinea or gulf of Mexico, so too is the Bight of Biafra.
After the civil war Nigeria authorities renamed the term as the Bight of Bonny.
Biafra as the name for independent state was first suggested by Chief Kemte Giadom (an Ijaw man) on the floor of the old Eastern Regional Assembly. It was debated and was overwhelmingly adopted and was recommended to the executive that adopted it. Not Ojukwu's idea as many are meant to believe.

I'm so pissed lately with the hatred shown by some Nigerians, some nairalanders especially, at President Buhari!
The fact is, Buhari is our president for the next four years, and there's nothing anybody can do to that!

Okay, you don't like him ba? Why? Cos he wasn't the candidate of your choice. And does that mean over twelve million voters that voted him in are fools? That your candidate didn't emerge the winner does not change anything! What it means is that you accept fate and face the future!

Okay, you don't like Buhari cos of what he had said years back or what he did some years ago. You tell me you've never wronged anyone! Or you tell me you never insulted or said what you were not supposed to say!

This is exactly why Nigeria is on standstill, killings here and there, economy this and that! We are moving nowhere and we shout Buhari this, Buhari that, as if he's Jesus that will just do everything gbam!
We are just like the Biblical Israelites that gave Moses a tough time! When we hate the leader, I wonder where the followers will go, and I wonder what their end will be! Well, maybe its cos I'm not current enough, I've never heard or seen cases where citizens yab their leaders like we do in Nigeria!

I am no fan of Buhari, I'm just a fan of my President. It pains me when i see or hear people fault him and call him names cos of this or that. Yes, we did call Mr Jonathan names, but if I'm right, that was towards election period when people saw he was not making sense. Let's be honest, Jonathan started as a President peacefully! There were no chastisement as much as Buhari is getting now!

Buhari is our president, and as loyal and good citizens of this country, let's accept him as he is and show him some encouragement. One thing I learnt from Buhari since he bacame president is that, he's a principled man. He doesn't care what people say, he'll do what he wants to do!

So tell me, why kill yourself on top person wey no sabi say person wan die on top him matter?

Buhari's case is just like football, whether you scream or shout or die or get sick, or place bet, he doesn't care about you! Not that he does care sha, perhaps if he had known some people are somewhere crucifying him, he would have shown care small.

In short, please, let's forget the past and face the future! Let's show love, unite, encourage and correct ourselves in love. Ask yourself, what have you done for your country? Nigerians are becoming chief judge, winning awards abroad and you are there screaming "Nigerians are good. Those people are from my country" when you can do something for our dear country too!

Whether you like it or yes, Buhari knows Nigerians are over 160 million, but he doesn't know you are there!
Think!
hypocrite. who are u to tell someone who to love? when the conspiracy to oust former President was gathering momentum with slanderous article targeted to rubbish his person, did u preach this nonsens? we know he will be there for four years, but it doesn't make any different. if Mugabe will rule more than thirty years, what is four years? if Gaddafi ruled more than 25yrs, what is 4/8 yes? so keep quiet.

Politics / Re: The Fall And Fall Of Biafra - Detective Krojo. by betty202020(m): 6:02pm On Jul 18, 2015
AOjoeguari:
THE FALL AND FALL OF BIAFRA | Detective Krojo.

If the dream of a Biafra ever come through, who will lead it?

The Orjis, the Kalus, the Ngiges, the Mbas or the Ubas?

Same old recycled criminals who will murder themselves for power supremacy.
The one man who would have led an upright Biafra is Col. Ojukwu, of blessed memory - Biafra died with him.

Nigeria is not perfect but it's better of being ONE NIGERIA.

The Northern Nigeria has been backward because they allowed some group of leaders to rule over them for decades. If they ever be a Biafra, certain group of oligarchs will rule for decades. They ll be power tussles amongst them; they ll be bloodshed.

The Kalus will never allow the Ubas to rule over them. Even the Dokubos of the Niger Delta creeks ll fight for prominence. Biafra ll go many years backward.

This whole idea is a sham, a delusion of gigantic propensity.

If they ever be a Biafra, will the Ibibio or Itsekiri man, who's a micro-minority but produces considerable amount of the Niger Delta crude oil, be allowed to be President?
My guess is NO.

Those things we all kicked against in Nigeria will be replayed in Biafra.
Men are just one set of confused and greedy super-animals.

Shallow minded men think that 'Biafra' is the solution to ethnic bigotry in Nigeria. The same Biafra you are proposing will have over 60 ethnic groups with conflicting interests. The Ijaw - Itsekiri ethnic war was fought within the Biafran proposed map because they differ in interests.

The Ibibio and Eleme men will disagree in so many things. The Mbano man will never trust the Mbaise man. The Isoko will feel oppressed by the Ibos or Ijaws. The Ibos and Ijaws will battle for leadership.

At the end, the Ibos will dominate for half a century and other minorities will clamour for secession - and the cycle begins.

Madness!

Even within the Igbo clans, there are historic divisions amongst them - the Anambra man thinks he's more superior than the Ebonyi man, so he would want the capital of Biafra to be located in Anambra. The Okorochas and Ohakims from Imo would disagree with the idea. Intra-bigotry begins.

See, I love the Igbos as much as I love the Niger Deltans but I will be anything against the advent of Biafra.

Biafra is a deceit to be sold to the SS region. Ofcourse, the gullibles and those who are still sunk in the quicksand of Jonathan's defeat, would be eager to buy it.

I wish you 'Happy Buying!'

eesy:
The problem of Biafra is going to be worst than Boko Haram if something is not done now. I am surprised the federal government haven’t said or done anything yet to stop it. The way the east is right now, I think the second civil war is coming and as such something needs to be done. We all know that Nigeria is facing a lot of problems now, Terrorism, Unemployment, lack of power and the fall in the Nigerian economy. A war would be catastrophic. It will reduce our population further, already thousands have lost their lives from Terrorism and health issues.
I think the government should diversify the economy. The east is boiling because Nigeria is surviving through the oil in the east and south and that Nigeria doesn’t regard them as anything the rob them of their oil and as if that is not enough the go ahead dominating them. All important positions are taken by the west and the north who haven’t contributed to the well being of the economy. They feel the North and West are ripping from where they didn’t sow and this makes them want their own country where they can control their oil.
If the economy is diversified that is Agriculture to the North, Manufacturing or Tourism to the west and Oil to the south it will go a long way in kyboshing Biafra and as well boost the economy and reduce unemployment and the standard of living in Nigeria will improve.

where is the 100 ways solution u brought?

‎The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Abuja is insisting that it has effectively neutralised the Biafran radio station.

A statement signed by the Director General of the NBC, Emeka Mba said the commission "has effectively neutralised illegal broadcasts from the seditious pirate station that has recently shattered the peace in parts of the South-East of Nigeria with unsavoury hate messages."

The commission said that it worked with security operatives to track down, neutralise and confiscate transmitter equipment from several locations in the region.

The statement said: "The commission has also worked with other agencies to remove the transmissions of illegal station from the satellite, and this has put paid to the divisive and disruptive transmissions. We are working on the Internet transmissions."

The commission said it appreciated the concerns expressed by Nigerians over the seditious activities of the illegal 'Biafra Radio' transmitting hate messages, "that are unfortunately designed to create dis unity among Nigerians and mislead young people in a deliberate act of subversion.

The commission called on the public to disregard the hate messages coming from the misguided station.
