@Op....Personally I think you are still immature for a relationship... Because your mindset is not healthy. I hate people that bring their relationship problem here... I believe it's just a way to defame women and most of this topics are fake.
Men should be shamed for their want In violence like wild brute beasts. Women should be shamed for sleeping around and then trying to give an innocent man another mans child to bring up. Men always conduct paternity tests.

Similarly women have also been killed by men just because they were not interested in a relationship or marroage. it is for this reason that the future is female!

Are you serious, what is look less of yourself, please lets be very objective and reasonable even if we are pro black or pro africa.

Blacks call on whites to save them, Europeans save themselves, see all the protest in Nigeria for instance or even look at our politicians, they all cry to international bodies, The Eu, United states, owners of Twitter and Facebook to come save them, even the government of senegal cry to france to save them.

You live in canada or in the uk, is anywhere in Nigeria closer to the level of development in canada or the uk.

These are real questions we need to ask ourselves.
No you have fallen victim to white savior complex.

Nigeria has been self sustaining from 1960 to date.... the only issue is the Nigerians are unserious with work and are largely undisciplined.

About reporting themselves to us and EU it's a bit immature because US don't report themselves to African union.... I guess it's desperation for power and given that these are super powers that makes them do that.

But the question I guess is - why can't an African country bcome a super power?? The people are too relaxed and unserious. Think African time. Something as simple as keeping to time, they can't and they see nothing wrong with being late. Complain and they will say it's "insult".... the system is a tad backward

Trading with African countries is like when 2 poor people trade. You will have no gain or benefit. You might end up in debt.

Trading cocoa with african countries is a waste of time, what will they use it for??

I watched a documentary in Senegal about a cashew nut mini factory project, the EU did for a village in that country, instead of the people to think about how to process cashew nut for export to Europe, they were mostly interested in traveling to europe through the desert grin
Its the oyinbos that made that documentary to make you think less of your self. It's psychochological warfare and you have fallen victim to it..

It's the journalists that are the gold diggers who travelled through sea to get to Senegal. What business do they have There? The Senegalese don't need their help and haven't needed their help in centuries past.

That's what you think. And Africa isn't poor that's what you have been thought to believe.... kenya isn't poor... Ghana is to start processing it's cocoa to chocolate and exporting to Europe this year.....

To answer your question Chinese factories in kenya will process the cocoa and export the finished product to Europe.

Low productivity is one of the issues but you need to ask yourself, how do countries get rich?

The answer is simple, by capitalism.

Lower tax, high tech manufacturing businesses that connects to international market, highly skilled labour and investing in expanding on higher education and training.

Nigerians can work from morning to night but if no skilled labour and also people that are ready to take risk to build businesses that connect to international trade, we shall remain poor forever.
Trade can be between African member states....doesnt have to be to Europe. Nigerian cocoa can be sold to Egypt or Kenya and doesn't have to be sold to EU.

You know sometimes, thoughts about Nigeria and indeed Black Africa at large overwhelms me. The case of Nigeria is not that all we need do is reset the system because the system was never set, so we need to start nation building all from scratch.

I think that's partly what scares the successionists, the enormity of uniting three large tribes together coupled with other challenges.
To them and sometimes I think brainwashing a people composed of largely same culture into unity will be easier to achieve.

But even at that mode of governance in the splintered nations would have to be properly defined.

Whats you theory on Africas future, with no sentiments.
Africans are a great people who have had their own share of oppression in all fields of life. Africans are also a great people - we bring light to darkness.... we are also a very social people which explains why people are still "happy" despite all the issues bedevilling Nigeria. The downsides of Nigerian culture are lack of discipline, unseriousness and a bad attitude to work.

All Africa needs is a spark of diligence - and I think China can provide that spark...soon Nigerians will start aspiring to be workaholics like their Chinese counterparts.... and that new culture will grow....

Shagaris regime also tried but failed to provide that spark.....

Something else that can provide that spark is public shaming of public officials.... such as the #harassbuhari out of London campaign.

Africa is great and will rise. The future is bright.

I dont want to defend our failure as a Nation, but come on, colonialism in Africa is not the same as colonialism in America. Canada is populated by the colonisers while Nigeria is populated by the colonised.
During colonialism money and resources were been shipped to the west from Africa, it should be a common sense that the west would be more developed than Africa by the fact, they had relative advantage.
Please what prevents Nigeria from colonizing UK or India or Tanzania or Egypt or Ukraine today?? Aren't all humans equal? What Britain can do, Nigeria can also do?

We don't need to argue back and forth, Nigerias failure is not your failure neither is it mine, the responsibility for that goes to our forefathers.

They failed to plan
They had no vision
And definitely they had no foresight.

Its the truth and we should accept it, but then we should forget it (it happens, failure is not a trademark anybody could fail.).

The simplest easiest and most peaceful way out should be what our forums should be for, not emotional tantrums.
It's not sufficient to blame "forefathers" 1960 - 2021 is not time of forefathers.... still nothing tangible in terms of manufacturing has been achieved.

Colonization is about money. Once the British take over they set up trading posts.... during colonization of Ontario and Quebec resources were also being shipped to Britain from Canada.....Canada isn't populated by the colonizers.... and by the way it was Nigeria that drove the colonizers away

Your argument is not valid. China as not actually broken any barriers, the same people controlling the west are moving east. So basically Europe, America and Asias economy are controlled by the same people.
China has broken barriers by overtaking Europe and the US itself in manufacturing.

