I do not see what the problem is here. I believe b4 we can really comment on this issue or be biased based on citizenship we should ask some pertinent questions. 1) is this the first anti Nigerian ad in the US? well no, it is an ongoing thing, i mostly claim Ghana heritage because of the heinous fraudulent crimes Nigerians are commiting here and back home. Once you are asked where you come from and you say Nigeria they quickly check for their credit cards and wallet. 2) are the allegations about our notoriety on the internet all fabricated? also no. even me that is a Nigerian get tons of fraud mails from our guys here, the question is are we the only country with access to the internet? 3) Is the Nigerian media, govt, movie industry helping matters at all? Also no. As a matter of fact they are adding gasoline to the fire. The govt. in Nigerian is the worst culprit. Can you imagine a man who keeps feces in his house complaining when he is called a dirty man? I BEG THEY SHOULD NOT WASTE OUR RESOURCES ON ANY YEYE LAWSUIT. Before you know what is happening they will claim they used 2 billion naira to pursue the case.

I really thought initialy that you were just stupid, ignorant and were just bored and was willing to argue for arguement sake. Now i know different. So because my ID reads bidemi12 means i am yoruba. How foolish. I am a 37 year old man from delta state, married to a yoruba woman because i am not clouded by race or tribalism, a US soldier, which means i have seen conflict and war which is why i pity people like you who canvass for it, with two masters degree which means i am well read and well traveled and know what i am talking about. If you are asked now you would say ''i am enlightened and educated''. The basis of the whole argument is if amnesty or throwing money at them is the lasting solution to the whole problems of the niger delta, which any normal person will know is not, except you of course. I hope you are not the kind of graduates we are producing or else we are in more trouble than i thought. There is only one state i know where people can demand for work and not show up and get paid. And the state is Rivers state port harcourt. What is so hard to believe here? that a region where militancy and thugery for whatever reason can make such demands? these are people who are willing to kidnap for money. Have you ever lived or worked there to disprove me first hand? There is a company called great brands Nigeria, which is the biggest distribution company in the country. They have branches all over the country and in every major city, if it is possible you can ask there. Or any major multinational in that area. Their operation is similar to how area boys in Lagos operate where boys go about and demand money for the opportunity to operate businesses or do you claim not to know about that? It is either you cannot read and understand or just willing to argue for arguing sake. Also like i said this was during my time there was in the 90's, obviously they have graduated into militancy, I AM EXPECTING ANOTHER EMOTIONAL AND IRRATIONAL REACTION

Mr beaf obviously missed the point, which is common with our very tribalised and emotional people. The point is whatever reasons that exist for being a militant, , bad government, unfair poilitics and what not, throwing money at them and amnesty is not the solution. When the money is exhausted they will still return to militancy, THAT IS THE POINT

Sometimes i think we are the dumbest country in the world with the worst leaders on the planet. Our leaders have actually considered amnesty as a solution for militancy and to make matters worse are throwing money at them. No wonder we are constantly a laughing of the international community. Can somebody answer me this? what happens when the money that will not be obviously invested runs out? what happens to a man with no constructive skills, who out of the blue is thrown millions at to do when the money runs out? Well let me paint an actual scenario for you. In the 90's i used to work for an advertising firm and part of my job as project supervisor was to travel round the country and run trade and marketing promotions on the streets, in bars, in offices, you name it and we are there. Our favorite city then was portharcourt and all major cities in the south south. It was really a lovely place when it was still known as the garden city. But as the years went by we began noticing social changes that was gradualy becoming alarming. The youths no longer wanted to work, most would organise themselves and go to any company withing their sights and demand that they forcibly employ their people or the consequences would be dire. No problem right? but when these companies actually do cave into their demands the people employed will not show up for work until payday, and you must pay. After collecting their pay, they vanish till the next payday.I can bet that these are the same people who became militants and these are the same people we are giving amnesty to. With cash i might add. They have no history of constructive employment and will go back to their nefarious activities when the money runs out, wait and see.

you people have not seen anything yet. I am a graduate of Public administration from Kwara state polytechnic. At that time P.A was a college diploma, it was not accredited so it was believed we who studied the course would find it difficult getting jobs. I and my fellow course mates were constantly ridiculed by other students from established departments. But alas as fate and chance would have it i spent only 6 months at home after graduation i got a very good job at an advertising firm and i even changed jobs like 6 times since then, as fate would have it again there was one particular chap who used to bug me as well in kwara poly that i even interviewed for a position in one of the companies i worked for. Come and see begging. It used to baffle me that most of my fellow students back then were struggling to get jobs until i started realising that most people are confused about the true reasons we go to college. We forget to to let the institution pass through us but instead pass through the institution. No matter how brilliant you are academicaly or how good you are in craming will not save you in the real world when faced with a panel in an interview room. The reason these guys cheat is that they have their priorities confused. You think because you had an upper or dinstinction it will be smooth sailing, well newsflash, you must defend that degree in the real world. As far as i am concerned let them cheat and get the degree. The way to deal with them is to focus on employers to look for applicative skills in individuals other than paper qualification. I am presently a soldier in the us army, this is the fastest way to get your citinzenship in less than 8 months and also get a good education with stupendous financial benefits. Many Nigeriangraduates from Nigeria here want to join but there is a high school (secondary school) exam called an asvab test you must pass. All of the graduates i have recomended have 10% overall scores, can you imagine? that is ten over one hundred. GOD HELP US.

