Politics › Why Ethnicism Is What Will Destroy Nigeria by BigBashiru(op): 7:47am On Apr 28, 2021
The word "tribe" was given to Nigerians by the British and suggests primitiveness yet Nigerians have continued to adopt the word without question....how come Welsh, English, Scottish and Irish people that make up the UK don't refer to themselves as tribes?? These are bonafide tribes and they don't even call themselves ethnic groups...this is part of the psychological warfare being waged on Africans....

Secondly as a Northerner, I care not if igbos rule Nigeria for next 20 years if the igbo candidates were the best candidates.. Same for Yoruba.... ethnic divisions is what is destroying nigeria

Yeah. The end could be tonight or 500 years' time. People thought the end has come during WW1 that claimed 20million lives. We are still here gidigba after 100yrs. People thought the end has come during the Smallpox epidemic that claimed millions in its first four years. COVID 19 is a child's play to Smallpox. We are still standing here. Honestly, if you are a student of history, nothing is happening now that we've not seen the worst in the past. In fact, it seems the world is even getting better now.

I am not disputing end time, just letting you know the reality. Christians should not be heavenly conscious and earthly useless cos rapture may not happen in 500 years' time. Let's still continue to have some long-term plans for ourselves, our family, and the nation. In fact, individual rapture, which is death can also happen anytime. That individual rapture is more concerning to me cos that one has been proven and it's 100% sure that we will all taste it.
You are a wise person.... during the early 90s it was rumoured that the world was about to end and many sold their properties.... those people must be very hungry now because Jesus still nova return grin

And if they pray to Him to return since then Him nova answer them lol grin

Point is ppl should stop fear mongering.

2. How has he done a good in terms of rice, fruits and vegetables u say we shouldn't take for granted?

3. Why are d ministers of "electricity and fuel" not doing well? After 6years, why has it taken buhari that long to fire them?

4. When u say "fuel", I guess u mean petroleum. Are u aware that buhari is d minister of petroleum? If u say d minister in charge of fuel isn't doing well, are u invariably saying buhari isn't doing well and therefore deserves sack?

NB: in questions 1 & 2, I used d word "HOW". U haven't told me "HOW". I also don't d relevance of d information u provided in d second paragraph to d questions I asked u
For Q1 and 2, please refer to the Buhari Media Organization documents and videos on the agricultural achievements of the administration. It's too numerous to mention here.

3. I already admitted it's a lapse in the administration. Good citizens like you should join a non violent pressure group such as Enough is Enough to pressure the government to do the needful.

4. Buhari should resign due to inability to maintain territorial integrity e.g. boko Haram hoisting flag in Niger and not understanding that most Nigerians can't afford the high fuel prices I agree

I'm not arguing we just need to fix thus country so we don't hv to jappa to abroad.

Before I comment further, please let me be clear that based on the failure of the government to maintain territorial integrity as well as reasonable secure life and property - the current president should resign. However, this must not mask the achievements of the administration in the areas of rice production, meat production etc. the day you will appreciate it is the day you will go to the market and be told no rice again or no meat.

However this good point of the administration has been nullified by the failure to end insurgency. All it would take to end the insurgency is to cooperate with South Africa, Kenya, UK or US - and carry out a joint operation - to quench the insurgency once and for all. Before the operation starts, all civilians would be asked to leave the area over a 3-6months period. This is common sense and the administration has failed to do this - and so is technically incompetent.

what caused the French revolution was famine. The central focus of the administration had been food production. The high cost of food items is the greed of the merchants and not the fault of the government.

After 6years, why has it taken buhari that long to fire them?
Valid point.

Nigeria needs a conference where everyone needs to decide on the best ways to move the country forward. Both the president and governors are not really held accountable for their actions. But as I said the president is solely responsible for everything wrong in the country. He has the power to make positive changes and do the right thing without being sympathetic to a particular region/religion. Until we review the laws of this country we will keep going in circles while the those in government are cashing out and the youths will keep arguing aimlessly on irrelevant topics.
Yes I agree a conference is needed.

<<But as I said the president is solely responsible for everything wrong in the country>>
That's the easy way out.... it doesn't even sound right.... and this is where most Nigerians miss it. Even the next president after Buhari they will keep blaming him/her. Nigerians themselves are 33% responsible for everything wrong with this country plus the collective leadership (not just Buhari)

Yes the governors should be held responsible, but the kind of democracy being practiced in Nigeria gives the president absolute powers which makes wicked people who finds their way into that position to act wickedly. If a good man becomes the president of Nigeria things will move well. The president is in charge of the country and every blame stop at he's doorstep. Anyone trying to make excuses for the president/presidency is just doing so out of hes/her normal survival hustle.
Take personal responsibility for yourself.... is a wise saying....

Problem is most people like blaming others for their failures.....

There's no special kind of democracy being practiced in Nigeria.. ... it's easier to blame one man than to blame who should be blamed just the same way it's easier to pray than to work....

It's easier to pray from 6am - 9am expecting miracles than to wake up at 4am shower go work hussle for work come back.

If you are serious request the State budget from your state governor and start from there.... but this is hard work that's why ppl just blame Buhari

Farmer Herder Crises
State Governors have failed Nigerians by not negotiating with Miyetti Allah and working with their cabinets to immediately quench the farmer herder crises. There's no way only one man can simultaneously be having 36 meetings with 36 state governors to stop farmer herder and also be attending foreign meetings and also be stopping kidnapping... it is the head of all these other institutions that have failed Nigerians

Territorial Integrity

Buhari is responsible for ensuring the territorial integrity of Nigeria and this is the major failing and failure of the administration for which Buhari should be 100% blamed. He should resign for this reason alone

Poor Healthcare
Let's use Ajaka State as an example. Ajaka State has a State Ministry of Health with staff. It is the State Ministry of Health that has failed Ajaka people not Buhari. Buhari is not "the head" or "at the top" because the State Governor was not appointed by Buhari. Ajaka people voted in a governor who has failed them. The governor minister of health and ministry of Health staff has failed the people by refusing to build good hospitals.... this is commonly blamed on Buhari. Secondly most States can afford to fund their healthcare themselves without federal allocation. The need for federal allocation is overhyped. Federal Ministry of Health only has an oversight responsibility - they can send in staff to various States to check data, state of equipment etc but the Nigerians manning the State Ministry are liars and thieves who will give false figures to the federal ministry... in this case the federal ministry cannot do much....

The Nigerian people have been failed by their state governors.

At the next election, pay more attention to your state governor.

If Nigerians chanelled the energy they use in blaming Buhari to blaming their state governors - Nigeria would have become much better by now!
