No wonder MAMJAMA has been missing for the past few days, I guess he's currently busy helping Ehindero pack up all his items out of the IG’s residence! |
FG orders Ehindero to vacate IG’s residence Efforts by former Inspector-General of Police, Mr Sunday Gabriel Ehindero to retain the official quarters of the IGP, which he bought while still in service, suffered a setback on Monday, when the Federal Government ordered him to pack out of the residence with immediate effect. The house at the Maitama area of Abuja was reported to have been sold to Ehindero for about N120 million and the former police boss was said to have built additional structure with swimming pool inside the premises that reportedly has security gadgets worth over N20 million. The first indication of trouble over the house came when the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro told journalists during a press conference in Abuja that whenever he is ready to move into the quarters, Ehindero must pack out. The controversial white mansion is on Katsina Ala Crescent, adjacent to the Kenyan High Commission in the Federal Capital Territory. Daily Sun learnt that after he bought the house, Ehindero demolished a structure close to the access gate, which served as a camp for security details and built a chapel in its place. The letter ordering Ehindero out of the house, said to have been signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, noted that the sale of the IGP quarters was irregular and unreasonable. Meanwhile, Ehindero is still being investigated over a multi-million naira scam at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. And the investigators were said to have arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Police, identified as Jelili Ogundeyi, a pay officer who was accused of moving about N354 million for his boss. He was arrested in Lagos and kept in detention in Abuja. http://www.ngex.com/cgi-bin/frame/frameit2.plx?link="http://www.sunnewsonline.com/" |
@ McKren: What sort of judgment and justice can be so selective that one man would die in prison while others, who stole more than him, are walking free and even thinking of becoming ministers?I'm not a fan, but I think he has a point. Is this an effective method of doing things? |
Asari-Dokubo blasts EFCC Ijaw freedom fighter, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakar Dokubo- Asari, has launched a blistering attack on the anti-corruption campaign of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the agency of selective operation. He also gave an indication that he would drag former President Olusegun Obasanjo to court to account for money the country earned in eight years. Speaking in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, Dokubo said the case of Chief Diepreye Alamieyseigha of Bayelsa State, has exposed the deceit in the anti-corruption war as former governors, who misapproprated more than the ex-Bayelsa governor are free. He regretted that the Ijaw sacrificed Alamieyeseigha and allowed him to be disgraced. His words: "All of you were here when our brother, Alamieyeseigha, was governor of this state. I was not on friendly terms with him, but immediately he was arrested, I became one of his crusaders even in prison, because the cause is an Ijaw cause. The disgrace of one Ijaw man is the disgrace of Ijaw people. The pain of one Ijaw man is pain to all Ijaw people. We can quarrel and fight at home but not outside because we are an endangered people. The Ijaw man is an endangered man. Alamieyeseigha is the only one in prison. All those who were impeached went to court and they were returned to their government houses. "Today, they are free and being patted on the back to return the property they had stolen without accounting for these property. What sort of judgment and justice can be so selective that one man would die in prison while others, who stole more than him, are walking free and even thinking of becoming ministers? "Ijaw people were disgraced that Alamieyeseigha stole money when people who stole more than him are walking free. We will resist and must resist this evil." On his declared war against former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo said there was no going back as he is prepared to drag Obasanjo to court to account for all the money his administration got in his eight year rule. He explained that Obasanjo, during his rule, created wealth for young Yoruba men with the money and resources of the Niger Delta and shut out people of the region. Hear him: "I am sorry to say this because I would not want to compromise the Bayelsa State government’s position, but I am not a PDP member, so I must say this. Obasanjo created wealth for people with our own money. Obasanjo created wealth for five young Yoruba men. I am older than most of them. If they have access to those resources, I see no reason at 43 years old I cannot, because in my family land, there are oil wells. I Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo- Asari am taking Gen Olusegun Obasanjo to court to account for every kobo he received in his eight years rule. We are taking the fight to them. That is the truth of the matter." He also sounded a note of warning to militants operating in the region, noting that they should not play into the hands of the enemies who are looking for ways to disgrace Vice President Goodluck Jonathan from his current position. "Today, I believe Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, the vice president of the Nigerian state, should be given a chance. Though I don’t believe in the Nigerian state as I have not accepted to be a Nigerian, majority of Ijaw believe in Jonathan and we will give him a chance. We will encourage Ijaw people to give him a chance. I have not been paid