To think that this is the same road I spent 12+ hrs from Benin to Lagos in 2009. There was hold up in the bush. Wept like a baby. Missed an all important flight. Don't like reliving those times. Nigerians suffered hell on that road!

People that don't live the cities they reside and read newspapers to get propaganda reports only would never understand why people think GEJ has ultra performed. We are experiencing tangible change in this country. In just 2 years the infrastructural transformation is unprecedented.

Pictures of what the road looked like in 2009. Imagine 20km of hold up on both sides of the road.

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Is Doing A Good Job In Onitsha. by billante(m): 9:22am On Mar 29, 2013
ZUBY77: I don't usually agree with bestview and chino on things concerning Anambra state but i am one person who says the truth whenever i see it.

From Onitsha headbridge all the way to Upper Iweka has 8 lanes now. It also have a clean service lane whch decongested the express way. Street lights are being mounted on them as we discuss this. I live in Asaba and shuttles to Onitsha on daily bases. So i know what i am talking about. A new road is also being constructed from housing estate to Ochanja through woliwo. This is a road that has been there forever but never worked on. Ask of Akunnia Njote and people will tell you.

What about the Nkpor Junction, a massive bridge just got finished there. That bridge has been going on since five years now. I initially thought it was FG project but today, the highway has 8 lanes too down to Old toll gate at Ogbunike....

Like i said earlier, Awada is getting a facelift. Ezeiweka has been finished and tared with very deep gutters. Oraifite is going on and Nwaziki will follow after.

Peter Obi is actually doing something now. I will surely get pictures but i usually drive past these places, so i can't just stop to take pictures while going for another business. I have gone to Enugu for Easter, i will make out time to take pictures when i return.
You didn't talk about, From upper iweka flyover to zik roundabout and to nkpor flyover, it seems like those area are still left undone

bestview: You do not know where you visited. Maybe you were in your dreams thiking about your poor state of origin.

Onitsha has really changed for good starting with Headbridge which now has 8 lanes with lighting and beautification. ANSEPA is cleaning the city and entire state steady and as when due. Virtually all the roads in the city are being reconstructed.

With the berthing of Shoprite, 5star hotels and major investors in the city -Onitsha is reborn
Dude go GRA snap d hotel shoprite pics make we see state of tins.

The privitization proceed money to be used to pay off the PHCN won't be a lost money, they are still going to spend it in nigeria economy, they are fathers, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, neigbours, customers of us one way or the other! They will buy cars, lands, laptops, go shopping, pay school fees and finally start up business which will employ people.

At the same time they will take their witch body comot that sector they have bedeviled for yrs, even though d good ones will still be needed in d industry.

So it is a win win situation

Godogwu: So the first woman selling farm produce was earning about $25 a day thats about N4,000 a day and now she earns 5 times the amount because the roads are way better and that's N20,000 a day. Lets assume all days aren't that good, but lets say she gets in N200,000 a month.

Please I'd like to know who actually lives on that $1 or $2 a day BS, like! That woman is a "roadside" seller of farm produce and she can send her kids to school, someone even said university level.
You dey mind them.....I keep hearing that crap of 60 percent of nigerians living on 1 dollar per day from reports and i just cant phantom dat white lie that has been told for so long.....even beggers make at least 7 dollars per day! for christ sake 1 dollar is 160 naira, even a plate of food is sold more than that.

Omo_Tier1: The GEJ uncircumcised laptop wiggies are here again! The want to claim a project clearly sponsored by AFDB as their 'polluted Fresh Air' undecided GEJ in all of me does not have the intellectual capability to conceive and see such a project come to fruition!

As some have also commented, I wonder why the Cameroon section of the road looks more like country roads you see in developed nations why the Nigerian portion looks like substandard project!

In any case, this is the kind of project Africa wants to see, I was so touched by the smiles beaming from the faces of the women selling those fruits and plantains. See what a singular act can do to a generation! Now her children can go to school not under any Amnesty programme, rather through self determination and realizing the opportunity the road development has brought to her door step.

Kudos to the brains who conceived this project as saw it come to fruition.

By the way, I hope the useless Nigeria Police force will not end up setting road blocks along that road! They are never to be trusted.
Did you noticed the impecable english the village woman plantain seller was speaking and she is camerounian! I Was suprised....while the nigerian men were using farm cutlass to tear their english with igbotic accent! grin

greaterlove: the roads have really improved, i came into abuja today thru enugu-ajaokuta-lokoja and i couldnt believe my eyes, i had to start taking pictures of the road, it was so good to be true anybody who has taken that route recently can attest to the fact that its smooth from start to finish virtually no bumps anywhere except some speed bumps around ajule on your way to ajaokuta. my mouth was just filled with praise for GEJ, because the last time i took that route in 2009 it was something else.
Really? Dat 9th mile obollo afor otukpo road? Dat road has been death trap since abacha regime! D best they have been doing was to patch some areas!

I Saw this advert on the punch newspaper and begin to wonder if GEJ is actually what the opposition is painting him to be!! we have heard all the name callings, that he is clueless, that his government is the worst thing that has happened to nigeria.

Can we in all sincerity say he is the worst president ever? sentiments and politics aside!

SportsNigeria Vs Mali - U20 Nations Cup (0 - 1) Live by billante(op): 7:51am On Mar 17, 2013
Nigeria comes into the 12 th Orange CAF U-20 African Championship that starts in Algeria this weekend as title holders but to their coach John Sam Obuh says that doesn’t count for anything going into this tournament. “

For a start this is a different team from two years ago and while that’s sounds nice to be called defending champions, you cannot expect that to simply win you the next tournament, so we are well prepared and ready to engage side in the competition”

Speaking to Cafonline.com ahead of his team’s opening match against fellow West Africans, Mali on Sunday in Oran, Obuh believes there are no small teams in the competition and every side has potential to do well so he has prepared his charges with this in mind, “ We respct every team here and for our first game, we expect a tough match against Mali who always have strong teams especially at youth level. Mali is always there or thereabout in such competitions and we have to play well to win but l am confident of my team and having done as much as a coach can, all that is left is for the good fortune from God that you always need to do well in football”

Like other coaches in the tournament, Obuh made no secret that the target for his side is a semi-final place, which gives Nigeria an automatic qualification for FIFA U-20 World Cup later on this year. “ We will take it one game at a time as we aim to make semis and from there on we will look to retain the Cup but securing a World Cup place is the top priority. It is almost like an added bonus to reach semis and this is motivation enough for the boys.

They want to go and play in the World Cup like the 2011 side and l tell them they too have an opportunity to be part of history by reaching Turkey where the U-20 World Cup will take place.”

Nigeria vs Mali will kick off at 17h30 local time in Oran- Algeria and will be followed in the same stadium by DR Congo vs Gabon kick off 20h30
