There's this lady that joined my working place and also my next-door neighbor, she's kind and her character has been so gud for d six weeks she started working at my place of work.

I think I'm loving her but I will not want what happened with d lady I had a brief relationship with to happen again.

Guys do u think I should go ahead and ask her out?

I'm scared of d negative that might arise cos we are working in d same establishment even though I'm a senior colleague to her there.

But sometime last year, I read that the porn industry is lucrative. I wanted to start my own channel on Xvideos and recruit like one or two girls of opposite physiques, and pump like 1 million naira into my first few videos and marketing. But I am hesitant because as if I am not yet sure that the porn industry is lucrative.

Other businesses I have in mind include:

I) Habib Yoghurt franchise. (But I need 1.5 million more to open a Habib Yoghurt franchise.

II) Primary School (I am not sure if 3.5 million will be enough as I am a person who likes to start big, with big standard).

Iii) Sport Betting Site (My capital is obviously too small).

In this post, I'm going to be sharing tips of How You Can Kill Time Effectively.

Time is money they say but sometimes you notice you have free time on your hands and don't know how to use it well... Or how to turn it into money

This article is for people who find themselves in that time when it's either you are:

- just out of school and waiting for admission
- just out of school and job hunting.
- just have free time and don't know what to do to kill time.

Sometimes people complain of having no time and on the flip side we have people who's problem is too much free time.

One of the saddest times in a person's life is when you have too much free time and have nothing to fill it up with.

This idleness is a growing trend because of modernization. We don't need to go to farm again, women don't have kids as early as before to engage them and there are no imminent wars so young boys are left at home or in school. Technology has also made things easier. This is a positive thing but it in turn created a new kind of problem. A problem which never existed before and so has no solution at hand.

And that problem is the issue if having too much free time. It can even lead to depression and a psychotic event if attention is not fixated on something.

I have been in that position and it's a very bad place to be in. If you've ever been isolated for weeks or months either in a quarantine or a prison you would understand what I mean. You begin to reflect too much on yourself and you cause yourself to fall into a deep sadness or bad habits...

Having too much time or an unengaging unsatisfactory life or job can lead to drug usage, sex addiction and alcohol abuse. And even depression or suicide.

So here are a few tips on what you can do when you are bored

1. Take a walk. Walk down the block and back to your apartment if you can. Do this every 1 hour. Or 3 hours. The fresh air and physical activity will refresh your mind.

2. Document or record yourself. If I'm free and less busy, I video record myself talking about random stuffs and how I feel. It could be in writing or on video.

I'm not too comfortable in front of a camera and the audio is poor but then I do a video a week and should start posting this today on YouTube.

In other words, you can start your own blog or diary and worry about how to get an audience later. You can even do this on Nairaland on the diary section. Besides, who knows you could blow on Social Media if you put in the time to document and post contents... I'm always on Nairaland when bored as well as other SM.


3. Read a book. Most people don't like reading because its time consuming & monotonous.. but then it helps me kill time especially if I'm in a location where I can't take a walk. I found love in non-fictional books and can binge on Robert Greene all day.


4. Hit the Gym. the gym will always keep you pumped up whether you're in the mood or not. So if you usually have a boring day the best way to start it is to hit the gym. No caps.

5. Go shopping. Visit a mall. Do some window shopping. Walk into some shops and taste out their footwears and cloths without buying. Remember you don't pay for testing.

6. Start a channel on Social Media. this will become your new purpose. Your goal should be 1 post per day. Then grow from there. It'll engage your mind In a way you'll never imagine was possible and you also network with lots of new people.

Create a new channel, don't add up your friends or family (they are sometimes the biggest demotivators to new ideas) Pick a topic, fix your tripod stand and turn on your selfie video cam then hit record.


7. Learn a skill online. Guys, I honestly cannot advice anyone to go into any business that isn't online. In fact, if the business doesn't involve a laptop or the internet at some point then I'm not interested.

Do you realize that your mobile phones are just mini-laptops?

You literally have the internet on your phones. You don't need to go to a cyber cafe and pay for Internet Time like in the early 90s before you can access the web...

Tbh, no one who has an internet-enabled phone should be broke.. Learn evergreen digital/online skills today and you'll never regret it in your life.

The internet literally saved me.

A few examples are E-commerce, Facebook advertising, YouTube and Google advertising, Copy writing, WordPress web editing, CSS web editing, Photoshop is mad too.

Video editing is fire too! And the amazing thing is you'll never complain about being broke if you have these skills learnt. This is a topic for another day. You can also look into Phyton and online security. App development.


8. Learn an Offline Skill. Guys, if you're bored and always at home doing nothing. but you love using your hands then I strongly recommend that you should consider learning a handiwork.

Personally, I'm don't like selling my time for money but then I remember when I waited at home for 3 years for uni admission what I did was simple- I called up my big aunties and uncles who already had business shops and went there everyday to help them bring in customers.

Like a middle man. Sometimes we take up monthly promotion jobs or minial jobs and It keeps our minds busy as young boys. We even offloaded lorries of goods in the market just to get out of the house and earn an income in the process.

Carpentry is hot. Electricians are always in demand. tailoring nko? That one is hot-in-demand especially if your SM game is tight. PC and Tablet repairs is fire hot too �

If I had a son, I would never let him stay idle at home for more than 3 to 5 days in a roll. He has to engage his mind somehow. An idle mind is not just the devil's workshop it's also a mine and can be triggered by the wrong events.

If you're financially bouyant you can take a trip. Or do a boat cruise or visit an art gallery if you're bored but I'm focused on How To Waste Time Effectively without Spending too Much Money.

9. Do a cleanup. Physically cleaning up your space produces positive mental results. This is because as you tidy up your space, or even dress your bed or arrange a scattered room you subconsciously set your life's scattered plans in order.

It's like that moment when you see someone eating or you perceive a sweet smelling aroma and you automatically become hungry. Or when you watch adult movies and get aroused that's almost the kind of reaction your brain gets when you clean up.

10. Play a video game. My favorite of recent is Call Of Duty Mobile. It can get boring after months of play but it's still my best.

11. Call Your Mom or relative. Most of you don't call your parents as much as you should. Me included

Sometimes it's part of that isolation we're talking about. You have a mood swing then you shut everyone out. Because you want to be left alone. I understand but it's not gonna help u. Instead you'll feel worse because isolation is not good.

Yes call 3 people you love and ask if there're free to talk. A random 7 to 9 mins video or voice call can brighten your day I'm ways I never knew because mood is infectious.


12. Dance. Go online and download DJ Party Mix. Connect your Bluetooth speaker. Shut your doors and shake what ya mama gave you.

You mustn't go to the disco to have fun. To make it even funnier get a camera and record yourself.

13. Cook something.
Cooking anything other decent meal from scratch takes an average of 45 mins to 2 hours

This is also a very creative way of killing time at home. You can try a new recipe by checking IG for naija receipes hashtags. It's even funnier if you don't know how to cook. You can call up any of your female friends and ask for help on the phone. They will love it

So instead of staying home and sleeping all day or wanking all day, you can pick up 1 or 2 of these tips and use it to kill your time effectively.

Final thoughts...

Your inability and lack of self-control to sit down and put your free time to use now that you have it will come back to hunt you years later when you find out that you have no valuable skill to offer when push comes to shove and you need to adjust.

It can be a sudden retention from work or a sudden change in economy. Who knows... My point is use your free time well.