to say this. The previous government offered all sort of things to compromise the struggle and jettison it, but I refused. So it is not what this government would give me that would be better. I chose to remain in prison for one year and 10 months. I want to say as Ijaw people if we do not give Goodluck Jonathan a chance we would regret it, because our enemies would exploit our refusal to give him a support to disgrace him from this government and we would not like another Ijaw man to be disgraced. "For me, we allowed Alamieyeseigha to be disgraced. We should not allow Jonathan to be disgraced because if Jonathan is disgraced we are all disgraced." Dokubo, who said he has temporarily shelved his plans to travel for medical attention because of a scheduled meeting with major militant groups, said they had agreed to meet with him, stressing, however, "we are not fighting or cleaning up the mess created by government." http://odili.net/news/source/2007/jun/26/814.html |
Nigeria must not be divided. We are all one people. Let's stay together, work together and make things right together in Nigeria, our lovely nation. One love! |
By EFCC's Ribadu, I am referring to Nuhu Ribadu, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) helmsman. The EFCC is the anti-graft body set up by erstwhile Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo to tackle graft but it ended up as his toy, tackling his enemies - imaginary and otherwise and championing his third term agenda by remote. For anything that has to do with President Obasanjo always had a sinister agenda. The rest as they say is history.http://nigeriaworld.com/articles/2007/jun/143.html |
@McKren: Believe it or not, I do understand your sincere love for Ribadu, infact I share the same feeling. But if we truly crave for a developed Nigeria, we should also be sincere enough to identify inefficiency, inconsistency, failure and ineffectiveness. Ribadu had the fullest authority to successfully carry out his duties accordingly, but he did not, he allowed people to use him as political police dog. Infact Ribadu has a lot to do with the crisis in Oyo State, Anambra and he is the main reason why none of these governors has been arrested as yet. If he had done his job accordingly, this new administration wouldn't have been hesitant to arrest these thieves, But Mr Ribadu and OBJ did such a sludgy unprofessional job that it will be irrational for Yar'Adua to follow the same steps. And Kudos to Yar'Adua for taking his time. It just doesn't make any sense to follow pure failure. Hence I totally blame Ribadu, not even OBJ. (but I still love him and I continue to admire his pure determination and I also wish him well) |
See? One of typical Nigerian ways "we love to speculate on nothing" What does Abacha's family got to do with this matter? Ridiculous and unbelievable. @ DisGuy, please go somewhere |
Posted by McKren: I know why you are celebratingI'm happy that you do. There is only one king (God) and he has given us the permission to celebrate. There is nothing anyone could do about it, the celebration continues forever and ever. Sorry! |
I still think we should all ignore all these negative side attractions. We should stay focused, work together as one and move our nation forward. Pointing finger and talking down at one another is never constructive. And FYI: this is one of the reasons why old schools continue to come back over and over to take us for a ride. The new generations are too busy talking down at one another and do not have wisdom to work together as one. We should stop this nonsense immediately! |
lol |
I don't know why you guys are still talking about EFCC. The organization is finished. No one knows the current status of Ribadu with the federal government, no one even knows whether EFCC still exist in Nigeria or not. I've stated this in the past, a one man show organization usually doesn't last. Instead of one man show operation, EFCC as an organization should have been structured as a team concept, this way even if Ridabu is condemned of anything, the organization can still move on without any hesitation. EFCC has reached the dead end, all because of OBJ and RIBADU. A typical Nigerian way of thinking and operation. No one thinks about the future or perfection. It all about wuruwuru, magomago and pafpaf. it is a shame, sad and total lack of direction! Please, let's talk about something constructive. EFCC is a dead state of mind. |
When too many are too corrupt for too long (ttt). One has to be very careful and think systematically before taking an action. I can't blame Yar'Adua for his actions so far in regards to arresting corrupt governors. This is a very bright man, he thinks deeply before making decisions; unlike OBJ who usually thinks after taking an action. A great leader must profoundly evaluate all available solutions before taking an action; you just don't jump because they say so. Sooner or later, together we are all going to witness and appreciate President Yar'Adua's strategy in resolving this issue. Just wait and see, time will tell. |
Here we go again, pointing finger. No one wants to take responsibility; typical Nigerian style. How long is this stupidity will continue? Who cares where the problem is coming from? Nigerians will spend 20 years pointing fingers and rejecting the responsibility, while the other countries are busy discovering wonders and implementing better ways to develop their nations. Enough of this nonsense. It's time to wake up, join hands and find a way to make things right in Nigeria. We are one country. |
The problem here is the fact that the Southerners refuse to see the light. Believe me folks, it's not about DUKE. Yes, he's a little bit smarter than the rest, by stealing the minimum and by also producing couple of things for his people just to polish up his image; other than that, there is nothing special about the man. He's a member of the Nigerian "gang star". |
