Hello all,

Recently, I made enquiry from a friend about the Confucius Institute at Unilag.

He informed that the Centre was closed during the COVID pandemic in 2020 and yet to re-open, even in year 2022.

How true is this, please? Thanks

You can pay online if you're going DIY.

And again my nin is showing no data found.

It's too early to get worried about this. You'll know if your NIN is validated or not at the point of submission of your file for verification.

QUICK UPDATE: I finally did my capturing (biometrics) after all the back and forth

Registered last week, submitted yesterday after all their shenanigans. DIY is not easy but it’s definitely worth it!

Collection date is showing 16th May , which is five days from today. How feasible is that

I've witnessed a DIY 64-page/10-year passport issued in 7 days.

Just as you had earlier stated, give them as many weeks before checking back.

Stories of applicants paying so much for nothing extra-ordinary & still being under-served abound on this thread and everywhere.

The whole system is just a cesspit of corruption. It needs massive overhauling.

If you're still in Sagamu, just ask the officers at SERVICOM what waiver you can get considering that you are also presenting your NIN (containing your DoB) which will definitely still be verified by them.

Secondly, get an affidavit handy. For your passport application & more, you'll need to constantly prove your relationship with your husband & children.

- What visa category do you belong to?
- What is your priority date?
- Is your priority date (by you category) current on the Visa Bulletin?

You need to first evaluate your application by these points before discussing DQ & IL.

Hello Everyone, hope you enjoyed the long holiday. Please what exactly is going on with Stanbic Mutual Funds, I noticed that the interest rate is abysmally low right now. This is how they will be making someone eye Fairmoney with 15% interest rate! I dont even want to go near any microfinance bank. I am very risk averse which is why I chose mutual funds but what is all these stagnancy of interest rates?

How can everything be this expensive in Nigeria and interest rates be this low?

The money I have in mutual funds will give me a generous fetching somewhere else but I have been burnt twice investing with unscrupulous Nigerians and there will not be a third time.

Is there any hope of resurrection for mutual funds or I should just go and start POS business? �

The underlying instruments are generally low.

You can also invest in the monthly FGN Savings Bond.
For last month, 7.338% & 8.338% were offered on the 2 & 3-year bonds respectively. The bulletin for May will be released by the DMO in few days' time.
Interest is payable quarterly.

- Guarantor's form is not needed for passport renewal.

- However, your NIN is compulsory.

- Other requirements have been previously listed. You can check page 446.

- It's good you're being proactive by applying for your passport renewal early enough.

Note: A common challenge that you may encounter is when NIS officials say your NIN has not been "validated" or "dropped".
So, in foresight, I'll suggest that immediately you complete your online application, just send NIMC an email (replicate same through their Twitter & Facebook DMs). You can use this format shared by pufframy:

Don't bank on them:

1. You may or may not receive any message.

2. 'Collection Date' is also not reliably indicative that your passport is physically ready.

Lols! It would have been hellish if she had made the mistake on her NIN. However, I'm 'glad' that the error only happened on her NIS application form (and not NIMC's).
All things being equal, that should be 'more direct' to resolve.

She may be asked to provide an affidavit to support the error. Prepare her mind for it, amongst other contingencies.

Las las, if you have time, Omo DIY is the way, I don't believe I'd have collected mine in June but I don't want to risk trying it out, it'll spoil a lot of my plans for the year.

'Urgency' and 'DIY' don't go together at any Passport Centre. It's funny but that's the sad truth.

The officers are crooked psychologists. The more unbothered you look to the greedy and corrupt officers, the more disinterested they are in extorting money from you.

