@all it had earlier been mentioned on this thread that once RSI reaches 70 it is best to dump the stock.therefore intercontinental is already over sold. access bank still has room for growth etc. am i interpreting the charts properly. my other question is which RSI should one follow 9,11 or 25. Do you know you can customise these parameters to your liking? Tools > Indicator parameter settings. |

koksieboy: I've tried to use the metastock converter to load the NSE data too unsuccessfully. The only thing that worked was to save each individual securities in the NSe.zip file as a different CSV file and upload into metastock individually. I'm currently playing around with Metastock Converter v1.3 to convert the NSE data into metastock format. try following the steps i suggested earlier, you shouldnt need to save csv files individually, the program does it for you. Also when you update the NSE.csv file. You can add more data to NSE.csv (say before 01/08/07 or after 21/12/07, or even add new securities with new dates) the program will do a update the individual csv files or create a new one if a new security data was added to NSE.csv. Pokerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

Naijadr: Manjiro thanks so much for that excel file bigjay that NSE data is amazing thanks much I'm going back and forth between Aptistock and Metastock, like koksieboy stated, I like that expert feature that just reads the chart, but still trying to get a hang of it all. I usually have to convert it to metastock format using its converter that comes with the application. I use excel format and convert it to Metastock EOD format, have u tried that pumping? You mustnt use the converter, I already have daily data in seperate excel sheets, I wrote a script that populates a one line formular (of vlookups) into hundreds of line of different dates & diferent securities in metastock EOD format. |

pumping777: I'm also trying to load the data into metastock but no luck yet. I need just one thing. A valid excel or CSV format that will work for the conversion. It is not accepting the CSV files. Does anyone know the standard ASCII Metastock format that metastock will accept to convert to metastock format?? which OS are using? XP/Vista?. if you are using XP, then you shouldnt have any problem. If you are using my NSE.csv, 1. Tools 2. Data downloader 3. Import 4. File Select > Browser ( to NSE.csv) 5. Other Market > NSE 6. Import To tag the security description, repeat steps 1 - 2 3. Edit Sym List 4. Import > locate file 'description' (posted earlier). One other thing I did is to remove all other stock markets, repeat steps 1 - 2 3. Market Edit 4. Select a preexisting market 5. I added NSE and deleted all other markets (click one it gets highlighted, select and delete) Woheeee , bob is your uncle |

drdaniel: @ pumping, the program begins importing the data and somewhere along the line there is a vista message that the data downloader has encountered a problem and stopped responding and will close. Meanwhile the error dialog box on aptistock does not show any message after the initial message before importing.I don't know whethher its a vista issue.Has anyone using vista successfully run aptistock. Unfortunately I don't use vista, so not able to help you here. For all whom it works for My ealier NSE.zip has only data but you can use the attacched file for Symbol description. Click on Tools > Data downloader > Edit Sym list > import. then locate a tab delimited text file with 2 cols (Symbol & descripton). This will tag the company name to each security when you produce the charts. I have been informed (by Naijadr) that 'Equis Metastock' (by Reuters) does a better job by interpreting the charts. I hope to lay my hands on it by tomorrow. I'll let the house know when I've given it a spin. |

If he promised to refund the difference if it goes below your selling price, then I am inclined to say hold. It looks like he knows something which you dont. My only regret is that I only 30K units each of Lasaco@2.50 and Mbenefit@2.70 agianst my brokers advice to buy more. Please let the house know when he advices you to sell. |

Obalende: I have been to www.ubagroup.com but cannot find the basic things like services, charges, policies, etc - and the account opening forms. Does anyone know how to get the UBA Stock Brokerage account opening forms and how to initiate the process? The website: http://www.ubagroup.com/stockbrokers/default.asp appears scanty. @Obalende I can send you by mail all forms you would need for current account, capital market account and domicillairy account. Zipped file is 1.6M (far too big to be posted here) @all UBAS users, I have just realised that you can send your orders directly to them (stockbrokers) at ordersuba-s at ubagroup dot com. This cuts out your relationship officer in the order placing process, though I dont know if this has any attendant implications (I dont imagine it does) |

grabdaloot: What is your target exit price or profit margin you are hoping to make based on your analyses. I am supposing you have a prioritized list of stock to invest in. So if at N4.8 say your target exit is N9.6 means you can still make a 100% but if the next stock on your list is N12 and your target exit is N30 means you have a 150% to make there so you'll opt for that. I think you should be the one to make the call not anyone else True, true, I am wondering if AGLeventis has the potential to hit N10 in about 6-9 months bearing in mind the joint venture with Cummins |

