We must first be organized as a nation before we can implement effective tax law. |
@ colonial: Very deep indeed. Aunty Angel101 has been disappeared since this morning. May be she's busy packing up her things to head straight to Abuja to lead the crusade? Uncle Donzman is still trying to get his 2 weeks vacation for the year to follow aunty Angel's foot step While boy boy ToToChoper is still running around confused. |
First, Nigerians do not mind to work 300 hours a week for a better standard of living, but there is no enough jobs and government doesn't care. And no one is comparing United States to Nigeria; trust me, I'm not that stupid. Now what is better standard of living? 1. Easy access to better medical 2. Constant water supply 3. Constant electric power supply 4. Better security for the citizens 5. Better roads 6. Better airplanes and airports 7. More jobs for the citizens 8. Better education and so on. @MAMAJAMA: let me ask you a question: In Chicago, whenever you finish using the toilet and flush, have you ever thought of where the shit goes? I'm sure you've never; and that is an example of a better standard of living Do I need to say more? |
The bottom line is "government or leaders must do their part to improve standard of living in Nigeria". What sense does it make if you live up to 101 years, but struggle to eat 2 meals a day since the age of 15 years old? I call it dead people walking around for a very long time. |
@Iyke-D: Excellent answer. It feels nice and very refreshing to have many many sensible Nigerians around. Waste no time folks, we can contribute enormously toward moving this nation forward. Believe me, we have more than enough. |
If that is the case, then this new administration should work on improving the result of this statistics. Life supposed to start at 50 not end at 44. |
Dude, go somewhere! I'm not down for that today. |
Very very sad news. She was just too young to go like that; may her soul rest in peace. |
Yar'Adua has already been challenged and he's ready to produce. I'm confident that this new administration will surprise many by moving our lovely country back at the top. Now, it will be nice if these foreigners could just stop crying and allow us to witness wonder. |
Posted by Donzman When will the rigging stop if we keep accepting in the name of peace?@Donzman: You keep on going over and over the same question like you can't read. Your question has been answered several times. Just in case you've missed it, here we go again: The rigging will stop as soon as we peacefully rise up together and identify, implement and execute an effective strategy to empower the election process and educate the voters through out the country. And we, the new generation could utilize this latest failure as a lesson and send message to the old school that enough is enough, we must change direction. And this could be done sensibly, professionally, peacefully and finally, at the right time. Fighting it out at the court of law, at this time will be a mere waste of time. The entity that released the election result and the entity that you guys will be facing at the court are identical twins; hence save your time and energy, Yar'Adua will be Nigerian president for the next 4 years. The best we could do is preparing for 2011 and makesure that the nightmare doesn't happen again. May God bless Nigeria |
I think the hatred for OBJ is still lingering in our soul; and it's time to let go this animosity and effectively utilize our time and energy in identifying better strategies to move our country forward. @angel101: 1. Do you truly understand the real meaning of violence and what repercussion of violence could do to a country? If you do, please post your annotation and list the anticipations of your suggestion. 2. Do you understand that the outcome of violence is never predictable? 3. Did you vote and where do you currently reside? 4. Do you have any plans to participate or lead this violence crusade you're suggesting? Sweetheart, in order for me to profoundly understand your state of mind and effectively respond to your incredible suggestion, please answer these questions. Because it is very unusual to discover a sister running around promoting violence I look forward to reading your next post. Thanks. |
First, respect to Prof Chinua Achebe; I love him and he's one of my favorite Nigerians. Nigerians' abroad election rejection doesn't count; It makes no sense to me for these folks to be talking rubbish far away from home. I call this talk, talking big with absolutely no action. These people didn't even vote If you're upset and you have problem with the election like the rest of us, then you should come back home and do something about it. Just don't sit down in your fat living room in-front of your Dell PC, you need to come back home and lead this election rejection crusade; then I will be deeply overwhelmed with your sincere patriotism. Till then, give me a break! |
Let's hope and pray that no one pays with his or her life. It will be successful. |
@Has: Thank you very much, I think you got it. Our people do not profoundly understand Leadership Roles; and our leaders, on the other hand are not helping either. Everybody wants to be a leader, but no one has the true stamina, knowledge and solid mental state of mind to effectively perform as one. One of our major problems in Nigeria Just because you're the oldest individual in the village doesn't mean you're a leader. It is much more bigger than that. |
Exactly, you should be able to easily relate to what I'm referring to; only God knows what you've heard or seen during your upbringing as a child, for you to************ ********** ######### #########. |
