So according to this guy Boko Haram was meant to release their latest video featuring leader today but the Nigerian intelligence services have countered the move somehow by blocking their GSM and internet comms, Nem is that possible ? What kind of equipment would they require for this ?
The Nigerian Intelligence services have made tremendous progress in the war against terror thru digital security platforms. Shortly aftr I tweeted abt #Shekau's video release, sources said all their communicatns systems have been jammed & they r unable to upload to any platforms.

And abeg add pictures of drone being tethered to snipers and mortar teams that cannot be used for base defense.

I don't know how drone tethered to a sniper in Jilli base would have been more effective than a tethered drone with birds eye view of the base and its environs.

Our drones do not carry rocket pods.

Rockets increases the firing cone radius, which translates to larger kill diameter.
The insurgents where in a group; the drone has been there undetected. A single missile shot would send all of them to hell before they know what hit them.

PRESS RELEASE
NIGERIAN AIR FORCE FIGHTER AIRCRAFT NEUTRALIZES BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS AT BULAGALAYE, KWAKWA

1. The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, on 15 July 2018, successfully neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) at BULAGALAYE and KWAKWA, both in BORNO State. The successful air strikes on both locations were a result of efforts to trail and neutralize fleeing terrorists after Nigerian Army (NA) troops had repelled the attack on their location around BAMA. Upon receiving reports of the attack, the ATF scrambled an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform and the Alpha Jet aircraft to locate the fleeing terrorists. Consequently, the insurgents, who were seen assembled at a staging area in BULAGALAYE, began to disperse upon sighting the attack platforms. However, the NAF fighter aircraft acquired and attacked the fleeing insurgents with bombs and rockets. As a result of the air strikes, the BHTs were neutralized while their vehicles and weapons were destroyed, leading to a thick cloud of black smoke.

2. Intelligence reports later revealed that a smaller bunch of the BHTs had re-assembled in a settlement known as KWAKWA. Accordingly, the ATF conducted a wave of strikes on the location. Overhead KWAKWA, the ISR platform successfully identified the terrorists’ location and vectored the attack platforms to the target area, which was attacked with bombs and rockets. Some of the terrorists were seen fleeing towards a nearby settlement and further attacked with rockets and then neutralized. The Air Task Force will continue to conduct missions in support of the efforts of our troops in the counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast while also providing Close Air Support when requested to do so.

Of what difference will any PMC make except they come with their own weapons. You still don't understand. Troops are not lacking skills or less battle capable but some units lack that offensive capability.

Except the PMC is coming with their own air platforms, weapons, IFV etc there's nothing they can do. You're outgunned and out numbered.

Mind you this won't be the same in case of an external aggression by a neighboring country. Coin warfare is different from defending your territorial integrity.

You need to understand that some things are politically motivated. We went to The Gambia prepared, deployed gun trucks, APC and new weapons were given out.

We performed RECON and aerial coverage on our troops location. This is the same thing any PMC will do if they come here. They have only few things to look after and Carter for.

Even if the barrack had T72s stationed there, it would have been a bad thing.

Here's Boko Haram's tactics.
1) Fast and rapid deployment of troops
2) Fast mobility
3) Spread out.
4) Long range weapons and sporadic shooting.
5) Come in large numbers.

Now let us examine this on 700 soldiers.
1) Artillery comes in consecutively..
Action: Everyone takes cover.
2) Boko Haram combines AA, howitzer etc in multiple directions.
Action: Soldiers trying to figure out the best way to repel the attack while manning defensive position and gun trucks moving into position.
Reaction : Artillery lands on troops vehicle since the guns and projectiles are being fired in multiple direction. You start taking casualty. After about 10 minutes, suppressive fire wasn't working and bht damage radius starts increasing.

Available options.

Deploy Mortars very fast to prevent them from advancing. Keep firing IFV, rockets on bht position ( we field rockets deployed on light skinned but not widely used.)

You can only match them with similar fire power and not soldiers with riffles.
God bless you for these simple yet analytic explanation. wink

Mr Doziex, you are back to pebbling this PMC nonsense. You really need to quit and get over it.

I don't even know why people on here are freaking out over a single base attack, i agree alot needs to be done and tactics changed, but do we honestly think BH are armed with forks and spoons?

In conflict, an active conflict like we have in the NE, it is not unheard of that the enemy can also score victories.

The base was clearly over-whelmed by the attack by the insurgents.
Abii now.... grin

Such is the nature of COIN; It doesn't mean we are not winning these war. Even if the pace is gradual, slow and steady wins the game.
