Are you going for bachelor or masters? Why would only 70% Tuition only refundable. I will advice you to go for other schools with 100% refund policy if visa denied, cos nothing is gurantee. How much tuition are you paying?
@Love... It's a graduate diploma course though. And I just like the country. Don't really no of other schs as such. Thanks a bunch.

It is going be alot easier if you mail the admission office requesting for a letter of recommendation sort of. So u could present with your documents at the embassy. Besides, the school fees payment would give you a higher chance of securing your visa.
@Malcom2x... I'm considering paying the tuition fee though. But I just want to get good info relating to my questions. Thanks bro

Hi gurus in the house, I will be very grateful if you all can help me with information as to how to go about my admission and visa procurement to enable me study in New Zealand.
I just gained admission in Manukau Institute of Technology. The admission will be fully secured only after payment of tuition fee and other fees.
Please I just want to know the following:

1) Do I have to secure visa before making the payment (As refund of tuition fee is only 70%)?

2) Is there a possibility that visa would be granted without paying the tuition fee?

3) Session starts by October and the school wont tell me the time frame I have to make the payment as I want to use now till August end to gather some funds. Do I have that time long so I don't loose the admission?

4) Is there a possibility of securing a PR on completion of my one year study?

Please house, kindly assist me with info.... Sincere appreciations....

Don't worry chief, you'll be better next time. Please did you pay online and how did you do it?

I am tying to pay for IELTS exam online...thanks.
@Intrepid01... Yes I paid online using the account information provided online. You just need to follow the payment information e.g. (put the last four digit of ur application number and also fill in the month you're taking the exam in figure)
Hope this helps.

If you don't have a valid job offer, simply answer "No".

Age may no longer be on your side.

To get a higher score, you may encourage your wife to write IELTS. Try to evaluate her educational qualifications too so that you can claim more points through her.

On the other hand, you may consider your wife as the principal applicant if younger and has more qualifications. Use the CRS Tool to determine who stands a better chance.
@40manlappy $ BoldInc... Result is finally out but British Council gave me a knock out.
Listening: 6.0
Reading: 6.0
Writing: 7.5
Speaking: 7.0
Is there any other nomination program this can fly for? Like the Atlantic Pilot program done by 4 states. Please kindly respond. Thanks

As rightly advised, you don't need an agent. Doing that may end up complicating matters for you. This is a DIY forum with plenty success stories.

Kick-start application for your credential assessment NOW, don't procrastinate.

Prepare well for your IELTS. All the best!
@40manlappy.... Thanks boss! I'm doing my speaking test tomorrow and writing the rest on Saturday. I will update you wen it's done and state the result here too. Thanks Man

Are you in the pool now? What is your score? You do not need an agent to get this done... Nobody here used one.

What stage are you in now with this process. Share and let's see how you can be helped.
Thanks @BoldInc.. I'm putting all necessary documents in check. Haven't started the application process yet. I just want to get all the necessary information I will be needing so I can be well informed. My wife will be taking the IELTS exam come April and if she does better, I might make her the principal applicant. Thanks BOSS!!!! I really appreciate the time you spent writing back. Cheers...

@bigheadday

I think age is responsible for your low CRS score.

If you can get an attestation for your Msc, I think you should be the principal applicant as boldinc earlier suggested.

IMHO, your immediate focus should be on obtaining ECA reports and IELTS results for you and your wife. Find out if you can get an attestation for the Msc programme.

Thereafter, you can now use the CRS tool to determine who should be the principal applicant between you and your spouse. Check my previous post for this.

Please ask all your questions here so that you can benefit from diverse opinions and input of other members.

Cheers!
@40Manlappy... Thanks a bunch. I'm thinking of registering the IELTS exam for my wife now since she has a Bsc and her age is 30. Also I have been getting messages from one "Migrate Expert Canada" an online agent. Do you think using an online agent helps in securing a PR? I sincerely do appreciate your input and that of BoldInc as I have gained good knowledge of the process. Thanks men...

If your score after your MSc results are out would drastically increase your score, I would advice you wait. Otherwise, you can still be in the pool as long as you have evaluated you BSc.

Wanna share your score as it is?
@Boldinc... Only seen 8 out of 11 excluding my thesis. had 4 B's and 4 C's. Do you advice I wait till my MSc result is fully out? That will be like in May/June. Thank you so much bros

It is very difficult to get a job in Canada while you are still in Nigeria, not saying that it is impossible.

Why don't you focus on those things that you have control over?