Moreover, this kind of statement could also create animosity between Atiku's supporters and Yar'Adua's administration supporters; and this is far from what we want for our country. We do not want to use OBJ and Atiku's admin as a bench-mark to judge this new administration. We want a new beginning for the Nigerians and Nigeria. No baggage from the past is allowed. Please, forget these folks (OBJ and Atiku) and let's move forward. |
Amen; as long as Yar'Adua never be like OBJ. I still think professionally and as a leader, that statement shouldn't have been stated by OBJ. This is not OTA farm that we are managing, this is a country; we must watch what we say and know how to comport ourselves with dignity as a leader. The kids, the future of tomorrow are watching. No disrespect to the young sisters, but the fight between OBJ and Atiku reminds me of a fight between 2 girls. Let's consider the whole mess as a dream we never want to remember. |
Posted by Mckren: Interesting read, but lacks just one thing a credible suggestion with a clear milestone.I've decided to close this topic and move on, but after reading what the main Otunba of Nairaland himself (Mckren) has posted, I didn't have any other choice but to warm up and start swinging again. 1st. @Mckren: you can't help yourself but to exhibit your level of farsightedness, which is a very good thing. You've touched every single part of this topic with this incredible post. 2nd. @adconline: what are you talking about? Wakeup, brother! Finally, I'm confident that if my suggestion is not considered, Nigeria as a country will be set back once again; and many innocent citizens will suffer and die for absolutely nothing. Enough is enough, OBJ and Atiku have done enough to damage our image and divide the country. And we've learned a lot from this experience. I see another great opportunity for us to reunite and move forward as one. Out of all the candidates, the most competent man has been selected. Let's move on and work very hard together to empower the election process, educate the voters, upgrade the standard of living and improve the image of our country. Don't you guys notice that this election mess has created another obstacle to move forward and start arresting all these corrupt governors? Our focus once again has been shifted by political propaganda. Have you thought of this election mess as being another strategy planted by the thieves to deflect attention from them, this way they have more time to design their exit scheme? Don't be a fool or a figurehead or a follower; use your own mind effectively. |
Afterall, you're not a bad guy and someone has to be sensible. You do have a bright point and I'm ready to welcome your recommendation as long as violence is not going to be tolerated or promoted by the political thugs. It frightens me when innocent citizens of Nigeria pay with their lives for nothing, while the big wigs continue to live their lives to the fullest. As long as we do not get carried away and forget all about other important factors that keep our country and our people surviving from day to day. And finally, as long as your recommendation doesn't prolong the incumbency of OBJ's administration. Why not? Please, bring it on. Hey Donzman, for the past 2 days we've gone through it all, there is absolutely nothing left to say; but the good part of our disagreement is the fact that our love and affection for our great nation remain unaltered. Sharing ideas and knowledge together as one is the only answer and effective way for us, the new Nigerian generation to move our country forward and force the old school to permanently retire. It is time for all of us to reunite, work together, respect one another and start implementing better strategies to improve and empower the security and economy standard of our country. Regardless of which part of the country we come from or what type of background we possess, we must learn to embrace, encourage, respect and support one another. If you think that fighting it out at the court of law is a better solution, I will welcome it, but remember all my concerns and reasons for my recommendation. Let's hope for the best. I'm sure that we will revisit this topic again in future. One love! |
As much as I was vigorously against EFCC selective operations, I still think Ribadu is an incredible Nigerian, who is determined to see our nation to rise up once again. And now that OBJ is leaving, I have confidence that Ribadu will be a complete asset to our great country. I say, keep him around. |
Govs, others plot Ribadu’s ouster from govt - Launch media war against him PLANS are afoot to edge out the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, from the corridors of power, Sunday Tribune can report. According to investigations, a cabal, which comprise notable state governors and some key presidential candidates, has perfected plans to launch anti-Ribadu campaign to make him unsuitable for the incoming cabinet to be formed by the president-elect, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. The anti-Ribadu mood of the cabal is based on the danger which his continued existence in government pose for government officials, state governors and others whom the EFCC had marked for arrest on charges of corruption. The EFCC boss had before now been reiterating that none of the government officials investigated for alleged corrupt practices would go scotfree, an indication that the EFCC would effect their arrest at the expiration of their constitutional immunity by May 29, 2007. The EFCC is said to have already placed some state governors under surveillance to prevent them from escaping abroad at the expiration of their tenures, a move aimed at making them answerable to the charges against them. Against this background, a pressure group set-up by the cabal has been advising the president-elect and his close confidant not to