I don't understand your formula oo, easimoni help us out. My own 14 days for A.G leventis is very much different from yours.
Does the date you start charting the RSI affect your RSI figures??
Please help us out here. I think if we have different starts and ends of 14 day periods then we are bound t have differnt results, since there will be different prevailing prices on these days. The only thing I noticed is that you used last close and this close in ur calculation whereas I used opening and close prices. I dont know which is correct, most texts I looked at used opening and close prices. |

grabdaloot: [ Yodi, How you apply the RSI is purely up to you but I will try to explain the general principle of the application. It can be used by all kinds of investors, dividend hunters, capital gain pursuants, long term investors etc. The thing is that when you have decided on stock you want to invest in, the RSI will aid you in getting in at the best time/price. It can also serve as an aid for when to exit (short sellers love the RSI to death). Various people have various bars but typically 70 seems to be the sell indicator and 30 the buy one. As for AGLEVENT, I just looked again and the RSI to me seem to be in the 54 - 56 range. Still a good entry point for the stock if you ask me considering the relatively lean volumes. I used the 5 - 25 day range to look at it (increment of 5 days), so decide on a stock evaluate the RSI and know when to jump on the boat. Those of you that like 'cyclic' stocks this is a must use! With higher highs and higer lows immenient the swingers/surfers should get ready to ride the wave @Grabalot I don't understand how you arrived at an RSI of 54-56. I used the 14 day range. Find attached my results. Have I miscalculated something? |

X-2-X: Compliments of the season to all.
I am searching for a reliable source of daily price updates in Excel format.
Can anyone recommend and provider (I tried registering on FSDH, nothing received so far after > 3weeks, Meristem is sending out unuseable excel workbooks {hard, nay, impossible to cut and past stuff easily from theirs} and Zenith has not updated their website since 18th).
I need a source that has Opening, Closing, High, Low as well as Volumes information in MS Excel formated documents.
Thanks.
Merci beacoup et bien à vous!!
I download from Zenith securities, run a macro in textpad that tab delimits the field (by changing all spaces to tabs) then copied and pasted in excel. Unforttunately I only have from August this year till 21st of Dec. Its pretty str8 fwd to do. Is this any good 2 u? or do u want it further back? |

I am thinking of asking my brother to print the UBA form for me in Lagos and fill it out. I will just do the signature page, scan and send it and then he can take everything to them at Marina to open both the Banking/Stock brokerage account, from your experience, will that be OK?,
I am asking the same question about contacting stockbroker, I currently use a small brokerage firm in Lagos, small but effective with buy and sell order and I can contact my relationship officer easily, According to her, stockbrokers take "orders" from several agent and are not very easy to contact direcly by client!!
NBA and others, feel free to contribute,
Thanks. I dont think it shld be a problem, I remember asking Patricia if I can email the forms to her and she said yes but the problem was that I had to send a hard copy of the passport (which must be duly countersigned at the back). Assuming ur brother have your passport photos (2 of them) he can get them signed by a notary public (solicitor). You can email the signed forms to (patricia dot nwadike at uba group dot com) then your brother can then send the hard copy of ur passport to her. it shouldnt be a problem. UBA will open a current account , (domicilliary acct if you want), capital mkt account with a CSCS account. The current account has to be funded with 100K and the capital mkt acct with 250K |

bjluv: if it is possible to send the forms to UBA via email, then I better do that as I can not trust that a parcel will ever arrive to Nigeria in 1-2 weeks
UBA NRN holders, is it possible to transfer funds from your UBA account to GTB account for example online?
Also does it UBAremit work from other European countries like Sweden? I could see from the site, that it is meant for people in UK, US and Canada. I might be wrong though, kindly correct me please I have just opened a current & capital market account with UBA stockbrokersI opened my account about 3 weeks ago. All i did was, fill out the forms, for £38.50 DHL'd them to Patricia Nwadike (UK rep) on a Thursday, she got it on first thing on Monday (was really impressed), by Tuesday my current account was opened, by Wednesday the next week the capital market account was opened. All in all both accounts took 8 working days (wow!!! couldnt ask for more). I could have scanned and emailed / faxed the forms but what of the passport photos, it also had to be notarised The bit I still don't understand is the process of issuing a buy /sell order. As I understand it, you send such orders to your Relationship officer who then passes down to the stokbrokers. If I send a mandate tonight, does it get to the stockbrokers 1st thing in the morning the next day so it can be actioned on My dilenma - why can't I deal directly with the stockbrokers What if you send a mandate and he/she is off duty for any reason, or doesnt get to the stockbrokers before they leave for trading for that particular day Lost day (with its attendant implication on prices) you will agree with me that in this business 1 day makes a lot of difference in terms of entry / exit prices. Most profit in this game is made on entry prices. Anyone using UBA NRN feel free to chip in. I stand corrected if any of my assumption(s) is(are) wrong Does anyone know what UBAS brokerage charges/fees are |