What makes you think that you can do better than your wife? Don't underestimate her. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Let me share my experience with you: When we wrote our IELTS back then in December 2014, I thought I would do better than my wife. Interestingly, she too acknowledged the fact that I could do better.

However, when the results came out, she easily attained CLB 9 while I "managed" to clinch CLB 8. Frankly speaking, she prepared harder than i did!

Women can go extra mile when they believe in a cause. All you need to do is to motivate and encourage her. She could become more passionate about the Canadian dream than you eventually.

For a start, please share with the house your age, educational qualifications and your spouse's full educational qualifications and work experience. It may give us an idea of what further suggestions to proffer.

Due to her age, she could turn out to be a better choice as the primary applicant.

Let me allow the gurus to put mouth inside too cheesy

cc: dupyshoo
@49Manlappy.... You're simply the best.. Actually, I just felt since I have taken the exam twice in 2013 with a score of LSRW 8.5,6.5.6.0,6.0 Just felt I could do better than her.
I'm 35 and by June will be 36. She's 30 and will be 31 in Dec. I'm done with my Msc though the result is yet to be out. We both have Bsc from Uniben and above 3 years working experience. I'm thinking of taking the test as the principal applicant even if she will write it, just to boost my point because I feel I can be more outspoken than her in the process of securing the PR that's if nominated. But on a second though I might, if she happens to do better than I, she will be the principal applicant.
Sincerely speaking, I'm still finding the missing link where I'm having lower score in the CRS.
What best advice would you render? Wish we could talk or chat will be really nice.

My sincere appreciations bros....

@40manlappy... Thanks a million. She's 30 with Bsc and all that. But I believe I can do better in the IELTS than her. Though I want her to write the April exam just to boost our points but not sure she will make that much grade in the IELTS to enable her be the principal applicant. What advice would you proffer bros? I appreciate your input so much. Thank you. As for the valid job offer, no I don't have any. Is there a way out of it? Though I have over 6 years experience here in naija. Further advice will be much appreciated bros. Thanks a lot.

boldinc:
Use this link to calculate your score: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

In some cases, your score might be high a enough for an ITA without you spouse's ECA nor IELTS. The best way to find out is to use the link to calculate your score either way and then share your scores here and we can advise. The most recent cut off is 447 and could most likely reduce further.

With regards to ECA, it's advisable to start right now, as it may take while to get sorted. You don't lose anything by starting right now.
@Boldinc... Please I will like to have a phone conversation with you if you won't mind. Or better still a chat on Whatsapp. Please! Thanks

it is advisable for your spouse to write the exams but not necessary .
in order to determine your score you can use the crs tool calculate it . just google "calculate your crs score" and work from there . also read the thread from 0, you will get an insight as to how scores are given and why maximum points are necessary . the score for ielts LRSW score 8877 for aim for the highest 8.5,8,7.5,7.5
@Optionese.. Thank you for your response. Please how do you mean by "not necessary"? Won't her score be taking into consideration when calculating my score with the CRS? Please guide me as I intend to register her for the April IELTS exam but if her score is not taking into consideration so I won't have to waste the money. Thank you...

Oagwaye1:
1.yes ,it will increase your score as long as she is accompanying you
2.minimum score to enter the pool is band 6 in LRSW but to get maximum score for English language and boost your CRS ,you need L8.5 ,R8
S7.5 W 7.5
3.you should evaluate your highest educational qualification(s) concurrently
@Oogwaye1..Thank you so much for your response. I guess I will have to register for my spouse so she can take the exam in April to help boost our chances. As for the education qualification, we both have BSc. Hope this also help in increasing our CRS.

Please when is it advisable I contact WES for the ECA? Your input is highly appreciated. Thank you

Great forum! Great thread!! I've been following this thread for a while now and I must commend the great minds and great people of this forum who in so much ways has dedicated their time in dishing out information.

As a newbie, I'm about taking the IELTS come March 4th. someone should render kind assistance to my questions;

1) Is it advisable I take the exam with my spouse though I'm the principal applicant? If yes, will it increase my score

2) What is the minimum IELTS score to that can enable one enter the pool? (As this will inspire me)

3) After the IELTS, what is the next step to take?

Please great minds in the house should help me on this. Thank you

To go through the process, you will need to read as the process is not that complex!!

With the little information you stated, nobody can tell you if you are eligible or not. You will need to provide much more details. Moreover, it is not just the eligibility that matters, you also need to have high CRS score to stand a chance as you might be eligible with low CRS score.
@dupyshoo.. Please is there any ongoing nominee program now in Canada? Please give me a clue. Thanks
