@honeyguy   well i must say that your arguement is well composed and somewhat logical but in some areas you made conjectures based on hearsay and not from direct experience. First of all i believe the Nigerians that are complaining are very much justified in doing so. There is no reason why we should be living in abject povery as we are right now. we are too blessed for that. 2) Granted America is owing money but at least we know what they are using the money for. Can you say the same of our county? I have lived here for years and i have never witnessed a minute of power failure. 3)Why in the first place will i want to live in another man's land if not for a better life for me and my family? And why wont i when the leadership in my country is stiffling me? 4)Apart from the value of the currency which is a goldmine back home, America represents the opportunity to become whatever and whoever you want to be. The whole society is structured in such a way that whether you like it or not you are encouraged to advance yourself to succeed. can you say the same about our beloved country? The credit system you mentioned applies only to Americans because that is their culture. I am a Nigerian with a background which taught me to save up for whatever i need. so why should i take credit? why should i buy a house when i can build one back home? why should i buy a new car when i can buy one cheaper at an auction. My point being that because a Nigerian lives abroad does not mean he forgets where he comes from. 5) the reason why people come here and achieve nothing is simply because America is not a lawless country. People come here with visitor visa and decide to stay. Big mistake. with that kind of visa nobody will employ you or rent an apartment for you or allow you to open an account. Ask anyone who has papers if he has achieved anything and see the answer you will get. Abject lesson, do not come here if you do not have the correct papers. And like i said before why would i want to come here in the first place if not for the situation back home. The investors you mentioned are business men. If we as Nigerians cannot see our potential does not mean others cant. When they make their profits do you think they keep it in our banks? of course not. They take it back home. No one in their right minds will ever compare Nigeria to a place like Ghana not to talk of America. God punish all those leaders who have put us in this situatuon

@Honsule I hate to say this but it is either you are the daftest Nigerian in Nigeria or you are just waking up from a coma and do not know what has been happening these past 49 years. What exactly is being blown out of proportion? is it the crime rate or the corrupt government or the school system? I can go on and on. And for your information we are speaking up, that is what we are doing about it. All revolutions are started with words of discontent. Keep quiet and the tyrany will persist. And why should we not compare ourselves to other countries that have and are getting it right? should we compare ourselves to the one's that are getting it wrong? And what do you mean that Nigeria is just unique? are you saying we are unique in our ways of perpetuating insane ways of life and it is okay? Please dont come and confuse us here. Are you a politician or are you one of those lucky few fellows back home who have it good and want the status quo to continue? My guy, take time.

It seems most do not understand. As the economic and FINANCIAL crimes commission they have the powers to investigate all manner of financial related matters both in the public and private sector. Nothing or nobody is sacred. Good or bad that is the power they weild and the power we "gave" them. maybe next time we would require our leaders in the future to give us in detail where institutions like the efcc's jurisdiction begins and ends. In this case Arik was founded under the shroud of fraud and as far as i am concerned they are fair game.

Anybody that believes that spanking is not good should come and live in yankee and be dismayed. If you shove a child, not to talk of spanking then you are looking at jail time. The problem is kids now rule and the parents are powerless to do anything about it. And it is not as if the lack of spanking is helping them in their iq as well. There are more dullards being produced everyday. that is why Obama is proposing making them stay longer in school and cutting holidays short in the future. Omo, come and see where pikin de talk to agbalagba, meeeen, fear go catch you. I am not saying one should turn into a flogging machine but at least pikin must fear you first as a parent then respect you later.

@meldrick   i seriously doubt you are aware or understand what we are talking about? it is almost like when idris was made a representative of the youth of naija to some big event by popular demand, (it's been a while i forget the exact event) it was hailed as a wonderful thing until edris went into meltdown. @ wirinet    My guy, we've got to start from somewhere. Apart from power, the second biggest headache is security. Of what use is ammassing wealth when you will be gunned down b4 you have the opportunity of enjoyin it? or, of what use is investing in a place where you are not safe going to work. Even if i provide ammenities, somebody somewhere will vandalize it. in yankee i have come to find out that one of the ways people are kept in check is the use of cctv camera all over the place and without it they too would run amock. each and every street there is one and you would think twice before doing anything crazy. But it is not just putting up cctv's. you must tie the information gotten from it to other sources, like the police, your drivers license, face recognition softwares, finger print database, bank account etc. obviously he still has a long way to go but he needs encouragement. Rome, as in this case security, was not built in a day.

@Anonimi I would not go as far as saying he is a thief, we need proof of that. But at the very least he is very incompetent. There is plenty of proof of that.

personaly it think fashola under normal circumstances will make a better president, but as you know in Nigeria, if wishes were horses beggars would buy the latest camry 2009. So "yawn", i think "yawn again", the only thing we can "snoooooore",  Please "yaaaaaawn" wake me up when things are back to normal in Nigeria.