Stop giving excuses

Excuse, excuse, excuse! How did China break the barrier? How did South Korea break the barriers, how is Taiwan doing it? India has joined now, yet Africans talk of barrier and slave trade that ended a century ago.
Okay you have barriers to the western market, what about serving Africa first. How about serving middle east, asia?
Answer is LAZINESS. A typical Nigerian worker will spend 5 out 8 hours on scial media and the internet while at work. The factory is another story ... labour with entitlement mentality and urge to steal.
The north with its vast population is peopled by lazy population, who lay about selling currency instead of being in the farm. Those who own livestock hire children as herders and lay about doing nothing. The South East is peopled with resellers of imports, while the West is home to motor touts. So, where is the productive population?
Go out, the same Nigerians lazing about when the leave Nigeria work 2 jobs. Nurses and Doctors put in approimately 55 hrs a week. But back home it is 35 hrs. Teachers are a different specie, I can'r go there..
Say it again!! I recently read up on the history of Quebec and Ontario and Canada. Quebec was colonized by Britain then later by France. At a point Quebec was war torn. The English and French and the US fought over control of Quebec. Nigeria was only colonized by one country Britain and they are complaining. Today, Quebec GDP is the 33rd highest in the world and a major aircraft manufacturer. China has also started competing with Canada and US in aircraft manufacturer.

Let's assume population of Nigeria is 200m and able bodied working population is 50% of that which is 100m... using the example you cited of employees whiling away 5hrs of 8hrs per day. Now:

5hrs * 5days a week * 100m people = the amount of lost productivity on a weekly basis in hours

This readily explains why Nigeria ain't industrialized. It's not colonization or slave trade...slavery had long existed before Africans were enslaved.

My guy, Nigerians are not lazy, we are greedy and ignorant but are very motivated to succeed, that is why we are the best performing immigrants in many developed countries.

Our problem is if you leave us to manage our own affairs, our greed and ignorance to how the world works will always lead to our downfall.

Side story

My generator was bad, so I asked around for a repair person. I called and when the repair person showed up, he looked so young (may be 14 years), that I did not believe he could do the job.

This teenager proceeded to breakdown the generator engine, and asked that I purchase certain parts. He fixed my generator in no time.

In most developed societies, that teenager would either become a top manager at an engineering firm, or may be even start his own business. Why, because he would have gotten the formal education to match with the practical knowledge he probably learned from his parents.
Here in Nigeria, chances are that he would live a life no much better than his parents.

This true life story illustrates why Nigeria as it is presently constructed will never become industrialized.

We assume the government is supposed to lead the way to industrialization ( central planning) but this has never worked anywhere cause governments are not good at allocating resources and answering the basic economic problems of who to produce, for whom to produce and how much to produce.

The Government's role should simply be creating a level playing ground for all its young people irrespective of the incomes of parents. Without a well funded basic education system, no country can progress be it capitalist America or socialist China.

Because of our greed and ignorance we only care for our own children not realizing that other children may be the creators of jobs for ours, if these kids are giving the right education.
I agree with you that the average Nigerian is not lazy and is hardworking but the motivation for that hardwork is not for the greater good of the community - its so they can be "big boys", drive big cars, oppress their neighbors with material things; of course there are exceptions like the enlightened ones but the vast majority are like that.
Thanks for your inputs.

First off I thank you for not resorting to abuse, insult, personal attacks and such - this means we can have a civil conversation.

There's something called Business Intelligence - in BI you get information out of past data and use that to inform future decisions.

From 1960 to 2021, the various equipment that have been installed in hospitals and various equipment upgrades, where are they now?? This data suggests just having equipment is ineffective - there needs to be dedicated staff preferably non Nigerian (that's what the data says!) to manage both the entire hospitals and equipment.

If Nigerians want to remain no 1 for priority hiring then they need to have the same attitude to work as their international counterparts.

No big man in Nigeria will want that because Nigerian doctors lack secrecy. They also lack good attitude to patient too.
You hit the nail on the head.... it's not by equipping hospitals.... the people to handle, manage and the run the equipment and hospitals are still lazy greedy and wicked so it's not by buying equipment. Until people like you get it into your thick skulls that AFRICA was designated over 200 years ago as the source of raw materials for the west's industries, and that manufacturing for export (which is what makes countries rich) has been discouraged by sky high tariffs charged all over the world for African manufactured goods, you will keep typing IGNORANT RUBBISH.

Go and manufacture in Nigeria stuff they manufacture in Canada, and try shipping it to Germany or the UK to sell, the way Canada does with ease, and see how well you will do.

It is easy to sit on your computer typing rubbish and pointing fingers. Why don't YOU go into manufacturing and exportation of finished goods from Africa, and let us see how well you do? See all the multiple barriers you will come up against.

You don't know that firms have tried that since before your great grandfather was born, to no success, which is why it makes more economic sense to export raw materials, a less lucrative activity?

But no, according your thick skull, we just do that because we are too ''lazy'' and I guess ''stupid'', to not know as much as ALL-KNOWING you.
You have low iq. If you didnt you would have known that high tariff is all the more reason why Africa should have industries and trade among African member states just the same way US States trade among themselves Florida sells orange juice to new york and Kansas sells wheat to other states. But the dull Africans are too dull, greedy and divided to figure out they can trade among themselves without exporting to Europe....

The cursed African race has also been too dull to industrialize itself.... always waiting for its senior brothers China and Europe to do the industrialization for them. Lazy animals.

Capital products yields more value than raw materials in the international market and as such commands higher price.

Basic economics 101.
It's because of laziness, inefficiency et al that Nigeria can't export finished products according to your thesis; still shameful that a country of jusr 36m exports finished or capital products while a country of 200m cant. This is why even train Lagos to ibadan is imported