FYI: this is Yar'Adua's new policy They are all thieves and if you can not punish all, there is no need to punish any! |
Posted by Beline: if all the 35 govs have vision just like Duke and steal just like him wouldn't it be better? There is no need to condone stupidity. There is no such thing as Small Thief. Thief is thief. No need to settle for less, we must embrace perfection for our country to move forward effectively, efficiently and unitedly. They are all thieves and if you can not punish all, there is no need to punish any! Let us modify the system, the constitution and develop better strategies to disable corruption forever. |
Posted by McKren: That nobody means well afterall and so there is no way out.Definitely, there is way out. My man, what we are currently going through in Nigeria is also taking place in many other countries around the world, the ranges might be different, but it's not uncommon. It is part of life. This country is full of people with different background, mentality and culture. Hence it is impossible to control everybody. The only thing that could be controlled is the system. And there are many strategies that can be implemented to control the system effectively and efficiently. First, we must understand our problems (the land is corrupt and the culture is dirty), address the problems, discover solutions to our problems, test the solutions, select the best solutions, execute the solutions, and evaluate the result. But in Nigeria we don't do things this way. Short cuts, mago mago, finger pointing, wururu and wayo are the things we embrace. And this is why our country is dieing |
Clean Nigerian politician. Wake up! There is no such thing. |
Now you guys are getting it. The land is corrupt and the culture is dirty. Prevention is better than cure! They are all corrupt and this is why our system and policies must be modified to stop this craziness. Too many are too corrupt for too long. This is also another reason why arresting just the governors is not the answer. If the river is dirty, what do you think about the fish from the same water? |
@bankole01 You need to get a job and get a life. What is the big deal? |
Any latest on Ehindero's corruption allegation? |
Please, please guys, let us all calm down for a moment. Nobody is jealous of Ghana, there is no need for us to disown our country and absolutely no need to give away our crown. Nigeria remains the Giant of Africa. Let's wish Ghanaians well and pray for our country, Nigeria to ascend back to the top as soon as possible. There is light at the end of the tunnel; there is no need to panic. One love! |
This is a great strategy to send message to the new administration that enough is enough, the strike must continue. If Nigerians can continue with this strike for the next 10 days, their messages will be heard, but the big questions are: Can Nigerians hang in there? Who is truly benefiting from this strike? And what is next? |
@ Mr.Mckren: There is a big difference between being against Antigraft and being against selectivity. I just don't dance to any music just because the beat sounds good, I listen to the lyrics first before dancing. |
@McKren: The best you could do is punish everybody, including your lovely wife or don't touch anybody, but reintroduce better strategy to prevent the continuation of such behavior. Being selective is disgusting, unfair and a quick way to destroy the entire nation |
@McKren You have 2 children (Peter and Paul) who also happen to be thieves. You are not too happy to discover this behavior and you're determined to solve this problem; but instead of you to punish both children, you continue to only punish Peter vigorously while Paul walks around freely, just because your wife loves Paul. Is this an effective way of resolving problem? Is this fair to peter? You can continue to punish Peter, you can even go ahead and kill Peter, there will never be peace in your house and the problem remains thesame as long as Paul continues to walk around freely and unpunished. And by the way, your wife also happens to steal from time to time. Who is really to blame? Who is really corrupt? It is clear that as much as you want to be productive and make the problem to go away, your lovely wife, an obstacle sees things differently and will not allow you to operate effectively and efficiently. You= EFCC Peter= Arrested or probed corrupt leaders eg Alams, Atiku etc Paul= Free corrupted leaders eg Bode George, Chris Uba etc Your Wife= OBJ Your House= Nigeria |
@McKren: I know that you are very happy to read my previous post, you've been asking for it because you want people to still identify me as IBB supporter. And believe me, I truly don't care what anyone thinks of me. I know my identity as a proud dedicated honest Nigerian, who wants nothing but the best for Nigeria as a country. Hence, go ahead and have fun with the rest, you don't have to welcome my sincerity, but I'm pretty sure that some will see my pure commitment to see Nigeria ascend back to the top. Supporting IBB signifies pure politics and democracy allows it. One has to deeply think systematically to understand why I've supported IBB during the 2007 presidential campaign. If you pay attention to all my post, you will realize that I was one of the first to give EFCC 100% support, but this support quickly dissolved as soon as EFCC indirectly got involved in politics. EFCC as a solid and incredible organization should have stirred away from politics by not being selective during their operations, by embracing perfection during their operations and by respecting Nigerian citizens and the constitution of Nigeria. My man, EFCC did not follow any of these guardlines and I'm very sorry that I refused to follow failure. I just don't give KUDOS to half job well done. Enough said! One love. |