reckon with Ribadu in the scheme of things ahead of the next cabinet formation. It is not certain whether Yar’Adua had bowed to pressure to dispense with Ribadu, but Sunday Tribune can report that the cabal is behind media campaigns about Ribadu being named as a possible Inspector General of Police. The motive of the media campaigns, was to create anti-Ribadu sentiment within the Nigerian police and deliberately pitch the top officials of the police against him. Sunday Tribune learnt exclusively that the planted media war against Ribadu had started generating ill-feelings within the police circles in view of the loud murmurs by some officials that Ribadu can never be the Inspector General considering his limited qualifications. To further dent the image of Ribadu before the president-elect, the cabal was said to have recruited ex-police officers and retired Generals to launch heavy campaigns of calumny against him in the media and within the relevant circles. Meanwhile, a group known as Northern Coalition for Democracy and Justice had hinted that Ribadu may not survive the onslaught against him going by the manner of underground campaign to render him ineffective in the next political dispensation. The Secretary General of the Group, Mallam Umar Farouk told Sunday Tribune in Abuja that the North was getting accustomed to the impact of the anti-corruption crusade and, hence, would not want the EFCC to be phased out by the next civilian government. The northern youths, however, admonished the president-elect to be wary of the encroachment of sycophants on his authority, stating that he should use his wisdom to determine whether Ribadu is good for anti-corruption crusade or not. He said,” since the present civilian government introduced the anti-corruption crusade, we in the North have known the difference because the crusade has encouraged our state governments to be accountable. For this reason, we will do everything possible to encourage the president –elect to retain the crusade. “Nobody is saying that the president-elect should make Ribadu a minister, but if it pleases him that he should continue to man the EFCC, so be it. Otherwise, let him appoint somebody capable enough to continue the crusade”. http://www.ngex.com/cgi-bin/frame/frameit2.plx?link=%22http://www.tribune.com.ng%22 |
Posted by degoat: Big b1 please take a time out and let's hear what others have to say. This is a serious business that touches all of us and May 29 is also around the corner. @ degoat: Nice idea! |
posted by Donzman What did Peter Obi do in Anambra State?. . .Enough said!Unbelievable, this truly shows the level of your competency in regard to Nigerian politics. Believe me, you've been gone for too long; you definitely need more classes to brush up, my friend. Let us start you up with "Contemporary African Politics" class. You're not ready! |
Posted by BUSHFELLOW The bottom line is people do not go into politics because they believe in the ideology of the party, they do so because of what they intend to gain@BUSHFELLOW: Believe me, I see your point; infact I was one of the first people that came out to reject the election result. Then I quickly realized that it's not about me or how I feel or what I think about the election. It is all about Nigeria and unexceptional citizens who will not survive if all things go down. I have few questions for you: 1. Even if people chose to go ahead and fight it out in the courts and tribunals, with all the evidence; what do you think will happen at the court? 2. Can you truly count on our court system? 3. Do you really think going to court in Nigeria will make any difference? My brother our problems are much bigger than just the election result. And till we discover these problems and resolve them, we shall continue to witness this type of election outcome for many many years to come. Your recommendation will be effective in countries like London, France, United States E.T.C; but at this moment in Nigeria, you will be wasting your time, energy and money we do not have to get the same result. And not to mention how many innocent casualties. It is our duty as Nigerian new generation to come together as one and put together a better strategy to empower our election process and to educate the voters. There is definitely a bright light at the end of the tunnel, but for now we can not afford not to move on for the sake of peace and lives of the innocent folks. Even UK and United Stated have realized the danger ahead of Nigeria and Nigerians; and they've already coming together to support our new president, President Yar'Adua. Don't be a fool, Nigerian court system is the same as the election out come; believe me, you will be dealing with the same people that put together and released the election result. Save time, save lives, save money and save Nigeria; we must come together as one and rally around President Yar'Adua for the sake of progressiveness of our great nation. May God bless Nigeria. |
