Harmone:
hi guys, am sorry i havent posted for some time, the problem is my access to internet. but i must say that i am not too happy with the way we are going about this game, i am also ashamed of my self, because i have not been able to keep to my words, but we have to organize ourselves properly, so many people have joined the team but with such a large number of people yet no major progress, well this is because we are not well organized. in a short while i will draw out a plan on how we can organize ourselves and i will post it later.

@game addict, thanks for your ginger, its like you are the only one in this team

@world best, we need to organize.
Really, Am embarrassed to hear that since when this started, there has been no remarkable progress on the project. I have not been able to contribute since all these days, I was worried, thinking that the project might have gotten to a stage where I may not be relevant again. But all I see is that people keeps on joining the team everyday, even those that want to start learning programming from the scratch. The real fact is that, we embarked on an interesting project that people will always want to be part of, but that may not actually solve the problem at hand. I read a write up sent to me via email by an intellectual nigerian writer concerning this thread (though I read it late, remember i have not been coming online) my senses were opened, I expected a big change from everybody that reads that mail, but yet I can't see it.
Like Harmone just said, we need to be organized. In a nut shell the following are my suggestion (I wouldn't know if things like these have been discussed s) for your consideration.
1. Let's realise that we have a team and that it's a great team just like microsoft developer's team
2. I suggest that we should group ourselves (e.g The analysts, The Developers (graphics/code/anything), The Quality Assurance team etc)
3. I suggest that we organise a local/ costless get together (because money is always nigerian dream killer) so as to know each other and have a better discussion. What do we discuss? goto next line
4. I percieved that gameaddict is a great game developer, let's see how many people are closed to him in terms of understanding the concepts and how many others can he/they carry along.
5. let's set a time limit for the project. Because a dream without time limit is always not likely to become true
6. Lastly, I don't want to offend any nairalander, but I suggest that we close the registration for now

Remember what I asid at the early stage of this project? "Planning or Starting this project is not my fear. But the completion of it is what am thinking of.

Because we've had so many proposals like this on this forum, talk of software army, talk of web conference etc they are no where to be found today. How is this one gonna be?"
Please, Let's make this a reality. Let's do our BEST to give out the BEST, even thoughwe are not in the BEST country or have the BEST resources

I decided to choose National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for my degree programme because I know that like the so call conventional universities, they have nothing to offer when it comes to updated practicals. But NOUN is better because I have time for real practical somewhere else since it's a part time programme. But other schools, chei, they spend the whole of their time on campus, only to come out as read and pass graduate. I know I've made a right choice.

ProgrammingRe: Association Of Programmers In Nigeria by BigStar1(m): 10:57am On Jul 27, 2010
lojik:
Association of Nigerian Programmers, hmmmmn

You guys are just trying to start another NCS. After some years, some smaller groups will come up again and say ANP doesn't cater specifically for PHP prorammers and then they'll start Association of Nigerian PHP programmers. I'm a member of Nigerian Computer Society and as far as i'm concerned, No association(NCS, CPN of even your ANP) can be saddled with getting jobs for each member or spewing out codes for them or bringing them together to work on one commercial project or the other.

Most of the people clamoring for ANP have not even tried attending any NCS monthly meeting for free talk less of joining and they think NCS does not cater for software developers. Your ANP project does not have a justifiable basis and as such, i cant be part of it.

I feel some ppl just wanna create an avenue of either collecting dues or driving traffic to one new programmers forum under the name of ANP. Most of the programmers here don't even have a personal website (Say for a few) or a commercial software they can sell and they think its NCS fault that they are not getting jobs or not developing.

Na una sabi. everybody wan get forum. [in yoruba]Shio.
I guess knowing you (lojik as a member of NCS) could help me in as well.

I havee been trying to become a member but I need some one to sign for me. Hope u will be able to do that for me. pls send me a mail about how to get it done. bigstar4sure@yahoo.com 08060678106

ProgrammingRe: New To Programming by BigStar1(m): 10:08am On Jul 13, 2010
It depends on ur ability to learn.

In my own case, I was taught QBasic in school(FEDPOFFA). But when I went for my siwes, I was introduced to VB and that's how I started. See me today, I have upgraded myself talk of (C++, C#, Java, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Flash Animation etc). The point is that, A journey that is difficult to complete is the one that is not yet started. Call 08060678106 for support.

ProgrammingRe: Game Development: Join The Team by BigStar1(m): 8:25pm On Jul 11, 2010
@worldbest, I thought as much. I wanted to thank you for the text and quick response. (I like your kind gesture)

My major problem now is that I read this "Create a new Win32 Console Application. When the Win32 Application Wizard opens, click Application Settings. Change the type to a Windows application and select Empty project from the Additional options. Click Finish." online but windows application is disabled on my IDE.

As for the tutorial on http://www.ogre3d.org/tikiwiki/Installing+the+Ogre+SDK When I tried to run

setx OGRE_HOME D:\OgreSDK\OgreSDK_vc9_v1-7-1 from DOS as instructed, I got error msg "setx is not an internal bla bla" I removed the x and used "set OGRE_HOME D:\OgreSDK\OgreSDK_vc9_v1-7-1" then the report was that

"Enviroment name Ogre_Home not defined". Maybe tomorrow sha.

That's a good idea, but I guess am not supporting it.

ProgrammingRe: Game Development: Join The Team by BigStar1(m): 9:07am On Jul 09, 2010
Thank God. The network is now Ok.

I guess am changing my mind on the storyline, I'm going with The mixture of Worlbest and Skotens.

Then after that one is implemented, Like I suggested earlier, I want us to look into an activities that is common to all region of nigeria.

The issue is that of the popular fairly used vehicle(Tokunbo) smuglers(Thanks to them for making it easy for the less privillege people of our country to have access to cars, If not for them, how many car do you think would be in nigeria by now).

So, I suggest we write a game on that.

I'm still composing the storyline proper.

Cheers!!!.
ProgrammingRe: Game Development: Join The Team by BigStar1(m): 10:43am On Jul 08, 2010
It's a pity have not been contributing for long. It's due to my network connection.
But, we are still trying to get it fixed.

I think i go with worldbest as the leader and approve his storyline.

As for the game start, I wish it's in way that will depicts our country as the base.

And the cities and all other things should be nigerian(originality) . In short I want it to be a local form sha. then we can move on to the world.

All the things that were obvious then are now speculations!! I tought some people recorded the arson and killings then ? Abi dem no produce those things for court?
They produced them oooooooooooooooo.
They said they were not properly prooved to be true.

Especially the video clips. They said there was no voice to explain what was happening.

They said some party agent were claimed to be beaten, who were still alive, but did not appear before the court. Only God knows.