I was told by a reliable source that Tinubu was definitely going to eat beans (kirikiri), but I'm not sure why this man is still working around free and flexing muscle. At this time, a smart man will lay low till things get settled; hence @ champredd, you might be right, this man seems to be asking for it. And sooner or later, he's going to get it. |
Yes, it has been confirmed, there is oil in Ghana. It is a wonderful news, it's time for our leaders to wake up quick and start utilizing our resource effectively to develop the nation or else the crown of the Giant of Africa will be given to another country. @all Yes, at this time Ghana has 600 Million Barrels while Nigeria has 35 Billion Barrels, but keep in mind that the quantity doesn't matter if we, Nigerians have nothing to show for our billion barrels. As I'm very happy for our African brothers, I also think that we should also be very careful on how to react to this latest news. One could never tell how this news will affect our already crumbled economy, today and also in future. |
Celebrations in Accra as Ghana strikes oil, donors pledge $6b fund IT was celebration galore in Accra as Ghana joined the league of oil producing nations, as the black gold was struck 40 miles to sea in West Cape. An elated President John Kuffour described the discovery as significant to the nation's economy. Already, the country's development partners have pledged to support the country with $1.4 billion over the next four years, for its development projects Kosmos Energy, an American oil exploration company, made the discovery, which is said to be of high quality and in commercial quantities came 14 months after exploration. ``We are pleased that the first well in our multi-well West Africa exploration drilling program is a success,'' said James Mussleman, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, said. Mussleman who called on President Kuffour on Monday to announce the discovery did not give figures of the exact quantity in the reserve. the oil was discovered after drilling 312 feet into the seabed. Mussleman said Kosmos, which had signed a seven-year exploration agreement with Ghana, was looking forward to working with the government to develop the resource. He said he was aware of the high expectations of Ghanaians and asked that they should give the company time to carry out the operation. Kuffour said the news should embolden and encourage all Ghanaians to be optimistic about the country's future as the prospects were bright. He urged Kosmos, which has also found oil in Equatorial Guinea, to quickly develop Ghana's reserve, this, he said, would enable the country, which has been grappling with energy problems, to become an oil producer. ``We pray that the company would be successful so that our country would not become a beggar in the energy sector anymore,'' he added. The government, he noted, has since 2001 been making efforts to address the problem of energy and that consistent with this vision, the Board of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), which was then a general purpose entity was reconstituted. The President said the discovery was a vindication of the good decision of ensuring that the GNPC concentrated on its core business operation. Energy Minister Kofi Adda said five companies signed petroleum agreements with the country last year, and were currently engaged in various levels of exploration activities, some in deep waters. The $5.7 billion development support from development partners would be between 2007 and 2010, according to a communiquŽ issued yesterday at the end of the two-day Ghana Consultative Group Annual Partnership Meeting in Accra. The meeting brought together representatives of the development partners, Ministers, Members of Parliament, private sector and civil society. The communiquŽ said the government had confirmed that spending on the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy Two (GPRS II) priority programs from domestic sources was expected to reach at least $5.8 billion over the next three years. The development partners expressed satisfaction with Ghana's achievements in the area of poverty reduction and hoped that the coming years would see even stronger progress in meeting the aspirations of the people. The partners, however, noted that significant challenges remained if Ghana was to consolidate its gains and further accelerate economic growth. The Group would convene again in June 2008 to take stock of the evolving Ghana Partnership, it added. President Kufuor challenged the development partners to do more to support the efforts towards attracting viable business investment inflow to boost the country's economy. He noted that it was through a high inflow of profit-driven business investments that more job openings could be created to reduce poverty among the people. Participants at the two-day meeting included representatives of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), EU and other development partners, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), the private sector and civil society. http://odili.net/news/source/2007/jun/21/22.html |
@BIGBOYLARY: It is absolutely unreasonable to disable our resource and sell our only pride just because few corrupt Nigerian knuckle heads have mismanaged the resource. We should think positively and think about tomorrow. The few bad fruits will be gone one day. We should all be proud of our resource, stay together and discover a better way to make thing right in Nigeria. This is oil that we are talking about, it isn't Crack or nuclear weapon. |