P.s the new ps3 is out and the advertisers here in the US are ridiculing Nigeria to push the product on TV. it is so embarrasing, you need to see it to understanding it.

There is a saying here in chicago "if you see it say it". We must learn to start voicing our discontent on every issue. When i was growing up, when ever something bad happened to me, be it my fault or not i always blamed myself. Then tried finding a way to make sure it did not happen to me again. Object lesson is we are not the only nation in the world where situations are bad or where fraud is bad but why is it that we are always singled out. We have to realise that we are the root cause of our problems. The propaganda of seeing something good in our country is ficticious and downright evil as far as i am concerned because there is nothing good to see for now. The idea creates a false sense of achievement, security, hope. Will you tell me that you have never heard where people say "well, if e chop nko? at least e perform pass other governors. Make e chop jo, at least e de work". My question is why must he chop at all. If it is bad, it is bad. No b.s.

See what i mean? i had just finished posting the last reply and tried opening my mailbox and there it was on yahoo, '' breaking news, nigerian troops battle militants in the north'' which i am sure is furnished by our online papers. This is crazy.

Also want to add i am not being negative or trying to put down the country. I am only trying to be realistic and do exactly what our newspapers do everyday, which is tell it as it is. Have you the online headlines of SUN and DAILY TRUST? For SUN it is ''HOLY WAR'' and for the DAILY TRUST, well the pictures says it all. You people dont seem to get it, i do not have to put the country down, our leaders and journalist are doing it every single day. You can imagine my suprise to read online that 100 or so people had died just like that. Not from diseases or war or accident, but because some people just want it so. And i bet you the kingpins of the mayhem will never be brought to justice. And most likely the motive will be political. So lest we forget, what i have said here is being said everyday by newspapers in the country. And a lot of people are reading it cause why? IT IS ONLINE

Great again? see my point? Nigeria was never great. Give me true instances where we were, and are truly great. We were and are truly great when it comes to topics and headlines that are negative. We fool ourselves, ''the biggest democracy in africa, the most populous black nation in the world, the richest country in the world in terms of resources'', blah blah blah. The populace do not even have basic electricity which is our right as far as i am concerned. since the day i arrived here i have not witnessed power failure or lack of water or slow internet of armed robbery or shortage of fuel etc. It is not as if i like living here but i have no choice 'cause i want a better life for my wife and kids. The society is already rubbing off on my kids. The eldest who is in school has already started correcting me when i blow rubbish grammar. This happens when children grow up in an atmosphere of solid education. Even as a soldier the welfare and security of one is the welfare of all. My personal security is so well taken care of it is unbelievable. whenever i read naija papers online i nearly weep. Unheard of things still exist in our country. Political leaders bickering and crudely in the open, no electricity, bad roads, lack of security, and now i read the absurd. Giving 20k to militants who accept amnesty. To animals who are used to millions weekly. WELL GOOD LUCK ON THAT

You all are complaining that the businesses in the western world are refusing credit cards from naija abi? well let me ask a question? you as Nigerians will you accept credit cards from Nigeria? If anyone answers yes then you will have confirmed our biggest problem, SELF DENIAL. We refuse to admit that things are so f@#$%ked up in our country, that only a fool will feel comfortable around us. when i first came to yankee i got a job in a marketing firm. my clients in the field used to ask me where i was from 'cause of my accent. Once i said Naija they always turn cold and i lose their business. Dem no tell me twice b4 i started claiming Ghana heritage. Even somalian people who have a history of supporting Alqaida get more respect over here.
Change must come from the inside. Stop complaining about how they treat us abroad when our leaders do worse to us back home.

shows how much we need enlightenment in Nigeria. Only a fool will come to yankee and not join the army immediately if he is within the age limit. Do you know what most immigrants do here when they come? well let me itemise for you,

1) wait 2 months for green card and social security
2) start applying for jobs, e.g security, cna, warehouse worker, waiter, and the very popular taxi driving, which is very lucrative.
3) Go to Nigeria in 2 years and do local champion and flex for like a month.
4) continue your job until 5 years are up then apply for citizenship. meanwhile they have not aqcuired any skill or education whatsoever.

while in the army,

1) you choose the job you will do in the army. It does not matter what job, they will train you. if you score over 50 in the asvab exam you are guaranteed almost any job e.g engineer. aircraft engineer, mechanic, pastor, communications, computer networking etc. you name they will train you. And i'm talking masters degree level training. If na fight you wan fight na you go choose. Na only marine no de choose. once you sign up for the marines you are guaranteed war front. thats why there are no Nigerians in the marines.

2) you get almost 120k for education, and that is in dollars. Which means apart from the training they will give you, they will still send you to college.

3) Immediately you sign up for the army, you start processing your citizenship and get it in 8 months instead of 5 years.

4) people in the army are praying that they send them to Iraq or afganistan. Do you know how much you get in bonus everyday for being there?

5) in the army or when you leave the army you are guaranteed respect till the day you die. When looking for a job they will pick you first before any other person born there or not. Any form you are filling for a job they will ask if you have ever served.

6) God forbid I die when in the army, be it in Iraq or crossing the street in texas my family will get 450k…and that is in dollars. In Nigeria wetin you go get?

So do I need to elaborate more? After my service I will still go back to Nigeria and get the best jobs in town cause of the education I got in the army. Every thing na planning. The reason why most people from Nigeria bad mouth the army is because they cannot pass the entrance exam. Na hard exm. Almost all the people I recommended did not get more the 10 over 100….can you imagine?