Posted by Bolaoni When it happens in 2011 what are we going to do? We will@ Bolaoni: I see your point and respect it. Now it is our duty as Nigerian new generation to come up with a better strategy to empower our election process and educate the voters. On this forum, for many months before the election, I've expressed the importance of empowering our election process and educating the voters, but of course folks like DONZMAN preferred OBJ's propaganda agenda (stopping Atiku and others). The money and time this administration spent on stopping Atiku could have been used effectively and efficiently on empowering election process and educating the the voters. I even stated that the desperation OBJ's government displayed before the election to stop Atiku and others only showed how much confidence this administration had in regard to election process, which was very displeasing at the time. But the deadheads refused to see the light, they were played as usual and now they are out there crying and whining. It's a little bit too later, folks. We had the opportunity to turn things around, but as usual we've allowed this administration to brainwash us. Now OBJ is about to move on and who will pay for this mess? It is too late to try to correct things that will not change for now. We must face the reality and get to understand Nigeria and our people. We must learn from the failure of OBJ's administration, but we must also move forward quickly. I am confident that Yar'Adua government will not disappoint us; they are ready and they will surprise many. For the sake of peace and progressiveness of our nation, we must give peace a chance. |
@Donzman: I guess you're now a happy man; you've just finished Big b1 and you must have gone to bed with a smile on your greasy face. Dude, you can sing from today till next year, you can even go ahead and write a book if you want; it is crystal clear to me that you're nothing but an alarmist, a powerless buffoon who throws stone from far away. You haven't presented any ascertainable or reasonable strategy to deal with this ongoing calamitous event at home, an even that could easily crumble the entire nation into dust. All you've done so far is making annoying and whining noise; you remind me of my Swedish ex girl friend, she used to cry just like you. I truly do not expect much from you and I have no doubt about it that you've been gone for too long. It takes a bright common sense to figure thing out at home. My friend, Nigeria is not Canada or London; You can not use the same mentality to sort things out at home. We will get there one day, but for now our main priority should be security of the citizens and stabilizing our economy. We do not want to drive away investors and jeopardize the security of the nation just because Atiku or Buhari or Kalu did not win the election. In my eyes, these folks are the same and none of them worth losing a single life of any Nigerian citizen. What you're recommending will only be effective in an organized environment; and it is clear to all (except Donzman) that Nigeria is far from being an organized nation. Don't get it twisted, we will get there very soon. At this time, what you're recommending will only place Nigeria as a country into a state of permanent disablement and many will lose their lives. Do you get it? Do you know anything about the repercussion of doing what is right at the wrong time? Do you know anything about wrong timing? Do you truly understand Nigeria? What do you know about politics? Do you have common sense? Dude, you're not ready; you need more classes, my friend. Donzman, it is easier for you to open your stenchy mouth from Canada or where ever you're currently hidding; till you're ready to lead the crusade against the Nigerian presidential election, you're nothing but a gutless wonder who is full of gibberish with absolutely zero to contribute. By the way, did you vote? Write it down today, whether you and your family like it or not, Nigerians will come around and support my proposition. Things will be restructured, people will reunite and Nigeria will be back on top as the Giant of Africa once again (so that folks like you no longer have to freeze your ass out there in Canada). Hence for now, you can go back to your little corner and start biting you fingers again, Lunkhead. |
@Donzman: You need to go home for a visit before you come here recommending nonsense. Nigeria is totally different from London or Canada. There are somethings that will never change for now. We are hoping for the best and praying everyday for a better strategy and better leadership. So, go sit down somewhere and stop biting your fingers. |
It is very simple to talk shit when you walk around with a full stomach and when your regrigerator is full of bread, hotdog, cheese and ketchup. It's not all about you, my brother; you need to pay attention to your folks at home dying everyday just because of a poor standard of living and political violence. I'm 100% sure that if you're currently living in Nigeria, your recommendation will be totally different. |
You answer my question first: At this point, what is your recommendation? |
@Colonial I feel you and I clearly see your point. It's more or less a dead end zone, but we must be sensible and use our Nigerian nimbleness to select an option that gives less opportunity cost. May God guard us to the right path. |
Yes, LEWA: You are right. |
Mr Donzman: Could you please let us know where you reside? Thanks. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ It makes me sick to my stomach when folks from another planet speak rubbish. Donzman, no disrespect, but it is very easy for one to tell that you've been gone for a very very long time and you're absolutely clueless. I will join you as soon as you give up your day time job, your comfortable house and other gadgets to come back home to fight for freedom (for Atiku and Buhari or for the election to be done over to get the same result). Give me a break! Your recommendation is unsymmetrical, boorish and I see an alarmist and a coward who speaks from far away with absolutely zero to contribute. By the way, have you eaten for the day? because many at home have not, but ready to move forward by giving peace a chance. It is very simple to talk shit when you walk around with a full stomach and when your regrigerator is full of bread, hotdog, cheese and ketchup. It's not all about you, my brother; you need to pay attention to your folks at home dying everyday just because of a poor standard of living. You should apply for a position with MEND; you will definitely fit well. |