They are 'predators' and they are instinctively programmed to sense desperation in passport applicants from a hundred kilometers away.
They meet with you, subtly threatening you on why your application will be hampered while guilt-tripping you for being a DIY (a.k.a 'Self-Download').

iguita: @Toplap I asked for my enrollment slip so I can see the date that I am to collect but as someone alleged, they do not want to give the slip, obviously because they do not want you to have the date either because they want to scam people to FasTrack or because they don't want people bugging them

I agree with you on the bolded. It takes a good luck to have your Collection Date (Expected) and Issuance Date (Actual) fall on same day. Best to hope that the variance is not much.

The NIS have not been consistent in notifying via phone calls & text messages.

December 2021 to date is about 4 months. It's long enough waiting.

Whenever you have the chance, just go to the Centre to find out if your passport is ready.
You can also send somebody to enquire on your behalf, provided he/she has your enrolment number.

Once adequate stock of passport booklets are maintained and printing/production units are working at optimum capacity across all the Centres, I believe this development can be sustained.

Passport issuance this year seems to be automated and faster than that of last year. This year, there have been records of DIYers who got theirs exactly on the collection date. Even the day I collected, people who captured late March got their passports same day I did.
PS: This is for Alausa centre. I wouldn't know how others operate.

You're very fortunate to have the actual issuance date (22-March-2022) coming just 14 days after the one stated on your collection slip (8-March-2022).

I know of someone who had her collection date as 27-August-2021, and when she eventually picked up her passport last month, the issuance date stated on her pp turned out as 15-February-2022 (that's 172 days).

So I picked up my passport, yesterday Sunday 10th April at Alausa office. The issuing date was actually March 22nd as opposed to the March 8th collection date stated on the print out after capturing. I actually told myself I was going to wait a month after the collection date so as to avoid stories that touch and I'm glad I did. It was worth the wait. Good luck to every other DIYer in the house. Please did you glo with anything for the renewal because someone else replied me that I will need NIN, acknowledgement and passport photographs

For passport renewal, you'll be needing some/all of the following:

1.) NIN Slip (photocopy);
2.) Expired Passport (Original for 'sighting');
3.) Data Page of Expired Passport (photocopy);
4.) Passport Photograph (2 or more copies, in case of necessity);
5.) Payment Receipt (as printed after making your payment online);
6.) Letter to the PCO (Oftentimes, a sample is pasted on the wall for you to copy. Just go along with a pen and a blank sheet of A4 paper);
7.) Data Form (as printed after submitting your application online);
8.) Cardboard File (Colour differs across centres & passport types, so be prepared to buy the designated one at your centre of choice).

i captured in Alausa on the 24th of last month and i picked my slip from the printer like every other person,of course this not my first time of shooting for a passport and 3 out of the 4 time's that i have captured were DIY.

That information is wrong, everything is automated, Ikoyi and Festac passport office is highly corrupt.
You are to pick your enrollment slip on the printer by yourself,no one should have written anything on a piece of paper.

Aieromon is right.

The number on that piece of paper given to you is your enrolment number.

To state the date for collection is usually at the discretion of the capturing officer.

Just give them as much as a month or 2 and go back there to enquire if your passport is printed or not. I hope you don't need it urgently though.

I appreciate your feedback Aieromon, but that paper was white and the number handwritten in pen, with no mention of a collection date.
It doesn't sound like the enrolment slip others have talked about. One guy said his enrolment slip had a date of collection on it, mine didn't, which bothers me.

You applied for passport in Imo State in September 2021 (about 7 months ago).
1. You don't live in Imo State anymore.
2. You also claim you don't have any friend/acquaintance there presently.

My question is, how then did you meet the officer who is demanding additional 20k because the "...the Comptroller General said everyone must pay extra 20k..."?

By inference, I can put that the ONLY PERSON you know in Imo State is that dubious officer at the Passport office. Interesting!

I have a feeling that your passport is ready just as [quote author=iamL post=111591005][/quote]stated earlier, but you can only confirm through a channel other than that officer of yours.

Another suggestion: Contact NIS on Twitter or Facebook, provide your enrolment number and enquire if your passport is ready.

All these suggestions won't cost you a dime, just commitment.
